The third time he tried and got a apple that was intent on eating him, Sludge nearly threw the thing, but had enough self controll to let it drop back into the bucket and move on.

With a squeaking yip of frustration Shiki tried one last time to get his teeth on an apple and not get bit.
OWWW!!
He yelped and danced back, lips and nose bleeding from little apple bites. This was not a funny joke.

After having wandered past the apple bobbing tent a few times Lumi finally decided to stop. If nothing else the apples looked tasty. She watched a few other students go before she tried.
Pulling back from the water quickly as she felt a sharp pain.
"...it bit me..."
She whimpered unsure if she really wanted to try again.

Frowning really unsure why she was putting her face back in the water that held the apples that bite Lumi decided to try again.
And again she was dealt the same fate as the first time. Whimpering she looked down. There had to be a better way to do this.

Deciding one last try. And if she got bit again she was going to be running away from Apples for the rest of her life. Pulling back not feeling a bite she touched the apple in front of her. Oh yay she got an apple that didn't bite. Getting the forced smile and the wave she wondered if she could keep the apple...then again it didn't seem like throwing it back would have been a good option.
