Blood had pooled around Lass as she stood there wild grin plastered all over her face, there was nothing more delightful than starting a fight, even if it was against an oversized snake and some stupid looking creatures. They could have honestly have been human all she cared a fight was a fight and as long as she could keep swinging her hammer around nothing really could stop her at this point unless they ran out of things to smack down which happened to be what the current occasion had presented. After the snake collapsed the creatures didn’t seem to linger but neither did Morgan.

Lass didn’t hesitate as she moved forward following him down further and further into castle, there was the question of what they were bothering to go so far down in the first place. The fighting was obviously still out there along the ramparts and so forth what good would something deep in the castle, unless it was something cool. A new weapon would be pretty nice, or even some sort of secret hidden path out of the castle to pull some sort of sneak attack from behind. Yes that must have be the plan she thought until the room came to sight.

Gold, gold, and more things that were obviously made of gold, all junk in the end really. Just some sort of trinkets that other than buying women and more weapons was completely useless. What was interesting was the fight brewing slowly, Lass watched with glee, as the great knights face grew darker and darker at one another, their voices getting louder as they kept referring to something called the door. What the door was of no particular interest to Lass, what was interesting was the fight that was now erupting among all of them.

There was no way she wasn’t going to miss out in joining this battle.

He ignored the child, turning to Noemi. "I accept this challenge, although you appear unsure."

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF MY CHARACTER
With dark brown hair and two days of stubble, Kostya is a rugged, attractive knight. Although he's not the tallest among the knights-- measuring in at only 5'7"-- his body is honed from the training he did in and around his native villages, sleek and whipcord strong. He prefers to work at range, utilizing a large crossbow as his weapon of choice.

In personality, Kostya leans towards the stoic, although a cruel streak in him leads to humor at other people's expenses. He traditionally carries around a small flagon of alcohol, acquired through whatever means necessary. He lacks true compassion, and cannot process empathy in any significant amount, leading him to take advantage of lesser folk-- by manipulation or force-- to get what he wants.

[Tommy Enter]
Actions: 0/3

What in the King's name had he stumbled upon in here?

He had been a bit late, falling behind the others as they all moved along down and down further to what appeared to be a treasure room. When he entered, it was to the tail end of an argument between the great knights, before all hell broke loose.

"W-wait! No!" Too late, the knights were at each others proverbial throats, and chaos erupted around him. Some were moving the gate, as Morgan wanted, others were attempting to stop them, while still others moved to attack or defend the great knights themselves. All of this, going on while all Tommy could do was stand back and watch, his hands clenched tight around his crossbow, his eyes wide and dismayed. This wasn't right. This wasn't how they should be behaving! Where were Lancelot and Galahad? Surely they would not be allowing such foolishness to transpire, had they been there!

But he knew, they were likely dealing with the siege that was still occurring somewhere up above, and that, for better or worse, this was the path that he had chosen to take.

And now he had another choice, it seemed. The gate had reached the mirror and strange things appeared to be happening within. It was too late to do anything about that now, but the knights, and those fighting them, they at least could potentially be stopped, or reasoned with.

Taking a deep breath, Tommy finally moved, towards Gawain, first, to see what he could do to help cease this madness.

[ ENTER: Alexei ]
(AP: 4/4)

Lex had stayed behind in the banquet hall just a little longer than some of the other knights, making sure his wards were completely healed and that they received proper follow-up care from any other straggling Knights. Water and alcohol were given to the worst cases, bindings to the rest.

He followed Gawain's herd from the back, tailing a few stragglers as he played what the Green Knight had said back through his head. The commendation bit had been nice, a smile brought back to his face. Alexei could only hope that he be recognized as a Knight soon.

But then there was the bit about the Sidhe, about Morgan playing with things he probably shouldn't be. It was concerning, knowing that there could be some sort of interloper among them, infiltrating their ranks and slowly unraveling the loosely wound bonds they had managed to form.

When he arrived in the room, the shadowed gate and the fighting only served to make his worries into panic. No, no no no. They shouldn't be fighting; this wasn't right! How could they hope to protect the many if Camelot fell to infighting?

Alexei saw Gawain under attack, and felt the need to defend the man. Perhaps, with his body as a shield, the Great Knight could help return neutrality and end the hostilities.

[Enter - Aiden]
(Actions: 0/3)

Aiden watched as the Greater Knights fought over what to do with the mirror and the gate. All three of them had good arguments but he wasn't sure who he agreed with in the end. On one hand, Morgan could be right in using the gate to stop the enemy and save a lot of lives. Innocent lives, comrades, everyone. As a protector that appealed to him greatly. It was just whether Morgan was right and using the gate was the right choice.

