Victimology was such an interesting science... To take the details of a person's health and history in order to form a profile for possible suspects. It was so incorrigibly human. He loved it. When would the day come that a person could tell someone their loved one died in their sleep, and a detective could point to one of his people? They were myths. Creatures to be feared. No one pointed a finger to Gideon's kin because at night everyone prayed that god would deliver them from his people. They prayed for whatever vengeance upon them to be lifted. Prayed for no more nightmares, no more pain.

This human feeling of seeking justice was something foreign to him, yet it lit his fire. He wasn't a man of justice. He was just a cowardly hypocrite who selfishly did things to please only the factors in his life in which he cared about. There was never someone else to be there, so he could share this with them. He didn't have any humility. No shame. Being alive alone so long could surely do that to a person.

Gideon turned the page of the book and stopped halfway when Hazel's words registered in his mind. He'd been listening in to their conversation in case something was addressed to him, not truly caring about what they talked about. His book was far more interesting. However, now that Hazel pointedly spoke in his direction, he needed to answer. It was about his tattoos.

A hand was placed on the back of his ear, noticing his hair had parted down and gotten swished to the side when he was wiping his face. He quickly adjusted it to cover the tattoos, clearing his throat. Tattoos weren't something befitting someone with a job, he'd heard. They were hardly noticeable, but still. Didn't want to stir up any trouble. That was too much work to deal with.

"I got them 5 years ago. A friend did it for me in Germany. I like astrology...The stars and the moon remind me that there's always some semblance of the world to hold onto, no matter how old you get, how many people or experiences you think you lose." He said this all to himself while staring off into the distance, not once looking either of the women in the eyes while he spoke. When the sangria haired male finished his tangent, he went back to his book, scratching his cheek. "I don't have any others." The unasked question was answered.

Why do I miss someone I never met?
With bated breath I lay.

The behavior of the man suggested that he might have been a bit shy of having his tattoos been noticed. If that was the case, it seemed fairly cute. On the other hand, it definitely seemed to be a reaction that could be understood. If it was not that and he was just playing it off as nothing, than the chance remained that it was nothing at all and certainly not a big deal. In any case, it wasn't her job to investigate further on the matter. Though, she would admit, that it sounded like a story. She didn't see the tattoo herself, she didn't feel right asking about it. It was probably personal.

Her smile was simple and soft, nothing that betrayed great emotion, but instead seemed more fitting in polite conversation. Perhaps it was better to redirect back to talking about the weather?

"I look forward to it." Zoe disclosed honestly. She loved the warmth of the tropical sun and beaches. It made the water pleasant and inviting, which had a very strong contrast to the cold salt-water that seemed to be made of melted glaciers. This was home, for now. She was glad that it was such a place as this.

And all the poetry in the world finally makes sense to me.

"If dreams can't come true, then why not pretend?"

She didn't mean to embarrass him, she thought his tattoos were really cool especially the meaning behind them! But to avoid the awkward tension she went back to talking with the young lady. "My only worry about living so close to the coast is flooding and storms. I grew up on the coast and have been in a few close calls with floods. I hope if a storm hits this place won't go. Though, at least it has a nice view of the ocean." She noted as she cleaned up a few glasses in the back. They looked to be fancy wine glasses with a grape vine design wrapping around the stem.

As Hazel spoke to Zoe, Gideon casually put his book face down on the bar and made his way over to the girl, running his slender fingers through the top of her hair to check for tender spots. He wasn't even listening to a single word she said. Just concerned with her health. The burning in his eyes had stopped, but the throbbing from hitting her head should have been more long lasting, especially considering how she refused to keep the ice-pack on.

Gideon had had his fair share of noggin' hits. He wasn't a clumsy man, but sometimes he didn't pay enough attention to his surroundings(aka: reading while walking) and bumped into things. Poles, people, buildings, you name it. He'd hurt his head quite a few times, and knew how much it hurt to have something abruptly crash into your skull. The throbbing went on for quite some time, and you could get migraines after it, too. Gideon figured the girl was already in bad shape. Here with no money or furniture, a migraine was the last thing he needed. He was covering all his bases. She obviously needed to work if she was here the first day without a freaking place to stay. Why take the chance to miss a day of salt with a bad headache because of a simple little mistake?

Besides, she was cute. He didn't mind looking at her thought it would've been nice to keep her around. Hazel offered good conversation, and kept things bright and peppy. She kept him on his toes. He needed someone like her for the time being, until he was acclimated to his surroundings. "It looks like it might've bruised," Gideon said softly, his tall figure bending down to further examine her scalp. Sure enough, it was a bit darker colored. The scent of his lavender shampoo wafted into her face as he was a hand's length away from her face and eyes, trying to get a better look at her head. In return, Gideon also got a good smell of her bodywash, as well. He found he quite liked it.

"You need to ice it," The man concluded after another inspection, twirling some of her long wispy hair around his finger playfully before returning to his reading spot and picking up his book.

Zoe might have added to that, but she found herself distracted by the red-haired gentleman who seemed to have found himself distracted from his book to attend to his coworkers's... head? Ah... well.. she did bump her head earlier, yes...

