Click to show.Wintershadow had been holding silent, considering -- though his ears were perked up and his pale eyes bright, no part of him moved except for his long hair that swayed gently in the breeze. He had been pleased to find familiar faces in the crowd (if not from the Vale, than at least descendants thereof), but his expression became quite pleased with the dark doe spoke in her rhymes. That was something he could appreciate.

"I'm not sure that voting for nobody gets us anywhere," he said, in as mild a tone as he ever used, "and I'm not sure that Merry Wanderer will elaborate on the rules any further." He considered for a moment, thrusting out his jaw, "but we haven't gotten much else to go on, to be fair."

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.So far, the votes were tied at 2 and 2 for Fire Made Flesh and Watch The Skies. No one else seemed willing to vote, yet, and Trouble has also kept her piece so far.

The dark doe who spoke in rhymes made a fair point, yet there was nothing gained, or lost, for that matter, by not voting.

"To be sure.... none of us are truly acquainted with one another in this game. Why... even those of us who may be familiar are strangers, now, perhaps, as we don the masks of our various roles wouldn't you say? Still..... I think it better to vote, than not. After all, is it not better to trust in some chance rather than no chance at all?"

The doe glances around at the other kin before her.

She had listened to the acha this time, but was paying attention to the important parts most, and was contemplating potential disguises. Mud, perhaps, to match her legs. And a little bit of red flowers thrown on for blood, too! After all, if the wolves already thought her dead, they wouldn't come after her.

"They've all got fine ideas, too," Apathy commented, nodding towards the speaking group from her new position on the floor. She thought aloud as she rolled, throwing up a wave of dust. "Somekin will die tonight, as sure as a frog'll fly when you throw it." (An unappreciative croak could be heard from the bushes beside her.) "The longer we wait, the more opportunities the woofers'll have. But as we are, there's a good chance we'll take out one of our own."

When she looked up again, her eyes were soaked with tears. "OH, SPOTTY. I COULDN'T BEAR TO LOSE YO–"

'Watch the Skies.'

Her head shot up at the familiar string of words, and she rolled to her feet. Considering she'd forgotten to actually find mud before she started flopping around, her coat was more dirtied than disguised. A cloud of dust fell whenever she moved.

She looked up.

Having already cast her vote, Snake Flower was happy- now- that the attention was off her. She took the time of the others' discussion to not only listen but also to observe. There were some that had yet to speak, and others that were all the more willing. Which ones, then, were the more dangerous? Snake let her gaze, again, fall onto Fire Made Flesh. She hadn't felt that he was antagonizing her, she was just a bundle of nerves that had a tendency to react before she could think. He seemed to simply be an older kin, set in his own ways. Surely he'd be an interesting person to talk to, should she ever get the chance? And, surely, choosing someone so obviously predator-like to be a predator wouldn't be wise. Then again, the predators were randomly picked. They could be anyone, without discrimination. And that's what made his game so hard.

"I think it's silly not to vote... that's the whole point of this game, isn't it? The only ones who wouldn't want us to vote would be a predator; to better the chance of their survival!" Again, Snake eyed The Once and Future King; sure that she was correct in her earlier deduction now that the doe had opted out of choosing and was, quite keenly, trying to get the others to do the same. She made a mental list of all the others considering not to vote; perhaps she was too used to thinking like prey.

There it goes. The game had finally started. For a while there, she had fallen asleep waiting for the announcement since there was just a huge gathering of meet and greets. And what's worse, she was bad at introductions.

Kiss of Death had not moved from her spot and remembered how she played this game before. Only did she open her eyes when she heard someone calling out " Spotty." What's this about having to move and survive? She slowly turned her head left and noticed a doe that looked like a cow and the other like she belonged in the swamp.

"Have you played this game before? " she asked the doe that was caked in dirt. Her eyes watching her every move as she tries to recall what she had learned a long time ago. She had a feeling that she was a new player. "Being silent will attract attention, however, being overly talkative raises suspicions too."

It was just a game. This was a fact that Peep had to keep reminding herself of as everyone began to discuss their options. It was just a game and that meant it was supposed to be fun, despite the setting being somewhat, well, morbid. No matter, she would go into it with a smile and play with high spirits. There would be no hard feelings on her end no matter what occurred.

Unfortunately the first vote was the hardest and they had nothing to base it on but first impressions. "But we have to vote," she said, continuing her thought out loud, "because that’s the game."

