The male thought for a moment at her question, muling over the feeling and trying to recall if there was a time it applied to his life. Perhaps in similar fashion to a deja vu,
"...No." He finally decided on, his features soothed out into his normal neutral expression. "At least not in the same way. I have felt coincidences, such as yourself being very similar to your father. But nothing that cannot be explained." He was far more logical however, less keen on going with emotions.
Like noticing her fretting over the housing situation. It wasn't based on feeling that he knew, but rather the subtle clues she provided. The fiddling with her hair, her pulling in her wings. What he was about to say next he might come to regret, however... "I believe the place next to mine here is vacant. If...you wanted to move in there, you could visit me when you feel alone." This was quite an offer from him, essentially agreeing to let her into a piece of his life. It was a fair compromise as well, so that she was close but not living in his place.
After all, he had to take care of Kurts daughter, it was the least he could do as a friend.
Raken took another sip of his tea while inhaling the sweet smell of their rabbit. Not too much longer until it was done. "Same here. I enjoy seeing someone doing something they're passionate about."EvilSilverdragon I can see it now if she wanted to move next door. She'd just keep visiting and visiting until she practically lived there anyway XDD

Huh. The no was accepted from there without need for further explanation. The twins had stars on them like her siblings and father. That could have been it, just like he saw the similarity between herself and her daddy, the stars were similar. That was as far as the connection went and she certainly didn't follow the thread.
It was a slow build as the excitement over his offer built with each word. He was so kind to offer to allow her to visit when she was lonely. Practically bouncing in place, she moved oddly, like walking forward and being restrained. They both had tea, it wouldn't do to spill it! Instead she gave him a kiss on the cheek and gleefully responded, "That would be great! I'd love to live near you!!" It didn't matter what the house looked like, being around Raken was wonderful.
Already she felt comfortable in his home, now he invited her to come over and stay close. Really he was the nicest pae not related to her that she'd ever known. The memories of Wolfwood lay far back in her mind, Raken being near occupied the most of it.
"It is rewarding, to use the Guardian given passions for the betterment of others." Her only true passions were the Guardians and being near others. That someone as wonderful as Raken just walked into her life just reinforced it.Tartara Seabreeze Its like being inoculated, he'll slowly get so used her around that she could move in and he'd not notice blaugh There could be seditious pae about, best keep an eye on her~

After he spoke his piece, the male watched her for the response. He got much what he expected. The uncertainty turned into glee as she shuffled even closer to him, closing the mere foot between them to nothing. He moved to set his tea down for her impending tackle, but a hug was not what he received.
Rather a cheek kiss.
It was so sudden he didn't have the chance to pull back, and he felt his face heat after the contact. He would need to somehow tactfully keep from Menolly getting too physical with him in the future, lest Kurt attempt to punch his face in like he wanted to with his dear brother. The old angel was reasonable in many things, but when his daughters were concerned listening went straight out the window.
"Alright. If there's any large furniture or boxes you'd like help moving, let me know. It'll be a good excuse to get moving." As it was his daily training had to be greatly modified to suit his living quarters. A house was far smaller than the fae clearing he was accustomed to. "I can also provide a work animal if you can get a wagon, so we can move more things at once." As a quick demonstration, he set his tea down with a deep breath. Within him he searched for the darkness in his soul, pulling it inward into a ball.
The shadows from the surrounding pots and cabinets slid towards him in answer, clumping together to writhe under his command. They twisted and pulled as he molded his internal ball like clay. A shape finally took hold.
A midnight cat. It sat on the counter top, seemingly eyeless. Featureless. Only the distinct outline and pure blackness within. "Meoww~" The shadow cat purred as it's tail flicked beside it.
"Do you like cats? Should have asked that first, else I would've done a dog."Evilsilverdragon XD he won't notice until months later when she somehow convinced him to sleep in the same bed. After all, that's the best way to keep an eye on her.

