Daniel smiled softly, hugging the detective tighter. "Good, 'cause i don't wanna lose another mama. I like having one again, and I really like having you as a Daddy." He bit his lip, nuzzling the man. "I... I love you, Daddy."

"Bye bye, Daddy!" he giggled, looking up at Ellery. "Do you love Daddy too?"
Ellery blushed, looking after the detective. "I... I think I might," he breathed before starting off, tickling the laughing child every now and then.

"Not as hard as when we were at the hospital," answered Ellery, his nose red and his eyes still rimmed. Every now and then, a tear would come out, but he was still alright. Turning to Fredrich, he wiped the last of the tears from his cheek and smiled softly. "Thank you for being so nice to me. I'm sorry about being such a baby about all of this. I just... I really don't want him gone. I didn't expect to love him so much." He looked down at the tissue in his lap, folding it meticulously. "You must think I'm such a wimp."

"I already texted someone, he's on his way with a bag," he answered, unbuckling himself and stepping out of the car. He ran a hand through his hair. "Hey, do you have a piano in your apartment?" asked Ellery, green eyes peering up at the detective.

Ellery started for the building, holding open the door. "Yes, ever since I was little," he replied, smiling. "As a songwriter, I have to know how to play many instruments for the background for the songs, so I play almost every day. I was thinking of trying out my solo song for the new album that we're recording in a few weeks. You don't mind, do you?"

"Never for me. I can't stand using a computer for something when I can use a piano for it," he replied harshly. When they reached the apartment, he rushed over to the piano, looking through the books. Selecting the one that looked the least used, he set it on the stand on and opened to a page. Ellery smiled softly. "Ah, I know this one," he whispered, closing his eyes and starting to play.

Ellery swayed with the music's tempo, his facial expressions changing with each change of notes. He fell into his work, obviously in love with what he was doing. Once finished, he took a deep breath and opened his eyes, staring at the keys for a second before looking up for Fredrich. "Hey, my guy dropped the bag at the door. Can you tug it inside and grab the sheet music at the top for me?"

While he waited for Fredrich, Ellery took the coat off, exposing his bare upper body to the air. It was warm enough not to give him chills, but he still didn't expect the difference, and his nipples were evidence of this. He folded up the coat, setting it aside before looking up at Fredrich and the book. He looked at it, then smiled and took it. "Yup, it is!" The songwriter lifted the other book from the stand and replaced it with the other one. He then returned his gaze to Fredrich. "Hey, this song I'm doing for my solo on the album, will you listen to it and tell me if it's any good?" he asked, reaching up to brush his brown hair from his eyes. Troublesome locks, he was definitely going to cut it soon.

"Because Daniel lost my shirt and I haven't been able to get another one on since you gave me the coat to wear until I got a shirt, which is that bag," he answered, taking the bag and pulling out one of his usual shirts: a long-sleeve, very thin powder blue v-neck that hung loosely on his skinny frame. Setting his hands on the piano, he looked up at Fredrich and smiled. "Here goes nothing."He turned back to the music, pushing on the keys and starting to play.
The song came remarkably easy to him, his fingers flying across the notes as his sweet voice belted out the lyric. It was clear how well he related to them. Ellery had always felt as if there was little he could do for the world, always picked on for being so small, always mocked for being so nerdy, but he tried to never let it get him down. He had to hold on to the thought that everything would be alright, that things would get better, and they did. Now, he had the best job ever doing what he loved, a child who adored him, a detective that he lov-

When the last note was sung out and the last key was played, he stopping pressing his fingers down on the piano, keeping his fingers there. With a sigh, he turned his eyes to Fredrich, emerald pools wide and full of hope. "Well? What do you think, Fredrich?" he asked, voice soft from his fear of rejection.
