"I guess there's always a good party to go to on your birthday anyway hu? I never really liked birthday parties myself, all those people staring at you and expecting you to," Taavi waved a hand vaguely, "I don't know, to do something anyway. I know a lot of people love them but it's way too much attention all at once for me, and when people sing Happy Birthday to you? The rangers always did it to me, I know they were being nice and show they cared but cringe." Nobody ever took you seriously when you said you really didn't want a fuss. It was different between just a couple of friends but to have the whole ranger station singing at you? Ugh!

"Um but, yeah," Taavi nodded, "though I can't think of many groups daring enough to try to steal It!"

"There is always some sort of party happening on Halloween, which is rather awesome but I tend to keep away from birthday parties and go for straight up Halloween ones. They are fun."

Lex tipped his head back, looking up at the sky and grin. "And well, I do love the season my birthday falls on. Brisk weather, leaves changing, delicious fresh food as most of the harvest get brought in.. Ooh and Pumpkins. I do love Pumpkins."

"Well it's a beautiful season but I could go without the mud, camping in the mud is a lot trickier than out of it! It gets everywhere, but I guess at least the tent pegs are easier to hammer in when it's been raining. I like the fresh produce though, and the color of the leaves. So long as it's not actually raining at the time it's great to sit by a warm campfire with some hot food and a hot drink.... Oh, I wonder if my shelter is still up?" He'd forgotten all about that; getting the apartment and then the job interview and everything after that had driven it right out of his mind.

"I should explain that," Taavi continued as he realised he'd wondered aloud. "Before I got an apartment I was camping out a lot and I ended up building myself a shelter near Sandalwood. It was pretty sturdy so it could still be up!" If it was something was probably living in it by now and the thought of that made him feel good.

"Spring I believe has more mud, actually it hard to choose which season has the worst mud." When it rain, mud happened. Lex paused looking at Taavi and gave a soft hum of thought. "Well, that is a talent. I never really managed to make a proper shelter."

"Maybe we could get a pumpkin to carve later in the month," He mused it had been a while since he actually carved a pumpkin. "Maybe with some cider and pumpkin bread or muffins, or cookies... lots of pumpkin flavored things in October."

"It's true, Spring is pretty muddy as well," Taavi agreed with a shrug and a smile. To him at least though it didn't feel so... rainy as Fall did; everything was coming alive again and that made the rain feel less gloomy. Much as he did like the Fall he liked Spring better but he wasn't going to say that aloud seen as Sasha seemed to have a preference for Fall.

"And I'd like that," Taavi continued instead, his smile warming as the last of his anxiety over being boring faded. "We could even try making our own out of the pumpkin we carve, that could be fun! Baking adventures." Cooking was generally a minor chore that ended up with nice results but when you were cooking with somebody it was different or at least it was to him. It was the difference between keeping yourself alive in the most pleasant way possible and a social activity, and also it was quicker with two people working together. "Do you do a lot of cooking at home?" Where did Sasha live come to that? He kind of felt it was a detail he ought to know about somebody he was dating but it just hadn't come up yet.

"Ooh no, my landlord is trying to teach me but most of my cooking has been rather simple things." Lots of take out and snacks and easy microwave and warming up things. He could heat up soups and boil water and make grilled cheese without burning it to a crisp and that really was about it.

"He's nice but really shy and part of the rental agreement was I wouldn't invite anyone over so, yeah I apologize on that part. I hadn't expected to find someone that I would want to bring over... at that moment it was rent I can afford, yes, I will sigh."

Well that was pretty weird, Taavi couldn't imagine actually a) living with your landlord and b) getting on well enough that they tried to teach you to cook and possibly cooked for you some of the time? Oh and the 'no guests' rule was odd too but he guessed it was a bit different if you were more a lodger than a tenant.

Taavi gave a little grin and shrugged. "Well I suppose just this one time I can forgive you for not perfectly predicting the future. Heh. Having somewhere affordable is important and it sounds like a pretty nice arrangement you have too even if you have some odd rules." It was kind of a shame actually, he hadn't thought about it before but now he did he would like to see what Sasha would do with the place he lived. Oh well there was nothing either of them could do about it so it wasn't a big deal so there was no point worrying. "You'll just have to come and see me all the time I guess!"

"It's weird I know, but it about two hundred and fifty a month. Which is very affordable when I have a house to mainly roam about. Lots and lots of plants though. All over the place," Lex mused. "And of course. I'm going to visit as often as I can."