Peep looked at the buck and doe that were currently equal in votes with two each. If she wanted, she could sway it one way but it felt unkind to do so. There was clearly more to the buck than his visage let on and in truth she found him quite handsome and a little bit thrilling. The doe seemed proper and a good conversationalist. Her hair, Peep had already noted, was utterly perfect. In any other situation, she would have dearly loved to get to know her more. Choose between them? Well, no, she didn’t really want to.

"I’ll vote The Once and Future King. If we abstain from voting we might as well not play," she said cheerily, nodding her head in apology at the doe. That also brought her equal in votes to the other two and Peep had saved herself from making a more difficult decision.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Apathy considered the question, her brows furrowed and her tongue sticking out of her mouth. She hmm'd, the sound growing in intensity until she was practically vibrating on the spot. Finally, "Nope!"

It sounded as if the doe had some experience, however. Apathy gave her her full attention, as evidenced by the fact that she began throwing flowers in the air to catch them with her head. "So not too silent, but not too loud, either?" She laughed, and what few petals she'd caught fell back to the earth. "That's great!"

At this point in time, she didn't think she could choose from that alone; nonetheless, she turned to look back towards the crowd. A vote offered them a slim chance, which was better than nothing; this had already been said, though, and did not bear repeating. As for the rest of her thoughts, "It's still early, isn't it? With nothing to go on, we're taking a huuuge risk. So, I don't think it's unreasonable to abstain, but...!" Pause for effect. It was her first time really being vocal, and she scratched her ear with all the grace she could muster. "I think it's suspicious to commit to it so soon, without trying to find the wolves first. My vote goes to The Once and Future King, too."

((I think you're doing great! ♥))

Night took note of the names being thrown out. Of those named, he hadn't formed an opinion one way or the other. It would appear though, that speaking up put you in the line of fire. Night's choice was to not follow the current focus. He would choose another's name.

Night observed those that hadn't yet voiced an opinion. Whether shy, or cunningly observant, he couldn't tell yet. Perhaps naming them would bring them out into the open.

"I vote for Unsung."

Look-See really should have reconsidered how her near-blind state would do in a game where she could not see the opponents very well. Making the rounds and ruffling a few feathers, she got into some of the other kin's personal spaces and faces with a quiet apology given as smoothly as she perturbed them.

Echoing the name she heard the most, she cast her vote. The sooner she did the sooner she could move onto something she actually was good at. "Fire Made Flesh is my vote" she stated soundly at some brown things she hoped were kin. He had smelled of something acidic.

Trouble had waited for something else to go on before casting her vote but the truth is that she already has a good idea of where her suspicions lie. Like others, The Once and Future King's insistence that they not vote cast her as suspicious in Trouble's eyes.

"I vote for the doe who rhymes and seems keen on distracting us," she glances at the doe, then. "I hope my vote proves correct." She smiles faintly and steps back now that her vote has been made.

Perhaps Night had the right of it though, too. It would be safe, after all, for anyone who hadn't yet spoken up to remain silent... to some extent. After all, so far the ones who had been voted for the most had been among the most active....

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.At first, Sleepless had been more concerned with keeping herself in the vicinity of that most-fascinating tree-Kin...but as the others around her ventured their opinions, her analytical nature began to spiral its grasp around her brain, and, listening keenly, she turned the rules over in her head, collecting hypotheses and considering options.

"With all of us still in the running and little to base our opinion upon" she finally stepped out to say, "the probability of voting off a Kin designated as prey is substantially higher than voting off one designated as predator. Therefore, by this consideration, The Once and Future King would appear to be acting in the interests of prey."

She regarded the doe thoughtfully for a moment, before continuing, "But I would venture that it is, rather, Kin nature, for one designated prey, to consider at an early stage like this that it would suit prey better to strike at random, for whether predator or prey be taken, numbers still remain on the side of prey, while choices would only become increasingly fraught as we progress - and no matter what we do, one of us will fall tonight. A pre-emptive strike in the day may take down a predator, but if it does not, at least there is still room for error, while if we do nothing our numbers will steadily deplete. For the Once and Future King to have thought the situation through and arrive at the previous conclusion, this one is unlikely to have escaped her. Therefore, I consider it a real possibility that she may be playing the long game for the predator side."

