Scree felt her heart was till heavy, most certainly weighing more than the bag in her arms. How was that possible?
Was her heart larger?
Or just the burden of such a package weighed her down more?
Without much thought she placed the heart on the White Pedestal, her current anguish taking over any and all reason.
yeah, she felt better acknowledging it.
What was she doing again?

Ironshare kept his bag.
He didn't trust the goddesses. He wanted to hold on to the heart, to the memories, but as he turned from the shrine, he lost his grip on them anyway. He tried to remember at least a few things, a kiss, the feeling of defeat, the horse... one thing, he wanted to remember-
It was all gone.

Etyam returned perplexed, but loyal. Each plaque called to a part of him, but only one could call to him as a whole. Only one part of him rejected it entirely, yearning for a world that was bright and colorful, where his heart was blue and not red, and his body white and not grey. Impossible things that made his head hurt and very nearly had him questioning the divine will of the goddesses.
Etyam threw the wet, squishy bag onto the black pedestal and watched it sink into the stone. The memories faded away like a bad dream.
He felt much better after.

Even with the memories, Zealot knew he would fight on to become a goddess. He didn't know why, but for some reason the Black pedestal called to him, and so he sacrificed his bag to it.
He felt the memories - if they were even there before - leave his mind without any pain. Shaking his head, he headed out - his choice made.

Carmus was tired. He didn't like the feeling. He didn't like the memories he carried. What they were, what they implied.
He didn't like what they made him feel. They did not belong with him. The heart was for the goddess but also for himself. A sacrifice he could make- they were things that had no place with him, for him. The past was behind him, he'd made his choices, the memories- they had made their choices.
You had to live with choices you made.
It seemed fitting he decided, that the heart he had gained be offered to anguish. White, the void of color, he could find peace in that?
As the heart and memories faded, Carmus took a deep breath.
He'd made a choice, and now this too, would be put behind him.

Viola'i was tired, but she felt herself still in high spirits. She had gotten the heart just as requested even with the perils that were had to get it. It had started out simply but of course things couldn't be so. But she had prevailed along with a promise. Her friend's heart would be to good use.
The small girl was ready to hand it to the statue when she entered but she found matters different. Whom she had talked to was gone, replaced by another and four empty areas. Each plaque, upon ready, offered something differently but there seemed to be only one for her.
Viola'i placed the bag upon the Green Pedestal. She liked things very much after all, as did the owner of this heart and had been kind enough to hand it over for her to use.
But those memories soon vanished, and the friend was lost along with what she had fought for. The girl blinked, not liking this feeling. Something had been taken. She didn't like that. Would something be gained at least?
She turned to go to the Shrine, hoping.

Stew reentered the shrine, skimmed the plaque, and threw his bag on the ground, grinding her heart into the dirt with his heel until it was sludge. He would never put her on a pedestal again.

Tired and worn, he moved to the pedestal to see the goddess not there to welcome him. There was just a statue, but it read what he had to do. Turning, he walked down the rows, reading each before stepping back.
The memory of his sister was still twisting in his mind. She hated him for taking his heart. Hated him for being alive maybe? Hated him for leaving her and hurting her. Even in the memory, she thought she ruined her life. She resented him.
He moved to to the plaques, and set the heart down on the black pedestal. Her heart resented him, and he felt that's where it belonged.
Just as he released, he felt strange, and suddenly something slipping away. Something important, but...that must have been that thing he was looking for, right? He was here....doing something?
His eyes looked over to the bag on the rock, and he felt a sense of confusion, not knowing how he got the bag, but then remembered he had been doing a task. Seeming to be done, he headed off to the Shrine.
His steps faltered as Sonja almost crawled back inside, so exhausted from his ordeal. His new memories swam around in his mind, making him shudder. Forcing himself focus on hat was happening now, he could see that the goddesses were gone, leaving only a statue and a few pillars.
Thinking over his decision, he eventually placed the bag on the gold pedestal, realizing that as he did, the memories he had just remembered had faded from his mind.
With a sigh, he wearily walked towards the shrine.

Panting and shaken, Amir made it back into the Shrine. Shaking her head, she looked at the pedestals and sighed.
No, she couldn't.
Keeping the bag, she walked out into the Shrine proper.
As she went she out - she felt the memories lift from her mind.
Like they were never there at all.

She's shaking as she heads into the Shrine. Her head turned to the statues and notices the the statue is back in the place that it was before. She reads the plaque and stares down at the bag... Slowly she goes over ot the empty statues and reads through the other plaques.
She decides that she will go for the Goddess of Affliction.
She puts down the heart and watches it dissipating-- along with her memories. Her head tilts and she looks confused. She heads out of the door and rubs her stomach. She feels hungry now.

A cynical smile curved her lips as Viae stepped back into the Shrine. The heart felt heavy in her hand. Too heavy. Too vile. It was not the act of ripping it from his chest that sickened her and made her skin crawl. It was him. His presence. The heart in her grasp was a piece of him, keeping him too close.
Each plague was scanned, most sneered towards. One, however, made her laugh. Bitter. Amused. Agreeing. She tossed the bag, careless, disregarding, onto the black pedestal. Oh, she had resentment. Oodles of it. More than should be possible for her body to hold. Blessedly--perhaps that was the real blessing here--she felt that resentment begin to fade. The memories lifted, drifted and shattered until none existed.
Lighter, smiling, Viae left the Shrine. She sighed with relief, but could not recall the source.
Neios was tossing the beating heart in his hand, catching it as easily as he threw it. There was no goddess. Why did that not surprise him? Instead, he decided to investigate the plaques. Sitting on the side for a moment, he covered his mouth to contemplate. In the end, he laid the heart on the black pedestal. "Have it." His heart wouldn't be enough to satisfy Neios. Neios needed their entirety. It didn't matter to him whether he lost his memories again or not. He knew that he would eventually be compelled to hate them until the end of eternity.
As the heart and memories faded, Sin found himself staring at the empty spot. Feeling lighthearted, "I'll see ya later." He waved over his shoulder to the plaques.

The Goddess was gone. This was just as well, Shaw reasoned distantly. His eyes were impossibly wide, and tears slowly trailed down his cheeks.
He could use the solitude.
He approached the lone statue, reading its inscription absently. So this was the gift, then. Godhood. This is what they'd all been struggling, fighting, sacrificing for. He didn't have to go far. The first pedestal he came across held the words now etched across his soul.
He mutely laid his offering on the white plaque, and took a long, deep breath as the memories slowly faded. Shaw put a hand to his cheek, and took it away, confused by the wetness there.
Despair. He could feel it, the sinking emotion eating away at him, although he was no longer sure why.

Solliette did not remember how she returned to the shrine. Somehow, she was not surprised to see that the goddess was no longer waiting for her. You made me kill her, she wanted to scream. Twice -- I killed her -- I was supposed to protect her, and you... made me...
But the words did not come out. For once in her brief existence, Solliette remained silent. She circled the pedestals, reading each of their inscriptions in turn. Silent. Angry.
She dropped the heart like a weight upon the black pedestal. It seemed the most appropriate. She didn't dare look at the gold one on her way out, afraid she would remember Alicia's eyes before the gray overtook her.
But, as soon as the heart hit the stone, she couldn't remember Alicia's eyes, not their color, nor their shape, and she was only vaguely aware of where she had heard the name before.
