"Yes, he's gone. Gone off and left for the circus like so many of our other friends!"
He munched on a potato chip, "Thank you." he said politely, but even him appetite had depressed. Something was very wrong! He knew it, but could not explain it!
"I understand trends and fads quite well... But not this. This is just not stellar! There's something way out of orbit here!"
He nodded to Drake, leaning in with intent.
"tell me what did Hellene find!"

Draconia described everything to Roswell, the story of Hellene and Vinnie sneaking into the Cirque, Vinnie's about-face joining and how Hellene had run away with the Ward that was keeping people out of the circus. She finished it all up reaching into her bag to pull out the Ward to show Roswell, when she realized-
"Oh! Drat. I forgot, Wyvernia has it." Draconia made a face. She was very cross with her sister right now and didn't want to face her to ask for it back. She gave a sigh and closed her bag back up. "Well, I can't show it to you, but you understand, right?"
Draconia sat back, looking glum and defeated.
"Whatever shall we do? Hellene didn't have any luck actually going to the circus, none of the adult monsters think it's a big deal, but my ruby heart tells me it's wrong, wrong, wrong!"

"This story sounds outs this world. But yes. I feel the same. I might not know the others that well. But I know Dashner."
He nodded, feeling Drake's frustration. Then it hit him like a ton of books!
"Wait. Didn't you say the word was for keeping people out? Well if it's not there anymore... What to stop an unseen student form going in? I know Vanissha want's Meme back to train her miniature wolf-puppy. If we make it about her, she may be brave anough to go in and tell us what going on."
*BEE-EEP!*
"MAX says he and Atomica could monitor her from a far. So we could see what's happening."

"Send in a...a spy?" Draconia raised an eyebrow. It seemed so...daring! Like something straight from a Flames Bond movie. She mulled it over. "You have a point. And Vanissha probably IS the best choice, if we can get her to stay focused, that is."
She pulled out her iCoffin and started texting Hellene.
"I must let Hellene know our plan. She's been on the circus grounds before, maybe she can advise us on how to start! Goodness, this is so cloak and gagger!"
To: Hel Roswell Grey and I have an idea, send Vnssha 2 infiltrate. Meet us @ LG!!!! PS TELL NO ONE SUPER SECRET

Roswell leaned back in the chair, feeling just a little better! This would work! It ad to! Yes! What could possibly go wrong?
His apatite was coming back too, and so he started eating more chips.
"These are really good. Can't wait for our friends to return! then we'll have a feast of some kind. With lost of food!"
He could picture all their friends gathered around a lot of food on a table thankful for everything they had... That should be a howliday of some kind...

Hellene peered around the side door of the looking glassing, entering slowly and raising a talon to keep the bell from ringing. She crept through the aisles, listening for Draconia's voice, pausing to make sure she hadn't been followed.
She heard talking in the comic book nook and readied her anti-circus-gun.
As Roswell backed up with an empty snack tray, Hellene put a hand on his shoulder and poked the gun into his back.
"QUICK. How do you feel about clowns! Don't think, just answer!"

"AH!" In surprise he threw the tray up in the air putting his hands up!
"They're Ok I guess! Only clown I've ever met was Meme! I don't know about the rest!"
He said the words as fast as he could, it came out jumbled and a little too fast. It also had a sing-song-y-ness about it. He tired to turn to see who was behind him. Still a little worried... out of the corner of his eye he could see a wing. It wasn't Dashner's.
"H-Hellene?"

Hellene eyed him suspiciously, but admitting to knowing a clown wasn't a ringing endorsement of the circus and he wasn't smiling vacantly. In fact, his knees were wobbling a little bit.
"Ok, that's good enough."
Hellene put down the BooSoaker5000 squirt gun filled with brown paint. It was the least cheerful, most uncircusy color she could think of.
"I had to make sure you weren't one of them. Everywhere I turn there's another one. Kids are joining the circus by the cryptful. It's like there's some kind of spell on them."
She set the gun down next to a chair and sank down into the cushions, exhausted.
"I think the hag in the photos is the one taking monsters. She might have one heck of a sales pitch but Char-lene at the Coffin Bean said she was posing as a truant officer and she took away Dashner. I'll bet he's in the circus too now!"

