Oh, a brown. Iliyana blinked in surprise - she wasn't sure what she had expected from the regal egg, but it wasn't precisely that. Hm. She wondered who he would Impress to, even as she glanced over at the scurry of healers trying to get to Emora. Biting her lip, Iliyana forced herself to look away from that and back to the dragons. Either the healers would save the newly-Impressed, or they wouldn't. Either way, there was little she could do about it. She had to focus on what was going on with the dragons...

The first blue finally begins to make his way reluctantly back toward the candidates. Apparently whatever his mother has rumbled at him was sufficient to make sure he cooperates and does as he is expected to do. He disdains the female candidates totally and begins to make his way through the males, occasionally casting longing looks over his shoulder toward the direction of the Igen candidates. Or, more likely, toward the heaps of meat sitting very near them.

He accidentally steps on Skelly's foot and in his attempt to undo that his tail lashes and sends a spray of sand all over the place. Again he looks over his shoulder and Serith makes a noise, clearly telling him to keep on with it. In the mean time, his splotchy brown brother is picking his way through the candidates, weaving around their knees with a certainty that might make a person wonder why he doesn't just choose already, since he seems to have a very good idea of what he wants.

The brown gives Cary an affectionate headbutt, sending some good feelings her way but definitely not Impressing, and then he makes his way to Zofer to do the same. Perhaps he has decided that before he can Impress, he has to make sure that nobody is sad...or not. After butting Zofer's hand he stalks purposefully into the candidates toward a very pretty young man whose sister already Impressed.

The Glowering Egg begins to rock more violently.

Zofer

He was loath to let her go to the Healers, especially with the hatchling clinging and hissing so viciously. Would she attack the people who were trying to save her bonded's life? Intervention stepped in in the form of two equally hissy little flits. Zofer shielded himself as Emora's pair attacked her new life mate and the healer's rushed her away.

Zofer's emotions rolled inside of him. He wanted to hate the little green but she had Impressed, wasn't that a good thing? From what it had looked like she hadn't intended to hurt Emora but rather the other green hatchling. It had all happened to fast to really keep straight, not with his anger at Quindrife still boiling inside of him. He looked to where the woman had once stood, irrationally putting the blame entirely on her, only to find her missing. Well good. Maybe she'd been mauled by one of the others and he'd be 'mourning' her death later on.

If she'd got Emora killed he'd kill her himself.

Distractions made for deadly situations. Zofer hadn't seen the last egg to hatch and only discovered the presence of a brown as it butted against his hand and a wash of good will swept through him. Impression? No. The brown left his side just as quickly as it had come and was off towards Dagner.

Zofer turned to look at the clutch and saw the Regal's shell laying empty. So it had held a brown? He'd liked that egg a lot and it's occupant could have been worse. The rage filled one was rocking though, one of two left. Zofer turned to keep an eye on the green hatchling and apprentice healer's still too close to him.

Cai

Cai's lips pursed and her grey eyes glowered as she was both ignored and yelled at by the hatchling she was trying to help. Well if that wasn't gratitude for you. Her freckles stood out against her pink skin as she boldly stepped towards the hatchling as the attacking flits left and thrust a piece of meat right in her face. "You. Eat. Now! We've got yours and you can have her back once we're done with her. In the mean time you're MY problem now." What the healer had wanted her to look for in the green's wings she had no clue. She was studying herbs, not dragons.

So much had happened that it all seemed like a jumbled mess. One of the greens had actually mauled a girl. What was her name..Emora? That sounded right, but shards. It had looked bad. That seemed to sober the red-head up just a bit as she made a mental note not to get in any of the hatchling's way. While she didn't mind scars, she really didn't want to end up maimed in any way.

Chewing her lip nervously, she watched as the healer's attempted to get to the wounded girl along with her new...shards, could the dragons actually do so much damage to their partners? When her attention finally went back to the eggs, there were two blues out on the sands. One of them was the one from earlier and was completely covered in sand. It was almost enough to draw a chuckle from the former harper before she stifled it down quickly. She had to focus.

