As Ikasu performs repairs he thinks about his late grandfather's profession as a doctor. "Right then," he mutters as he evaluates the training dummy's damage. "Very well, you lucky dummy looks like you will be receiving a healing lesson next. He rubs his palms together and concentrates on what Kyoshiro had taught him. "Yawarakaku fureru, Tamashī o yawarageru! Chiyudo #1 Choryoku Kaiho!" His hands glow with a green light as his mana focuses on healing the damages. The process is slow and weak, but it is a start. He then continues to put his energies into healing the dummy; for what good will it be to retrain only his offensive skills? No good whatsoever. Not to mention it was a potential faux pax to leave that part damaged when he did repairs to the rest of the mechanisms. "Once I heal you up, we will just start back over again, my friend." This is a process he repeats several more times. Each time he damages the training dummy he returns and chants "Yawarakaku fureru, Tamashī o yawarageru! Chiyudo #1 Choryoku Kaiho!" once more. The repetition is a tad mind-numbing, but worth it in the end when he gets it perfected. Refreshing this skill will allow him to heal his test subjects as needed. As he does this by rote after a while, his mind wanders to other tasks and more interesting subjects. Now he remembers why he never followed in his grandfather's footsteps. Nor did he want to head into the policing and security sector as his grandmother had done. After all, that was the Hi family profession. No, he is going by a branch family name right now, Yougan, and it will do him no good to admit yet to his true lineages. Not publically at least. Was that a hell butterfly floating by? He shakes his head and returns his focus to the task at hand. "Baka, don't let yourself get so distracted," he scolds himself. It was both a blessing and a curse, but he has yet one disability or condition if you would like to call it that - Attention Deficit Hyper Activity Disorder or ADHD. Or as he prefers to humorously call it - Attention Deficit Ooh Shiney.

XXXXX Tanji casually walks into the academy's training room as Ikasu is telling himself to not let himself get distracted. "If you are getting distracted by something, you either don't like what you are getting distracted from, or whatever you are getting distracted by is more important." he says as he slowly strolls over to a wooden target block. "Or at least that's what I tell myself when I get distracted." he continues on with as he draws his Zanpakuto from the sash on his waist. It's wooden blade is polished to a shine, and the handle looks just as well taken care of. He starts taking light swings at the wooden block. "Oh, and i'm Tanji Masaki, by the way. I believe this is the first time we've met." he said after realizing he hadn't introduced himself.

Ikasu steps back and reactivates the training simulator and watches as the experimental gigais glide around on their tracks in a simple test run. Zigging. Zagging. To. Fro. It was running smoothly. Next, he tests the vertical movement. It clicks clacks and freezes up a fraction of a second. He slams his hand on the safety stop button and immediately sets about repairing it. "Not yet ... yes. That. Hmm," he mutters to himself as he continues his repairs and upgrades. "Hai. That will do it now." He slaps the nearest training dummy as he passes it and chortles to himself. "Now, no more acting like a fool, you big dummy." With that, he returns to training. This time it would be Bougyoudo #54: Double Incantation. He cheerfully alternates the chants of both Jellen and Choryu Kaiho. The attack landed, but the healing did not. Damn it. He continues his attempts to master the skill. The primary issue is dividing attention, a precious commodity to him. That was easier said than done. Another attempt. Double damn it. Keep trying. Do not give up. Keep trying again. And again. Again. AGAIN. He stops. This will not do. He sits and meditates for a while before he loses his temper. This should not be so difficult. He only has a couple of precious hours before the students start arriving and he gets roped into training somebody in something. It is his day off for once and he did not desire to have to whip out a lesson plan and sacrifice his time and energy when he has his projects to handle, like unpacking his moving boxes finally in his apartment. A deep breath and a slow exhale. Alright. That would have to do for now. He pulls out his flask and takes a hearty swig. A second swig and it is slid back into his pocket. "Very well then. Let's give this another go." He rises and makes yet another attempt. Self-medicating is normally not the best of choices, but he figures that if his experiment will result in helping him, he can release his findings to the Division Four pharmacy for them to start production and help others like himself. Determined to not let this beat him, he continues to push himself to perfection. The attempts continue for some time before he hears some people out in the hallway chatting excitedly about somebody doing a captain's challenge. "That's nice. Hmm." He pulls out his smart device and queues up the security network. "Hmm ..." he clicks around on each of the divisions for a view until he sees that the battle in question is for the captainship of Division Eleven. "Oh? That should be a fun watch," he cheerfully notes and sets up a recording tag on the event and has it streamed to his DVR back at his desk at home and orders himself some dinner to be delivered around his expected return to his apartment. This will be most entertaining to watch. A stronger spiritual pressure can be felt before the words are even spoken by the vice captain's lips. Ikasu bows politely to Tanji. "Ohayo, Konichiwa, sir!" He stands back up and smirks with amusement. This would be far from the first time that he has been told that his lack of focus was because of disinterest. "Actually, far from it, sir. I simply have ADHD and it is just a different kind of challenge. I do get hyper fixated on certain things, however. Hmmm. I wonder. Is your network in need of upgrading? I am Third Seat Ikasu Yougan of Division Twelve. Although it is my day off, I will gladly take a look for you if you need it."
XXXXX"Our network? Last I checked the third division network was doing fine." Tanji responds to Ikasu's question with as he continues striking the wooden target. "but it's not like I actually use the network all that much i'm usually drowning in paperwork. Hell, I only have this opportunity to train because I off loaded all my paperwork onto the captain after they told me i'd be filling in as vice captain until Yuisis has recovered." He continues on with while his strikes start getting stronger and the sound of wood smacking against wood gets louder with each strike. After a particularly loud hit Tanji follows up with a sudden roundhouse kick to the wooden target. The block of wood makes a cracking noise as Tanji's foot dents into it then sends it flying into the nearby wall. Upon impact with the wall a large crack forms on the target block, then another equally large crack forms, then suddenly the block shatters into at least a couple dozen pieces. Seemingly surprised by the damage, Tanji says "Oh whoops, didn't mean to kick it THAT hard. Guess I need a new target now" He then walks over to the pile of debris and grabs as much as he can carry while thinking "Tho I should clean up this mess before I worry about getting a new target."