But.... maybe it was just the randomness of the moment that struck Zoe as.... odd. It was one thing to say something... but it was another matter to just randomly touch someone else.

Suffice it to say... Zoe was quite speechless and wasn't sure of what to say at this particular point. She felt like a very awkward third wheel who didn't want to squeak and point out that she was still there. Her eyes turned down to her plate of nachos and she took up one of the chips, which had cooled enough now for her to eat it.

"If dreams can't come true, then why not pretend?"

Hazel had soon turn red as tomatoes once again, surely if he was this close he could smell her honey-almond shampoo. She tensed a bit with him touching her, and that fact that her head did intact hurt. She just knew it would look bad if she took a break on the first day, what if the manger came in and saw her siting lazing around? But never mind that...he was so close. She had a feeling it was for a little more then her head. But some part of her didn't mind, she felt comfortable around him for some odd reason. Even though he was basically a stranger.

"I'll put some ice on it once I get...ah." She realized she had no current home. "I umm...suppose I should put some ice on it for the time being. Thank you Gideon" She said to him as she walked over placing the icepack once again on her head. "But if theres any more orders I wont wear it, Ill look silly walking around with a bag of ice on my head." She went back to cleaning the wine glasses.

"It's not my problem if you take it off or look stupid. Besides, you could always get pity tips by wearing it." Gideon shrugged as he said this, never lifting an eye from his book. It was the type of thing he'd do in a heartbeat. Save him some pain and money later is what it did. All the other people were just too naive to see that plan. They probably deserved to give him the money at that point.

Still keeping his eyes on the book, Gideon picked up a pitcher of ice-water and poured it into Zoe's depleted water, offering her a napkin as well. Nachos could get messy. He knew this from experience. Any nacho combination in the world, you name it, he probably ate it. In fact, Gideon seriously doubted there was any food in the world he hadn't tried at this point. Except for that super fancy stuff. He didn't have the time or the connections to eat any of that, and preferred a paella with a beer any day of the week.

"Have you decided where you plan on working? I think it would be nice to see your face again sometime." Gideon said this bluntly and offered her a smile, thinking her demeanor a bit cold and reserved, hoping to lighten it up. She was pretty, too. He didn't have a problem speaking with pretty women. Especially if they liked nachos. Nothing wrong with that.

"Thank you," she expressed her gratitude, though her suddenly quiet volume might have made it hard for her words to be heard. And the awkwardness turned itself twenty degrees in her direction. She accepted the napkins as she tried to think about what decision she had made about working.... There were a number of promising options. Though... with the last part of his statement, she wasn't sure if he... well... if she broke it down, he wasn't exactly hiding his words, which suggested he wasn't feeling that his actions were betraying anyone. Perhaps he acted this way around everyone, in which case there wasn't a real reason to feel awkward in the first place.

She wiped off her fingers, though she found it hard to maintain eye contact for very long. Honestly, she hadn't had much time to really think about it. She was sitting back to rest a bit from unpacking earlier. It seemed her lack of energy was starting to catch up.

He probably wanted an answer, and odds were the nice waitress might want to know too.

"I.. um... I could work at Beluga's, if the owner said he could use help around there..." She cleared her throat. "Though, here seems like a nice place, too..."

Her thoughts continued silently. But with my lack of documentation it would be difficult to prove that I'm old enough to be a responsible member of society especially where alcohol is involved...

Literally dead and legally dead... especially when you died oh... when you were twenty. A great combination. She couldn't even legally drive a car. Fortunately, she didn't have to. She was quite fond of a good walk.

"If dreams can't come true, then why not pretend?"

Hazel decided since it wasn't very busy maybe she could listen to some music. She pulled out her phone and earphones from her pocket and placed them in her ears. She looked around once last time for possible customers, none in site. So she went back to the back and leaned back to relax a bit with some tunes. Bobbing her head along to the beat. The volume was loud enough for her to hear, but soft enough incase someone needed her for something.

"You don't seem like the type of person to work at a club..." Gideon outwardly told her, tapping his fingers on the bar's ledge. He was being honest. One quick look at her and most people would think she belonged in a library, covered in dust. Don't judge a book by its cover, they'd always say. Well, it was the nature of people to do that. Everyone liked to categorize things. It's an easy way to keep track of your thoughts and feelings; you grow up doing such so it becomes habit.

Gideon thought it would be better for her to work someplace where she had connections. If the manager told her she could hop right in and start, he wouldn't of objected. It seemed like a wonderful setup considering she didn't have a job to begin with. Go towards the easiest path. Knowing the manager means you upgrade quickly. "I've read a little about Beluga. It's a nice place. If you want a good drink, you don't go to Beluga's. But if you're lookin' to have a date with someone you're sweet on, Beluga is the place to go. It's fancy and nice. Matches you more than here.A lot more... refined, so to speak." Gideon offered her a kind smile and walked over to the register, putting in her order with previously unknown expertise. He held off on printing the receipt once more.

"You can always come back if you're looking for a good cocktail. And I'm sure you'll be dying for another plate of our nachos."

