Whatcha doin wandering the halls like this?" Logan was in no mood to be bothered, after everything that happened with Alex, Kali, and Zero. Plus, that new mutant...Mugen... there were getting to be too many kids around, and he was worried about another fight flaring up.

She went bouncing away down the hall, music blaring loud enough to be heard all the way down the hall. Logan was at one end, she had just turned the corner, and Logan could still hear it.

"Actually, I was wondering if you'd give some of the other kids a demo of how to do things in the Danger Room. They're...well, they're not exactly bad...but...not good either. I figured a little show would help."

She wasn't a fan of them and she knew they were as much a fan of her. Alex got what he wanted. He pushed her buttons. He found what she was made of and Kali had no regrets, only that she didn't get there sooner.
Her mind was on many things. What would she do? What would her professors say? Why did she care about anything they had to say? Why were her classes so boring? Why did she have to learn anything about science? What did people her age do in their free time? What was her age?
Kali rounded the corner, not knowing or caring where she was going. As long as it wasn't to see Hank, or to class. Science, she hated it. She avoided it at most costs.
Suddenly, the halls took on a new form, Kali winced as she felt her heart race. The walls were no longer brown or naturally lit. They were a sterile white. Footsteps sounded near her as she glanced around, walking carefully, down the hallway.
No!
Kali blinked hard and began to run. She ran straight into Logan. The impact set the walls back to their normal wooden state. Her emerald eyes bolted around the hallway, past Logan, to the blue elf and back to Logan. Her heart was still racing and she was clearly confused.
Tricks? No...oh, shi- it happened again...take a breath...
Kali tried to think her way out of the fear, driven by a flash back. She felt sick, sick with fear.

Nightcrawler was waiting for an answer from Logan when suddenly Kali ran into them...well, specifically, into Logan. "Are you okay?" He stepped forward, tail swaying, to help steady her. Logan frowned as the elf asked him to do a D.R. demonstration. "I thought I wasn't allowed back in there without Storm, Cyclops, or the Professor there, to...er...keep me in check. But-" Suddenly, he felt a push at his back, and he stepped forward, surprised. Turning around, he found the girl- Kali, who had just run into him, not paying attention. Oh, great, not her again...

⇢ frøm thε αshεs » A FIRE SHALL BEWOKEN « This sickness passed without any sign of her feeling sick. She was able to keep what little contents lay in her stomach, there. She felt something steady her as she swayed before pulling herself together as Logan turned around.
"I...uh...I'm fine," she said, though it seemed more like a question, than an answer. "Really...I'm late for class," she said. Hoping to avoid any further questions. Realizing where she was, she also noticed the clock on the wall. She was really late for class. Classes were over now. Suddenly she felt small. Where was she really going before the flashback?
She hesitated as she eyed Logan. "Apparently, I've missed it...I'll try not to think and walk at the same time, next time." That was about as good of an apology that she was going to get. She couldn't let them know. She wasn't crazy. Even if they did know, they would ask questions. Questions she didn't want to answer.

Kurt, who had noticed the time before Kali had, said "Uh, Kali, classes are over...so try again. What's wrong?" He mentally called out to Xavier, Uh, Professor, Kali's here with Logan and me in the halls, she wasn't in class, and she seemed to be running from something. I'm not sure where she was going or who she was with, but what do you want me to do?Logan glared at Kali, not liking this one bit. "Were you with the soldier, by any chance? The two of you have seemed very...cozy...lately."

⇢ frøm thε αshεs » A FIRE SHALL BEWOKEN « Kali glanced from face to face. "I'm fine," she told Kurt, this time a little more sure of herself. She didn't know how to explain or what to explain. Zero wanted her to talk to someone but answers led to questions. They always led to questions.
"We had a meeting of the minds," Kali answered Logan, with all honesty. "We aren't cozy. I get about as cozy as a porcupine when it is feeling threatened. We talked and I am beginning to see that I'm not here, alone. He explained to me that you, my professors and Charles are not against me." Kali hesitated. With that said she had to answer Kurt, she frowned. "I forgot I was here," she said, now looking straight down the hall, past Logan and Kurt. She took a breath. "I was running because I thought I was in a different place. A place where I was alone."
Kali bit her tounge. Never had she ever regretted anything until today. She was saying more than she should. It felt so right and wrong at the same time. Like a weight had been lifted, revealing a new fear. A new vulnerability.
I'm so dead...

Kurt tilted his head, tail swishing, then shrugged. "Well, he's right, none of us are against you. Now, Logan, if that's truly the case, then I will have to talk to Scott, Storm, or Xavier. I really believe that you can give them the push that they need." With that, he teleported out in a puff of blue smoke. Logan coughed as Nightcrawler's smoke waved in front of his face. Waving it away, he growled, "Well I wasn't insulting it. Actually, it's a good thing that you and him are getting close. At least you're opening up to somebody a little bit." ((Nightcrawler goes to Xavier's Office))

⇢ frøm thε αshεs » A FIRE SHALL BEWOKEN « Kali took a step back when Kurt disappeared in a puff of blue smoke. "Doesn't he ever walk anywhere," she grumbled, to herself. She was surprised that Logan wasn't yelling at her and didn't mean to insult her talking with Zero. Kindness in any form, from Logan wasn't something she ever expected.
"It's not opening up," she said, still choosing to fight, where she could. "It's...more of me understanding what exactly goes on here," she said and shifted her feet. She knew for a fact that Logan could understand about her flashbacks. She had read his file. She shook her head. What was the use? Logan would be the first in line to kill her.
"I...I didn't mean to interrupt," she said and glanced down the hall, not sure where she would go now that classes were over. The walls were still brown and there were still windows. Kali breathed a little easier.

Sensing that he may be going a little too far, Logan decided to step back a little. "Well, I can let it slide this time. Plus, you were with a teacher, so go ask Zero for a pass and you're good. Just don't skip any more classes, okay?"

⇢ frøm thε αshεs » A FIRE SHALL BEWOKEN « Kali resisted the urge to tell Logan exactly why she wasn't in that particular class in the first place. That would only bring up questions. Questions meant answers. Answers meant more questions and Logan wasn't as stupid as her superiors. He could put two and two together. He had lived long enough. The safest thing to do was to avoid that subject all together. Yes, avoid science.
Kali didn't say anything. That was the smart thing to do. She had retorts lined up, and comebacks to throw back at him. But now wasn't the time to fight. She had avoided a fight earlier, by only scaring the life out of Alex Fisher. There was no need to fight Logan. There was no way she would win.
Kali glanced out the window and spied the garden below. It was a nice garden. Kali took a breath and wondered how anyone went about finding what they liked to do when they didn't know a thing about their free self.

Well, she's thinking...is she really wanting to pick a fight? Logan started to growl at her, but then realized that with her history, she would never have had free time before. "If you're trying to figure out what to do, training might be a good way to get your mind off things."