Ikasu nods as Tanji replies. He smiles and comments, "Well, that sounds good. I just dropped off my paperwork on my vice captain's desk since I am done with my duties until tomorrow. The scheduled security update will start rolling out around midnight. Don't worry, there will automatically be backups and the alternate networks will still be online so you should face no disruptions."
He watches Tanji train for a moment and chuckles. It amuses him that some people stick to the old wooden targets rather than the automated dummy return system. Some people are more resistant than others to progress. Nevermind, though, he decides and begins to stretch himself and do warm-up exercises.
"Nothing quite like an early morning workout before the apprentices begin their daily training," he says cheerfully. These workouts are always a good way for him to work off some excess energy and allow him to focus his mind for a while. A simple solution to a complicated problem, if only for a little while, and not always effective. No one method lasts forever, after all. Which is why he medicates and deals with it in therapy. One does not simply shrug off Attention Deficit Disorder without some form of effort put into it. He prefers to make use of it.
He leans forward and begins to dash as if spurred on by some unseen starter pistol. Pushing himself faster and farther he continues to run the track to master Flash Step. First, back and forth in the straightaway track and then in the courses. He pushes himself harder and harder, but only finds joy in the running. He has yet to break a sweat, which is a sign of how often he runs - which is every single day - and he has yet to reach that point.
After a good amount of track running, he takes his training to the obstacle run. It would be vital to not only know how to run faster but to be capable of dodging and weaving as needed. He begins to sweat as the automatons of the obstacle course begin to activate. This would be proving time. He draws his blade and blocks, chops, and stabs at obstacles in his way as he runs. A dummy drops in front of him so he smacks it with his sheath while slashing another. A training blade swings out at him, so he perries. This was not entirely without its difficulty, however, and a couple lands their blows here and there, but not without him retaliating reflexively. With each strike, he takes mental notes about which parts of the machine would need to be repaired. "Hah," he gasps as one strikes his ribs. He drives his blade point down into the top of it. A good training session often requires a struggle. He has a lot of training to do to regain what was lost during the accident years ago.
Ikasu's first attempt comes to an end and he stops to catch his breath and evaluate his scores and timing. "Hmm, time to shave off some seconds," he says and resets the whole thing. This time remembering where the traps, pitfalls, and dummies would pop out. He dodges, perries, ducks, leaps, and runs through the course as he laughs. This entire course was so much fun. "Well, that was a good workout. So, Vice-Captain, do you have a name that I can call you by? My name is Ikasu Kaze Yougan."