And on the other hand Gawain could be right in saying to regroup and get more information planned out first. Tactically it was sound and he was inclined to agree with the Great Knight that they needed to plan things out before rushing into them head on. But whether they had the time to do so or not was the big question there.

And then there was Percival. Protecting the gate could very well be the right idea as well. After all who knows what the creatures could and would to with the magical artifact and the missing King might have had a better solution. But should they spend all of there time and effort in just protecting a magical artifact with they could have used it?

All three made good arguments, and all three and flaws. The fighter in him wanted to agree with Morgan, the tactician in him wanted to agree with Gawain, and the loyalty he had for the King and Kingdom wanted to side with Percival.

All and all it was a tough decision and Aiden wasn't sure if he could make it right away. It would have been a lot simpler if the three Great Knights would just talk this through and maybe compromise a little. How they would be able to compromise to get all three options in he wasn't sure but they probably could come up with something right?

It was the treasure that started sinking first around the mirror, disappearing underneath it. Then, slowly, just a little bit at a time, the mirror too began to cave in, it began to distort and warp the walls around it as it crystallized, like some strange cocoon until it covered the far end of the treasure chamber. Within the cocoon was the gate, bleeding a thick black through the seals that had tried to contain it. The miasma was spreading, threatening to break free of the surface of the mirror, causing it to grow wildly and rampantly.

There was a loud crack.

And both mirror and gate simply sank into the floor beneath it.

[ Mildred Entering ]

The flickering of the torches' flames sent a searing ache from Mildred's eyes to her temples, a punishment she begrudgingly accepted. Perhaps she should have waited before attempting to drink alongside a knight of Robert's talent and stature; if she hadn't properly earned it, she deserved to pay this penance to her false assumptions.

She pinched the bridge of her nose in an effort to at least keep the pulsing bursts of starlight from creeping into her vision, and stuck close to Robert's side as they descended into the chamber, relying on him for some sort of guidance. She hoped that he would not deliberately walk into a cavern wall, at least.

When the echoes became discernible as voices, she clenched her teeth against their amplified sound. The ringing in her ears made it even more difficult to make out what they were saying, but she seemed to grasp the general idea of it, and slowly began to consider each new point. There was almost an emptiness in her expression, as though she was doing nothing more but recording, processing, and verifying every word.

It was only when they ceased their verbal discussion and opted instead for physical combat that she seemed to snap out of it, watching their battle with a frown.

They had no plan. This only validated her theory that the King was the only one who stood to gain anything from any of this. Whatever he might have wanted, it was entirely sensible that he would not have shared his preparatory tactics with anyone else, lest they find the opportunity to achieve it before him. They had no coherence among them, which indicated to her that there was a strong likelihood they'd all come to join the King for very different reasons. She and her fellow apprentices had presumably done the same - she still couldn't remember why, of course, but their vast and numerous variations in skill and character allowed for her to infer as much. A King had much to offer to his closest knights, of course, so it would have been simple to acquire the Great Knights as he had. Yet finding a mutual goal between so many individual entities of lesser promise could not have been easy. Unless, she supposed, he exploited the supposedly common enemy of the shadows.

So the King had manipulated them.

Her glossy, frigid stare passed over each of the knights, all remaining insistent upon solving this with combat. The Great Knights, solving what might easily be one of the most critical crises of Camelot to date, were declining logic and reason and calculated choice in favor of destroying one another until one answer remained by default.

No. It was clear now. She did not belong here, and never had. She had no place here in the present, nor the future, and pretending otherwise would result in her demise. This was evidence enough of this fact, and she was not foolish enough to delude herself into believing that she could emerge triumphant from a battle of this sort. Not when the strong and the powerful existed, carrying the volatile potential to disagree with her at any turn.

She glanced up at Robert, but remained silent a moment longer, still sifting through options.

The only thing she found any amount of certainty towards was that she wanted the sidhe, the shadows, all of the darkness to consume this wretched place. She could only hope that the King would be lost in the process; exploiting her, especially when such an action involved toying with her need to belong, was unforgivable.

Her eyes turned to Robert again, absent of the hints of dangerous contemplation that had been present only an instant before. Instead, she looked somewhat lost, seeking some kind of answer from him before she even spoke.

"Our relevance is in question, it seems. This kingdom is at war within itself. Will you opt to join them in combat?" Both the tone and hesitance of her words gave a plentiful sense of her opinion on that particular selection. "I will understand if you must, but I am afraid that this is no longer my path, and I can no longer consider this my place of--"

The throb of her headache brought forth a reminder of very recent events, whose retention in her memory had been hindered by the very same reason for the terrible ache behind her eyes. She pressed both hands over her mouth, eyes wide and troubled as she stared up at him, finally allowing them to migrate to her cheeks so she could speak.

