Candace needed to invest in a sleeveless coat or something. And goggles. She couldn't even put on her gloves because it was too hot. Ugh. She hated this place, its smell, the memories tied to it, everything. There was nothing good to be said of the Sahara. And it made her weapon incredibly hard to use.
Oh look, Death pony. Candace was well aware Invictus wasn't 'death' but he would always be that to her, bigass fire-breathing Death Pony. Her eyes narrowed as one by one more horsemen showed up. Heirs. Damnit. Why now? Death pony was hers though, they were all terrible but...him. She could not just ignore him as much as she would like to. Atropos was immediately summoned, and Candace moved to r--

Invictus took a deep breath, as though he could smell something on the wind as the hammer came around to strike him again. He was like a cat, playing with a mouse - not really doing it for fun, but at the same time there was a spark of something that at least made it entertaining to not just go all out in one fell swoop, the Horseman careful in sending another one of his sand-bullets firing at Jordan.
Not that the wind helped his aim much, but hey. He'd kill them all in time.HP: 122/150 Target: Jordan Damage: 5 FEAR: ALL OF THEM Eight Invi did not notice you, Candace. You're safe for now O_O

Running in sand was hard. Really hard. Candace wasn't used to extreme terrains, she hated them, they made it hard on her to fight...she needed more practice. Goddamnit. God. ********. Son of...b***h! She hissed under her breath whenever she nearly slipped in the sand, finally summoning Atropos again when she was close enough. She slipped again but this time used it to her advantage, kicking the back of one of Invictus' knees before she went down. "Need some help?" She called out to Jordan as she hurried to get back up, kicking sand off her boots. HP: 60/60 Target: Invictus Damage done: 3 Charge: 1/3; 0/3 spent Items: Runic Bandage (x1) Turn 2/3

The sand projectiles stung, but they didn't force Jordan to back off. The horseman's almost-lazy attitude made him angrier, the sense that he was being toyed with irritating him like sand against raw skin. Ferros hissed in his mind, agitated by the partial charge but still sensitive to his human's state of mind. Calm.Jordan shook his head and swung again, too soon, only clipping the horseman. He couldn't calm down; the lurking edge of panic was waiting just outside his control, ready to rise in a nightmare wave and overwhelm him if he gave himself room for anything but the anger. He barely noticed Candace, though he moved aside, aware of a presence that he shouldn't hit. HP: 44/60 Target: Invictus Dmg: 4 Charge: 3/3

Harrison's eyes widened behind his scarf at the long trail of fire. The heat spike was immediate, and B0nez was telling him to Dodgeroll.
The flames ate up a chunk of his shield, and in the Sahara, it was heat on top of heat.
"We oughta bring suntan lotion next time," Harrison told Rep. He struck out with his sword this time, wanting to buy more distance and with more bite than the heel of the sword offered. He looked over uncertainly at the runes, and more quietly asked,
"...Should we, uh, I mean...research...?"
The word research was in a very it's your life decisions not mine tone.

Melvin was trying to avoid the other hunters who had stepped in to attack the horsemen who, from what he could tell, either pissed off a lot of people or was very important to demand this sort of attention. With everyone else distracted, he hoped that if he missed again, it would go unnoticed.
"Watch it." He warned before firing and this time actually hit.
He breathed out. Good job! You actually managed to hit something. Keep that up and you might actually win a fight.
You inspire me so much, you know that? He responded in a dry, sarcastic tone that he reserved for his weapon.