His offer was a very generous one, but it was one that she had to decline. "I don't own anything to move, but thank you!" Would the other house have a bed in it? The floor would have to do if that was all there was. Between living with someone already established and her lack of need for material things, there was nothing to take with her. She could live with nothing and be content so long as she had someone with her.
In this case she'd have neither but Raken would be close.
He distracted her as the shadows started to move. With wide eyes she watched a feline appear from the shadows. Nearly cooing she asked with hardly restrained excitement, "Can I pet it? Its so adorable!" If he could make this, could he make an alpaca? Oh she'd have to ask, but first there was an adorable cat.
An animal as a whole could be a solution for when she had to be alone, though the idea of being alone was still too dismal.Tartara Seabreeze Falling asleep together reading together reading books, or perhaps a few nightmares sending her his way. He won't know what he has gotten into until its too late xd

"Nothing? Not even books?" That was unfortunate. He himself did not own much inside the house, a few cooking utensils, some furs and books. But as simple as his life was, he apparently owned more than her.
Of course he owned more still in his cave home. But that was a long ways away. Raken gave the shadow cat a quick look before nodding, both for Menolly and for the cat so it knew it could be petted. Each of his shadow animals had a personality and a free will until he mastered it. "You may. Smaller creatures such as it I can maintain for a few minutes longer than larger ones. Takes less effort." But of course, they were all temporary. The times did get better with training, but none could be kept indefinitely.Evilsilverdragon You don't understand Kurt! She couldn't sleep otherwise! XDDD

Shaking her head she elaborated, "I borrow from the library." Borrowed books were not hers and she didn't keep anything beyond the time she needed them. Given more of a choice she'd have a stuffed animal zoo, lots of comfy chairs and warm blankets. It was just living in a home that wasn't hers made collecting anything seem rude.
There was a cat to pet, all other things could wait! Reaching out she joyfully petted the shadow cat. Each touch was feather light out of a fear that she would cause it to dissipate faster by carelessness. "You have an amazing power!" It would be dangerous for her to have this power. There would be shadow animals everywhere!Tartara Seabreeze Poor Kurt would understand but wouldn't have to like it! heart

"I understand. The books from my personal collection came from Headquarters, but admittedly by now I've read them, and reread most of them." That was the issue with having a finite reading source and yet being an avid reader. Which was a high perk for him having access to the library and reading fresh literature.
When she reached out to touch the cat, she'd notice it was very solid indeed, and felt much the same as a feline would. Soft fur, slim body. It head butted her hand to get more pets. Should her hand linger however, the lack of warmth would become evident. Being made from shadows and held together with magic meant it could not radiate heat as would any living creature. "Mrowwww." Its purring became louder at the attention.
"Thank you. Not many get to see it. The element of surprise could be a valuable tactic in a fight." If an enemy knew what he could do, they could potentially make steps in combating it.
Raken moved to grab the rags that had been used to put in the roast.EvilSilverDragon Not at all! I started putting in that Raken would give Menolly a book to keep, but he stopped me XD Being a neighbor is alright, but his books are his!

At the moment the shadow cat had her full attention. Without looking over to him she asked, "Would you like to go to the library with me one day?" That would be a fun day. They could suggest titles to one another discover books they may not have thought to look at before. Alpaca book was on the top of her list now. One on ranching would also be a good idea so when she saw her father again she could help him. Once the Guardians fixed the isle below to make it safe, of course.
Giggling, the angel thoroughly enjoyed the purring shadow creature. It was probably not possible to spoil a magical shadow, but that wasn't going to stop her from trying! Stroking the cat she cooed more at it talking about how adorable it was.
Remarking out of her own understanding she stated, "It is a wonderful power! It would be so neat to have one like it." Or at all. She had no power of her own for some reason. There was no faulting the Guardians as the fault was surely with her. Tartara Seabreeze A library date, gonna be hard to say no to that one~ blaugh She also does have a power, if she touches a pae she is immune to their power ie a pae that could heal wouldn't be able to help her after she touched them. Being passive she doesn't know about it just assumes she doesn't have one.

"I don't see why not. We can go there when we go to the mess hall." They had already discussed grabbing foot together there sometime, so a trip to the library would kill two birds with one stone.
A corner of his lips twitched upwards as she coo'ed at the feline. "I think it likes you." He walked over to the roast and reached in with the rags to pull it out of the fire. Then carefully set it on a stone slab on the counter. "Oh it's quite beneficial when a creature is mastered, but obtaining it can be...tricky." There was two ways he could master an animal. Play their game, or steal a real creatures shadow.
At it's mention the little mellon that fluttered around his head snickered. It knew all too well how he was doing things the hard way for longer than he cared to admit. "If you don't mind me asking, what is your power? Tit for tat."Evilsilverdragon I was thinking about her power and Rakens XD would that mean that after she's done petting the cat, she won't feel his shadows anymore?

