Lumikki stared at the test, she was sure this would be easier then the obstacle course. Staring at the five section quiz Lumi really hoped all her studies back home would help out here. The first section which was Halloween History just looked like a complete and utter failure. And when her nose started twitching at the smell of burning fur it just got worse. Why of all days did today need to be a day when she got set on fire, there was NO way she could concentrate on this section. As soon as the whole being on fire stopped being too much of a distraction Lumi focused on the test again. Math..she didn't like math but she was actually pretty good at it. Finishing the portion and feeling mighty proud of herself she looked at the orangeish glow and shrugged before going on to the next section. Human world studies...blinking, no one said anything about DETH being part of this quiz...she hadn't actually taken any of those studies to heart. But that was okay because the floor decided she didn't really need to take this section of the quiz as she found herself falling through the floor. "...for once I'm okay with this..."She mumbled as she slowly climbed out. Scrambling up to her desk finally she looked down, Literature of Halloween...where was Julian when she needed him. Frowning she couldn't make out the words at all, should she dare read them out...shaking her head she just decides to pick whatever answers look possibly and move on. This test was already giving her a head ache. Feeling a little unsure about the fourth section she was delighted to see she only had one section left. General studies. Smiling happily as she looked at the questions they seemed almost too easy breezing through them she looked down the paper sat there basking in a glow that just seemed to radiate perfection. That was nice that it was done. Handing it in she decided if nothing else she might give Julian an update just to see how he was doing. Tests weren't bad. Hadiyya didn't mind them. Sitting, reading, writing. All generally easy. The water djinn breezed through the first section. It was almost obscene how quickly, how competently, she managed to get through the history portion of the test. And that would be the only easy part for her. As she soon found out in section two, this was no ordinary test. Not only were some of the question just plain strange, but the mechanical bits and pieces that surrounded her were there for more then just visual appeal. She was on the third question when lightning struck. Literally lightning. The bolt struck her, and Hadiyya gave a sudden and pained yelp as electricity surged through her from head on down to her toes. It left her feeling charged, buzzing, and her hands shook ever so slightly for the remainder of the test. Which.. didn't go that well. The third section probably could have gone worse, probably. At least nothing happened to her, but a few of the questions stumped her, and she was pretty sure her shaking hands had made a few more entirely illegible. When the fourth section came around the djinn let out a soft sight of relief. She wasn't huge on literature, but she seemed to know the vast majority of the questions through out this part. Except for that last page.. She wasn't entirely sure what was going on with the crayon scribbles. Bad luck returned for the end of the test. She was pretty sure there were a few questions there that she hadn't had a clue on, and even a little side peak hadn't provided anything helpful. Eventually she just got up and turned her test in. Why did Jory sign up for this? Was he secretly a masochist? Maybe.. He stared forlornly down at his stack of papers, lower lip caught between his teeth. This was not his idea of a good time.. The mechanical whirl and clink of things moving around him had him tensing, poised on the edge of his seat as if ready to bolt, but everything had stopped, and unease, though hard to ignore, was not quite a valid enough excuse for bailing on the test and the rest of his dorm. Whom.. he was not as of yet all that loyal too, but didn't particularly want to alienate. Once he got into it, Jory discovered that it really wasn't as bad as he was expecting. Granted, he didn't know half the s**t on the test, but some of his neighbor's did, and it was proving at least marginally fruitful to peek at the papers around him. But only marginally. Not until the fifth and final section did the monster boil really hit any sort of stride, and by test taking standards it really wasn't much of one. At least he knew the answers to some of these questions. The ones not in code.. Why were they in code? The remainder of the test time was spent searching his packet and desk for some sort of key, but there was nothing. Eventually he got up and wandered off. Due to what could only be considered an act of pure gnome intervention the Nergal student, who had been year one for practically her entire life, or parasitic life, found herself on a desk. Itself, themselves, pronouns weren't important. Was was clearly important was this piece of paper in front of them.
The strange people were kind enough to hand her a penstrictor and so she took it and then stared at the paper. The paper at one point might have stared back. Then, very carefully, in the first section, she began to write everything in Nergal. Of course, all she knew how to write was her name, which she did, over and over again. This writing was pure perfection.