Well, it was certainly nice to hear conformation concerning her disposition. At least she wasn't so terribly transparent as to be believed that she could fit in anywhere. She smiled sheepishly and absently brushed some of her hair, just combing through it with her fingers to help move it out of the way. While the message seemed to conflict just a tiny bit with what was said earlier, she could take everything with a grain of salt and for what it was worth.

It was easier to look up and to engage in a conversation with him now that he was just openly offering advice. (And also now that she had recovered a bit from the confusion of a few moments before. Hopefully the girl would feel better soon... Hazel, her name was?)

Zoe could also understand the rationale behind not working at the club. She, clearly, was a party animal. Much too rowdy for the flashing lights and dancing atmosphere.

Woo.

In all seriousness, though, she was very grateful to hear more about Beluga. Perhaps her decision was mostly made. There was also a comfort to knowing that she was welcome back as a customer. Her smile was warm and grateful as the conversation turned back to her turn.

"I have to admit, I like the nachos." She lifted a chip, mostly for the sake of having it closer to her face, and then she took the momentary pause to eat. Munch. Nom. Yes. She did like warm food when it didn't try to kill her. .. Or maybe it tasted so wonderful in the moment because she had been neglecting the eating thing...? It was hard to tell. Her senses had been completely thrown since starting this adventure.

She was quick to swallow. "Thank you, sir."

Hazel paid somewhat attention to Gideon's and Zoe's conversation, he was even better at talking to customers then her. Hazel wasn't jealous though, it would be fun to work with someone so friendly..and cute. Once again her cheeks became a flustered. But she quickly shook it off. Maybe this Zoe lady would make a good friend. And friends are what Hazel definetly needed right now. She took out her earbuds and looked to Zoe. "Don't be a stranger, I'd love to serve you again, you're a sweet girl Zoe. Next time I'll tell you to watch out there for the nachos though." she said with a small smile.

So far so good, at least she didn't drop the nachos on her. By her bad luck today it seemed like that would have happy. But she was ever so grateful it did not infact happened.

He pat the bar in front of her in a form of comfort before turning and cleaning out the cocktail shaker, emptying out the ice and watery tomato juice. The man had honestly expected this job to be awful. He'd just serve drinks all day while watching party goers have fun in front of him. The last thing he wanted to do was look at beautiful men and women dance the night away with him not being there. And not being able to drink, either? Gideon sighed in his head. That didn't help either.

But these women, and hopefully the company of others would make things a lot better. He could tell. They were friendly, a nice to hold conversation with. Maybe Gideon would eventually take Hazel out for something to eat and Zoe would serve them. Seemed like a nice set-up.

He didn't let his mind wander on that too much. For now, he just wanted to read his book as there was nothing else to really talk about. Maybe the girls would strike up conversation as to what brought them to Soleil in the first place.

Feeling this welcome did help make the thought of coming back easier. Her curiosity had led her in here, and for one reason or another, she lingered around a bit longer than she had originally intended to, but the result of it was good and worthwhile. She found people who she could get to know better, who likely knew the area better than she did, and also those she could interact with freely. Neither of these two seemed to be letting many things weigh on their minds. Though, the girl was new here too? There had been an odd pause in an earlier sentence... was there something she was worried about? Or perhaps something she decided not to think of for very long?

It probably wasn't any of her business. "You're new here too?"

Perhaps a conversation would be alright? If she wasn't distracting them from their other customers, anyway. Though, she did worry that she was taking them away from what they wanted to do by being a bother.

I was previously in Brazil for a few months...Decided to get settled down here after I heard the legend. Probably too good to be true, but I don't mind. The local residents seem to make up for that. The bogeyman's charismatic smile was back in play, whisking away any worries that might've seemed present in his gaze or actions. His grin and overall nature was one of a man who didn't have a single worry in the world. That, along with his clear skin and striking features made for a very attractive male. He seemed like a carefree guy who just enjoyed the wonders and luxuries of life, really.

After speaking with Zoe, Gideon thought he might as well close his book and set it aside for now, thinking he would be talking to these ladies a bit. He didn't like reading and speaking. Although it was a great way to multi-task, the male found that it required too much concentration and effort.

Gideon began organizing the liquor behind him in order of what it would take to make the most common drinks, and what was easier for him to reach. He put the more expensive alcohol in the back for special requests, and reached over to adjust the beer taps, checking if they worked. Once he was sure they were, a towel was procured to polish the handles of them. When he was finished, he would take out a paper and begin to do inventory to see what they needed and what they didn't need. Knowing right off the bat that salt, orange juice, lemon juice, and lime juice for margaritas was missing, he fished a pen out from a drawer and began taking note of that. Gideon preferred to speak and work, anyways. It was more productive that way.

"What brings you to Soleil, hm? I don't remember ever getting your name. I'm Gideon Villalobos, pleasure to meet you, lovely." His name was pronounced the way he always did it - in the accent of his home language, making it seem more exotic than it really was. Though, after his foreign cursing fit a few moments ago, Gideon seriously doubted the whole "I'm not from here" message wasn't clear by now.
