[ "Brr! Chill aside, that was almost peaceful!" Didero commented as the snow whipped itself away not long after it had begun to fall.

However, no sooner had he said that, more white appeared over the horizon. Didero held his breath, hoping it wasn't more snow or ice.

Nope, it was the lusus. Or at least, he hoped it was. Otherwise he'd feel very silly for tossing his net at it.

Well, the snow was at least somewhat refreshing. Ganyma ejected his push blades immediately and rushed straight at the lusus, uninterested in grappling with it with his back in its sore condition. He took straight blows to its face and frill as it charged past.

With slick sounds of the blades sticking into their target, Ganyma bit his lip. He was getting pretty roughed up just from fighting this thing -- it was a marathon. An excellent training opportunity, yes, but perhaps he should have invited another teen along instead of going it alone.

No! Absolutely not. Ganyma forced his fist deep into the lusus' ribs. He could do this -- alone!

((Glitch! We're gonna do 2 attacks and then another roll so that we don't waste any of the stamina that we'll gain tomorrow.))

[ Didero did his best to cheer from the sidelines, but it was becoming increasingly difficult to stay motivated with how late in the night it was getting. While Didero was tired, that at least meant this stupid chill would burn off in the morning sun, right?

...Or all of the ice could melt and create a flood. That could always happen too.

"Where is all this water COMING FROM!?"

"Higher ground, higher ground, higher ground!" rambled Ganyma. Water flushed past their feet. Luxara had been mighty quiet (particularly since he noticed her mouth occupied with a familiar looking bouncebeast snack...)-- he decided it was her turn to get to higher ground, and popped her on her lusus. As for Didero....

"I've gotcha!" he warned.

Ganyma scooped up the young boy in his arms. He supported his back and knees in either arm and hustled to find a craggy place to escape from the flood.

"I think it's definitely time for all of us to take a rest... This is weather is just... Is just... What's the word?" Ganyma breathed heavily between paces.

[ Didero was practically dancing a little jig to keep himself from sinking in the loose, wet sand. His lusus had already taken to the air at the first sign of dampness. While Didero understood his lusus couldn't have carried him anyway, he still felt rather put-off at Hatoful Dad flaunting his flying abilities like that.

Still, Ganyma could carry Didero, and he did. Just like a princess. By the time Didero had realized what was going on, they were already halfway up a pile of craggy rocks. With all the water seeping out of the ground, it was practically a bluff.

Didero blushed at his predicament, but wasn't about to throw himself back into the water. He... quite liked it up here, actually.

"You okay back there, Luxara? You've been so quiet!" Ganyma called. Not hearing the greenblood was a little disturbing. Was it something she ate? At least stagdad was keeping up.

The flood rose to Ganyma's shins. He splashed nervously as he carried Didero, clutching him to his chest. Fortunately, the rocks offered some solace, but for how long? "Don't worry, we're gonna be just fine... Just fine," assured the tealblood. His composure wasn't broken yet, but this weather was just ridiculous! How was he supposed to prepare for this?

Smiling down at the greenblood, Ganyma saw the water levels slowly come to a stop -- then recede. Crisis averted. He found a nice cranny in the rock walls and ushered the group towards it, taking off his boots and pouring out their watery contents. "Let's rest here for the night."

Ganyma hoped his boots would dry out in the sun and not shrink.

So much was happening way too quickly- just after nearly freezing, the lusus came around, and she was still recovering from such ridiculous weather, fingers still too frigid to grab her net. Before she could step up from that and hopefully not be made fun of too much- SHE was the one who was used to hunts, here! She had a rep to defend! Before she could make up for that, water turned against them too. This was the DESERT. What was going ON. Luxara had been so overwhelmed and confused, and the bouncebeast foot did little to help that. It was too small to have much of an effect, but she wasn't about to admit she was TIRED or anything.

Once they finally stopped for a rest, she still kind of clung to Stagdad, shivering wet and cold. The gerbils were okay, though. SOMEHOW they were doing better than she did despite all the madness they kept being thrown into. And they couldn't even SEE it.

"This is NUTS," she huffed eventually. "When I get home I might just sleep for ever because jeeeeeez. This is enough nutso for one whole SWEEP." And coming from someone who dealt with bigger, hungry wild animals and bloodthirsty highbloods on nearly a nightly basis, that was saying something. Maybe Stagdad could at least hunt something down they could eat instead of stupid jerky. She was starting to miss real meat pretty badly.

This was obviously a child who needed to be coaxed into a nap.

REFRESHING REST POST

Everyone in your group is well rested. Your group recovers three stamina, to a maximum of five! Your group recovers 13 hp, if you were previously at zero!

Current Dice Roll Table:

Upon encountering a heap of weather-ravaged rubble, you spot a familiar hoppity stump laying on the ground. Whether it’s a sign of the dangerous WACKY weather is irrelevant – any troll knows that bouncebeast hooves bring good luck!
Your group has acquired a lucky bouncebeast hoof! The hoof can be used to reroll one dice roll during the meta. When the use of the hoof has been announced, the most recent roll is thrown out and can be re-rolled. The lucky bouncebeast hoof is then discarded from the inventory.

