The she-wolf was excited for this! The course looked like tons of fun. And, well, in typical Amityville style; dangerous too. Which only added to the 'fun' aspect, right?! Riiiiight. LW inhaled, letting all the scents be catelogued away in her mind as she crouched down and prepared to start the race. And then she was off, doing pretty damn good.
Or so she'd thought.
LW yelped as another student cut her off and she stepped on something spikey (was that a tail?!). But this didn't slow her down too much. Or dampen her spirits.
Err, well. That was the mind set she was trying to keep. The climbing wall, though. LW scowled. She swore to Jack that if one of those balls came falling on her she was totally going to have a chat with someone. Probably Arel. Because who didn't like chatting with him? Or bitching. Flexing her fingers and toes, LW attacked the wall, using the strange spiked hurdles for support and hey! She actually didn't do too bad!
Oh Jacking hell, what?! The she-wolf tried to avoid the spikey pit of... Steve? Except that didn't work out quite how she meant for it to. And he managed to get her a few times. When she did get past him, she accidentally touched a cuddly bomb. Plus a few more. Skulls! LW growled and dashed through them, groaning as she leaped across to the first pillar. Then another - which crumbled under her and she almost fell - with yet another.
Curses and hexes, Amityville!
The swimming portion, however went like a breeze. LW launched right into the water, careless of any obstacles or other students. She just powered through like any werewolf could, laughing at a few startled faces she passed.
Okay so maybe she shouldn't have laughed so much. Ice and slick oil were not meant for furry feet! LW skidded and slipped and tried to keep her balance while racing through. Only to wind up on her butt as one of those previous students rushed past, totally in their element. The she-wolf growled, scrambling through until the mud. And then she just huffed and puffed until finally, finally reaching the finish line.
Where she just crawled out of the way and collapsed to catch her breath.

She really didn't understand the point of this. Nor why she'd allowed herself to sign up. Perhaps it was simply in the hope that she was doing something right? It was a social trend to participate, no? Nessy just frowned at the start of the obstacle course. With a small sigh, the ghost started forward, not understanding the point of rushing right away when there were sharp turns and was that fire?
Well, at least she didn't do too badly during this first stretch! Only got singed a bit by the wall of fire. And crashed into a corner. Definitely not too bad.
The hurdles were merely passed because a lady in a dress did not jump hurdles. Or, okay, she didn't 'pass' them. Nessy simply ducked under each one until she got to the strange giant balls. What was one to do here? She watched a few other students attempt it. Then tried it herself.
She totally had this, guys!
The ghost drifted swiftly across Steve as he was chewing on another student, form flickering as she approached the bombs. It wasn't difficult at all to avoid them, as she was awkard and not one for affection. The pillars were mastered much the same way as the giant red balls were.
It was the water that confused her. She felt strange around it and could ghosts even swim?! Pursing her lips, Nessy moved a little slower through this obstacle, finding herself suddenly pushed under water by another student. Sputtering, the ghost scowled and kicked at a few minipets that tried to nibble her dress.
When she climbed out, dripping water with every step, Nessy slipped fantastically on the ice. The quiet ghoul struggled to keep her balance, but slid right off the course.
And it was a long Jacking way back up.
Nessy didn't think this was fun anymore.
When she finally made it through, the ghoul swore to never attend a social gathering like this again!