"He IS." Draconia held up her iCoffin so Hellene could see the text. "He joined up this afternoon before school ended. He and Marceline had a fight in the hallways of the Coffin Corridor that made the front page of the Ghostly Gossip!"
Draconia gave Hellene a cup of tea, because covert spy talk always was best over a hot cuppa. The three of them sat back down in the Comic Corner and put their heads together.
"Grey has a brilliant plan to infiltrate the Circus with Vanissha as our double agent. Grey, did you text her? We need to get moving as soon as possible!"

He really didn't like texting, so instead he said.
"She got the message ten of your Earth minutes ago. She should be here soon."
He continued to much on potato chips, now that it was safe to eat them.

Hellene curled up in her chair, wrapping her hands around the teacup.
"We need to figure out how they decided to join the cirus," she began, "Vanissha needs to question them! They can't just all up and decide to join without cause!"
Hellene checked the photos once again but didn't see anything particularly "hey join the circus!" about them. It was all crates of bars or chalk or turnips, nothing exciting about turnips. There weren't any other wards, brainwashing or otherwise. The circus didn't even look like it had bathrooms and who would ever agree to that?
"If we don't know how they get monsters to join, we'll never know how to keep ourselves from doing it too. We have to try...to try some kind of...of anti-circus charm!"
Hellene pulled a "YOU can stop Peer Pressure!" pamphlet out of her coat pocket.

"So, like, do you even have a movie section or what? Because this place looks bigger then the catacombs." Vanissha walked to the backroom where everyone was sitting.
"I'm looking for movies from the 80's and back. You know like some of the Tumbstone Classic Movies. I've been looking for a while and can't find any. Also..."
She puts a hand to her mouth to whispered to Draconia.
"I'm pretty sure you're assistant is a sleep... Just saying."
"Vanissha didn't you get my message? We need you to be a spy at the circus." Roswell said wondering if she payed attention at all to his not-a-text message.
"Of course, ET, but if I'm going to be a spy I need to prepare for my role, DUH!" She waved him away like he was an annoying little brother, then smiles at Draconia, sweetly.
"So where are those spy movies?" biggrin

"We don't sell movies, I'm afraid." Draconia replied. "Think of this like...oh! I know! Just like in Drama Class when Mr. Where has us do improvisation. You know, when he has us draw scenes out of a hat and act them out. This is just like that, except instead of a hat, it's a dire situation that requires you to sneak into a circus and find out what is causing all of our friends to go circus-crazy."
Draconia paused. Then, she offered Vanissha a cup of tea. Surely that would help to stimulate her spying instincts.

"Brilliant!" She took the tea form her, and sat on one of the comfy chairs cross legged.
"Ohh Thanks. I love tea. Every actress should know how to improvise! One day I'm going to be a famous actress, just like my mom! This? This'll be easy."
She could picture it all in her head! She'd just rescued everyone from the so not creepy cool Circus Sinistare with nothing but a spy mirror and spy powder-puff! She was a hero! Even more popular then Catty Noir and Cleo de Nile combined! All gave her attention and praise then even held a school dance in her honor!
"Mmm, puurfect." She sighed lost in her day dream, Then quickly shaking the cob-webs from her head she cleared her throat lightly.
"I mean. I will be as soon as we get started! When can we go in? Also I'll need a pair of sunglasses!"

"Sunglasses?" Draconia started to argue. Why would she need sunglasses? She could be invisible, which is what they needed for a spy mission. Draconia looked at Hellene, who shook her head. Draconia agreed. No more time could be wasted.
"Here, take my Jackie-O-Lantern were-cat-eye sunglasses." Draconia reached into her bag and pulled out her vintage shades with the adorable green emeralds studding the corners. "But I want them back when you're done!"
Thusly prepared, Vanissha was ready to head over to the circus. Draconia turned to Roswell.
"Okay, it looks like she's ready. And you're sure MAX will track her?"