"Shall we find a shop to browse?" He asked.

"Two fifty?" Taavi stared at Sasha, momentarily speechless. Two fifty a month, and about? How could there be any about about rent? Wherever Sasha's money came from he must have a fair bit of it. "Wow, that's an amazing deal," Taavi managed to add after a few moments, trying not to feel too jealous. Two fifty a month for a nice house with space and plants, and he was paying more than three times that for.... Ugh. Well there was nothing he could do about it and he didn't want to be sour, he ought to just be glad that Sasha had a nice place to live.

"And sure, let's go! Ah, which way?" Taavi paused to look around, trying to remember which shops were in which direction. "I think there's a fancy department store that way?" he gestured left. "And over there there's that string of boutiques I think?" He'd prefer to go to the department store really but even stronger than that preference was his preference to let Sasha choose.

"I know, right? I have a twenty some year old landlord who is obsessed with plants and adorable and deciding to teach me how to cook and it costs that much. I mean part of it is I'm only renting a room in house but still. It is nice." Actually it was more of a dorm room in a base but it wasn't like he could say that.

"I do have a love for boutiques," Lex mused, and sighed. "But they are usually so over price so lets check out the department store first. And it has the benefit of being level." Which was a plus at the moment. "Maybe next time we can check out the boutiques."

Yeah, but how big's your room Sasha? And you don't have horrible screaming neighbours and three different locks on your door do you? And you probably get use of a bath or at least a really nice shower, and probably a nice TV with cable, and good internet connection, and all the rest! There might even be a back and or front yard. "Yeah, it sounds it," Taavi said with a small smile. And the landlord was his own age... was anything happening there? He felt bad for even thinking it but he couldn't help the niggle of doubt, kind of convenient that they'd never meet right? He'd probably not think like that anymore once he knew Sasha a bit better though, once they'd built some trust between them.... If that happened of course, he was probably getting ahead of himself.

"I suppose you get what you pay for unless it's a brand... well you get what you pay for there too, but what you pay for is the brand," Taavi said with a little 'heh' and a shrug as he turned to head towards the department store. "But most of these places seem overpriced to me, I mean you can pay - like - a hundred dollars for a towel set. What's that about? For a hundred dollar towel set I want it to be heated, self-cleaning, and also be a wifi hotspot."
PostPosted: Fri Sep 11, 2015 1:33 pm

"Mmhm, I can get the appeal if you have that much money to toss about, because those expensive towels are heavenly soft and you can imagine making a nest of them to sleep on. But yeah, don't have that sort of money to toss about for something that you are meant to dry off with." Lex grinned. "

"Anyhow, what did you want to look at first? I take it not towel sets, since I can't think of any that are self-cleaning or able to have a wifi hotspot." Hmm, would nano fibers of some sort work?

"Oh I'm not going to buy anything," Taavi replied with a wry smile, rubbing the back of his neck and shaking his head as he spoke. "Strictly window shopping, my budget for the week is all spent or allocated forward to bills and rent. I don't know though, it could be fun to look at their furniture and stuff? We can sit on all the fancy chairs and test the mattresses like we're actually going to buy them...." Taavi paused, cleared his throat and clarified; "Not that sort of test. Sit on. I'm pretty sure you get thrown out if you actually try to test the mattresses. Um. But I'd like to look around their food and stuff as well, these places always have fancy spices and interesting meats and things. What about you? Are you shopping for anything yourself?"
PostPosted: Fri Sep 11, 2015 1:47 pm

"Heheh, they do have some expensive fancy chairs and well maybe bounce a bit on the mattresses," Lex replied and thought about it. "Maybe, don't know yet. We'll see what catches my interests."

"We'll have to look for free samples," Taavi offered in addition to Sasha's comment with a nod. "There's usually food samples at these places right? And sometimes cosmetics?" He wasn't into all that himself but he knew Sasha was at least to some degree so it was worth a look. Free stuff was always good.

As they approached the sparkling glass doors of the huge, elegant looking building Taavi couldn't help feeling faintly intimidated. This place... this place wasn't meant for people like him, it seemed to go to a real effort to express that from the beautiful window displays to the gleaming brass accenting the doors. He was as entitled as anyone to be here though, so he was just going to go in and ignore any dirty looks he might get from the staff and the other customers.