Sophie peered down the course, as best as she could given the winds and turns that greeted her in the first section. She had to admit, sport activities weren't her strongest suit and she pursed her lips and fidgeted for a moment before taking a deep breath and making her way down the course's beginning. She found her speed surprising and was actually reaching each turn with only a few stumbles here and there.
She eyed the wall and flexed her hands. Surely her death grip would come in handy here. It seemed her hypothesis was correct and she pulled herself up and over the wall and then onward, over the spiked hurdles and jumping the balls with what seemed like expert grace but she was certain was complete dumb luck.
Sophie paused to regain some energy, eyeing Steve with a raised brow. Still she managed to get past him, landing in a roll on the other side. Making her way through the bombs, she thanked Jack for her small size. It made maneuvering much easier.
The pool didn't prove to be very difficult. Not breathing was a plus and she moved through it with ease, only stopping occasionally when a large minipet tugged on her hair. She emerged with a grin and a chest puffed out with pride.
Eyeing the finale', she was perhaps a little disheartened. Ice, oil and mud? She made her way down the slippery slope and was going quite well until a first year charged into her, screaming sorry as they continued flying along the path. Picking herself off the ground, she frowned and pursed her lips, using every bit of strength and speed in her to zoom to the finish line. There she bent with her hands on her knees. She'd be breathless if she didn't breathe in the first place.Quote: Student Name: Sophie Van Rotte Points Total: 6 + 8 + 6 + 8 + 4 (+5 speed) = 37 Did you remember to use your Speed Stat: Yep Did you use your Luck Stat: Nope

Lee flexed and unflexed his knuckles. He didn't get out much, and he hadn't done anything like this before.
Their House banner flapped in the open air.
He hadn't even known what he was, until someone had told him and handed him a set of keys to a room he could lock and unlock, when he chose. And now he was with them, people like him.
There was a loud noise, and people ran.
So he ran too.
The first part was easy. Stay off the edge, stay on his feet. He didn't expect the sudden start at the end, or the embroiling explosion of heat, but he avoided both.
He climbed with strained strength and determination, wiping slime off on somebody else as he passed them. He vaulted the hurdles, and after watching a few of the other racers, bounced across the stretch of water.
Lee would have gotten swallowed, exploded, and on the wrong end of gravity, but he took one look at the long, difficult path of distant shrieks and faded. Not entirely. Maps of veins flashed in and out, and his eyeballs hovered weirdly when he was distracted. It made for a strange target, and made him difficult to pinpoint. He blinked in and out of view. And the other advantage he had was that he was tireless. His muscles kept up the same, steady strength.
They took him through the water.
And when he hit the last stretch, it was without losing any agility from the very first hill.
He emerged feeling...satisfied.
He blinked back on, solid now, everything except his skin, his muscles putting on an anatomical show for the camera.Quote: Student Name:Points Total: (10 + 6 + 2 + 6 + 10) +7 speed = 41 Did you remember to use your Speed Stat: yes Did you use your Luck Stat: no

This was the kind of stuff Verusha lived for. The competition, the physical requirement to push herself to excel using pure muscle power. Playing sports all her life would surely give her an advantage in this game... Glancing to the competition around her, Verusha smirked, before bolting right off the bat once the signal was given.
But man.. that first route was not very forgiving! it was intense, and there wasn't much hope in having much control in the situation. She had plenty of slip ups, and stumbles, but managed to somehow stay on her feet, and avoid those who were toppled already on the ground. There were some bumps and shoves from others in the race, The sight of the flames make her own eyes light with delight, and a grin peel across the reapers face. Now that's what she was talking about!
Getting by pretty easily, she heads onto the next challenge, just in time to avoid getting full on damage from a student that fell from up on the gigantic wall.. though their arm did slap against her shoulder, making her start a little slow. But she made up for it by pushing off those slime covered jutted rocks with gusto, constantly reaching for the next. Well that hadn't been so bad.. she was over it! and onto the next obstacle! ...and this one didn't seem to be too hard at all. Smirking as those who got caught up in the creatures trap, Verusha didn't waste her time to admire the aftermath.
Arriving at the water challenge, Verusha had to hop over the various critters that lined the water before pushing through the resisting liquid. Though fire was her main course of magic, that never kept her from appreciating it's enemy! She ran into a few snags, a net tangling around an arm, but managed to break free with good time to spare. Her final challenge wasn't as pleasant though. The slippery grounding was torturous, causing her to fall on her butt multiple times, and struggle to get her footing. But she somehow managed, and made a final leap for the finish line.