XXXXX Tanji finishes cleaning up the remains of his wooden target block just as Ikasu finishes running an obstacle course. He is slightly confused as Ikasu asks for his name and introduces himself again. "Didn't we already trade introductions? I could have sworn we already traded introductions. Or did I miss the fact that there were two different Ikasu Yougans? Well either way let me more formally reintroduce myself. My name is Tanji Masaki and I am currently the temporary fill in for 3rd division Vice Captain while Vice Captain Yuisis is recovering from her injuries." he responds with, seemingly unconcerned with either Ikasu's potential memory loss or potential replacement by a doppelganger. He then leans against the wall as Ikasu is about to respond and accidentally presses a button labeled "Combat Mannequin."
XXXXX Mechanical noises can be heard as floor panels retract and a platform is raised up to fill their place, on top of which is a metal mannequin with a single large camera for a face. A mechanical voice comes from the mannequin. "Please Select A.I. level for sparing." it says. "Um, can I cancel?" he responds with. "Error: Invalid Level defaulting to level... Error: Corrupted Configuration Data. Level 5 Selected. Beginning spar." echoes out from the robot after Tanji's response. The robot proceeds to rush towards Tanji and Ikasu. Well this sucks, but I guess I needed a new target anyway, so I might as well try this one out." he says before meeting the robot's first punch with a sudden kick. Unlike the wooden target block, the robot mannequin is not launched away by Tanji's kick. In fact, it seems completely unfazed by his kick and counters with a kick of it's own. Tanji is barley able to get out of the way for the kick as he is caught off guard by the mannequin's sudden increase in speed and perfect mimicking of his kick. A new voice then comes from the robot saying "Error: Safety protocols disabled. Limiters disengaged. A.I. Level set to Maximum Overclocking.""Um Ikasu you said you were par of the twelfth division right? Do you mind giving me a little tech support here? I am pretty sure all these Error messages are not a good thing."
Ikasu gives him a sheepish grin. "Admittedly my attention was elsewhere when we introduced ourselves. The upgrades and repairs on sensitive computers can be rather ... temperamental ... when they can attack you." As if on cue Tanji's hand lands right on the automaton's button. He stands there watching it with a mixture of surprise and amusement as it attacks him and then continues to go at him at full power. Not one to rescue a vice-captain and certainly one to enjoy watching somebody else train, he lets it run for a bit until Tanji makes it clear that this was not what he had originally had in mind. "Oh! Sure!" he calls out and rushes to the auto shut off switch and smacks it. The machine suddenly halts and stops just shy of landing a blow between Tanji's eyes. "Woah, that was a close one. Sorry, I wasn't sure if that was on purpose at first. You alright?" He starts to repair the machine as he awaits Tanji's reply. Ikasu is always best with something for his hands to do.

►Daisuke made a quick stop to get his camera for his interview. He heard that the squad 3 vice captain stand in was at the academy grounds. Daisuke saw the machine he was fighting but another shinigami stopped it. He remembered it was Ikasu the two of them were in the academy together. Hs had to admit he had a knack for inventing cool things." Hey sorry to interrupt. Hey ikasu long time no see. Looks like we both made it." He said with a smile before turning to Tanji and picking up his camera."Hey your the stand in correct. I am doing interviews on captains and Vice captains for our paper. So before we begin can you tilt your hat up a bit for the picture. " he said as he brought the camera up to his face waiting before he snapped the picture
S A W A K O ☤ H A G I W A R A Before making the venture to the Human World, Sawako would make her way to the Academy for a brief visit. Chances were high that they would run into trouble if there were Hollows on the prowl. While not a fan of fighting, she wouldn't have Sanada-san with her to keep her safe this time. As a vice captain, she would have to fend for herself this time...and potentially Tora if it came down to it. If something happened to that adorable fluff ball...she would have to live with the guilt of her own incompetence. A brief refresher on her skills couldn't hurt just to make sure she was prepared. She would slow her stride as she approached the grounds, coming to find a peculiar scene. Ikasu was here, tinkering with his machines again, along with a few other faces she didn't recognize. Perhaps she might have approached him to say hello and see how his machines were coming along... But then it seemed there was one of those "reporters" around and she rather not get tangled up in that. Moving past them, she would find a secluded spot on the other side to begin her little warm up.
Tora trots alongside Sawako with a cheerful expression on her face. Captain still hasn't given orders yet. Her patrol is complete for the day. Therefore she is wide open for some additional training. If for no other reason than to not embarrass herself or her sponsor. She pauses a moment when she sees Ikasu and ponders greeting him. When she sees that he has noticed her she gives him a polite bow and quickly greets him, "Ohayo, Yougan-sama!" The formality is because he is her sponsor's son and she calls him by Yougan because it is his public family name. She is unaware of the real reason why he has opted for that, but she believes that it is because he wants to climb the ranks on his own merits and not because his father is a noble and a retired judge. It never crosses her mind that it is because of the Aarendor incident - something that she was not in the Soul Society for since she was still trapped in the Beast Realm. "Great idea! If we train up good, we'll do some good hunting on Earth!"