The second section involved a jumble of numbers she had no clue what was going on, and used her auxiliary tail (there were three, but just one was needed) eyes to peer at the boil behind her. Ah yes, that made way more sense! She applied as needed.
She had turned to up and skip off when suddenly she was affronted with yet a third section. Oh, there was more! This was like multiple pages off a colouring book! With intense patience and dedication, she began to write her name carefully in each of the empty lines and then doodle a bunch of bandages and hearts. The boil behind her wasn't exactly pleased with the eye still staring at them. She continued this trend onto the fourth paper, only now it was broken up by parts of conversation she was hearing around such as, "inside voice only" and "I need to use the Other Bathroom". She didn't know how to spell either so the words were just a jumble of what might have been letters. Amityville wasn't exactly known for its typesetting or perfect handwriting or anything. This she would do until the time was over, one eye (the tail eye) now interacting with the other boil behind them. It would occasionally bob, wave, and then insist that they (the one behind them) was circling the wrong thing. What ensued was a small silent battle between the boil and this singular eyeball until said boil's penstrictor ate them.
The rest of the exam went pretty peacefully quiet and she was feeling so proud about it that she skipped off to show this off until several gnomes tackled her down and wrangled the papers from her claws. Ah, finally a test, an observation report to share with his fellow peers his discoveries in the wonderful, brave world of science! Zero began immediately to do this -
- When his paper suddenly burst into flames. Some of the flames began to spread onto his lab coat. He paused for a second to consider what this all meant, as he was unsure whether or not this was part of the experiment process itself. It wasn't until he realized his notebook was also on fire that he decided to do something about it, which was namely to roll around until some gnomes finally took pity on him, doused him, and gave him what he thought was another of the same sheet of paper. There he would begin writing with gusto pouring his (already dead) heart into the paper to show the vast, incredible knowledge of observation he was bestowed with-
- When he came across a strange word. He read it out loud. "Hoomus." Instead of Humans coming to perform for him, thanks to the mistake, instead, a giant bowl of Haunted Hummus appeared from nowhere, and began to do an interpretative dance with a bunch of Scary Nacho Chips. He wasn't too sure what to make of this and wrote undefined variable on his sheet.
The next part involved thankfully one-thousand percent less Hoomus, though it seemed the more he wrote, the bigger the paper got. This was very unusual, and not conductive to the scientific environment at all. The most he wrote for this part was a giant dot.
It wasn't until he got the last part - the ghost dog still wondering what the Hoomus meant and if it was a trick question - when his paper suddenly came to live and tried to take off his arm. There, he would battle it for a bit, then give up, and then lie on the ground in a fit of sadness and despair until the gnomes dragged him away. He had totally fallen for the trick Hoomus question. Rosy sat down to take the exam, not quite sure she liked the idea of having all those dangerous and harmful things pointed at her. Thankfully, there wasn’t much that would have really been able to maim or damage her being a ghost and all, but she wasn’t about to take any chances.
Buckling down, she noticed the first section was on Halloween History. She did as best as she could, squinting at some of the answers. They seemed to be in code – which was odd for a test, but whatever – wasn’t the first time this happened.
The second section made her wince a bit. Math was not her favorite subject. But she did her best. Rosy had gotten halfway through the section when she felt something wet and slimy near her ear. Batting at it, she grumbled as it did not go away for the entire section, throwing her off her game.
Next section was Human Studies, which she felt she was doing quite well on. Until she ran into a page that was just a bullet list of things for someone to buy. This had nothing to do with the Human World at all. Sighing she crumpled the list up and tossed it away before returning to the exam. When she got to the Lit portion of the quiz, Rosy started to doubt some of her answers. But instead of second guessing she pushed through it, quite happy to discover the page glow a soft golden-orange. She wasn’t sure how she did it, but she’d managed to ace the page.
When Rosy got to the General Studies section she groaned again. Once again some of the answers were coded and she didn’t even know how to decode them. She did her best and guessed on those that were codes.
