"Faaaaancy that." He splashed her just because he could and grinned. He added his own middle finger to the pool as they parted, inspired to be a little rebellious the longer he stayed with Maebe.
As they entered the room full of statues and shards of light, he felt something tickle the back of his neck. Insects? Hissing in his ear suggested otherwise.
"Kinda wish we had a torch now..." Maybe it would illuminate the path they were probably supposed to use or something.

Her hands flew up out of instinct when water droplets hit her skin, and she laughed, as if she didn't have a care in the world.
Then she gasped, her body arching as the tip of a white horn peeked out from the skin of her side, where it had just impaled her. It rose her up in the air, carrying her off with it as it charged for Dawson as well.
And that was officially when all good feelings were gone.

He had to hand it to the stag: it had a lot of strength to basically spear and carry them both off like that. The awe held for maybe a second before the pain hit and he regretted everything.

Dawson was starting to wonder if they should just go shirtless for the first part and then put their clothes on for the rest, that seemed to work the first time.

Maebe would have cracked him upside the head if he thought for one second that any part of the trip should include shirts. It was a good thing he kept those thoughts to himself.