The course didn't look that difficult, Taima decided. Of course, it would have been much easier if she had just been allowed to fly over it, but the gnomes in the helicopters overhead were...discouraging. More annoying than anything else, really, but not being able to fly made the course seem a little more challenging, and there was little Taima loved more than a good challenge. It started out simply enough: the twists were more of an annoyance than a hindrance, but the sharp downhill angle meant she could speed through them faster. By the time she reached the wall of flame, though, she was unable to stop. She almost toppled off of the sharp drop immediately after it; fortunately, she had built up enough momentum to leap across to the next section, though it had been a near thing. So far, so good--and a little singed, but that was okay. The wall of slime was both difficult and disgusting, and Taima nearly slid right off of it a few times before reaching the top. The spiked hurdles were suspiciously easy, and the bobbing red balls weren't that hard either. She didn't pause over any of it, just kept moving forward. She had built up enough speed that she managed to clear the spiky pit with a little bit of room to spare. She navigated around the floating bombs fairly easily, and the crumbling pillars weren't too much of a problem, either. The long stretch of water that came after it, though, gave her pause. She just wasn't built for swimming. She could bob along easily enough, but water--in this form--just wasn't her element. She couldn't go back, though, not after she had come so far. With a deep breath, she jumped as far into the water as she could. Her wings managed to keep her afloat and even helped propel her along a little, though that only lasted as long as it took for the feathers to get sodden and heavy. She didn't have much further to go, though her way was hindered further by the waves created by the other students as they passed her. Finally, she was able to pull herself out. She nearly fell back in as she slipped a little bit on the ice. She looked down the track to see what obstacles were ahead of her and noticed that the finish line was in sight. Well, ice and oil she could handle--the rest she could deal with as it came. She shuffled on the ice, not so much trying to run on it, but trying to build enough momentum to allow gravity to do the rest. Sure enough, she started sliding down faster and faster. It was easy enough to keep herself steady as she used her wings to keep her balance. Her plan seemed to work out even better as she hit the oil. It was a little harder to keep herself on course, but it made her go faster, fast enough that she was able to jump just before she hit the beginning of the mud pit and land right on the finish line. It didn't stop her from landing messily in the mud, but it had shaved a little bit off of her time. Totally worth it.Quote: Student Name: Taima Points Total:Section 1: 0 + 7 speed = 7 Section 2: 6 Section 3: 8 Section 4: 4 Section 5: 10 Total: 35 Did you remember to use your Speed Stat: Yes Did you use your Luck Stat: No

Deshi took a deep gulp of saliva. Other students were whizzing by her left and right. It had only been seconds since the gun went off and she could see students going through... was that FIRE?! Deshi closed her eyes and slid down the steep hill, almost falling off of the edge to make a crooked turn. The wall of fire was intimidating. Tall and looming, it stood without a way around it. Deshi rolled up her sleeves, but they were too loose and fall down half a second later. She was a cat! Climbing and landing on her feet when she fell was her specialty! She gripped it and burned the bottoms of her hands. How lame! She quickly hid her discomfort and headed up the wall. The lack of protruding handles and slime made the wall a mission and a half. Sliding down the wall as gracefully as she could, she was face to face with hurdles. Spiky ones. Deshi leaped over them scraping her leg a little, but she made it through without too much injury. She slowed down after the cut though. Deshi let out a hiss as she saw water before her. She pounced on the ball, slipping and falling into the water. She was degraded to doggy paddle her way to the other side to continue the race. After shaking off the water, she wanted to quit. Games were supposed to be fun! Getting soaked in water and getting cuts and burns wasn't fun! But for the sake of her team, she dreaded on. The next event was crumbling pillars. It seemed easy enough. With a quick and light foot, Deshi hopped from one to the next easily, even getting a smile on her face from the fun this event was. She didn't even notice Steve trying to throw her back, though she almost got caught a few times. "Another pool of water?! You've got to be kidding me!" Deshi wailed as she was faced with a swimming portion of the race. She had just dried herself off and again she had to get wet. She dove in and began to pathetically doggy paddle her way across. Another student, faster and better at swimming had zoomed by her, splashing water in her face. Before she could say anything, they were gone in a crowd of other competitors, terrifying obstacles and giant aquatic minipets. Deshi climbed out of the pool, managing to make it over with a small bite mark and not setting any mines off. She swore never to go swimming again. She ran to the next obstacle but started to get chills. The water on her clothes began to freeze over. She looked down and noticed that the last stretch was ice and oil. A slippery slope indeed. With one wrong move, she'd be out of the running. She took a light step onto the ice, giving herself a mini heart attack as she slipped. Thankfully her other foot was still on solid ground. She got down on her butt and began to slide herself with her arms and legs. Hey! This was pretty good. She got through the ice quickly but ended up with a cold butt. The oil proved to be harder, causing Deshi to fall flat on her face a few times before finally crossing the finish line. Pickworth was determined to make a responsible contribution to his team. So he tried really, really hard.
And didn't lose his hat either.
By the end of the course (and after a lot of hop, skip, jumping) he made it to the end of the line with a tentative and mud-covered smile.
It was only at that point he realized this was on skellyvision, and that while his dad was not the biggest supporter of entertainment, if the event made the news. ...Oh tombstones.Quote: Student Name:Points Total: (8 + 8 + 6 + 10 + 4) + 4 speed = 40 Did you remember to use your Speed Stat: yes Did you use your Luck Stat:

