Harley finished tucking the last few strands of blonde hair into her black and red mask, then looked up to see where they were at.

Gossamer thumped against the trunk again as Joker hit the breaks. She'd braced herself enough that she didn't injure herself again, but it was still enough to throw her. She was also aware that she was thrown by breaking and not turning this time.

Quickly, she turned her body around. It wouldn't be as stealthy as she normally would have, being in a trunk. But she was having an extremely difficult time getting any magic energy flowing to use. So... she was going to have to try to do this the old fashioned way.

She reached her arm down towards her leg. Thankfully, Joker hadn't taken her weapons off of her. Her fingers wrapped around her gun and pulled it out. The other hand moved around the handle of her dagger and pulled it out as well. She turned and positioned herself so that her legs were curled towards the door, ready to kick if and when she needed. It also gave her a good view to shoot whatever got in her way.

She had no idea what to expect... but she did know that she was cold clocked and tossed into a trunk. There was still a little girl unaccounted for.

The building, still bearing the sign "Mr. Zatarro's Magic Boutique" (clearly trying to create a confusion by using a name similar to Zatanna), was one good storm away from totally collapsing. There were holes in the walls, and all the windows were broken. The door was lying on the ground. The paint had completely eroded off over time, the elements working their will over it.

The clown turned off the vehicle, and heard movement from the trunk. He hopped out again, and said to Harley, "If you've got a gun, this would be the perfect time to draw it." He followed his own advice, and drew the same one he'd whipped Gossamer with before.

Harley looked at the building for a moment, and pursed her lip in thought. This wasn't the sort of building the Joker usually took over. Usually it had a more... fun theme to it if he took over something other than a plain old building. First magic shop she'd ever seen him get.

She heard the movement too and turned to look at the trunk. Frowning lightly, she hopped out of the car and began stripping out of her outter outfit. She pulled a revolver from the pocket of her jacket before tossing that into the car. Her skintight red and black harlequin costume now fully visible. She readied her gun, then carefully moved towards the trunk. Keeping herself out of view of the woman once the trunk was open.

Gossamer meanwhile had positioned herself to kick or shoot whatever opened the trunk. If needed... she was going to find out what happened to Rosie. She could take a pretty good guess what happened to her. Last she knew Rosie was still in her arms. Which... she clearly wasn't now.

At that particular moment, a text message with a picture attached beeped from Harley's cellphone. Whenever Harley would check her phone, she'd see that the message was from Yuriko. Whenever the message would be retrieved, this is what was seen:

"Hey Harleysama,

I'm alright; I've have a ... long night. I swear, I seriously need a vacation. I actually had to work with such incompetent help, they couldn't stop a rabid rabbit. Anyway, had to defend the Kingpin's ivory tower from a motley gang of vigilantes -- including one of the senor 'bats', Batwoman. She was a very tough fighter, but I prevailed. While I am alright, I'm just very tired. Anyway, here are a couple of pics for you.

Ever yours,

Yuriko."

The two pics at the end of the message shows battered and bloodied Batwoman on the floor of the parking garage. Harley could easily see long claw marks that had cut through the dark vigilante's armor. This was originally the pic as proof for Kingpin.

The second pic was obviously for Harley. This one was a selfie of Yuriko looking in a mirror holding up Batwoman's cape, cowl and utility belt in one hand. While making a victory sign with her other hand, and somehow balancing her phone to take a picture.

Harley moved towards the trunk of the car as Joker did, but jumped as something began buzzing in her... erm... the pocket of her costume. She would have let the phone go, but it buzzed three times. Which puzzled her because no one sent her a text message that was that long. Had to be an emergency of some sort. Only one that would have her number would be her new girl or the Quinetts.

She flashed Joker a quick apologetic look, then slid her free hand down her costume to pull out her phone. Shouldn't take too long. Just look over it real quick and see if she needed to hurry this up or if it could wait until later.

Alright, it was from Yuriko. Long night, yadda yadda yadda.... Nails certainly had her own way of speaking. Hm... was nails a good nickname? Deathy? DS? Think Nails was a little better. Didn't sound like it was anything big though. Just checking in and.... wait.... Batwoman? She meant BatGIRL, right?

Harley frowned and quickly opened up the pictures. Her eyes widened briefly at the sight of the Fem-bats lying on the ground, and she quickly hit her reply button to get the pictures off her screen.

