Lex continued his slow crawl through the maze, keeping his hands at both walls and trying to block out the voice of Marcus haunting him.

"You didn't really love her, did you? That's why you didn't volunteer to go on the mission with her. If you really loved her, you would have made sure to know whenever she went on a mission, and to where. She was just another ******** to you, who also gave you a roof."

"I said shut up!" The man roared, shaking his head.

< Whelpling, I need you to stay as calm as possible. It's a trick. Stop giving in to the room. >

[1 --> 3]

He'd made it out of the room that reminded him far too much of Wonderland and probably was wonderland given Alice was there, and found himself in darkness.

Not metaphorical darkness which might have actually been preferable but actual 'can't see a ******** thing' darkness.

"Well this is just peachy"

< "So can I make bat jokes? Or is that going to be too soon?" >

"No. No you can not make bat jokes." He sighed at Vi and ignored her snickering. "You can tell me how to get out of here but somehow I doubt you know that."

She could feel it. The exit to this place couldn't be much further, right? There was a moment where she settled, trying to take in her surroundings. How was she going to get out of here? She had to get away from the noises, the echoes in her ears...

Did she see an exit?!

She thought she did.

Nkosazana darted towards it, stepping through the exit and letting out a breath of relief when she arrived. Oh, thank Death itself. She was tired of that room. She could feel the noises fading already...

[1 - 5 - 3]

A dark corridor branched off of the pathway Evan had gotten dumped out on after making it through the room full of--well, rooms. He couldn't see what was down that way, but he could hear voices inside, whispering and echoing off the walls. It would surely have been better--smarter--to avoid it and move on, but they beckoned him forward. Maybe he would find his lost prey down that way; maybe he would find entirely new prey, and this time he wouldn't give them the option of running.

The light dropped off surprisingly quickly, only a few feet into the hallway, leaving Evan blind and disoriented. A glance over his shoulder showed him nothing but darkness, the door sealed shut behind him. Figures. He walked slowly, carefully down the corridor, wary of his footing, alert for the presence of any traps. He kept one hand on the wall as a guide, his other free and ready to summon his weapon, if need be. He didn't know how far he had walked--it couldn't have been far--but the presence of the voices distracted him, and he got turned around.

[3 --> 6 = Event 2]

He felt his way around a few corners as he tried to navigate the room blind. He could hear voices but at first they weren't anything special. Just the vague background of people talking like you heard in the back of movies.

As he paused at one opening trying to decide which way to go he started to hear more distinct voices.

"You know it was your fault. You left them He frowned. It almost sounded like one of his classmates, one who he had been friends with before the accident.

"If you keep doing this you're just going to get killed" That was Arland but 'Land didn't say things like that to him. "You can't take on the whole Island alone"

Shaking his head to try to make the voices stop he hurried on hoping to get out of the darkness as fast as he could.

Marcus' voice, too, faded after a while longer and more trekking down the halls, his head momentarily cleared of all but he and Regal.

< You've done well so far, Alexei. Keep moving, we'll make it out of this. > The Gryphon purred, trying to keep the Hunter easy at mind.

<< Thanks, Squawks. >>

"Oh, how cute. Playing nice with the bird now? That's really quite pathetic, trying to be friends with him. You've always been bad at friendship - it's no wonder no one ever talks about you on your island."

< ********. >

Lex gulped and froze in place, staring at what he assumed was the ground. "And look now, all alone in a dark maze with no one to share your baby burdens with. Not even that woman that only tolerates you is here for you. What a failure we are."

< Lex. Listen. It's just the room. You are not pathetic - and you have friends. Keep walking. You can do this. Don't listen to the room. >

[6 --> 10]

Running away from the voices didn't really make them stop. As he rounded corners and ducked around vague shadows in the darkness he could still here voices.

Arland, Milo, Ceres ...

All of them telling him how stupid he was, how naive he was, how little he was going to accomplish.

< "Don't listen to them! You know it's just this place playing tricks on you." >

At least Vi wasn't doing it too.

"That's because she's in your mind. You've brainwashed her"

"ARG!" He stopped to catch his breath, fist slamming into one of the walls beside him.

< "Ino come on. Listen to me. They sent you in here after Horsemen. There's bound to be some messed up stuff. Don't. Listen." >

[1, moved to 5, back to 3]

Leaving the Corridor of Ancients was like teleporting. The second she stepped through the door, all of the panic and paranoia dissipated immediately. Even her clothes and hair were suddenly dry again, not to mention she went back to the correct age. Wait... s**t, she had slapped Cami. She had really slapped Cami. That was something she would have to atone for later though -- hey, it was a Deus mission. Wasn't that kind of bizarre s**t just expected? Still... she had slapped her a lot. It wasn't cool.

There was no time to waste. Medea was still out there, and horsemen were still running around. It unnerved Hanna to be without one of her Sun Hunter pals. They were the muscle that she felt she needed. The girl had never actually gone one on one with a Halloween creature or Horsemen before.

With a swig of water, Hanna took a deep breath and charged into the Corridor of Madness... only to be met with darkness -- oh, and a wall to the face. Hanna ricocheted backward, letting out a yelp and gripping the wall behind her. There was a wall on three sides, open space before her. Hanna loved the dark, in a way. When no one believed her stories about things existing that we just don't see, she would regularly try to "prove it" by throwing herself into bad places and darkness, willing the creatures to show themselves. She was damn lucky none had decided to end her life then.