The next egg to hatch was the one who hadn't even bothered 'presenting' itself at the touching. From the Ovate egg came a blue that seemed to not even want to move. Really? That had to be a very lazy dragon. Tilting her head to the side, she watched as the blue seemed to call his partner out to him instead of the other way around. Who was the lucky candidate? Ah, Quindrife, hm? That would be an interesting pair for sure. A small grin managed it's way onto her lips for the taller girl. Aislyn would have to congratulate her later on.

Out of the Regal egg came a brown that was soon amongst the candidates weaving his way around them. Arching a brow, she watched as he seemed to encourage one girl by headbutting her and then doing the with Zofer before heading towards another male. Was that Impression or was he merely offering more encouragement to others? The first blue, however, still had yet to choose his own partner. Instead he was still glancing towards the meat and sulking around the male candidates. Did some dragons need this much encouragement to find their riders? Or was this one just so distracted by the food he wasn't paying attention? However it turned out to be, it was still pretty amusing to watch.

Hm. The results thusfar had proven strange to the young Starcrafter, and despite the antics of everyone else around her, the dark haired girl's attention was still solely on the hatchlings. No matter HOW long it would take, she would pay attention to them, She would keep her focus on the Dragons til every last babe had Impressed....No other option.

Dagner had finally overcome his shock and indignation at his sister's successes to notice the blood on the sand. He grimaced, and very selfishly wondered if he would suffer the same fate.

Not my pretty face, please, he thought to himself, eyeing the remaining dragonets.

He shouldn't be afraid of the babies, not really afraid. But someone got mauled and all the dragons had impressed away from them. So when the dirty little blue finally left trying to get food and started nosing around the male candidates, Skelly froze. A tense, herdbeast in the lights freeze of OMG something big and predatory is near me! He swallowed, uncomfortable as the blue brushed near and stepped on his foot.

Skelly whined softly, shifting to attempt to ease his foot under the dragon and perhaps made it worse. All he knew was he was suddenly on the ground and there was a blue close enough to bite him and sand was everywhere. He didn't want to get mauled!

Caelan froze and shifted slightly. "Skelly... try slipping off your sandal," he said calmly, ignoring the brown to focus on his brother. He didn't want his sibling getting mauled or to panic and he could see the beginning of full blown fright on his sibling pale face. A widening of gray eyes and slight trembling. "He is not going to hurt you," he soothed, soft. His brother was flighty and could be high strung but still, he was his sibling.

Mari shifted softly, moving close enough till her legs brushed Skelly's back, ready to pull him up and out of the way if things went bad. "Shush," she whispered. "Do as Caelan says and slip it off, I think he just caught in the straps."

The splotchy brown from the Regal egg heads straight towards Dagner ... and then veers off, passing by the female Candidates. He pauses by Mari and looks over his shoulder at Dagner.

Well, Dagner? What do you think of this one?

The Glowering Egg chooses this moment to crack violently, spilling out a furious green dragonet in an explosion of shards. She shakes herself free of the egg and begins to stalk towards the candidates, glaring at each of them in turn with whirling red eyes. Appearing to notice Jadros, the green stomps over to him to examine him, lashing her tail angrily.

Jadros couldn't exactly keep his eyes on the brown when he realized the most feared of the eggs had begun to hatch. The angry little green that fumbled out, while cute in its own way, made the young boy pause a moment. He knew that kind of anger- he had felt it himself once. When his mother had been ill, he had been a little bit of a, well, of a snot. And it had been a miserable time of his life.

He knew the dragonet was only beginning her life, but he imagined rage didn't need any particularly reason to be inside someone, or to be just as unpleasant. He was sad she felt such anger and, whoever she ended up picking, he wanted to help her feel better, even just once in a while.

How did one make dragons happy, though?

He watched as the dragonet approached him, daring not to show her fear- after all, he was the one who believed things happened for a reason, right? No need to fear them, even if it meant potentially losing a limb in the process. He offered her a smile.

But no willing blood offering.

