User ImageAh, the Zodiac signs...yes, Teo could talk about the Zodiac. He liked discussions like this. That's what he kept telling himself. "My Zodiac sign is the Wreath," he said. "The Wreath is a Diplomat, and is marked by being optimistic, accepting, trusting, and peaceful. I like to think that I'm all of those things. I like it when people are calm and getting along with each other, so I really like my sign, and I think it suits me really well--except for some things. It's said that Wreaths are oblivious and complacent, and I don't think I'm either of those things. I'm also not superficial, and I'm not insecure. I'm actually very secure with myself, and I don't like superficiality." He smiled, satisfied with what he had to say. There was nothing else to mention. Nothing at all.

User ImageSo now it was Talya's turn to talk about her sign. She straightened up in her seat, brushed her bangs over her forehead to hide her third eye, and cleared her throat primly. "I was born under the sign of the Crown. The Crown is the Companion. Crowns are trustworthy and hard-working, and I am both of those things." She shot her classmates a glare. If any of them denied that, she would be very unhappy. She did so work hard! She worked very hard at keeping everything she owned clean, and she always turned in her homework on time. She got good grades, too! "Crowns hate unfairness, but we love giving things to people. I think I fit the Crown very well, and crowns fit me." She smiled at her own joke. She loved crowns--that is, the ornament, not the people. It was fit for a princess, and she was, at least in her own mind, a princess. "They do say that Crowns are also cautious and self-denying, and I'm definitely those things, too. I like to give away things when I have enough to give away, and I never make a decision lightly. Thank you." She didn't know who she was thanking, but it felt right to say. It felt...gracious. Yes, that was the word.

User ImageAnchriesel raised his eyebrows at the twitchy Goblins. Apparently there was a bee in their bonnets about magic. Odd. Chries quite liked magic. In fact, he loved it. He wanted to be an enchanter someday--he couldn't imagine why anyone would be against it. "Most occupational magics were invented by Imps," he said softly. "Many races will claim otherwise, but Impish contributions to occupational magic are well-documented in historical and arcane literature. Although an Imp would never enchant something to make it more desirable, Imps do use magic to help preserve the shelf life of their products and to strengthen their structural integrity. Imp magic tends towards the practical--magic that can be used to achieve tasks in and about the home and workplace, rather than magics that entertain or impress." There. That more or less summed it up. He went back to people watching, making notes in the margins about the reactions of other students.

User ImageWyrdda tried to remember what they'd learned about Grimm families ever since the Grimms had returned in a burst of headlines. Once again she felt regret that she hadn't been able to participate in those momentous events--she'd been sick at the time, so she'd spent the entire adventure locked up in her room. That had been before she had a roommate.

She wrote her answer down on her whiteboard. Grimms live in packs, or at least they used to live in packs (these days, there is only one pack). Grimm families within the pack are tightly knit. Most family members will never move away from their family. The two exceptions to that rule are the children who are--or were--traded to other packs to keep bloodlines healthy, and those individuals who are better suited to live an academic life. Those individuals move away to live with Nixie. Grimm children are taught by the entire pack, and most decisions are made by the shaman.

That was about all she could remember.

Citali got more and more nervous the closer it was to being her turn. Talking about goblin magic was well...not really allowed. And here she was suppose to talk about it? What was she going to do? What was she going to say? All the thoughts swirling through her head were making her panic. She listened to the first goblin student talk a little about their magic, but the second student scared her with that glare. She tried to make herself shrink into her seat, to be as small as possible.

It was her turn, and she could barely make herself sit up straight so she could speak. Didn't help she was naturally shy to begin with, and now she had to figure out what to say in order to make the teacher happy and not have anyone hate her at the same time. "Um, well, um...Goblin magic is well...there isn't really a lot of Goblin magic. It isn't really um..." Citali coughed nervously as she tried to gather her thoughts again before continuing on. "Magic, isn't really uh our uh strong point. So uh, there isn't really much for me to say at all on it." Glancing around at the eyes staring at her and the teacher she quickly looked down at her hands and squeaked out an apology, her face burning. Hopefully she would pass the assignment and not get into to much trouble.

User ImageWhen Oriset heard that they would be discussing cultures in class, she was nervous. As defiant as she was towards her elders, there was still a part of her that balked at sharing her people's culture and history. It just...it just wasn't done. You could be as defiant a Goblin as you liked, but you could never cross that line. You could never betray your race.