He agreed! Happily, though lamely she added, "That will be a lot of fun!" There were few more perfect days than spending them with another. Going to the mess hall and the library in one day was just magic. Utterly thrilled, she completely forgot the living alone situation.
Smiling brightly at Raken she affirmed, "I really like it, so cute!" A fearsome shadow beast probably wouldn't want to be known as cute. Cute could be deceptive, watching toddlers proves that one. Her eyes went first to him as he explained the work that went into mastering the skill. Thoroughly impressed, she looked back to the cat and playfully asked, "Did you behave? Of course a wonderful kitty like you did!" Giggling to the cat, she did add on a more serious note, "Nothing worth doing is easy." It was the work and the hard times that could make the outcome worth holding onto.
His question was a far one but not one she had a good answer too. "I don't have a power. I did the initiation and Madaesos glowed but" Holding her hands out as demonstration she finished, "Nothing. I must have missed something. All I have is what every Guardian loyal pae has." Eyes downcast, she felt like a failure. Here she was admitting to one of the Guardian's chosen that she failed. No blessing because clearly she hadn't earned it yet. What horrible thing must she have done to fail the Guardians? Tartara Seabreeze I relooked at the power she has immunity to the special power of any pae she touches. For this I would think because she believes she can touch the cat and its not being used on or against her necessarily it should be alright.

He nodded in agreement before she started talking to the cat again. Behave? The demon barked a quick laugh before stifling it, quickly shaking his head. "It made me race it the first time. And it scratched me."
"Mrowwl." The cat happily purred, rolling onto its back as if it were a truly innocent little kitty.
"Hmmm...Is your mellon no help? Typically they have insights to your power." He spoke with a bit of a frown. It must be frustrating for the angel, to have gone through the ritual and receive nothing. Not even knowing what she had done wrong to rectify it. "Perhaps the Guardians have bigger plans for you outside a power."

"Ooo" she coo'ed at the cat before adding, "I am sure it was just playing." The little shadow cat was just so cute. It was hard to picture it trying to scratch or harm anyone. The innocent kitty act was bought hook line and sinker.
It distracted her enough that she almost didn't frown at the thought. "No, all it said was 'I will be protected'" Lovely thing, that vague mellon. It didn't seem overly fond of her attentions and most the time she forgot it was there, when it was there.
He said a secret hope of hers, "I'd like to think they have a good plan for me, I do so want to serve." There was too much ego in that statement thus shame. The guardians had great followers like the Knights and Raken, there was no need to plan with the likes of her.Tartara Seabreeze I like the weakness, doesn't work on physical attacks. I just picture some pae she's touched through magical shadow balls at her, getting frustrated that they aren't working and just walk up and punch her. Kurt naturally doesn't like that idea.

Playing. Right. Shaking his head in defeat, he opened a cabnit to pull out two plates. "You get the mellon that you need, not necessarily the one you'd want." It took a while for his own to get into it's head that if he wanted any help, he'd ask for it. And conversations were generally a no.
He fished out a fork from a drawer along with a sharp knife. "How much did you want?" Raken spoke with a nod to the cooked rabbit.
At the delicious smells, the shadow cat perked its head up in curiosity.

Looking up from the cat, she answered, "I don't need much, a little bit of meat and a lot of vegetables, please." It would be sad when the shadow dissipated, but even sadder when she had to walk home. Raken was so nice to her, and had the most amazing power ever.
The little shadow cat was just a marvel. Curious enough to ask, she queried, "Do they have the same personality every-time you summon them?" They weren't living and she knew that no matter how much she'd love to keep this cat forever. It still reacted and showed at least some personality. Would this 'cat' come back if he re-summoned it or would it be another 'cat'?

He nodded at her request, setting down the plates before tending to her serving size. She then brought up an interesting point, one he hadn't previously thought about. It gave him pause, knife hovering above the roast as he thought about his encounters.
He never used his creations for companionship; only ever summoning them for training or out of necessity to use their abilities. He knew they remembered previous actions as he wouldn't have to re-explain tasks they had already accomplished. But personalities...was never something he took note of until then.
"...Yes. I believe so. Whether they always reflect a personality trait from myself, a copy of the original hosts personality or if it's the presence of an actual soul I'm unsure. The bear has always been a gentle giant, the cat mischievous, and the bird shy." Though they could always reflect generic behaviors from their species, the fact that he never saw anything different from them pointed differently. Such as the bear was never aggressive unless he commanded it to be so. These thoughts opened up a whole new aspect to his power he had never considered looking into previously. "Thank you Menolly for mentioning this. I'd never have thought of it otherwise." He resumed spooning out the meals onto two plates, until he was satisfied with the amount. The demon then picked up her plate to hold it out. "Today has been quite remarkable amongst a lot of rather mundane weeks."