The runes began to hum a little louder as several events happened almost simultaneously, too fast for anyone to process at once-
- There was Mark, who turned to look at Deryk. He snorted. "As if a padawan like you could figure this out, my motives are complex, insanely like, complex." He crossed the red wire with the yellow one as he clamped the wire ends to the base of the structure, unaware that Shik had cut at the wires, forming loud, erratic sparks-
- That raced up the monument as it began to shake unsteadily, cracks forming at its triangular tip. The shadow it cast began to distort, take on a strange, almost organic form, tendrils shooting out from all corners-
- To merge with the diameter of red bone-like spikes around around the pedestal. Each of them crackled, and then writhed, growing limbs, arms, wings, collapsing into the sand with a loud thud, statue-like tails flickering out to taste the non-existent wind. They moved slowly, steadily, spanning twenty feet each as they lashed out arbitrarily at horsemen and Hunter, sending several reeling.
Being closest to the runes Ofelia, Jake, and Senga were one of the first few assaulted, the creatures snapped their jaws at them, spines shooting out large sand needles all directions. One directly impaled Ofelia in one foot, the other struck Jake along his side, the third barely grazing Lucky, horrible and terrifying to look at as the spine protruded directly out of one side of his ribcage. Blood poured freely along the pedestal, even his Fear Shield did nothing to buffer the damage. Senga was lucky, as the spine struck down one wing, rendering only his ability of flight.
Several other Hunters, even Horsemen could only stare in horror as the strange half-serpent half sand dragon creatures continued closing in relentlessly, regenerating spines barraging all directions in attempts to impale several more targets.
Bix would find however, the spine he struck had instead, crumbled, lifeless. It seemed his efforts had destroyed it before it was created.
The unluckiest however, were both Stormy and Mimsy. Having not destroyed the pillar, as Mimsy attempted to pry it open, it came to life, the tip of the spine splitting into a large jaw that opened and-
- Blood splattered everywhere as it clamped down, chewed several times, and finally spat out a lifeless body on the ground. The Life Hunter at least had a quick, mostly painless death.
Stormy would simply be caught in the line of fire, several spines shooting down, catching her perhaps as she stared up in shock at the projectiles moving towards her
- As her body lurched once, twice, a third and forth time as several spines struck her in unison-
- And she hit the ground, lifeless, facing upwards. Her vacant eyes were still open in shock.
The shift in Fear, and the growing feeling of Insanity would spark a strange bloodlust in the remaining Horsemen, even despite the monoliths attacking them and their own pain. They could feel it, a shadow was rising. Their colour slowly began to fade away, skin peeling off bits and pieces to reveal an entirely grey visage, and then, began to crackle further, bits and pieces of black streaming freely from their arms, legs, sides, their faces. Something was calling them. Any semblance of Sanity had pretty much left them.
They would fight and they would go Home. OOC A NEW ROUND HAS STARTED. ALL TURNS ARE REFRESHED - If you have DIED, and note your character's name up there, you may post a DEATH REACTION solo before death. If is exactly as you see it: your character is dead. They are human, what did you expect?ALL HORSEMEN:- Regardless of if you were Insanity Infected or not, you are now in BESERKER INSANITY STATUS. All you feel is the urge to consume and destroy everything in front of you, with an insatiable bloodlust. You now have the ability to surpass a Hunter's Fear shield. This means, once this round you may quote a target and roll 1d6. If you roll a 1 o r 6 you manage to strike a fatal blow to your target. RP it however you please as you pierce their Fear Shield and basically well - - All Humans will eventually die, it is a great honour for them to be sacrificed for a greater Fear. - Normal battle rounds can continue on as normal as well (same as last time, so 3 attacks per post, wait for your opponent to reply or wait 6 hours before attacking again). QUOTE YOUR TARGETS. If a fatal strike, please quote your target and them rp out their killing blow as you wish. - You may still do an action post if you so wish, which is in bold red. You may have three action posts (basically posting in bold red a phrase saying 'Hey Zoo notice me!' ) this round. ALL HUNTERS:- The chaos has affected you the most. Mark is severely injured, Sam is trying to construct a portal, but there is too much chaos going on. Communications on the headset are down. The structure is going crazy, and amongst the strange creatures attacking you are the horsemen going beserk with Insanity. Despair seems overwhelming. Several of your comrades have fallen, and others are severely injured. You will have to choose carefully your action posts for this round. - You may still do an action post if you so wish, which is in bold red. You may have three action posts (basically posting in bold red a phrase saying 'Hey Zoo notice me!' ) this round. [A.V.] Jake is SEVERELY injured and needs medical attention. He is going to shock and can only be saved if AT LEAST FIVE Moon OR Life Hunters quote him and roll a 1d10. This represents their attempts to Heal them with the Runic equipment (bandages) they are given as well as stop his wound. - IF you roll a 1- 3 you fail to help him - If you roll a 4- 6 you lessen the bleeding - If you roll a 7- 8 you manage help secure the wound - If you roll a 9 -10 or less you manage to help remove the spine from his side. He is bleeding internally and will require heavy medical assistance immediately, as soon as a portal can be constructed. nothing yet Mimsy is deceased. Feel free to write a death solo in her time of death/ her reactions leading up to her death if you so wish though she is ICly dead at this point. Ol-j-man Stormy is deceased. "AH MARK!"
Deryk quickly could see that it wasn't just Mark in trouble now. But they were all pretty screwed at the moment. His eyes widened as he saw two hunters go down. There was a great deal of blood. There shouldn't be that much blood. Not if they were still alive.
"Thiscan'tbehappening."
With Mark injured, he attempted to fix and rewire his work.

