"I'll tell you after your bath," Lily stated simply. While Ren got cleaned up, Lily got three glasses and a bottle of wine. She filled two of the glasses and then left the third empty until Nalyne finished with Dev. When Ren left the bathroom, Lily found some clothes and handed them to her. "We're now down a general. The funeral is for Allistair and his slave Hal. An assassin tried to kill Esabel. They died so that she could get away. She was in bad shape before I managed to heal her. If they hadn't stepped in, we would be mourning Esabel." Her expression darkened for a moment. "I will discover who tried to kill her. And I will have their head." She looked back over to Ren and then handed her a glass of wine. "The answer to your last question is simple. Nothing about the Re has changed. We will rule this world and crush any who oppose us. But first we'll purge any remaining weakness in our ranks, and then we'll make sure that everyone knows just how strong we are. We'll show them just how foolish they are for believing that they can challenge the Re."

"I don't know how she felt about Allistair, but she's taking Hal's death really hard," Lily said, taking a sip of her wine. "He was one of the few humans who didn't treat her like she was some kind of freak. She really cared for him, and seeing him die has really thrown her off. She started freaking out about everyone leaving her. I think seeing you will actually do her a lot of good. We'll both go see her after she wakes up. Nalyne knocked her out for a bit." She sighed a bit and then moved to find another outfit for herself. "I took over at a stressful time. Some of the guards have figured out that I'm in charge now, but a lot of them haven't. Still, it's nothing too troublesome. I'm working on a speech for the funeral that will make it perfectly clear to everyone that the Re is under my control now."

Nalyne got the first mental block in place and managed to suppress the HellCat form enough to allow Dev to shift back to his human form. That was when he saw the large bruise already forming at the base of Dev's head, letting him know how the large cat had been taken down so easily. He pulled back to himself enough to hear the polite knock at the door and got up to answer it. He passed through the main room just in time to hear Ren's question and grinned, "I showed up on her doorstep and she took me to bed. As for why I'm here, that's a bit more complicated. I'll explain all of that later," he said as he passed through. He opened the door and took the message from the guard then moved back to Lily and gave her very tempting lips a light kiss, "Someone wants to talk to someone in charge. I'll go take care of it then go check on Esabel. I need to see how she's healing anyway. You catch up with your mother," he said softly to her then had to give her another kiss before he turned and left with obvious reluctance.

Lily blushed a bit when Nalyne gave his answer, watching him go with a less than happy expression. "Nalyne's explanation wasn't entirely accurate," she said. "I didn't just take him to bed right after meeting him. We had dinner before anything happened. We really connected. Something about him just makes me feel so complete. And he's been quite helpful here." She took another sip of her wine. "What do you plan to do now? You said you intended to carry on dad's work, but what exactly does that imply?"

Lily moved over to a nightstand amd picked up a thick journal. She moved back over and showed it to Ren. The book contained a massive amount of knowledge. It had the names of contacts, detailed plans, and even the names of Ren's spies. Every secret that Ren would have needed Lily to know when she took over the Re was stored in this book. "This will probably help," she said. "This is the book that you put everything you knew about it. I looked through it, but you put a lot of information in here. I haven't had a chance to go through it all yet." She flipped through the book and frowned a bit. "Weird. There's a page missing. It looks like someone tore out a page since the last time I checked the book. Do you know which one it could have been?" She held it out to Ren. While Lily didn't know which page was gone, Ren would probably notice it immediately. The list of Ren's spies on the Sandman council was missing.

Lily frowned a bit and sat down. She had caught a familiar scent on the book, meaning that the one to rip the page out had to be someone who had seen it. "Essy reported that Uncle Grann was lost in the battle like a lot of others. As far as I know, you and I are the last Blackbloods. Well, I have to make sure to count Alice's twins as well." She paused and let that sink in for Ren. Lily had noticed Alice's pregnancy when she had met her that one time, but no one had informed Ren of that particular development.

"Yes, Alice had twins," Lily said, looking slightly amused by Ren's shock. "The father was a demon named Ash. I found out that time I stormed off and landed there. Actually, I found out it was twins before the group there. It was quite a shock to everyone there. They asked me to keep the secret for them, and I promised I would. But keeping that promise is a bit pointless now. I'm a different person than I was then." She poured herself another glass of wine. "According to my most recent reports, Alice died during childbirth. And Grann and Hope were lost in the battle, according to Essy. That leaves Sebastet and Ash as the last Sandman leaders. And your people on the council should be working to correct that."

Lily hugged her mother back and then shook her head. "Not really any new blood," she said. "But we should still go take a look around. It should do wonders for everyone to see you alive." She suddenly froze as she began to realize something. She remembered that the scent she had caught on the book was Morrigan's. She also realized that she hadn't seen Morrigan in quite some time. "We need to go to Morrigan's room. She was one of the only people I trusted enough to let know about the book, the one whose scent was on it. And I haven't seen her since before everything started happening. We need to look into this immediately. We need to find out if she's involved in this."