Oh no. No, no, no. Not what she needed right now. She didn't know how Joker would respond to having a Fem-Bats running around, or about someone else having caught one. Honestly it was bad enough that his attention had been completely focused on a child. She wasn't about to see what he'd do with another addition to the bat family running around. Plus this was from the woman she was replacing HIM with. That was going to be a fun conversation, but she didn't want it brought up now.

But... she needed to say something back to her or stuff the phone back into her pocket. She could say she was in the middle of something, but didn't want Nails to try and cell-phone-port down here to help out. Crap. Crap, crap, crap.

She quickly tucked her gun under her arm, and let her fingers speed across the sliding keyboard of her cell phone. These things were a life saver. So much quicker to type something out without having to hit a button three times just to get the right letter. A few seconds after, she tapped one last button, slid the phone back together, then slid the phone back into her costume.

She looked back up at Joker and nodded, pulling her gun back into place.

Lady Deathstrike taking a selfie is a pretty funny image in my head.

The Joker watched Harley pull out her phone, and fought hard to not explode at her over it; didn't she get the hint earlier that this woman was a damn WITCH?! He called her that TWICE! He took a deep breath, and said to Harley, "Focus, or she might magic us to straight to Kingdom Come. Literally. She might magic us into nonexistence." There, that should be blunt enough to get the message across. Of course, if she hadn't understood before, now Harley might get why he decided o give Gossamer a go as his leading lady: Harley was sweet, bubbly, fun, and damn sexy, but a magic user she was not.

He aimed the pistol at the trunk, and yelled, "Oh, Gossy! I highly recommend that you cooperate. It would be a shame if I had to kill you JUST BEFORE I made you explain to Rosie why you abandoned us! A terrible shame, but one I'd be able to live with!" He smiled to himself, all the while hoping that he was wrong, that Gossamer wouldn't settle down. If she did... The clown blinked, and got the thought out of his mind; he didn't want to go there unless he had to.

// Glad I'm not the only one who got a little smirk out of that. //

Gossamer's eyes darted towards the sound of the voice. She moved her gun to aim it at where one would normally be standing once they opened a trunk. It was likely a common sense bet that Joker would have a gun trained on her the moment he opened the door. Needed to make sure she had a good shot just in case he shot first.

Her expression turned to very brief anger. Abandoned them? Well, suppose that IS what it looked like she did. She'd been summoned so quickly from Lex Corp that she didn't have time to do anything about it but be teleported away. Then she let that damn magic cat talk her into going into the Batcave. Then she lost her damn temper. Then that damn magician. Then that damn anti-magic prison cell. Then.... then she couldn't find anyone. She tried. She made herself sick worrying about the Rosie that Joker had kidnapped off the bus. But she tried...

"That's very reassuring..." she called back. The way he emphasized those two words made it suspiciously clear that he'd be killing her right AFTER he made her explain. Not that she was expecting him to do anything less than kill her... the nice little greeting was answer enough for how this little meeting was going to go.

Still... she'd been looking for Joker ever since she escaped from that JLA space... whatever that was. Even after she found his last hide out that the little Bat crashed, she kept looking around for him to turn up again. With less consern than she had before, of course. Rosie's room and pictures hung all over the place was... evident that she was being well taken care of. That she didn't need rescuing or in danger. That didn't mean that Gossamer hadn't been looking to make some sort of closure at the very least. And if one of them getting killed is what it took... well provided Rosie didn't tell Joker about her restorative immortality spell, she didn't mind if it was her who was killed.

But so help her... if he did anything to hurt Rosie... either of them. There wouldn't be anything left of the man. And if she couldn't do that, then she knew exactly were his little obsession lived and how to get inside that little cave.

"Considering the interesting travel accommodations you've provided, I'll cooperate as much as I can under the circumstances." she added, her gun still trained on the trunk hood.

Harley kept her gaze fixed on the trunk, as well as her gun. She was a little surprised at how... calm the woman sounded. If she was in someone's trunk, she'd be throwing a fit or keeping as quiet as could be so she could bust out. Worried her a little bit if Goss was acting so calm just so he'd open the trunk or... what she was thinking.

The Joker inserted the key, saying, "The accommodations will improve somewhat in a moment." Then, he remembered that he never disarmed her. She probably had a gun trained right where someone opening the trunk would normally be standing, which was right where he was standing. His smile turned into more of a smirk as he decided that if she shot him, oh, well. Hopefully it would be in the shoulder or stomach, so that he'd be able to finish his little endgame before blood loss became an issue. Quickly, he snapped the trunk open, aiming in the center of the trunk, not really knowing where Gossamer was going to be, what with his erratic driving earlier.