He'd always been cracking a little bit, but the flaking pieces of skin that broke off of his skin as he was attacked as though he was a fire spewing embers exposed more and more eerie grey through the flesh like color, as though he was a statue that had been painted and was now losing the newness it had once possessed.
It was like he had two faces, the flaking off skin unexpressive, yet the grey visage underneath manic, wild, and more expressive than the Horseman had ever been seen, even when in a rage.
"One down." only the mouth of the grey portion of his face actually moved as he reached out towards the first offender towards His Imperial Majesty. The gravity around his hand, as he began to create a field of heavy air around him. Dense. Crushing.
Just as his father would have done. Even the sand beneath Invictus' feet began to solidify into hard stone underneath the Heir's wrath, bringing everything down to his feet.HP: 109/150 Target: Jordan Damage: FATAL BLOW FEAR: ALL OF THEM

Yeah.
Maybe it was for the best they hadn't been researching.
Harrison saw some of it out of the corner of his eye, the spikes, the creatures, the blood, and the Horsemen all went kinda...wrong.
B0nez was hissing with electric power.
Pink raced violently up and down the blades, and Tracey was similarly lit up.
He pointed the tip of the blade at Rep and pulled the trigger. There was still some leftover. He used it on himself. As he did, he felt something seize him. Something he couldn't place. Like something was deeply, darkly wrong, and he almost- nerves, he thought, nerves about the bugs, don't think about bugs focus-
Harrison and Rep were behind a violent pink bubble of electricity. (Barrier)

He'd disentangled himself from Robert after a time, bruised and battered a little but still in one piece. He moved once again toward the center of the chaos, to where the few hunters he knew well enough had gone in search of - answers? Alternatives? But he only made it halfway there. One moment the arena had come alive, and the next a spine was whizzing past his head, slicing a neat line into his hood on its way. The sight of the stone creatures hadn't quite processed in his mind, not in this fraction of a second. He was still moving forward, the inertia impossible to reverse. The hunter in front of him began to collapse, and he reached out to half-steady the both of them as they crashed to the ground. That was when Lucky noticed the spine that was lodged deep in the hunter's ribcage, and the blood that was pouring freely from the edges around it. The life trainee got as far as laying Jake down on the ground, injury upward, not daring to move him anywhere else and risk some kind of horrible hemorrhaging if he moved the spine. He made one attempt to stifle the blood loss, but it merely flowed between his fingers, and soaked the makeshift cloth tourniquet through in an instant, covering both of them in more red. He withdrew, fidgeting, caught in a train wreck of being unable to look away and unable to do anything. "I-I can't-" So he made the mistake of looking away for a moment for help. He had been spared the circumstances of Mimsy and Stormy's deaths, but not the sight of their lifeless bodies bleeding crimson into the sand. HP: 35/40 STABILIZING JAKE: didn't do anything

