Llyr's mother was a young kirin who had run away from home, one who had had the misfortune of being tricked into imbuing a stone in October as well, by a devious Fallen/Dryad hybrid. She had known her family would never permit her to stay, or care for her child, because he was a Hallowed, so for his sake, she ran. During the time she spent traveling to find a new home, she came across an abandoned baby in the woods. This child was another Hallowed, a pure Elf boy. She took the little one in, naming him Ophion, to raise them both as brothers.
She managed to move them into the Below, and found a small home in an out of the way place, where she could raise the two of them in privacy, and safety from the judging views of the world. They lived happily enough for several years... Until the boys were both about five years old. Their mother had gone to town to do some trading, to get the things they needed that she could not grow for them. When she came back, however, she was not alone... And barely hanging on to her life. Strangers in all black grabbed the children, and carried them all off to a far away laboratory. The scientists there, who wore black lab coats with blood red trim, separated the children from their mother. Llyr saw her twice more after this... once at 14, and once on the day she died.
Over the course of the next decade, the children were put through terrible experiments. At first, they were just mental... Forced to choose between eating and their sibling being allowed to eat, forced to endure mental abuse, and so on. As they got older. the experiments became physical, testing how much pain they could handle, or forcing them to work to the ends of their endurance at harder labor. When they became early teens... The experiments became sexual. Suffice to say, Llyr was forced to do things to his adoptive brother, and once even his mother, that no child should ever be forced to do with anyone. The scientists forced him to wear heavy chains and shackles, and act submissively, towards his brother. If he had had much will left, he probably would have killed himself. Instead, he kept living because he was too terrified of going against the wills of the scientists to think of anything else.
Unfortunately, it was not until they were 18 that some one found out about this place, and sent a team to rescue all the victims of this lab. It was too late for their mother, for she had died shortly before hand, broken inside and out by the horrors of that place. Llyr and Ophion were taken to a Mental Health hospital, to be treated, both for their physical wounds and their mental. When it was over, unfortunately, Llyr could not bear the sight of Ophion, for his mind could not let go of the need to obey his brother in all ways... And a need deep inside to please his brother in all ways too, for that was what the scientists had trained him to do. Seeing his brother terrified him, partly because of the trauma deep inside, and partly because he did not believe he could resist what had been trained into him.
The psychologists did everything they could to help him, then helped him enroll into Grendel University, where he studied Dance. He had been trained, after all, to move gracefully, to please the eyes of those around him. He graduated and went to dance professionally. He found that, when he was not performing, he still felt uncomfortable without the chains, etc, so he had some golden chains and collars designed, along with matching jewelry, to wear that would look decorative... And he does not take them off. No one outside of his psychologist, at this point, ever hears about his past, and he is terrified to trust, and believes he will never find love, for how could anyone love or want some one who'd done the things he had done?

Ophion's parents had been from pure blood elven families who looked down on Halloweds, with great prejudice. His parents had accidentally imbued his stone on the first of October. They waited until November the first, in hopes that he would escaped the mutations of October, to call him from his stone. However, it was immediately evident that this was not the case, and rather then admit their error, for they had hidden what they had done from their families, they abandoned the young babe in the woods somewhere. The poor innocent was lucky, for he was found by a young kirin who had run away from home, one who had had the misfortune of being tricked into imbuing a stone in October as well, by a devious Fallen. She took the baby, and named him Ophion, with the intent to raise him alongside her own son, Llyr, as siblings.

Strangers in all black grabbed the children, and carried them all off to a far away laboratory. The scientists there, who wore black lab coats with blood red trim, separated the children from their mother. Ophion did not see her again until he was 13.

The experiments became sexual. Suffice to say, Ophion was forced to do things to his adoptive brother, and even his adoptive mother, that no child should ever be forced to do with anyone. The scientists had him tattoo'd as a part of this, for reasons he will never tell anyone again. He endured this horror for years, whispering to them that some day they would be freed, saved. He held onto this hope with great strength.

And so Ophion went off on his own, first to their old home, where he found a single photo from when they were children, and then to Leviathan Academy, so that he could get a degree. He became a Coder, and now works from the privacy of his own home, lonely but unwilling to seek out his beloved brother, for fear of the trauma he might cause him. He avoids discussions of his past, or his tattoos, at all costs.