"Robert." Her voice was hushed, but it was all she could muster forth. "Did...what of what I...what of our...us?"

[Enter - Robert]

Standing in the treasure room filled with their own fellow knights squabbling amongst themselves was wholeheartedly disheartening. Robert wanted to use that booming voice that had created avalanches just to shut them all up and stop them from this insanity. Even the Great Knights - especially the Great Knights, were against one another and forming groups of other apprentice knights to their side. Jagged splits were tearing the kingdom apart.

Mildred's query and explanation of her own choices made it clear that she found as little logic in the actions they witnessed as he did, but she couldn't see the horror on his face when she began to question whether they would have to part ways. His attention pulled down from the scene before them to look at her, and he pressed his hand against her lips to stop her from speaking further.

"Peace." He whispered. "You have nothing to fear. In no world would I want to engage in hurting our fellows. They're mad - just mad, if they think this is going to solve anything. It's got to be the influence of that contraption, that damn thing, look at it - "

And even as he looked at it, it began to warp, and turn the room into a trap that fell down out of sight. He sucked in a breath, and then tried to lean as far as he could to see where it had gone.

"It's too hopeful to think that's the end of it." He muttered under his breath. "That thing is the only true villain here."

He turned his attention back to her, and gave her a weak smile. "But what truly matters is that I refuse to leave your side. So where you go, I go. There is little else we can hold on to, in these trying times. But that, I promise you, only death can truly destroy."

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF MY CHARACTER The thud you are now hearing is the sound of ladies around the world swooning, and Sir Robert is not sorry. With a broad chest and muscular arms, he embodies strength and power, enough to wield his massive greatsword, [ THUNDERFURY, BLESSED BLADE OF THE WINDSEEKER ]. He totally will.
Physical Description: Sir Robert is draped in glistening knightly battle gear, covered by a silk robe that looks way too expensive for actual fighting, but that's fine - he dramatically rips it off before a fight anyway. This is immediately followed by a slow motion whip of his lustrous man of gold hair, that always seems to be blowing charmingly in the wind that doesn't necessarily exist.

[ENTER: Cress]

It seemed that he was a bit a late to the party. He had been held up on the main floor battling the shadow creatures that had poured in, but seeing many knights following Gawain out of the shelter, he had soon followed. There were still creatures about, but there seemed no end to them, at least if Cress continued battling the way he was. He would have gotten exhausted sooner or later, and having seen the expression on the Great Knight's face, Cress knew that what must be happening elsewhere had to be significant. He had slashed his sword a particularly large shadow crab and joined at the very end of the pack. Now, he was finally at where it appeared to be the treasure room. Why the Great Knights had decided to gather here was a mystery. Sure, the treasures themselves were very impression, but given that they were at war, wouldn't they want to gather at a better location? With a good view of what was happening around the castle perhaps? The fact that they were in all gathered in this place underground spoke much about how the battle was going. It had to be bad for them gather here. The treasure room was underground, but being what it was, it had to have thicker walls and doors than most of the rest of the castle; this room could be the room for the last retreat...if they were pushed to that point. Oh wait, nope, it was the questionably stupid Morgan who decided that it was a brilliant idea to come here to move some mirror and then apparently the other Great Knight did not agree. Just great. Just what they needed.

Many of the knights were fighting among themselves. It was utter chaos. He agreed with Gawain. This was getting stupid. So stupid in fact that some idiotic knights were attacking Gawain and Morgan. Cress wanted to face palm. Did they not realize that they needed all the manpower they could get? And frankly, the Great Knights were powerful, if not the bright, and worst come to the worst, they would protect Camelot. They simply had different ways about going about it. Not that Cress agreed with Morgan's actions, those had been very hasty and ill-contrived. The Great Knight meant well, but there had been something particularly idiotic in his actions. They had not reached the point that they would need to resort to such drastic actions that the Great Knight had taken. On top of that, something about Morgan's personality bothered Cress.

He shot a glance at Gawain. The Great Knight seemed to be faring well so far and would not be in any danger soon. There also seemed to be some knights around him defending. This was good. Cress would be annoyed Gawain was put out of action. That one was reasonable at least. Cress decided to move towards the crowd around Morgan to see if he could beat any sense into him. He heard a loud crack a bit further away which brought him to his senses. What was he thinking, attacking Morgan? That would be stupid. It would only make matters worse. He turned around and went to investigate where the loud crack had come from, just in time to see beyond a pain of knights battling each other, both mirror and gate sinking into the floor. There was a strange substance, what appeared to be the mirror smeared onto the far end of the treasure chamber. With a sinking feeling, Cress moved towards it.