A thick translucent blanket of dust appears ominously on the horizon. It looms closer and closer until finally a distinctive wind whips around its waves of sand and dust, creating a suffocating climate for everyone inside of the storm.
This weather effect will remain in play until a 1, 3, or 5 are rolled on a D6.

Plop. Plop. Something drops from the sky, landing over the hill. Another flops into the sand nearby, making an unpleasant squelching noise. Plop—splat. At your feet, the grey, gooey eye of a fish stares back up at you. Plop. A mackerel. Plop-plop. A few sardines. Plop plop plop plopplopploploplopopop—FISH RAIN!
This weather effect will remain in play until another weather effect is rolled. Players may roll 2d4 for their regular item, location and lusus encounters, but will be plagued with a constant fishy invasion until then.

There’s little time to get to higher ground as a surging wave of water sweeps through the plains. Aided by a localized storm system, the flash flood rolls through quickly and viciously.
This weather effect will remain in play until a 2, 3, 4, or 5 are rolled on a D6.

Something glinting over a bluff catches your eye. A burrow in the side of the dune yields a bounty of shining golden beetles! And as they say, lucky beetles mean good fortune (and megabux$$$).
Each member of the group has acquired 1 lucky beetle that can be redeemed at the end of the meta for a variety of rewards. You cannot carry any more than 5 lucky beetles total; if you run into this encounter more than 5 times, you cannot collect any more.

Through the desert there aren’t many troll dwellings. You do, however, manage to find a long abandoned hive, and decide to continue the search while in a more protected position.
Your group can do two 2D4 rolls while searching the hive. Weather encounters triggered during this time are dispelled immediately, as the group is considered to be sheltered from them at this time.

The peace in the desert seemed too good to be true. Turns out that nice quiet spell was just the calm before the storm – or maybe all of the other weather effects were just too busy getting sucked in to that giant TORNADO straight ahead to do you any harm.
This weather effect will remain in play until a 1 or a 6 are rolled on a D6.

3,4

Passing through the desert, the only thing that is particularly interesting is the grim landmark of a set of lusus bones half-buried in the desert sand. This is not the lusus you’re looking for! Carry on.
Look, there’s a little troll skeleton beside them... Aww!

The pitter-patter of drizzly rain dot the sand with dark freckles. It’s pleasant at first, but soon the rain picks up pace. A roar of rolling thunder heralds a torrential rainstorm! Soon thick, heavy raindrops coat every surface in sight.
This weather effect will remain in play until a 1, 3, or 5 are rolled on a D6.

Ganyma and the kids settled down on the rock face. The night wore to an end and it was time for a rest. "Luxara, you look beat," mentioned Ganyma. He strode over and leaned down to meet her eye. "I can keep watch for now. I think you've earned a rest. Can't have sleepy recruits unable to help with watchin', can we?" he joked.

"Here... Give me your coat and I'll put it out to dry. Let's get all of our clothes nice and toasty,"

Luxara's coat was pretty gnarly. If anything, the sun would make it smell like hot garbage, but it was better than wet lusus AND hot garbage. Ganyma stripped off his own hoodie again and set out the clothes on a ledge outside.

--

Ganyma was awoken by a familiar whop/hiss/grunting sound from outside. Peering over the side of the rock, the lusus was down below.

"Kids... Kids!" He whispered, trying to rouse them in a non-threatening way. "He's down there... Get your nets!"

When the coast was clear (of any other potential threats), Ganyma leapt. It was an impressive stagedive off of the face-- shoeless, shirtless, Ganyma wasn't really thinking of much other than the thrill of the fight. He slammed his elbow into the creature's back and sent it sprawling.

[ Didero jerked awake from under his lusus. He'd been having a very nice dream... He looked over to Ganyma and quickly shoved his lusus off.

"Uh! Uh! Right! Right, I got it!"

Didero simultaneously pulled out his net and his scarf that he'd left out in the sun. Thankfully he threw the correct object.

Ganyma bore down with his elbows repeatedly, slamming the creature into the ground. Its warbling was a welcome sound - a handy wake-up call that left him pumped with adrenaline. "Huu-yaa!" He cried. He was really putting his (still very teal) back into it, now!

At first it had been hard to sleep without her trench coat. It was like her second skin, and it took all of her strength to not yank her coat away from the team boss. It was weird to snuggle up to Stagdad's wet fur with bare arms. Luxara fidgeted a good bit, but sleep won over in the end. Considering how long she had been from her hive at this point, it wasn't exactly a pleasant rest, but it did have its use.

She was almost too fatigued still to get up at Ganyma's insistence. After an initial drag, though, she was back up and at 'em with her net. There wasn't time to grab her coat yet, unfortunately.

Ganyma beat the lusus with his fists until it freed itself from the nets. He clambered up the rocks once more and appraised the kids. "Good to see you were quick on the trigger!" He didn't notice how tired Luxara looked, and instead went to fetch their clothes. His socks and boots felt wonderful on his feet.

"Aaah. I could walk for miles in these babies," he purred. Ganyma picked up his tank top and stretched before slipping it on over his neck, forced his arms through and retied his hoodie around his waist. "Luxara, your coat!" he called. After a moment, Ganyma decided to deliver it to her.

"You ready to go, kiddo?"
