Spenelli Oops, I forgot to introduce myself when I joined! Well, Queen Enchanted found me posting about my guild and asked to affiliate so I did. I consider myself a nerd so it fits. She's a really nice lady too. biggrin My name is Spenelli, if you ever feel you want to call me something shorter I prefer Spen to anything else. Getting called Spene or Speny annoys me a little. I'm 26 years old and can't figure out what I want to do with my life. I'm a cashier for now. I know I want a house. I think I want a tiny house, a house built without needing to be connected to public utilities. No bills. It's just a hard thing to obtain, haha. Someday I hope. My favorite place is Scotland. I want to return there someday. Living there would be my ultimate dream. My favorite games are Gaia, Minecraft, Plants vs Zombies and The Sims. I call Gaia a game cause I like a lot of different games. zOMG, puzzles, word bump and booty grab mostly. My fave shows are Dexter, Doctor Who, and Weeds. I love Netflix. I like meeting new friends and I've already met a few of you at the Gaia Towns Party. Hai people! Hello Spen. I'd say welcome, but you should know by now that you are more than welcome in my Guild. Thank you so much for the kind words. XD It was lovely. I know that in Alaska they have houses built to be completely off the grid. It is amazing. I hope that you get your dream. I know I'm 22 and I have no idea what I'm going to do or where I'm going in life. I think that even 5 years to figure that out is too much to ask some days. I already know you fit well into the guild and thank you again for the compliment. XD You are sweet and kind yourself.

flashhart Hey guys. :B I'm flashhart (though I might change my name soon >_>; ) and I really like fantasy & sci-fi, reading, drawing, and learning about new topics that interest me. I've tried to learn Japanese, but I found over time that the best way to retain a new language is full immersion and that's not possible for me right now. I still love Japan, especially it's culture. Just a few things I like: GoT, Lotr, Skyrim, Orphan Black, Cosmos, Assassin's Creed, Ghibli studios...and the list goes on. I hope to meet a lot of lovely nerds while I'm here. C: Hello dearie. Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings and Assassin's Creed are all extremely awesome. If you love fantasy I recommend trying out LARP. It is so much fun getting to run around with weapons trying to kill bloop bloops and spiders. XD Japanese is a hard language to learn. I've been trying to figure it out for years. Some tips to help you is watching anime in raw form and trying to figure out by the pictures what they are saying. They also say that listening to music, learning lyrics works to improve your language skills. So there are some tips in your goal to learn Japanese. I love Japan too. I am hoping by the time I have children that I get to go to Japan. It's been a dream of mine to go to a PSC concert. Welcome to the guild. It is fantastic to have you. Thank you so much for joining and feel free to chat with me whenever. :3

Okay, lets dance...
You can call me... *looks at name*... SCN. Short, simple, and unsweet. Just like I like my tea.
This place was brought to my attention by an invite, granted by Lady Enchantedluck. And after some poking about, I decided to stay.
I enjoy tea to sodas, well I just enjoy hot drinks/foods more than something in a pretty wrapper. Even in the dead heat of summer... I enjoy reading and learning, my personal favorites are; historic, Science, fiction and religious text. One to break away from the norm, to learn of my world, and to understand how people think. Personally, I am Agnostic, with a Christian past, who takes part in Gnostic services; if time allows.
I prefer games like D&D and Whitewolf, or play by ear/post games, to Final Fantasy. I just like the idea that my thoughts and actions can really change the course of a game.
Oh, I don't watch tv... so more likely than not, I haven't heard of the show or the event, if not on the news websites.
I don't really know what to add, but ask any question you wish. And I will answer honestly.

C: I have tried watching anime raw and have been exposed to Japanese music for YEARS, so I know a lot of vocab. While I am able to absorb a lot, I don't practice that part of my brain that deals with speaking the language...since I don't have a Japanese speaking partner to practice with and I can't exactly speak to myself. Lol. It's hard to explain, but you can understand a language pretty well but be awful at speaking it (my grandma was like this, she was French and barely could speak English) because those are two different areas of your brain that you have to exercise and build up to a high skill level. Thank you for the tips tho. I really appreciate them, and it'll be great to get to know you as I participate in this guild. ^_^

How can you be a "not very good" Christian and open a guild that teaches love and acceptance? When the teacher of the faith taught to love everyone, even enemies? Don't worry on answering that, I am glad you invited me. I am currently studying the fall of the Roman empire, though I tend to jump around into different time periods. Depending on what strikes my fancy, that week.

Depending on what strikes my fancy, that week. Funny you should ask that. I believe in the bible teaching us to love not to judge and I highly doubt a higher power will judge anyone who is gay, because that is how they were made. Love is love and I believe that no one has a right to invade someones life because they are gay, bi, pansexual or transsexual. I refuse to teach people ignorance or give them the ability to become a bully. I've always been one to be very strongly spoken when it comes to Gay rights.
Awesome. The Roman Empire is awesome to learn about. I've only had a few books on it but I love it all the same. It was such a major and strong empire that just fell. I'd like to see how they came and went in history.

Yeah Japanese is listed as one of the four hardest languages to learn if it's not your native language. It's on par supposedly as Chinese, Korean, and one other one I can't remember at the moment. I took a Japanese class in college to learn a bit about it and it is a bit hard. Once you get the hiragana and katakana it gets easier though because then you can write it which I've seen to help retain it because when you write something you know what you're doing enough to explain it so yeah. But I applaud you on trying to learn that language it takes many a strong willed people to learn it. Another interesting fact is that if you focus on learning the language you should be fluent within two years. I'm not exactly sure if that's true but that's another thing to look into as well. Konbanwa gozaimasu I've known hiragana and katakana for years, but kanji is. so. difficult to retain! Even when I was practicing it everyday. I don't think the two-year thing is very accurate because some people study a language every day for years without mastering it. If you do a lesson a day, you're still not really immersing yourself in it. You've got to listen to tv, radio, read books, change your browser to the language you're learning, etc. until you start to even think in that language. That's why people pick up the language quickly when they move to another country. The full immersion.

I understand that because I picked up Spanish quicker being over there for like a week and a half than the two years I did in high school. Although it was difficult because in Spain they actually intertwine Catalon (sp?) and Spanish together so even some of our native Spanish speakers got thrown for a loop but having taken the class I could remember basics and communicate well enough, even though I made a close friend who spoke Spanish. But yeah I'm sure it's a lie but it was just something I had read so I didn't know about it. Kanji is ridiculous. I've learned maybe 20 or so but that's maybe like 0.1% of all kanji. My Japanese teacher is actually from Japan and he was telling us even he doesn't know all the kanji. He's like thirty or so as well and being immersed in it still not knowing all those kanji I was overwhelmed. Plus some of them change just because you mess up one brush stroke and that is really scary. But that's one reason I like learning it because I like challenges and that's a challenge with it being three different alphabets really. With all the animes I watch I can slowly pick out some things when they post Japanese words on there and that is an accomplishment to me. Although Deathnote I can't read the Japanese because of the kanji >.>

And kanji is ridiculous. >_> I heard that there's specialized kanji for certain fields like the military, so even native Japanese speakers rarely learn all the kanji that exist. I can pick out quite a few words when I watch anime, but it goes by so fast and the word order is so different from English, it's hard to understand the whole sentences. I remember watching/reading Deathnote years ago. I even bought the live action film. :3 What other anime do you watch?