When she was all done, she let out a small sigh of relief. She really hoped she’d done well.Quote: Student Name: Rosy Points Total: 32 + 6 int. = 38 pointsDid you remember to use your Int Stat: yes Did you use your Luck Stat: no

Alright, she had proven herself to be adequately mediocre in the race, and now it was time for Emily Device to take a stand and prove to the world (and herself) that she was not an utter failure at quizzes either! Taking a deep breath, Emily sat down and... Something dropped on her head, knocking her out for the entire first section. She woke up slowly, a little groggy and bleary eyed. It took several minutes to realize that she had missed an entire portion of the test. Oh...oh jack, no.Scrambling to get back in her seat, Emily bit back nervous sobs. And it was math. She was... had she ever taken a single math class in all her time here? Her eyes burned with unshed tears as she tried to power through the test anyway, getting caught up in one section written in a strange language. She tried to sound it out and instead of burning, her eyes were now melting. Emily tried to catch the melted eye bits, hands groping and fluttering, but to no avail. Instead she had to just rest her head in her arms and wait for them to grow back, leaving half the questions blank. At least she couldn't cry as she waited. Blinking her new eyes quickly, she decided they must have grown back wrong, because most of the test was even stranger than the last, in some sort of code. Instead of answering normally, she just filled in the blanks with little doodles of her time in the Human World, lost in fog and being chased by hunters. By the time she got to the part where little doodle Emily was being impaled through the chest with a sword, her mood was strangely lifted. After all, her life has definitely been worse. The next part was easily the most enjoyable, as if featured heavily in Johnny Danger fanfiction that she was already greatly familiar with. Emily easily wrote a lengthy meta essay, breaking apart the symbolism, picking out what went too greatly against canon ( JD would never...!) and then writing a short story of her own as a counter to a few of the things she would have liked to see written differently. To close it up, Emily wrote a song as a companion piece. The entire time, she could tell someone was looking intently at her paper. At first she though it was going to result in being knocked out again, but as time went on, she thought they must be a JD fan. Once she finished, she turned a little and gave them a discreet thumbs-up. The last part of the test was a huge muddle, and she encountered more of that code. But there was also a lot of random things she did know about. Like naming the different parts of a drumkit, what Johnny Danger wore to prom, how to survive alone in the wilderness, familiar anatomy, minipet poop, and the basics of keeping a clean dungeon. When she finally put down her pen, the witch looked cautiously pleased at her performance. Reese had yet to attend a single class. But the nice part of being one of the quietest people in the room is that you also get to hear the most. Over the past few weeks, the ghost had silently been absorbing information from other students' passing conversations, and carefully reading the school books she'd found abandoned around the school. She was building a nice stash, and getting a decent ground level understanding of things. It wasn't quite enough for her to feel confident enough to go to classes just yet, but hopefully it would be enough to keep her from embarrassing herself in front of her dorm. The first section was history and...cooking? With a frown, Reese carefully went over each question, using what she knew to make educated guesses about what she didn't know. She knew it wasn't perfect, but it didn't feel like she did too badly, either. The second part was math, which she felt extremely comfortable with. Methodically reviewing her work, she felt satisfied with everything except the pages of what seemed to be a diary. She tried to see if was perhaps a coded a question, but any time she thought she had an answer, it just ended up wrong somewhere else. The third part was Human Studies, and Reese didn't get far until something shot out and impaled her to the wall. The heavy air around her made it increasingly difficult to get loose. As a ghost she should be able to handle these things better, but that thought just made everything even heavier. By the time she took her seat again, the section had already changed to literature. Furious with herself, Reese began to fill in answers, a little less carefully this time, and that was when when the attack came. AT first Reese tried to ignore them, then avoid them, until finally the air around her became heavier than it had ever been before and she hit them, smashing through the cubicle walls. Dusting off her hands, Reese looked at the clock with dismay, realizing her time was up. Taking her seat with a palpable rage, the ghost began actually just guessing what she could. What kind of a quiz had people attacking you and things impaling you?! Thoughtlessly she set her pencil down on a first aid question. Blades came up from the desk, messily slicing off her hands. A first aid kit appeared in her cubicle, and Reese could only assume that it was up to her to try and fix thing. Angry and frustration burning within her, the ghost was forced to spend the rest of her time reattaching her hands without the use of her hands. If this is what classes were like in the school, it would be a long time before she felt confident enough to attend without making a fool of herself. After succeeding in luring Freya out of the dorms he felt pretty confident that he could own this little section of events at least until he figured out that it was a quiz of some sort. What with all the quiz sheets and uncomfortable chairs and ...
