It wasn't like they were going to obey him long, but they thought they were safe for now, and that would have been at least partially true...if any of them even nodded or acted like they got any of his references! Mino Tsuneshi"I am possessed by the Spirit of Vengeance! Fear me fools, ahahahahah! -grk." Mino was just whipping his demon chariot crew again when he felt this overwhelming sensation take him. Suddenly a burst of fire roared from his hands, consuming the monsters that stood before him. Before he could ask why he would ever do that to such sweet creatures, a voice came from his lips that happened not to be his own. "Quite energetic, aren't we? But if you truly seek your vendetta...if you want to walk upon the corpses of those who dared to defile your dream, and embarrassed you, then call upon my name. I am the plague wind god, Pazuzu..." As soon as he heard the voice finish, Mino felt his mind clear again. He only took a few deep breaths before grinning. Yes...he could concur with that. He knew what power he wanted...that he'd been ignoring his hated rivals for too long! "I call upon you! Pazuuuuzuuuu! ...get it? It's a ref. Futurama? Nobody? Damn it you're all so uncultured!" Yeah, he was a little bit of a jerk. And just formed a pact with a demon to vengefully murder many humans beings to prove it, so yeah. "...The silence echoes through me, like the voices of the ones I've lost. It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."It was a ridiculous idea...tearing down the walls of Harutopia? Destroying the dream? As if such a thing was possible! From the ashes the phoenix would always rise! Or, well, he might have even been aware of the attack if he had been in the area when it came...but the word had come to him via one of the runners of May's corps in the Ashen Wastes and he had come just in time to see that Ellie had abandoned Troitown and the attacker had made some demands before bailing from the area and...word was he had been caught and killed somewhere by some enemy? An idea formed in his mind...it was crazy, wasn't it? Immediately he dispatched his medical corps (a couple of doctors who had joined Harutopia to protect their families) to gather up the wounded and hurt and tend to them...but one runner in particular he shipped out to find a certain person injured...on the verge of death...within the city's crumbling infrastructure.
"It's time to demonstrate to JPs that we're different from they are," the King of Harutopia spoke with a calm, calculating glare from the gates of his fortress, "Jack, I want you to investigate what's left of Troitown. It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."He had made a tactical error...sending his demons out to deliver messages had left the Capitol of Harutopia unguarded save for himself and a few soldiers...and when that had rolled in...he knew exactly what his mistake had been. Now, he had to protect his people...leaping up to strike at the thing called 'Septentrione', he drew its attention and then fled away from the building...knowing it was a suicide mission. Knowing that he didn't yet have what he needed to take this monster down, he still drew its attention and fled...only a matter of time until he was captured.
And yet as he ran, the King's visage gleamed brilliantly in the sunlight...his profile glimmering as he called back one last time to the citizens of his Harutopia who loved him so...

Minori Koroko  Okina. This place was as bad as Inaba...perhaps even worse. And when Makoto gave her a mission to investigate someone killing civilians there, Minori couldn't do anything but to accept. She would look for her friends after this.
She wasn't expecting to see such a big group of people fighting together... aside from the JP and the rebels, that was. This was completely different... and somehow it caught her attention.
Though, she was brought back to the real world the moment the Septentrione loomed before them, and as a young man with dark hair ran past her, luring it away from the base. "Wait, no! You'll only get killed!" She had a second to act... she saw the halo-thing glowing... and she knew it was now or never. The blond tackled him out of the way...but she wasn't fast enough to avoid it herself. She bounced off the floor once...twice... and then, nothing. His wounds were healing and someone had gone out of their way to keep him alive; Harutopia was a dream, and that dream would live on! Still, he had to save people...the girl, the guy he had to forgive to demonstrate something to that man...he had to start now, NOW!

He knew he had picked the right one! His smile beamed bright as the sun at midday as she swooped in like a Heroine at the last second and cast a revival spell upon the blonde who had saved him...that freed him from the sudden rush, allowed him to nod gratefully in her direction as he turned towards the area where he had been going before...to finish what he had started. If he was going to ensure the survival of Harutopia through the day against the forces of JPs, he needed a gesture...and this was the best one he could think of. "I believed in you...and you, Kuroko, right? Thank you.," the King smiled at his ally and the girl whose friendship had saved him despite the fact that they barely knew one another before taking off, "Keep an eye on the place...I'll be back soon!"
And then he was off, down the street landing at the side of a blond who was knocked down on the ground and clearly on the verge of bad things. By the story he had heard, this was the guy all right, which meant that he wasn't too late...but not by much. The spell was cast...and up he rose again, for good or ill. This was the risk he took for the sake of his kingdom's future, whether or not they agreed.