XXXXX Tanji watches the automaton crumple to the floor and start spewing sparks after Ikasu pulls the emergency shut off. Ikasu then asks if he is ok before starting to repair the combat mannequin. "Yeh, I'm fine. Stuff like that tends to happen any time I try to use any electronic training equipment." he responds with, before his ears perk up at the sound of a new arrival to the training room.
XXXXX Upon turning to see who the new arrival is Tanji is stunned to see a face he has seen too many times in his paperwork. "Oh well if it isn't the 9th division's resident prankster. It would have been nice if I never had to meet him in person, but him bothering me right now is probably better than him bothering an injured Yuisis." he thinks as Daisuke begins speaking. After Daisuke asks him to tilt his hat up for a picture, Tanji tilts the back of his hat up so that the front comes further down and says "This angle should be perfect for the picture." as his picture is taken. "So you are interviewing ALL the captains and vice captain? your schedule must be pretty full with all those interviews." he continues with in an attempt to distract Daisuke from the from the picture, before turning to Sawako as she enters the room and attempts to hide herself from Daisuke's line of sight and saying "Did you hear that Vice Captain Hagiwara? So, what do you say to saving Daisuke some time by us both doing this interview at the same time?"
Through bloodshot eyes, Callum watched in mild surprise at the sheer amount of people that had gathered here today. Usually the academy was a much quieter place than this, and the amount of people here were sure to harsh the vibe in this place. He neded to study, though, so he would have to deal iwth it. He gave his quarterstaff a reassuring squeeze, his eyes narrowing just a little as a relaxed smile came over his face, thanking his lucky stars eh had his zanpaku-tou to get him through having to deal with such a crowd.
Doing his best to stay out of the way of the other shinigami here, Callum began to stretch. His stretching turned into sitting, and his sitting into people-watching, lazily. Before he had practiced a single spell, Callum found himnself sitting lazily in the corner, one head in his hand, watching as the other shinigami trained. One seemed to be conducting some sort of interviews, interviews of captains and vice captains, Callum overheard. He was glad he wasn’t someone with any significant rank, or maybe he would have to answer questions. He just didn’t feel up for it.
After a few minutes of watching, Callum shook himself from his stupor, and began to practice in earnest, doing his best to remember incantations to kidou he had practiced the last time he had been here. His memory had never been the greatest. Most if his kidou skill was in the more supportive kidou, to be sure. He was keen to brush up on his more offensive ones. He didn't intend to really use them, but making a fireball would be a cool trick to impress girls.
Ikasu grins broadly as Tanji explains his misadventures with electronic devices. "That sounds mighty inconvenient. Haha. Maybe you're like that Dresden fellow in the Dresden Files books." As he is talking Daisuke arrives and greets them. "Hey, Dai-kun! Great to see you! Yeah, look, third seat. Not bad, huh? You don't seem to be doing too bad yourself." He chuckles to himself as Tanji turns his camera toward Tanji and starts asking him to pose. "I hope you plan on giving me a copy of your article, Dai-kun." He glances over at Sowaku and Tora as they arrive. His vice-captain and his father's beneficiary, Toraneko. "Ah, hello, Vice-captain, and Tora-chan." He politely bows respectfully to Sawako and watches things unfold with amusement.

Lilith"The Clockwork Librarian"Sonozaki
Lilith Sonozaki, the Clockwork Librarian, had decided to step out of her hidey hole in the Twelfth Division laboratories to explore the Shinigami Academy and see what new knowledge she could add to her ever-expanding library. The young Soul Reaper was the sister to the, now retired and notoriously lazy, Achana Sonozaki. Well sisters in the fact that they arrived in the Soul Society about the same time. This was likely due to the fact that in their past life as the big bads of Las Noches, though it was unclear as to who or how they were purified. All of that information seemed highly irrelevant at the current time to the technology-crazed librarian. For now, things were just as well for her as they had been when she was a fearsome Arrancar, and she had all the status and recognition she could want for now. The lure of Captain was always tempting, but that meant responsibilities and things she cared nothing for. This quest for growth was purely self-centered and only purposed to help push her creations to a new level.
As Lilith walked through the Academy's main practice area, she saw a few familiar faces. Sawako, in particular, was her superior officer and she decidedly pranced around to avoid making too much of a show or to be halted in her advance on the particularly powerful spells and forbidden knowledge. The object was not to infiltrate that zone of the Academy, but to scan wit with her Zanpakuto's inner world so she could add the information to her own library for her personal study later. Though, it was not just her vice captain, but Tora, Tanji, Ikasu, Daisuke, and Callum. There were too many important and high profile people here for her plan to go off, so with a sigh of defeat, Lilith went to go practice her talents in the field of sitting with a book in her nose.
While she seemed to be doing the anti-social, reading and ignoring everyone, in truth Lilith was scanning through the book with her cybernetic eye and spying on her colleagues. It was easy to observe their behaviors and take note of which ones would be useful to her later on and who might be expendable in research projects due to their own evident lack of value to the librarian. It might have been a cold and analytical way to rank individuals, however, Lilith was not in the business of being that personable. She had priorities and that was using technology to keep everyone on a lifted playing field compared to their ever-evolving enemies, The Hollow.