Now... Ev knew this was not her forte at all. Physical activities were one of the few things she didn't excel in. It'd proven to be a little difficult, given she had multiple strings of roots that made up her lower half, even if she did contort them often into the appearance of 'normal' legs that others tended to have. And this obstacle course only further proved how little she was in terms of usefulness for her team.
It was pretty much a struggle through and through for her, all attempts ending up with her lagging behind, and getting into all sorts of difficulties, and troubles. But she made it to the end... somehow... with a very puny amount of points to contribute to her team.Quote: Student Name: Ev Points Total: Section 1: 2 Section 2: 2 Section 3: 6 +3 Section 4: 2 Section 5: 2 = 17 Did you remember to use your Speed Stat: yes Did you use your Luck Stat: no

So the there was oil; there was no easy way to pass through this part. It was going to get gooey no matter what. Slipping and sliding was one thing, but with the additional mud to come? Still drenched by the swim and oiled by the past course, Levi took a sprinting start on the mass near the finish line, performing a long jump to at least give her a decent lead over West. It didn't keep the ghoul from wading through the murky substances herself, but it at least meant they'd be depending on endurance now and she'd given herself a head start. Neither of them was to be taken lightly for endurance; if there was one skill Levi could agree they both exhibited equally, it was that sheer determination to complete a goal.
If she didn't stop, he wouldn't either.
Keeping her tail as high as her head, the ghoul realized that her critter companion likely wasn't lending itself to her weight in this circumstance, but like hecate she was going to let it go. Pressing on, Levi would crawl out of the mud eventually, tail wriggling to remove excess oil and/or mud from itself while thunking the floresce on the ground in its coils. Resting her hands on her knees and looking out over the mud, Levi spotted those horns again and grinned. He might've been on another "team" but West was still someone she wanted to succeed. C'mon, boil! I seen ya'move faster than that! Arms excitedly wavering like she was some sort of beacon, Levi continued to take in heaps of breath, occasionally hollering over the mud pool to the demon boil. She'd keep this up until he reached the end.

His feet were little more than cumbersome meat blocks as he passed the border between ice and oil, but still West continued to run, every muscle in his body straining to keep him from slipping. He hadn't planned on giving up his quest to thoroughly trounce his ghoulfriend, but when he saw her cross the finish line well ahead of him, he knew all of his planning was for naught. The demon grinned at the tatzel as he slogged through the mud and completed the race himself, keeping his eyes on her face as he made his way to her side, despite the fact that she was damp and slathered in oil and mud.
"Yer s'posed t'be booin' me, ghoul." Even though he was smiling, his words came in huffs as he fought to catch his breath. "Nice catch," he added, chuckling at the fish coiled in her tail. "C'mon. Let's get this crap offa us."