Now, in this new corridor, Hanna had a strange advantage. The dark didn't naturally terrify her. If she was trapped in darkness anyway, her eyes might as well be protected. Hanna slid her googles onto her face and summoned Adelphe. The twin blade was a pain in the a** to carry, but the Death Hunter didn't want to be weaponless if something nefarious was lurking in the shadows.

Tracing her hand along the stone wall, Hanna slowly began to move forward. She made good progress, stumbling and wincing at the whisper of voices. Just as she reached the end of a hallway, a voice snarled in her ear and she stumbled backward, scrambling back to the other end of the hallway and holding Adelphe out in front of her in defense.

As Hanna backed up to the safety of a wall, she instead bumped into a hard muscled body and let out a yelp. Turning abruptly, she planted hands on the chest and shoved, holding Adelphe in front of her like a shield. "Stand back or die," she hissed, more bark than bite.

[3 - 5 - 3]

There were no familiar markers in the dark corridor, and Evan cursed the lack of deformity in the stone walls--he could have made anything a landmark if he could feel it, but they were all uniformly smooth. He couldn't tell if he was making progress or if he was just walking around in circles.

Spoiler: he was just walking around in circles.

It looked like he wasn't the only one. He jerked as something ran into him and pushed off, Gir in his hands before he even thought about it. The runes running down the length of the blade flared briefly before their light was swallowed by the pitch darkness. "You first," he growled, hoping to make whatever it was speak again so he could get an idea of its location. He didn't want to alert it to the fact that he had a weapon until he was in a position to do something about it.

OH GOD I DO BAD MATH -- I did this one too soon too. Sorry, will wait EXTRA EXTRA LONG on the one after the next one where I also screwed this up.

[1 - 5 - 3 - 7]

Despite her threat, Hanna didn't actually want to fight. Did that voice sound familiar? Oh well, that was not a question she wanted to take the risk of figuring out now. Safer to escape and fight another day. She took two steps back until she didn't hear anyone following her and then ran as fast as she could dragging her hand along the wall to keep track of her location. Unfortunately, that only worked until there was a wall in front of her. The impact jarred Hanna, and she dropped Adelphe to the ground in shock.

Careful with me! the siren snapped. Have some respect, honestly.

Stumbling to her feet, Hanna found a corner and waited there for a moment, catching her breath.

[11] -> [13]

"You idiot. Can't you walk without bumbling about and holding yourself up between these corridors? I bet Marcus could do it, or Dakota. Hell, even Stormy could probably do this more easily than you. You're so pathetic. Like an old man who needs a walker to take a piss." The voice scorned, laughing harshly as Lex fumbled around, grasping at sometimes nothing, sometimes a a stone handhold.

< Lex, just ignore it. It's not true. I'm sure the others are struggling just as much as you are with this room. Keep moving forward, keep trying. I know you can make it. > Regal pleaded, trying to outweigh the voice that sounded like Lex. The man's own hatred was his worst enemy, cliche as it was.

His handhold suddenly vanished and Lex hit a edifice, moaning in self-pity.

"HA! Idiot!"

I posted this too soon so I will wait extra on the next post, whoops~

[1 - (5)3 - 7 - 9]

Once her heart rate slowed, Hanna regained her composure. If anything, she was maybe the best suited to this challenge. Stealth and composure -- that she could do. The stone walls at least felt consistent. Her booted feet moved softly, barely making noise, but her weapon clacked and clanging against it. It was giving away her location. Straightening up, the Death Hunter chose to transform Adelphe back into totem form, but held the bone earrings in her hands for easier access.

Her progress continued uneventfully, aside from the hiss of whispers. It reminded her of sneaking across the boardwalk on the bay after the snowstorm, when all the lights were out. It was just Hanna and the darkness, and it had comforted her.

[ Area 1 ] [Event 1]

Nothing was ever as simple as collecting broken battle remnants in the desert. Nothing would ever be that easy. Sherry felt silly for even hoping it. Partially because she knew better, but mostly because she'd not signed up to simply be a scavenger. She'd signed up to protect humanity.

So she closed up her jacket, dusted herself off, and double checked the headset. They had their orders. Search, destroy when necessary, and locate the leader of the enemy. Groups were allowed, and she glad for that. Sherry had pretty bad luck when facing things alone, as of late.

So she stuck close to Jake as they entered the tower.

Inside, there was nothing but darkness. She clung to Jake. "Can you see anything?" The hand that wasn't clutching at her boyfriend reached out to find a wall. One step, two..small steps. And then her fingers felt it. Cool, solid stone. A corridor perhaps?

"Onward?" She asked Jake. A moment later she added, "Do you hear that?"

Voices. It had sounded like scuffling at first, her own, but she could hear whispers.

"Sherry, you stupid girl."

Sherry's fingers gripped Jake's arm. She thought she'd heard her mother.

[13] -> [14]

He kept his slow and steady pace, feeling with his hands and feet where to step next. There were walls all around, except in the front. Good, he could keep moving forward then.

"Oh my God! You're so ******** slow, Alexei! Come on! Gooooo! Run into some more walls for me, I want another laugh."

< You're doing fine. Please keep trying. >
