Jonah decided to take the herbalism class since he still wanted to go into medicine, so he figured knowing about plants was important to what he wanted to do. Jonah calmly went about gathering the tomatoes off the vine, putting them carefully in a basket.

Aedus looked at the plants, thinking wondering if he would be any good at this. He sighed and made his attempt he was going to be so pissed if something bit him. Aedus was rather shocked he was actually good at this, maybe he should start a garden of his own for his familiars.

After giving up completely on her Care of Magical Creatures class Kimi decided to fall back on something she was even more comfortable with; Plants. Plants had never let her down before and vice versa. Maybe if she touched up on her abilities to care for some plants, then she'd regain some more...stability with familiars. It was worth a shot anyway. She did everything but sleep with her plant at night to make sure it grew up nice and healthy. In the end, she didn't think she could have cared for a more perfect plant! How lovely. She could swear it literally sparkled!

Plants weren't exactly something that Odessa was comfortable with, but she did enjoy cooking so she figured she should learn something about where the products she used in cooking came from. Her little garden didn't do as well as some others, but she was thankful and actually proud of herself to be able to harvest anything. She had never grown anything in her life before and it as actually pretty rewarding!

Herbalism sounded like a good class to the nixie, for why not go for it? Surely she could learn something valuable, and maybe even find a new hobby? Whatever came of her experience, it surely would be a learning experience. Coralie almost screamed when she saw the bugs eating away at her plant, shooing them away and groaning in sadness. They had eaten the whole thing, much to her dismay. She had to be more careful with these bugs!

This time Coralie managed to grow her plant to the point of it ripening, a smile slowly forming on her face as she admired it. It was a real beauty to her, and a simple one at that. However, she noticed a bug out of the corner of her eye, glaring at it and shooing it away from her plant. No! She wasn't going to let anything get to her plant, especially now that it was fully done. The nixie had kind of connected with it, treating it with care like it was one of her familiars. This plant was special to her now, and she couldn't wait to turn it in.

Class today was hard work, but ultimately rewarding. Wyrdda put on a pair of gloves and jumped right to work. By the end of the class, her arms were feeling a little sore, but at least she hadn't gotten covered in bugs or--shudder--stinging nettles. She smiled at the teacher as she left class. Not normally her thing, but...kind of nice.

Oriset thought that harvesting would be easy--after all, it wasn't like they were trying to keep the plants alive, they were just running around touching them, right? She reached down to grab one of her plants, taking a big handful of narrow leaves. Pain shot through her fingers and she gasped. The pain didn't leave after she pulled her hand away. Stinging nettles, she thought, clutching her throbbing hand. So that's what it looks like! Glumly, she tried to soldier on.

After grinding the stupid nettle under her boot, Oriset tried again, moving onto the next plant. It was going to be a very bad day for her poor hands, she thought with a sinking feeling of terror, as a yellowjacket crawled onto her hand. She desperately waved it off, scurrying away. It clung on! She tried to hide a whimper as she desperately tried to figure out a way to scrape off the offending insect. Come on, come on, come on!
Finally, the wasp flew away, and Oriset could breathe a sigh of relief. Okay. Seriously now. Time to pay more attention to the plants and their residents, yes?

With two bad experiences under her belt, Oriset was a lot more careful for the rest of the lesson. She didn't dare tell the teacher about her hand, though--he'd probably scold her for not noticing, or she'd get in trouble, or... Years of being told to keep her head down raised their ugly heads in her mind, and she kept quiet. It wasn't until after class that she rushed to the nurse's office for a healing salve for the rash.

Kunibert walked into class with all of the over-confidence of a dryad. He'd survived a few weeks this summer all by himself, he knew all about plants, right? Ha. Ha. The gods sure liked to laugh at Kuni, didn't they.
One of his plants had been trampled the day before. He sighed in frustration, patting the mashed leaves gently. He murmured a prayer for them, then looked over the rest of his garden. All of the fight had gone out of him at that sight, and he couldn't think what to do next. He swore he spent half of the class staring at his plants in confusion. Now what?

Eventually he rallied and got back to work. Check the leaves. Check the plants for new fruits and flowers. Do a bit of weeding (with gloves on). Practice tying plants to stakes in anticipation of the harvest. All of the usual things. All the while, he glared at his classmates, wondering if any of them had been responsible for the murder of his poor plant. Probably none of them, but he had no way of telling, did he?

It was a beautiful day for this work, and a beautiful kind of work, really. It was nice to get out in the open air and work with the plants. Nai wasn't really sure what he would do with his fruits and vegetables when they'd been harvested--probably he'd donate them to a soup kitchen. It's not as if he could cook them at the dorm. He checked the fruits and the leaves and removed a few weeds.
He looked over surreptitiously at his roommate, Kunibert. He would have offered advice to the struggling dryad, but unfortunately, he was pretty sure Kuni would just lash out at him. That was the sad fact of his friend. Oh well. He finished the work, gave Corben a smile and a nod and a quiet "thank you" on his way out of class.

Yaviss did not dawdle, but got straight to work, following Corben's instructions on how to properly harvest the plants. Obviously, it wasn't time to harvest right now, but it was good to get the practice in. He pulled slugs off his plants and brushed off insects. There was no way he was going to let them get his plants before the harvest! Not now that they were so close to being ripe and ready.
When class ended, he retrieved his jacket from where he had left it nearby. It was covered in dirt. He sighed, but put it on. Dirt was worth it for a simple, relaxing class like herbalism.

Denidar did his best, his bandana tied around his forehead to keep the sweat out of his eyes. It was good to be out in the early autumn sunshine. It was enough, certainly, to get him in the mood for fall. He loved working with plants, and he was proud to say that his plants were getting along swimmingly. They looked very nice right now, their nearly-ripe fruits dangling from their stems. He checked the soil moisture and nodded to himself. Just right. Soon, he thought. Soon you'll be ready to be picked and I'll get to taste the fruits of my labors. He looked over at Niol to see how his twin was doing in his garden.
