"Mm..." He didn't apologize for pushing her; he did need to know. But none of the places had any common link as far as he could tell, and knowing this had happened multiple times only made him feel more uneasy. If the observations only lasted a few days, fine--but he was going to get to the bottom of this, one way or another.

"I should get back," he said, letting his hands start to slip away from hers as he stood up. "Drink some water. Possessed or not, you need to keep hydrated."

And like that, he was leaving her again. Her hand twitched, unsure why the warm weight had been taken from it.

"Okay." What was she supposed to day? No Jack stay forever- that would go over well.

She didn't move for the drink all that quickly. She just put her hand back in her lap and went back to staring and blinking slowly.

"I'm serious." He waited, welcoming the excuse to linger and nitpick. "It'll help with any exhaustion as well," he added, because that was what they both really needed: sleep.

Her fingers curled around the cup. The plastic betrays the ice cold water and she frowns. It isn't warm like Jack's hand.

She doesn't drink. This is enough.

He was 80% sure she'd just put it back down once she was alone, but it would have to do.

"I'll check on you after my shift," Jack promised as he adjusted his scrubs and smoothed his hair. "Get some sleep, Craft." And then he turned to leave.