Malodore was not much for running. Nor for speed. Nor for climbing. It wondered, briefly, what the hell it had been thinking when it signed up for this. This was precisely why mad fits of school spirit were to be avoided at all costs... But there was nothing for it. The plague doctor gave the course ahead one more withering look, took a deep breath expressly for the purpose of heaving out a long sigh, and set off. ... To its utter shock, it found itself veritably flying down the first section. Flying? Or was it more of a barely controlled fall? Its wings fanned desperately, feather-blades reaching for air that they weren't quite big enough to hold effectively. The fire at the end loomed, and Malodore made a terrified noise and... Well, something happened. It wasn't sure what. But it was on the other side of the fire and it wasn't on fire, so... It probably fell on the next section just to balance that wild ride out, really, and then it was a blur of green - "Hail Steve," it sighed, just to be safe - and then... well, it could cheat a bit on swimming, really, since it could just walk along the bottom, which ended up being quite a bit faster than most of the swimmers it could see. And then it finished up with a good solid fall into neck-deep mud. ... It all balanced out, it supposed, straggling across the finish line. Quote: Student Name: L.C. Anna was doing her best not to be terrified... but she'd faced worse, and been in real, actual for-real danger before, back during the Tear, and she'd been okay at first because she didn't know to be scared, and then because she had to keep going no matter what. Compared to that this was easy... right?
... Evidently so, because everything went by like an absolute blur, probably because she practically tumbled down the first bet and some kind of insane momentum kept her going. She ended up just past the finish line, a tangle of mud and water and maybe a fish in her hat wondering what.

She'd barely moved into her dorm, and yet... here Tamsin was, ready to race. But the Ghost dormitory, for all that she hadn't yet met a single person, was her pack now, and she would do anything for pack. Especially run. Most especially run.
Run run run run run yes good.
Too bad she wasn't anywhere near as used to running on two legs as she was on four, and the Cwn Annwn ended up tottering through the course, falling at odd moments, though there were a few times when the limb coordination just clicked and she was zooming along... until she thought about it too hard, and then it was thud city.

Fire. Lovely.
Standing from the top of the course she could see down towards the flame below. Stretching her legs a bit she took a spot in the lineup to run the course. She was still sporting her demon dorm hoodie with the I Rule modification to it, and planned to prove it too. When the gun fired she darted down the hill. The sudden turn wasn't the issue, her heavy boots stomped into the dirt dragging her down slowing her speed as she turned for the wall of flames a grim look on her face. Dashing through the flames she stumbled onto the other side of the course tumbling against the rock wall beating out a series of flames on her clothes. (4 points)
"s**t s**t s**t..." She was failing to keep her time up at this point. Staring up at the wall she let out a low growl, fingers of bone and flesh clawd at near flawless stone draging and hauling her body up, hand over hand, boots kicking foot holds into the wall as she climbed past the slime. Like hell if she would let the fire slow her down. She was still going slow and steady, but she finally cleared the top of the wall with a grunt rolling into the next stage. (2 points)
Standing at the edge she looked into the pit, and up at familiar bombs. Her only thought? Jack Damn You Nox. She started forward dashing towards the clearest path remembering an insanity beast and it's many vinned arms, it couldn't be too mu- WHUMP! She felt the blow before she even saw the vine sweep her feet. She was falling face first, "Dammit!" Tucking into a roll Sammy recovered bouncing back up hissing as the vines lashed at her again, she was starting off horrible, but she made up for it as she ran towards the end sliding under a bomb whizzing over head even. (0+7speed stat)
The pool was next, she groaned, her boots where stripped off stumbling as she moved forward throwing them aside before diving in. With her boots gone the race became a fair bit easier. Especially the swimming. Actually she had the trip to hunter island back long ago when they got ship wrecked as thanks for teaching her how to swim.
One of the minis in the water looked oddly like Riley's head too... (8 points)
Finally she was at the end of it all, the ice once more not a problem, though she almost missed having a Lepus guide on her back like she had during the horsemen games. She took to the ice with a sprint letting the smooth surface slide along her cold numb flesh, sliding along she slid through the oil just as easily before stomping her way through the sand and falling over the line with a gasp.
That whole thing took a bit out of her and she simply stared at the sky admiring it for a moment before swearing again, "s**t! I have to find my jack damn boots!" And with that she scrambled up off to run along he side of the course and find said boots again. ( 8 points)