 Ellie Troit, Heroine! And saver of Harutopia! Alright, we did this before, we'll do it again. she thought, seeing the figure as he started to run out of view..trying to draw attention away from himself. She paused, before whipping out her phone.
"Hamsa!" she called, summoning the speedy, if strange duck thing.
"What do we say to the God of Death?" she called out, letting Haruto know that someone was there..That someone had come to his aid.
And it was none more than his trusted Governor of Troitown, the green haired, Heroine-attired symbol of Justice and love...

Or..that's what was going on, but he was saved by some blonde haired girl she didn't recognize. Just as quick on her heels, Ellie spun, and gestured at the girl.
"Hamsa! Change direction! Save that girl instead!"
The duck made a loud quacking noise, before sweeping Minori off her feet, and FLYING her out of the way rapidly.

It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."This time, the hero's welcome that greeted Haruto was nothing like the almost comedic one from before when they'd come back from conquering the Wild Duck Burger...this time the joy was real, the tears not of the crocodile variety...Haruto had risked his life to save his people from the Septentrione and nearly died for that move. And yet his people endured because of it, never expecting to see their 'King' again. Now that he returned, there was real jubilation as he entered the Capitol...the child who had brought him the raisins before and not even though of entertaining him brought him two whole BOXES of raisins...what a sweet kid, huh? Haruto smiled and patted his head, moving towards his 'throne' on the theater projection screen stage and sat down, exhausted.

And, as soon as she started out, she hummed a little victory ditty. Good was done, people were saved...

It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."In the midst of all the human-on-human drama, it was nearly forgotten that there were actual demon threats out there trying to encroach upon the borders of their burgeoning kingdom; the alarm sounded not long after the King had settled down to begin eating his delicious California Raisins and he was up from his throne in an instant, flashing across the distance to the door and out into the streets...his few combat-worthy followers who had made it back to the Capitol by now following him as they rushed to the nearest border where the demons were attacking. This time, their renewed vigor made their fighting spirits all the more formidable...and the demons were of little threat to the fired-up humans and their demon companions.
Haruto had fought alone, his devils still out on their missions...but flanked by so many trustworthy people, he was able to come through just fine. His lips curled into a smile as the work was done and they began to easy march back home. It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."At last the message came; Power entered the room and whispered the response to what he had proposed to the leader of JPs, earning a solemn nod from the King of Harutopia before he stood from his throne. Motioning for Power to remain behind and maintain order at the Capitol and assuring his people that he was just going out to take a look around, he slipped out of the door and moved down the road towards the spot where the Transport Terminal was...
...There, waiting, was the sharp-eyed leader of the organization that had sanctioned the attack on his own people...intentional or no...and this was a conversation that simply could not be avoided at this point. Yamato Hotsuin...Haruto Mashiba...they stood eye-to-eye and while one was intimidating and calm in his stare, the other was casual almost to a fault, cool and unmoved by the JPs leader's scary smile. He had seen far scarier things in his time...and this was a negotiation, not a fight. Though he wouldn't decline one if the government ace decided to pick one.
"You must be the eponymous Haruto of that ridiculous little group huddling together at the station. I expected someone a bit more full of himself...but I digress," the Leader began smoothly, almost impatient...and Haruto could see that he had better places to be, making drawing this out a fun idea, "And I expected someone taller...what? Got to respect the classics. And before you ask, yes, Star Wars is a classic..." "I didn't ask." "You were going to."
"Let me be blunt, then. I don't care what you and that little band of miscreants of yours do, so long as you stay out of my way. If you intend to cause trouble, start riots, or in any way impede JPs in its work, I will have you cleansed from this city like a disease. But stay out of my way, and you may live...at least, so long as this world continues to exist. Do you understand?" the Chief laid it all out there simply, and Haruto stroked his chin thoughtfully for a moment, his lips curling into a small smirk. So it was like that, huh? He could respect it...though he couldn't agree with everything, of course. "I don't have any intention of working for, or against you. We won't get in your way...but if by chance we do, feel free to come at us with everything you've got. We won't be caught off-guard a second time."
Yamato scoffed. Haruto smirked.
"Well then, let us hope this is the last time we meet. Farewell."
...
Yamato disappeared through the Terminal and Haruto couldn't help but sigh.

His lips curled into a faint smile as one of his patrolmen nodded and gave him the report when he drew close; a wave made one of the girls guarding the door blush slightly.

Jack Frost shouted as he tried to toss several snowballs into the air and continue rotating them...only to have them all fall and land on his head rather sadly. You'd think with a hat like that a Jack Frost would be a better court jester, but that just now was the best joke he had told all day! Haruto couldn't help but smirk at the little guy's enthusiasm.
"And now for the comed-hee styling oooof...Power!" the little snowman waved his hands at Haruto's guard and other demon...only to have the thing level him with a gaze that nearly melted him, "Okay! Back to the juggling, then! I think I've got it this time!"