Whether or not The Once and Future King is predator or prey, to voice an early opinion for non-voting and then assure us that she is not a predator, furthermore in such attention-attracting manner, is behaviour that certainly marks one as a suspicious individual. Surely a predator would never choose to draw attention to themselves so? However, that may precisely be the point - to appear too obvious a target to choose. To hide in plain sight. But more importantly: by their initial presentations, their arguments will only render their motives and identity more and more confusing as time goes by. To forestall future complications, I postulate that it would behoove us to eliminate such a variable from the get-go, rather than risk further argument and forego future chances to make more valuable decisions."

Finally, while there are still many of us and many options, it is most efficient to vote for one who already has a reasonable number of marks to their name, so that we may be sure an action can be carried out at the end of the day. With all these considerations in mind, my vote is for The Once and Future King."

And then, realising just how many Kin there were, she froze, darted a wide-eyed gaze around, and hurriedly retreated back behind the tree-Kin. What was she doing. She wasn't even really sure of the rules. What if she'd gotten them all wrong? What if she'd made a fool of herself?! Maybe they would vote her off and end her sudden misery.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Bitter End had been waiting for the game to begin before the paranoia got the better of her. The start had given her a few palpitations - but the petty squabbling calmed her musings. It was either much better or worse when others were being more dramatic than she was, but perhaps due to experience (or conviction), she refrained from an even more self-absorbed tantrum, and instead gave the choice some thought.

Some thought, unfortunately, being how likely it was that the tree-kin was actually going to insidiously kill them all in the course of the game. Judging from his slow movement, it could be unlikely, but who knew what else he was capable of? Who knew whether the trees and shrubbery around them, indeed, could possibly be kin, and kin to him, waiting to execute the Motherfather's ironic will?

She then considered how to say this in a reasonable fashion, completely missing Sleepless' entire spiel - whether it was because she felt her ex-companion was too fascinated by that suspicious Kin to be reliable, or that she was simply too used to tuning out her voice too, no one would ever know...

"Attempting not to cast judgment on our generous host," she said to whoever would listen, indicating the organizing acha with a nod, "I feel, perhaps for some, the assigned roles will would be contrary to their...disguise." Her hoof raised to point at the Kin that seemed to be formed of bark and moss. "I nominate the slow-moving fellow over there. His look is familiar and close to our hearts, earthy, green and symbolic of the Motherfather. He might just be a predator because he is unexpected."

End did not know Story's name, but unfortunately for the poor buck, she certainly had her eye on him.

Neither Nor had taken their time, listening to the introductions, the gossip and finally the game intro itself before really settling on whether it was a decent use of their precious time.

In the end they got wrapped up in the quick moving discussion and the flurry of accusations and debate already flying among the pack of kin. With a roll of their glowing eyes and a flick of their fringe Neither Nor joined in the fray. "Well I know who my vote is for." They bit off the words sharply as their eyes focused on The Once and Future King. "Abstaining from voting literally achieves nothing. Doing something, even if the choice isn't clear is still better than wasting your time."

Plus that rhyming habit they had was already grating on Neither's nerves. How much energy did they waste trying to come up with that mess every time they wanted to say something?

Blooming Sunrise watched as the others continued to debate on who to vote for. She certainly agreed with the others that it was better to vote than not... After all, the point was to eliminate others in the game. And that went for both sides really. You had to be sure to thin the numbers in some way. Though she wasn't really sure who to vote for herself. It was apparent who the top runners were... And it would be better to simply vote for the ones who are on the top. One of them were more likely to end up out even if she decided not to vote. Maybe it was easier not to vote?

She certainly had a dilemma of her own to think of. But, taking a deep breath, she made her decision.

"I shall cast my vote for The Once and Future King as well." The reasoning behind the decision for some was very clear and concise. It certainly convinced her of a good reason to vote for them. And, although not voting did seem like a good idea, strength in numbers and all that, voting was certainly the best of both worlds. You didn't want to end up leaving too many potential predators after all...

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.At least they were doing something and there was no more talk about voting for no one. Ridiculous. Why come to a game, knowing it was a game, only to decide not to play? Sun Sinks Down shook her head again at the thought.

The little voice at the back of her mind was woken by that shake, and it piped up, pointing out that standing against everyone was a very poor tactic if you wanted to survive the game, and wasn't that the point as the acha had said? The rhyming doe probably hadn't meant to get herself voted out first. Had she? Probably not. Probably.

"You should vote," she confirmed to Wolf Dream. Look where not voting got you. "I'm voting for her too," Sun Sinks Down called out, with a nod toward The Once And Future King. "Sorry, but that really was bad advice."
