Today is the last day to participate in the CYOA, the last day to submit entries for the week-long design contests, and the last day to purchase a corporate sponsorship! Aandes was refreshed. It was almost the last day to work out the gerbils, and so far none had stood up to the grace or talent of his first draft pick, the redblood's gerbils (Sinter Heilig, was it? Yes, he thought so) or that gilded gilled seadweller Dictys.
He picked up a gerbil he hadn't before and it squirmed in his hands. "Hopefully you can put that energy on the track," he half-threatened.

The greenblood decided not to watch the gerbil so closely this time. Perhaps stage fright was a factor in the gerbil's previous reluctance. It was an interesting theory.

Aandes looked with excitement at the furry little creature spinning around in the wheel. Even when it got caught up and did a few 360's in the equipment it just kept trucking. An inspiration to gerbkind.

Aandes watched the gerbil like a hawk. He made sure to be nonchalant, so as to not attract any attention. In fact, he even played with some other gerbils in the area to keep other trolls distracted. Occasionally, he'd shoot glances back at the scuttling little legs blurring at an impressive pace in the cage.

Go go go! Aandes tugged on his hoodie strings excitedly and tapped his squeaky sneakers on the floor. "She's gonna freak... Maybe I can get plush gerbils made out of this little guy... I bet she'd like that," he rambled.
Aandes realized that he was talking out loud. He continued to watch the gerbil in silence. As the gerbil came to a slow stop, he quietly picked it up and scratched its chubby chin. It was pretty cute... Maybe he'd get one for himself, too.

Troll: Didero Salons

My volunteering total: 8
Didero bounced on his heels in excitement as the NummCorp employees gave their final talks to all the volunteers. He'd been working for days, but the fact that the race was tomorrow felt way too soon. Didero was certain the lot of them could have come up with a bunch more tiny gerbil props, had they the time.
They didn't have the time, though. The older trolls around him were already packing up the area in preparation for the big night. Didero scooted past them all to see the real stars of the show.
Seeing all of the gerbils together was adorable, but Didero quickly picked his own out of the bunch. He crouched down near the gerbil enclosure. Evening Mist and Hippo were conveniently the only gerbils not to shuffle off at Didero's presence. Didero grinned and pressed a finger against his side of the enclosure.
Didero whispered a dramatic retelling of his and the gerbils' fateful encounter, laden with inspirational one-liners about perseverance and the power of friendship. He only made it up to the part where he was making them tiny gerbil towels before the NummCorp employees told him to leave. Didero figured his gerbils had gotten the gist of it.

The day of the race was closing in! Sinter strode up to the Wheel of Fire with purpose. "C'mon little guys... I know you're gonna do great, but it would be really nice if you could show some effort today anyway..."
Sinter wasn't the best at pep-talks.

The gerbils were getting the hang of things. Sinter hoped all their training on the round wheel would translate well to a flat track.
EDIT: Lafayette stumbled and Sinter reached down to stop the wheel before Theodore spun his jogging partner off the equipment. If anything, Sinter believed a flat track would be easier than this dumb wheel.

Eckios had heard about the Gerbil games and had finally gotten up the courage to actually go take a look. A lot of trolls were expectantly watching over their contestants, with mixed degrees of emotions it seemed like. The announcement of this being the last day for several options made him sigh just a bit, better late than never at least right? Now he wished he'd checked in sooner, creating things was right up his alley.
There was so much to do anyway! Maybe next time he'd get to show off some kind of silly doodle, or come up with other more creative options. Perhaps if he had enough time before the deadline he’d try and sneak something in. Getting familiar with these little noisy gerbils would keep him entertained for now. Too bad his Lusus would likely eat any critter like these if brought home..
He was in luck. They were still taking volunteers, and he could pick one. "At least not everything is over..dats good at least." he looked pleased, his good eye squinting at the remaining cages still on the table, taking inventory of the little critters. "aww aint you cute.." He grinned going up on his tip toes reaching out for a particular cage. The name tag read "Bonkers" hopefully that wouldn't be too much of an issue. Bringing himself eye level with the little guy the young troll smiled at the little critter encouragingly. "You’re gunna be awesome ya know! All of you are~!" He stated matter of factually, excitedly rambling at the small creatures giving his own cage a nuzzle of encouragement. Whether it worked or not was anyone's guess. Turning his attention to his own gerbil, the troll wasn't phased of course when all Bonkers did was blink at him. Eckios skittered off with Bonkers to take a shot at training his new little buddy.

Now that he was content with his pick of gerbil Eckios moved to the gymnasium in hopes of actually getting this little fellow into shape. "Lets see what your made of hm?"
So far so good, the little guy hadn't flown off the wheel or anything right off the bat, and kept moving along.