Thankfully, their teacher allowed them to talk about other races's families as well. Good. She could do that. "I'm not a Fey, but," she began, "their family traditions are very interesting indeed! Fey believe that all members of their race are members of their family. Family is chosen rather than awakened into. Basically, if you care a lot about someone, they're your family. They're quick to adopt siblings, and any adult in the community can be considered a child's parent. All members of their family are equal, with decisions made together--which is a neat idea, I think--and you can't lose your family. Ever. There's pretty much no way you can lose your family's love in Fey society. You have to do something really bad to be disowned."

Not how it was in Goblin society. She didn't say that, though. The end of her tail curled slightly, but it quickly settled down. There had been a momentary pang in her heart, one of fear of loss. She could lose her family at any time...she knew that. It was a risk. A risk she would have to take if she wanted to achieve her dreams.

She found Fey families fascinating. She really did. She'd always found them fascinating. Probably because they were just so different from Goblin families...

Oh... Talk about their racial magic? Jericho found himself filling with a sense of dread. While he hadn't been raised with other Goblins, and thus, didn't really know about the whole secrecy thing... He didn't really know anything about his own race's magic in general! It wasn't taught at the school he used to go to. He watched as the other Goblin students seemed to struggle with the question, and felt some relief that he wouldn't be alone...

"U-um..." He stammered a little, feeling the nervousness rise as his turn came around. "I don't really know a lot -- anything really, I g--grew up with Elves, h-honestly.... but no one in my family is particularly magical." He shook his head, hoping that would be a good enough answer for the teacher. Goodness he was scary even if he had a gentle voice.

Zeke stood as it was now his turn to speak for the class assignment. He felt it was his time to shine. Clearing his throat, then rolling his shoulders back so he could at least stand as tall as he felt, he began to talk about his sign. "I'm a Scepter. We tend to be confident and generous. Some would say that our tendencies to be dogmatic and stubborn are a weakness, but they only make us stronger in who we are because we know what we believe and stand by it!" He adjusted his stance a bit more before taking a couple steps to the side of his desk. "We like to see things get better for all, and admittedly, I know I like recognition for what I to from time to time. Who doesn't like to feel like they've done a good job? So yes. I feel my sign fits who I am very nicely. However, I don't feel that the 'weaknesses' are something that should be thought of as weak. Like I said, they only make us more of who we are!" Giving his little hand a bit of a pump up as he finished what he had to say, Zeke then grinned, bowed slightly, and took to his seat once more.

Even though she felt tired per her norm, Mai Tai was actually excited to talk about the zodiacs today. As her turn came about, she sat up in her seat and at least gave her best effort to speak a bit more on the louder side than she usually did. "My zodiac sign is The Chalice. The strengths of those born under the Chalice are being self-aware, independent, perceptive, honest, and romantic. The ones I know fit me for sure so far are being independent and honest. I think those are pretty good qualities to see in myself." She yawned, quickly doing her best to cover it it, before getting back to talking. "Weaknesses of those born under the sign are being moody, self-conscious, h...hedonistic, isolated, and disenchanted." She had stumbled over one of the words, but it was of those out there things. "I'm not sure I can relate to any of those. I think my weakness is always being... -- yawn -- sleepy. hee." Mai rubbed her eyes and yawned again before trying to wrap her turn up. "I'm not sure that I really fit in with my zodiac, but I still think it's cool when you can find bits of who you are in it."

User ImageFreddy looked a little bored through the class. He wasn't particularly interested in zodiac signs, and honestly have never gotten why some people were so wrapped up in them. He'd rather get to know someone first before labeling them by whatever sign they were. He stood up when his turn was called, trying to at least make an effort.

"I'm a Chalice. I guess that makes me an individual?" Freddy shrugged (the titles never made sense to him) and reached up to scratch his head as he continued. "We're supposed to be pretty independent, self-aware, and honest which I guess I am. I'm not sure what they mean by self-conscious? It sounds like shy though, and I'm not that. I guess I can be moody sometimes as well." He shrugged again. "I don't really pay much attention to it though, cause sometimes people don't fit their signs at all. They're alright for fun, but I don't take 'em super seriously." He settled back in his chair, hoping his answer was alright.

User ImageZodiac signs where funny things. He remembered some of the older kids talking about how true their sign was to them and some disgusted because it was the farthest thing from the truth. Layren wasn’t sure how he felt about it but the assignment did call for an answer. Looking at a sheet of paper he found what he would be labeled as; a Crown. A Crown huh, did him really think that it fit him. Well it would help the word count he said if nothing else.