He took a few deep breaths as he opened the packet and began to try and answer questions. As he wrote down answers he noticed someone leaning over toward him and uttering a quiet murmuring repeat of what he wrote down. His concentration was broken for a brief second as he shot the other student a brief glare.
Kettil got to the math portion and suddenly? Lightning jolted electricity through his body rendering hopeless and distracted for several moments before he managed to work down a couple of answers, but not many because math wasn't exactly his forte.
Suddenly there was a trap door opening up under him, threatening to swallow him up. Kettil barely caught the questions on the sheet and as he spent time climbing up he tried to remember the answers that he could put down once he got back up there.
The fourth section was a surprising (or perhaps not) thing for Kettil as he answered the questions so well and completely that the page glowed with a pleasant golden orange light. He felt rather proud of himself as he stared down at it. That section was very easy for him.
And he hated reading for the most part.
Again there was someone peeking over his shoulder as he began on the last section. A glare off ensued as he tried to use his body to block the sheet as he whispered a harsh 'quit it,' at the other figure. It wasn't right! Kettil worked hard to answer the quiz, way too hard! No buffoon would get the best of him. Zel sat down for the test. He wasn't sure how they were going to present the questions but if it was like any other exam he'd had - well it was going to be interesting. Right out the gate he winced as he was molested by one of the alumni. This was not proper behavior he felt for a former school member but he'd lived with it. It went downhill from there. He managed to eek out some questions the rest of the way - but only by sheer book smarts did he manged to get any questions right for the rest of the test. When it was all said and done, he just laid his head down in shame. Darren sat down to the test not quite sure what to expect. But once he started he wasn't sure what he was really worried about. He breezed through the first section - which amused him, it seemed like the questions had been really easy. The next couple of sections though weren't so great, but he managed to eek his way through them as best he could. He couldn't count how many times sheer dumb luck had probably saved him. Kier had missed the first little game for the house cup due to being sidetracked by all the flashing little booths, their scents, and all the bright flashing colors of students. There was a sense of guilt that she should have been there however they had managed to win the race, which was good start for them. Now it was a challenge of intelligence, making Kier almost wished she had done the obstacle course actual book things were not her forte.
Taking her seat in one of the small cubicles Kier started to play with the penstrictor until the whirring noise of machinery appeared over the edge of the boring brown wall. Kier gave them a somewhat worried grin as she looked at them before setting her eyes over the first section of the quiz. Halloween History, she groaned as she started to read the first question. When was the Countess Bavelory first recognized for her science into creating fear exploding bath tubs? Stupid question, Kier thought as she started to chew on the penstrictor. Something beneath her clinked and a less than a second later the floor gave underneath her chair as the rushing air passing by her filled her ears.
“OUCH WHAT THE JACK NAME….” She screamed as the chair hit the bottom of the pit and her on top of it. It was at least seven feet deep from her judgment and the walls when she touched them were apparently made of slick mud. Great, just great Kier thought as she climbed on top of the chair and tipped it enough that it leaned against the wall. A half hour later she had finally made it to the top, out of breath and covered in wall mud. Scrambling in the grass Kier tried to fill as many of the bubbles in on random but the buzzard screeched.
Great…. Kier thought as the History section was immediately picked up and the next one was dropped off. She screamed in horror, it was math. This was going to be worse than the history section as the buzzard to start erupted. Chewing on the end of the penstrictor Kier started to work the first problem when out of nowhere a shock of electricity surged through her body. Her hair was standing on ends as she looked around, what was that. Shrugging she started to work on the problem again. BZZZZZT Another shock went through her body as she winced. After a few more shocks Kier gave up and just started to fill in as many bubbles as she could and scrambling down some sort of number mixed with letters.
As the buzzard screamed for the end of the math section Kier relaxed, the shocking was over finally. For once she was actually looking forward to Human Studies as the machines passed them out. Where is the meaty beat chamber located? Well how the jack she was suppose to know Kier thought as she kept reading the same stupid question over and over.
