She been giving some more thought to the contests after Du's line of questions. She had an idea of how to run them and what she had to do but know almost nothing about the work involved for preparation such as poffens and the grooming. The peace and quite of the darkening woods would make for a great chance to research it and learn where she had to improve if she wanted to get any sort of recognizable reputation within the coordinator world.
Finding the basic's wasn't hard but she quickly realized how much more work contests where compared to simply gym battles. In a gym battle little things such as shampoo and conditioner didn't play any sort of role. In a coordinator contest, it would mean victory or defeat.
Taking notes as she read following the basic out line that it would be easier to take on the Beauty contests first and advance to the other four types when the rookie coordinator had at least three to four ribbons under the vest. Cute was another good contest type to start with it seemed.
With her research finished Sonoko stepped into the porch to reharness Gogoat so they could get back on track to the first contest hall. After which point she returned inside as the wagon jerked into motions. She had one last item of business to take care of. Retrieving Milotic and Dragoniar.

Aston didn't necessarily know what to think. During the day, Meleeon was mostly docile. But, once the sun set, he was much more aggressive. This was certainly an interesting Pokémon. Still, he didn't have a name, though. It wasn't long before Meleeon spotted another Starly and went after it on his accord. Hm. Meanwhile, Aston got out his PokéDex when it gave off a beep and saw that Sofie had contracted some sort of virus. It was supposedly harmless to the infected Pokémon, but still. It was suspicious.

It looked like the infection was naturally cured, but there was a problem. Sofie was much stronger than he thought she'd turn out to be. If wouldn't be an issue if there was the running risk of disobedience. It wouldn't be long before she was too strong for him to manage as a trainer. Damn. Theodore's concern wasn't unfounded after all."We should be fine for now....But, I shouldn't take any unnecessary risks."He could make his way to he first gym. But, would his team be able to handle it? Aston wasn't so confident they'd be able to. Especially Meleeon, who could be taken out in one hit. What type did the first gym leader specialize in? Why hadn't he paid more attention to Theodore's excited rambling? He'd have learned something.

Huh. So, Meleeon was sluggish during the day, but he was fast and stronger at night. So, they were nocturnal. That made sense, given the name of his ability. Seemed like Meleeon was a lot more aggressive during the night, too. Interesting.

After his observation, Aston decided it was best to let Meleeon train at night. That way they got the best results. Even though he was more aggressive, he didn't turn his aggression towards Aston, so he wasn't too worried about being attacked himself. Though, he felt sorry for the Pokémon that Meleeon chased down and challenged.

Gavyn scrambled out of the lab, Merlin close behind him. That was certainly a stressful experience! He still felt incredibly embarrassed that he didn't understand the supplies that the professor had told him to take. Everything was just... so different. It was overwhelming. "Calm down, Gavy. Let's meet our new team mate." Merlin prompted his trainer. The brunette blinked, straightening out to fumble around with the pokeball that Rowan had handed him. Eventually, he figured out that he had to push the button, and the turtwig was released. "Turtwiiiig~" it exclaimed, happy to be out and about. "I-it's cute... Er... Merlin? What gender is it?" Gavyn asked his Clefairy. "Girl." Merlin responded simply after conversing with the grass type. The bespectacled male crouched down before the turtwig, holding out his hand. "Hi there. I'm Gavyn. I'm going to be your trainer from now on." He told the grass starter. The turtle tilted her head, looking up at the male before jumping forward to shove her head against his hand. "Turt!" she exclaimed. It startled Gavyn a bit, but he smiled and let out a gentle laugh. "It's nice to meet you, too. I think I'll call you Elizabeth. That would be Beth for short. Is that alright with you?" he asked. "She likes it." Merlin confirmed after the turtle trilled with excitement.

Gavyn was happy to now know that his starter was quite a fine grass type, as far as he could observe. She was sturdy and had a healthy green to her leaves. And she was quite adorable. Beth was more than happy to stay out of her ball, investigating nearby plant-life before bounding back over to him. "So. Where do you plan to go from here?" Merlin questioned his trainer. Gavyn played around with the sleeves of his sweater, fidgeting a bit. "W-well... it might sound a bit silly but... It feels too far away from home here... I was thinking of going to Kanto..." Gavyn responded, shuffling a bit. Merlin smiled, but shook his head. "That's understandable. Kanto is where you are most familiar with the area, so... We can just start there. We can come back to this region when you feel more comfortable." Merlin told his trainer, then pointed over towards the train station. "This way to Pallet."