As Rep was released from the horsewoman's grip, Tracey didn't subside even a fraction, the charge had made him wild and in turn, all Rep could think about was the impending assault. He was blind to all the world around him, blind even to the pain as the horsewoman's fire rent a swathe from his shield.
Al would be there because if he was not, there would be hell to pay. "Be careful." he snarled to the Death hunter. Don't die. "Don't draw their ******** attention."
There was only one thing that could pull Rep to the surface, to any semblance of coherence and that was Harrison. He glanced around at him about to say he didn't do any ******** researching, he was Life but fighting was all he knew.
But even as he opened his mouth to speak, before he could say a single word, the world erupted around them, everything went to s**t in an absolute split second, tendrils and wings spread everywhere, massacring and mutilating hunters all around them. He could hardly take it all in.
<William.> But he felt it too, suddenly everything was wrong. Something had changed in the balance of power.
But he wouldn't die here. He wouldn't ******** die, not on some routine mission to the ******** hell on earth that was the sahara, he refused to die here in this arsehole of the world that had already threatened to claim his life so many times. Devoid of humanity, devoid of anything of worth, it was like the horsemen had already stripped it bare of everything that mattered.
Everything that mattered.
Tracey was still shrieking but the tone was different, he'd spotted something through Rep's eyes that the redhead had not, a familiar flicker of flame and hammer, it soothed the rage, the manic fury that all but ran in both of their thoughts.
But only for a moment.
It was that one, the guy in the ******** dress. Why was Jordan here? Why had he come out here? Why hadn't they seen him? There was no time to think, no time to ******** act.
The attack landed with a crash of gravity.
Tracey stopped screaming. Everything stopped.
The barrier went up and as soon as it did he was running, knew Harrison would be right there beside him, there wasn't time, there wasn't ******** time. He was yelling but it wasn't words, simply raw fury leant voice.
There was no joy in the swing, simply action, he leapt up high into the air, silent, intent and absolutely vicious, bringing Tracey down with every single bit of strength he had in him onto the Conquest heir. Man and fallen angel had no space between them, nothing at all, all that mattered was to cut him down, to end this.
He refused to believe his eyes, he hadn't saw what he thought. He couldn't ******** have.

Sand and runes brought back bad memories, and some of those memories were just plain raw as of late. Sherry was still doing her best to squash them down and deal with the crap before her eyes. Today, here and now.... Was really not a good time or place to be a hunter as things went to total and utter crap. She saw light and runes, and was pretty sure things more or less exploded. The great bony spikes moved and changed and Sherry's panic began to ease. She didn't have time to think about the million things she'd been thinking about. She had things to do. Sherry moved, doing what she could to avoid the deadly parts of the chaos and looking for coats, hunters. She could help, as was her job. She could help and-- Her stomach seemed to drop as her eyes found Jake. She'd been avoiding him, but was constantly looking for him. Someone else was with him, helping him down, but Sherry was focused on the spine and the blood. Thinking was done. A moment later her hands were covered in his blood, bandages doing little to help. She didn't know what to do about the spine. But she could try to help. She would try. Sherry pushed the bandages against the wound, doing what she could to stifle the bleeding. "Jake, you stupid a**." She was aware of others running around, but her focus was on the stupid, bloody wound. HP: 50/50 Action: Helping Jake.

Al remained hot on Rep's heels, obeying him to the best of his abilities. ... it became a lot harder as whatever the hell it was suddenly came to fruition, death... blood... chaos... people laid dead and dying left and right. Rep was moving faster. Al struggled to keep up. Seriously, wait up. ... Rep?... Then suddenly he stopped. What was... Al stopped too. But... he only just... ********... <******** defending. It might not have made much difference, but it made all the difference in the world to Al as he swung out at the horseman presumably responsible with Nuru. Rep would not be attacking if they weren't. At this point the horsewoman he had been fighting was long forgotten and instead his attention was on the injured. Some were already dead, but among those who have been hit, one was still alive. But barely.
However, in spite of his efforts to help the other trainee, the blood only continued to seep through the bandages and his fingers that pressed them down in place. On top of that, Mark was in need of help too.