Click
Kier sighed, as the ground disappeared and the chair fell. Another half hour later Kier made it back out of the pit again and scrambled to circle in as many bubbles as she could. Eventually she was going to become the worlds greatest pit climber she was sure of it.
The buzzard sounded and the next round of the quizzes was handed out. This one was easier, it was about stories things that she had heard or if not told herself. It went rather peaceful and even started to glow a golden orange light when she was done. Perfect.
The last section General Studies went just as well except for the random piece of bark that she was sure was part of some sort of conspiracy or someone's missing snack. Either way Kier was relieved when she handed in the last section. Stupid quizzes. Joachim had skipped the obstacle course, after the last obstacle course of doom and being frozen he decided that he was better suited to be ready for any sort of quizzes or events that tested his intelligence and grace. He did have to say there was really no need for the rather monstrosity of machines that hovered over the edges of the cubicle that he was sitting at. It wasn’t as if he was going to run away. Yet.
The first part of the exam was over history, which was relatively easy for the reaper considering his family was older than most and he had read all of the biographies of composers in his family library. Joachim gave a faint smile as the ease of actually making some points for the Reaper house before realizing the unsettling feeling of being watched. Looking around he caught a glimpse of eyes peering into his cubicle. He glared as they whisked away to their owner. A few minutes later the feeling returned and Joachim glared and the wondering eyeballs and started a staring contest with the cheater. Of course it continued until the section was complete.
The next section was math, of course not really Joachim’s strongest abilities but he would settle with attempting it as long as the cheater would stop attempting to peer over his shoulder. For the most part the section went on rather uneventful other than the random diary page. Dull, whatever professor it was he or she talked about nothing than their minipets and how they adored the way the purred and how they wished to dress up like one. It borderline creepy as he continued to read and a shiver went down his spine. He never wanted to see any of his professor dressed up in a scareon suit purring at the students.
As the buzzard rang he handed it in as quickly as he could and started on the Human Studies. It was easy, well except the random code that he was sure was some sort of trick being played on him but for the most part easy.
The other two sections went along as well rather uneventful and easy for the reaper. He had managed to do well enough on the literature section that it had started to glow as if he had gotten every question right. The general studies was not as easy especially when one of the cooking questions seemed to make the air smell like food from the booths. His stomach wouldn’t stop growling.
When the last buzzard sounded he bolted for something to eat.Quote: Student Name: Joachim von Helmar Points Total: Section 1: 4 Section 2: 4 + 4 = 8 Section 3: 7 Section 4: 6 + 4 = 10 Section 5: 6 Grand Total: 35 pts Did you remember to use your Int Stat: Yes Did you use your Luck Stat: No

well this wasn't a setting she really liked. Verusha never had liked sitting in classrooms all day in a cramped desk, with nothing to do but listen to a droning voice talk about this that and the other. And yet here she was again. But she should have known that a school hosting an event like this would have... school involved work.
Settled in her chair, her white eyes flickered to the various instruments of torture that appeared around her, a grin lifting at the corner of her lips... now this was interesting. Letting her gaze return to the paper before her, she started getting down to brass text.
she had a rocky start, but seemed to get into a good enough groove the further in she got, and finished strong.Quote: Student Name: verusha Points Total: section 1: 1 section 2: 10 section 3: 10 section 4: 10 section 5: 6 + 4 = 41 Did you remember to use your Int Stat: yes Did you use your Luck Stat: no

Ev wasn't the boasting, or cocky sort, but this challenge she knew was her element, and where she was confident she would shine! When she saw the paper and pencil awaiting her at a desk, the ghoul could hardly wait to dig into what ever was etched on that parchment!
the additional distractions were new, and something she attempted to ignore, but they proved to be quite persistent in gaining her attention. This effected her performance, and kept her focus from being solely on the task at hand, causing mistakes to be made, and questions to be confusing... or downright impossible for her to comprehend! it was the only time the demon had felt so unprepared for a test, and mildly disappointed in herself for letting outside distractions be her excuse. Quote: Student Name: Ev Points Total: Section 1: 5 Section 2: 4 +2 Section 3: 4 +2 Section 4: 6 Section 5: 3 +4 = 30 Did you remember to use your Int Stat: yes Did you use your Luck Stat: no