And right in the center of the trunk was where Gossamer had positioned herself. Her knees were curled up nearly against her chest; partial protection should someone besides her shoot first, partial assurance that she could easily put her boots into the gut of whoever opened the door. One arm was resting under her; keeping her partially sitting up and balanced. It also looked as though it was gripping the handle of something that was hidden under her. The other hand was aimed in front of her; a black and silver Glock that was chipped and scratched was aimed directly at his chest. She was in a perfect position to knock him back or injure him, and considering her profession and usual nature, she should have put a few holes in him the moment he opened the trunk.

But she didn't. She just kept still, her gun still trained on his chest, and her eyes locked onto his. Her eyes were focused and held a small glint of intent to kill, and there was an eerie sense of calmness in her expression. But she didn't attack him. Maybe it was because she was still reeling from the greeting he had given her, as was evident from the blood trailing down the side of her face. Maybe it was because he had said the "R" word... with how she had treated the other Rosie, it wouldn't be hard to guess she was willing to play nice because of the child.

Or... maybe it was because she had no intention of fighting him unless she absolutely had to. Right now that was the reason she was more interested in. She had spent far too much time on trying to find Joker and Rosie to just kill him and run. That was probably the best option right now, but... she still needed to know what happened to her child. To both of them. And if he had told his Rosie that she had abandoned them, fighting to escape would only make that appear to be true. She didn't want that. And... some strange part of her was holding out hope that Joker would keep his calm so that she didn't have to kill him.

There was a moment where all was still, motionless, as the former lovers aimed at each other. After the longest minute in their lives, the Joker's smile widened slightly. His eyes, though, looked almost... Disappointed. "Well, I didn't know you still cared," the clown said, making light of the situation, as always.

"Call me crazy." Gossamer replied, her forced calmness making it hard to tell if she was serious or simply commenting back. She kept her eyes and gun trained on him, ready to pull the trigger at a seconds notice. She couldn't allow herself to relax just yet, so her posture remained stiff. "I suppose there's quite a bit you still don't know about me."

Now the question was how to get out of the trunk. As much as she didn't want to, she was going to have to back off first in order to actually get up and out. The position she had placed herself in was pretty much only good for lunging out after kicking obstacles out of the way. Joker hadn't given her any reason to start a fight, so she didn't need to kick him out of the way. Something about his expression though... she wasn't sure what, but it seemed as though he may have wanted her to start a fight.

She... could understand that if it was the case. Honestly it was only fun if the hostage had to be led down the hall kicking and screaming.

.... depending on how this little meeting went, she might just let him have that.

"I suppose so," the clown replied, nodding. His eyes, still bearing the disappointed look, switched back and forth between the guns, and he said, "Seeing as apparently neither of us wants to shoot the other for the heck of it, I propose we both stop pretending that we do want to shoot each other, put the guns away, and we all just get on with this."

Gossamer hesitated a moment, then carefully lowered her gun. "Very well." she said.

Once her gun was securely back in place, she let out a long sigh. Her body slowly faded and became misty and hazy. Not fully... she didn't have the energy for her normal misting spell. The mist floated through the air and around Joker, and moved to the side of him. Slowly, Gossamer materialized again.

< insert description of her thinking about Joker and what to do now. Notices the magic shop. Hopes that it's as old as it looks and does not have any old magic relics or anything. Notices Harley, thinks about her. Then notices that the car is empty.>

"So... are we going to have a nice little talk, or do you have a nice little guest room set up for me somewhere?" she asked. It was obvious that she was looking about the car. Given how well she had cared for her Rosie, it was obvious what she was looking for.
PostPosted: Sun Apr 27, 2014 6:48 pm

As Gossamer misted to his side, he twirled his pistol like he was in the wild west and stuck it back in his pocket. He felt a little pain in his hand, and it was only then that he noticed that his hand was still bleeding from when that masked guy that apparently thought he was Green Arrow shot him. He chucked, and waved it at the car briefly. "That replacement didn't come with us, if that's what you're wondering. She was alive, last I saw, though. Probably with that chucklehead that did this to me," he said, holding the hand in a manner that let him look through the hole at her. The detailing bill to get the blood out of the car was going to cost an arm and a leg.

"Still alive last you saw her?" Gossamer asked, turning her attention back towards Joker. Did that mean that he had hurt her? Or just left her alone on the streets of Gotham. Or... was the person who put the nice hole in his hand one of Gotham's less heroic?