A little disturbed from what he had seen in the mirror, Shun spent little time to climb back out of the hole in the ground. A hand was still placed over his face. Once he was back up, he looked around, taking in a slow and deep breath.

That wasn't right. And he had a feeling the mirror was not yet done. He moved to get away from it, and as he did, he gazed upon the other knights, still seeing in-fighting happening.

Something caught his eye. With a furrowed brow, he moved to get a better look.

Relief consumed Mildred at his (somewhat surprising) assurance that he had no interest in contributing to the fighting among their fellow knights. Though the corners of her eyes twitched as she looked down at his hand over her lips, hushing her words, she made no mention of any thoughts she might have had about this action.

Largely because the opinion of the gate and the mirror, both swallowed within the open maw of the cavern floor, made it somewhat difficult to think about anything else. He assured her that he would not leave her side, and that they would embark on their ventures in all things together. That she could rely upon this, if nothing else.

But could she, really? He had proven that he sincerely believed they each belonged by the side of the other, but there was more to that; this persistent, nagging sensation that he had not truly seen her. Not yet. And their conflicting ideas of the villain to blame only caused that concern to grow.

"Only death?" It seemed such a bold insistence on his behalf, which would not be pleasant to challenge. Especially because she could more and more clearly recall agreeing to...something...

"Are..." Oh, how uncomfortable this was to ask aloud! A blush blossomed across her cheeks, and her eyes broke away from his. "Have we become espoused, Robert?"

[ENTER: DIRGE]

It would be unfair to say that Dirge was completely smitten with the prowess that Morgan displayed in and out of the shadowy serpent. It would be more fair to say that Dirge was infatuated with the marvelous blade work and the craftsmanship of his serene fighting. Dirge wondered if he should not have followed Morgan's creed, with the rising sense of pleasure he gained simply from watching the man fend off the pulsating shadows.

But, Dirge reminded himself, he was not seeking battle - he sought glory and power, furthering his own reputation and making himself the overarching note on the score of the earth. Battle prowess could do that, he supposed, but even the fiercest warriors fell short at some point, and died. What was that old adage? Live by the sword, and die by the sword. Dirge would much rather die by old age, sickness, or maybe even poisoning by a powerful political enemy - a martyr and legend for the public.

Perhaps he should stop day dreaming, as the serpent had just been cut clean open, and the Red Knight was calling out to them, beckoning them onward.

---

Dirge had only watched, baffled by what in the blue hell was going on around him. Three Great Knights in a gridlock, those loyal and some not so loyal joining in the frey, and others trying to destroy this mirror and gate, while some were trying to move them. What was so important about this mirror?

The teen grabbed a knight by the shoulder, preventing him from entering the battle. "Why do they fight over this mirror and gate?"

"Did you not hear, this is more than just a mirror and gate, lad! It has the potential to destroy the shadow that attacks our beloved Camelot!"

"Then why do the Green and Blue knight oppose its use?"

"It could end us all. Though we may be immune, one of the sidhe could-"

There was a crack, an audio cue that the world was distorting. Soon the room was shrouded in a crystalline cocoon, and the gate spewed the same miasma as the sky. A part of the room sank, and things were becoming more and more grim.

How, Dirge asked, would he be the hero of this situation?

Sherry had followed Gawain, and then she’d tried to make sense of all she’d seen and heard. Gates and mirrors, sidhe- Sherry shook her head, trying to make everything fall into place in a way that made sense.

They’d been told not to trust anyone, told that manipulation was a tool employed by those that now attacked. Did that mean there was more to the enemy than what she had seen before? Perhaps. She shook her head again and took a step back, telling herself to stay on track. Right now- right now the problem was the chaos before them.

The terrible thing was, all of the Knights made sense. They needed to fight, they needed to protect everyone, and Sherry had to agree that the mirror looked dangerous. But who was the most correct? Was anyone deceiving them?

Sherry caught herself breathing just a little too hard. This was wrong. This was all wrong. Gawain had probably been right, the fighting amongst the knights was part of the plan. But then what could they do against it? There was chaos, and if the Great Knights could not agree, who could?

A loud cracking noise brought her focus back to the now, back to what was happening. The mirror, it had changed and more. Sherry moved towards it.

A high cowl or scarf always covers the lower portion of their face, meaning they're a little-bit muffled most of the time. They always carry a small corn husk doll, if only they could remember what it was for...
