"Oh yeah," Rory let out a low groan as he leaned his head into the small pillow. There would be a lot of work waiting the both of them once they were healed enough to go back to work. "Though I gotta admit...it'll be fun to tinker with what they get from the Keldeo."

As Aulus and Hayes discussed, in part, her, as well as 'bacon birds' and other topics, Tambrey was distracted enough with her own recovery and with Rory to miss the topic even if it had been loud enough; besides, Aulus and Hayes were very close, that was hardly a secret, and she wasn't going to pry without invitation.

"Oh, yes... I do /wish/ we could've gotten a... feather or something from the cardinal of death, but /Keldeo/... I can't wait to just even... look at the DNA for that."

Natsuko-neko

Frost was not a small man but he had a way of moving neatly and lightly that gave him a very soft tread and so he had a habit of appearing behind people without much warning.

He did so now.

"Xander, you look remarkably intact given the whispers I heard on my way here," he said from behind the other blond. "Very well done." Izaya, unfortunately, appeared to be mainly unscathed too. Frost elected to ignore him because he was beginning to suspect that attention and reactions were exactly what the red-eyed man wanted. Instead he said; "Hello Agent Faleen, was that Elite Hayes who went in just now? Mmmh, I wasn't aware that he had been transferred back."

"Heh," Hayes chuckled in response, not listening so much as studying his friend's scratched-up arms and bloodless complexion.

"Tell you what. You rest and I'll just, uh.." He stared at the tribe of machines surrounding Kurt's hospital bed, and after a few moments' scrutiny, found a place to sit where it didn't look like he'd disconnect anything important. "Yeah, that's good," he concluded, and gave his friend's hand an answering squeeze. "I've gotta eat in a while and all, but. Works?"

Works? Yes, that worked. "Yea, that works. Thanks," Aulus replied with a weak but genuine smile. "Don't forget to eat though, food is important," he added after a moment, blinking dazedly up at Hayes. Food was important, and was it his imagination or did his friend look a bit skinny? He wouldn't be surprised, a whole year out on a strange base! He didn't entirely trust that Alex had been looking after himself as much as he ought, Alex needed prodding to get away from the screen and exercise or eat a proper meal not just something easy he could have at the desk and....

"Are you staying? I mean, you're transferred back properly now right? I'm pretty sure you said words to that effect but... you know, just checking." Maybe they'd only sent him back for a few weeks and would soon call him away again to do more stuff. No, he was pretty sure Alex had given the impression that he was staying for the foreseeable future. "Just... maybe try to make sure something's always a little but FUBAR, then they can't send you anywhere else right?" Maybe?

"Nah, no worries. Just tell me Char still makes those samosas." Despite his blithe dismissal, the blond's faded Atari tee hung off him a bit more than it had when he'd left, and his complexion had seen more sun.

"It's IT. Something is always a little FUBAR - it's being the guy who knows how to fix it that's the trick." Hayes grinned. "But they brought me back to handle the department, so they might want me to stick around for a while. I can cut a bunch of cables if it helps - or just not be too quick about training replacements."

"Heh, that sounds good," Aulus replied, aware that Alex was joking but happy to take it all the same. "Smash some screens... maybe release some more rogue Joltik. There was a rogue Joltik in the base when we first arrived." He supposed none of them really had any say over their fate in the end, they'd signed that over in exchange for... for... what had it been again? Oh yeah, the promise of adventure and a pretty girl. Well, he'd made worse decisions in life. Probably. Anyway, even if this had been a 'bad' decision he'd met good people because of it. He'd never have known any of the people he now counted as friends if he hadn't followed Claire aka 'Lucy' back here.

"Oh, yeah, and he does." This was said with a little nod as Aulus remembered Alex's query re: delicious food. "He's learned a few more recipes too, and even I have. Stir fries, really easy.... Char makes a better omelette than I do though. I can never fold the buggers right, and I get impatient and end up with scrambled eggs."

Xander's attention went quickly from Faleen to Frost when he spoke up. And no, of course he didn't jump a little. Really. And if he did then he would blaim it on the bird of death. He turned to give his partner a smile. "Well I got lucky this time around." He then winced a bit. "Unfortunately everyone else got the short end of the stick."

"Mmmh," Frost shrugged, "well such things happen on missions." It was why he didn't sign up for them very often anymore, it would take something quite intriguing to pry him from his workshop and into danger like that; field work was not his speciality and it would be quite illogical for him to engage in it without good reason.

"I am glad to hear that there were no fatalities," the small man added as an afterthought. He was especially glad that Izaya had made it back, it meant that there was still the possibility that - somewhere down the line - he would get to kill the little wretch personally.

"Now Xander, were you going in to visit or leaving?"
PostPosted: Wed May 28, 2014 3:42 pm

True enough. Xander had only volunteered since it had been a while since he had gotten out and stretched his legs so to speak. Of course that hadn't turned into the best idea all things considered. "It was a close one with a few of them but yeah, everyone made it through." He said, mind flashing back to a certain annoying grunt he had to give CPR. "Going to visit, no one was awake when I left a little bit ago."

Later, when he wasn't hooked up to IV's, he would check on a couple of the grunts that had been on the mission with them . He'd liked the kid he'd teamed up with and he could have guaranteed he'd seen the another one around in the labs before.

For now, Rory would recover and focus on other things.

"Not that looking at the DNA of the death bird wouldn't be interesting but could you imagine replicating that thing?" the agent shuddered at the thought, "Though I suppose, depending on its nature and attitude, it would be fun to have to go against whoever those people were."

"That Keldeo though..." Rory glanced over at Tambrey and grinned, "that'll be great."

"Oh I -really could-..." Tambrey replied to Rory, wistfully, as she watched shapes in the back of her eyelids "But, yes... I know what you mean. It would be amazing, but intimidating... And that size?"

She couldn't see the smile, but she could hear it in his tone; Rory and equines... And swords... Yes. A pony with a sword on its face; that rather fit Rory.
"Hm. It would be very interesting to see what Pinkie, and Octavia, might think of a legendary like that..."

Though he couldn't see her very well from where he was, he could hear the wistfulness in her voice as she spoke of the huge bird they'd faced.

"It would," Rory glanced over towards Tambrey and debated if he could attempt to sit up, "Pinkie would probably love it if it didn't terrify her. The same with Octavia probably," his voice trailed off as his mind started to conjure images of the Ponytas and a Keldeo.
PostPosted: Thu May 29, 2014 4:50 pm

"Hmm. Octavia is a bit of an oddity..." Tambrey ventured "She's quite intelligent, quite capable, but she's not really living up to be much of a battler. I suppose I would rather hope that meeting a legendary that.... superficially, at least, resembles her sort of species might 'inspire' her or somethin' like that... Pinkie though," Tambrey grinned "I think even if it did terrify her, she'd likely learn to love it? She's quite a friendly pokémon."

"Octavia makes me wonder what was with the Rapidash's DNA we used," he commented, "though to be fair Pinkie's never been much of a battler herself so sorry about that. Though seeing something like that might help her."

Rory shifted around and chuckled lightly. "Oh she probably would after a while. Though sometimes I think she might be too friendly."