She watched the Brown seem to go straight for some..boy, then over to a female, before turning her attention straight to the Glowering egg. Oh, look at that green. She was an absolutely beautiful specimen! Even so, she felt that the little one's rage was well-deserved. While still an egg, she'd had people poking at her, and prodding her, and now, just out of her egg, everyone was staring. Poor little thing. Those whirling reds caught Seikih's attention, and sent a shudder moving down her spine. Oh...She could almost feel the fury rolling off this pretty green...Hopefully, the little one would impress someone who could HANDLE her, and not some foolish pushover.

Skelly

Skelly slipped out of his sandal and stood slowly, keeping close to Caelan and starting at the blue dragon in front of him. He was pretty, and just staring at his mother. It would be nice if he just chose before the Glowering egg broke and caused all sort of drama and anger and general unpleasantness.

Mari

Was she getting checked over by a dragon? Mari paused, giving the brown a steady look and ended up chortling slightly as he looked right back at the boy. Well, that was interesting. She shook her head, lips curled in amusement at the brown. It wasn't hers but it was a bold saucy little thing, what she expected from the Regal egg.

Angry baby. Mari glanced over the angry green and gave a relieved sound as it stalked off. She really didn't need the Glowering green by her and her brothers at the moment.

Caelan

I think that is the only time I would be pleased to have a dragon pass me by. Caelan watched the green stomp by. The only egg left was the largest and perhaps it would be bronze? Or a other brown? They had a lively showing of greens and blues so far but only one of the larger colors.

Still at large, the blue flutters his wings and makes a mad dash for the food table again, building up as much speed as he can with his thick limbs and trying to streamline himself, although his wings keep coming open and slowing him as he runs. His mother rumbles at him disapprovingly but he risks her ire and ignores her warning, barreling past the people minding the raw meat and scrabbling under the table and out the other side to where the three unofficial candidates from Igen sit.

Ninuta and F'real lean forward once more. A blue may not be quite what they had hoped to Impress, but it looked like they might be getting one of their eggs back in one form or another. Except...why was the silly blue bouncing around beneath the girl they'd brought with them? That wasn't what they'd expected.

Indifferent to the expectations of Igen's weyrleaders, the sandy blue dragonet paws at the stands and says, Rodana, I was trying to get to you the whole time. And maybe also the food a little. But mostly you. But can we please eat now? I'll share!

The green who had emerged from the Glowering Egg gives Jadros one more yellow-eyed look before looking sharply in the direction of the girl who was laughing about Zenith's behavior. She begins to stomp over to her in a very businesslike manner. This could be trouble.

On the sides, an apprentice trained specifically in dragonhealing offers to relieve Cai of her task with the fuming dragonet. The senior healers are occupied with Emora still, but the apprentice who offers to help with Dearth nods toward the sand. "Might be trouble with that green. She looks angry."

Becka held her breath as the girl was dragged off the Sands, she hoped she'd be ok, it would be awful if the girl died and her Green went between Thankfully Cai seemed to be doing a good enough job of distracting her, with the help of what appeared to be the injured girl's flits.

She was vaguely aware of the Brown and then Blue Impressing but her focus was on the Green and her injured bonded but she was careful to await further instruction before doing anything other than stand around. Watching was helpful too though. She was aware that there was another Green on the Sands, one that could probably hurt people but her attention was on the one person already hurt.

Mari paused, noticing the dragon's approach and moved a bit to the side before tossing her head, giving the little green a narrow look. She humphed, lips pressed together and straight back. She was not going to be intimated by a newly hatched dragon.

What was with all these girls Impressing? Out of the five hatchlings to Impress so far, only one of them had been a boy. Really? What was that about? He frowned slightly. He hadn't really known what to expect about his first time on the sands, but that wasn't what he pictured. Maybe during an Interval, but thread was due to return soon! They needed more men to fight it! 'Shouldn't the dragons be able to sense this?' He wondered to himself, as he regarded the latest egg.

The angry green made him nervous, Jed decided. Yes, he wanted to Impress, and with only the one unhatched egg, and a furious hatchling left on the sands, he felt a little disappointment settle in, but it was also mixed in with a fear that he would somehow attract the baby's attention and be the focus of her anger.