“I’m not sure how well I fit my zodiac sign. Crowns are hardworking and committed, which I guess I always try to be. You see I really want to succeed in life and make sure that my parents never regret adopting me. I guess because I don’t want to lose my family again I can be considered a bit careful which is of course another Crown trait. It’s just once we move on into the weaknesses that it becomes more grey territory. I am far from codependent and I definitely am not self-denying.

I could definitely be considered possessive, but I believe it’s more something that was brought by circumstance. I was imbued in October so I came out already with deformed wings so flight was taken from me. It turned out my parents couldn’t handle this and so they left me. So I’m definitely possessive of the people that I have now such as my family and my best friend. I guess I could also be checked under wanting to feel needed, security. So I suppose the sign really does fit me in the long run. Sorry I rambled so much to get here.”
Layren replied.

Ugh he did feel a bit silly but really he often thought of himself as more pigheaded and stubborn if anything else. So it was understandable he wouldn’t really think aobut it right after the bat, right? Ah well at least he talked about it.

Talking ugh… there were always better things to do than talking. Well it wasn’t as if Hermes truly hated talking but he was just so used to signing and silence. Both his roommates were mute after all. He supposed he could be guilty of going around the dorm room just talking to himself when he got to be to quiet but that was beside the point. Since it was his turn he had to talk about his zodiac sign right.

“Well I guess it’s my turn then? I’m a staff and I’m not isolated or obsessed by any stretch of the imagination. However I think it’s a pretty good match for me personally. Staffs are considered Intelligent, Curios, and analytical which I believe I fall under. I am even a perfectionist which is another trait one would assume with a Crown. I suppose I could be considered High-strung on occasions and have a glaring need to disregard limitations and do outrageous things to escape monotony. These, of course, are all very Staff like personality quirks. Since I want to be a Scientist when I grow up I also like to learn, and I like to problem solve, which are also staff likes. Well I supposed I did ramble on about, and I do still need to answer if I agree or identify with being a Staff right. I think I would have to agree with my zodiac sign and think it’s a rather good indication of my personality”
Hermes answered.

Come to think of it, thinking about the other zodiac signs and their strengths and weaknesses he probably would have been a pretty good mirror too. Ah, guess he was born at the right time of the day.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Wayne didn't disagree with the traits associated with his Zodiac. There was a sense of accuracy with some of the descriptions (in fact a good number of them were almost too accurate) that the imp freshling couldn't deny fit him to a T. Plus, he was the sort who followed rules and regulations with the understanding that they were established for a reason. So who was to say that the Zodiac wasn't implemented with that in mind?

When his turn came, he stood up smartly, "I'm Wayne, I'm in House Eldritch, and my Zodiac is the Spear. And I am very much correctly born under this sign. I don't wanna have to demonstrate the bad stuff that comes with it, but sometimes I gotta if it means getting the job done. If you don't think you fit your sign, maybe you don't understand yourself or your sign enough."

And with that, he sat back down.

User ImageThe little demoness smiled as she contemplated her sign, "My sign is the Wreath. I like it and I think it suits me pretty well, being considered the Diplomat. Though I don't think I'm very complacent or oblivious, I do think I'm an optimist and I don't like fighting very much. In general, we Wreaths are Accepting, Optimistic, Peaceful, Insecure and Indecisive" She grabbed a few traits as glanced over the paper describing them, she knew she was a little insecure, especially because she was an orphan for so long , but it wasn’t like a huge part of her personality.

"Sometimes I feel like the zodiac signs are too vague, ‘cause these could fit a lot of people I know that aren't Wreaths. Who doesn’t like to be happy or to make others happy?"

User ImageAnstice pursed her lips as she looked over the traits for her zodiac sign, “My sign is the Crown, the Companion, and I’m not quite sure if I like it.” So many others seemed to like their sign, but hers didn’t really suit her completely. “The positive traits seem okay, but everything else seems needy. I like to think I’m somewhat independent, even if I’m just a kid and I need my mom.” She had spent so much time alone in that orphanage, especially after Ash had been adopted, she didn’t want to feel like she needed someone to be herself.

“I don’t like to be lonely, but I don’t think anyone likes unfairness…” Maybe she sounded defensive, one of the Crown’s traits, but she wasn’t quite sure if she was like these general traits at all.
