"Well met, Shadows." The Shadowlord held up a clawed hand in greeting. He had retreated to his throne room to meditate. "I would save these trivial matters for another time, but time is no longer a luxury we can afford."

A Shade approached Jericho, bearing a small thin object that glowed faintly, with buttons all over. It was pretty obviously salvaged from a shadow pool - some forgotten memory of another place. From behind its cracked glass flickered the words LOCKED, and several blank spaces. A puzzle? Or just another piece of junk? "Jericho. My Shades have discovered a forgotten object, of strange metal magic. Seeing as you are a collector of unusual wares..."

He glanced over to Night from beneath the crown. There was still a hint of translucency to his form. "I cannot leave the kingdom, but my power can - if it is given to others to wield as they see fit. In this way I do my part to ensure your victory in battle."

Before he could say more, something interrupted him.

The Voice.

Aymet bolted up from the throne. His eyes were wide, staring through them to Voice's visions still flashing through his mind. He spoke, and an echo flowed through the shades in the room and all throughout the kingdom. The same words, over and over, pouring forth from beings with no mouths or voice. It was a call that went out the farthest reaches of the darkness. "CHAMPIONS! TO ME!"

They gathered.

Everyone but my Advisor and Noble, head north to the tower. Quickly!” he added with a growl. He cut off the last two, sweeping in front of them. “Eldritch Advisor, you will head to the center and into the labyrinth. And Grim Noble, you will explore the corruption to the east. We have no time to lose.

A few living beings stuck out like sore thumbs against the darkness. They were grey ghosts, remnants of a kingdom everyone had just seen fall.

"You. Wandering Shadows of the Silver kingdom," the Shadowlord called them forward - Uru, Arynek, Uluiru, Rei, and Davyne. He was imposing, a tall creature of pure shadow with the faintest hints of cyan blue breaking up his features, and two burning eyes. When he spoke, there was a flash of sharp white teeth in the darkness of his face. "You have a choice. To let the world leave you behind, forgotten, empty shadows of what you once were. You can remain here, and await the fate the Voice has chosen for you."

"Or you can embrace these changes and become something new, stronger than before. Alongside our army, you could be great again. We can help you avenge your kingdom, if you help us preserve ours."

Aymet reached a clawed hand out to them. “Choose.

Marzena bowed her head in acknowledgement. "Indeed."

As they conversed, the other Shadows started playing on the stairs; a strange feat she watched out of the corner of her eyes. An eyebrow raised skeptically, but she said nothing to deride them of their... chosen pastime. Marzena did not see her duty to chastise them for such trivial ways of wasting their time before the battle began. The Shadows would rise up when the time came. At least that was what she believed in.

"Death will come when Fate decrees it." Justice stated. "What's more important is what we make out our death. Will we die cowards, or will we die heroes? I will confess that I fear dying of cowardice, but I do not fear if my death is for the good of our Kingdom."

And then, the Voice spoke, and she listened, understanding the grim fate that was laid out before them. Fight, or fall. That was their only option. "The time has come." She murmured, falling into silence once again as their King addressed them. "To the Tower it is, then."

Tess had been content to watch the wonderfully enchanting activity that boosted morale and bolstered team building. She would cheer and clap, jumping up and down in giddy delight. That was, until she heard The Voice and froze. She stood unmoving, listening, struggling to contain the excitement that began to well up within her.

And when They were summoned by their King, both halves of the whole merged into one to do as their King commanded.

"We obey!"

Rei didn't like the King's for the littlest bit. Even after hearing that he's in truth was a really great person, after seeing him in person he still can't shake the thought about 'there's bound to be something hidden by this one', which came from his experience as an Information Broker.

Also, honestly, getting swallowed by shadows that writhed as it were alive is an experience that surely enough to be experienced once.

But there's also a side of him that is pleased by the sudden summon; at the least, he can confirm Arynek-the gem-seller girl's-safety, as she currently is standing while donning confused look on her face,

"O KING!" Shouted Rei, lowering his hood as he ripped the bandages from his face using his unhurt hand.

"I am Rei. As you have said, me and others collected here were remnants from the Kingdom of Silver, which is no more. We, have heard your proposition of becoming the Black Kingdom's warriors...and by extension, citizens."

"We appreciate your thoughts. But, pray tell, My Wise King. What are you going to do with the current situation? Our lives-your Kingdom's Fate, every 'lives' inside it counted, will be measured through weighted scales by The Voice. Can you make a promise, that we, the Remnants would not experience the second or even third Collapse if we joined you?"

Calculating was his second nature. In this bet with life as collateral he wouldn't make a rash decision based on-the-spur thoughts.

Meegane
Rei says Hi! And getting swallowed by those shadow sucks, btw.

Astarael
Will Rei become a permanent citizen (thus getting special abilities) if he accepted the quest or can he remain as neutral?

( EXITING )

The Hermit watched as Justice and Judgement left, head tilted to one side as the tell-tale metal scrapes confirmed the fact that yes indeed they were currently shield-sledding down the stairs. He turned his attention back to the disarray he caused, watching as the Shades that lurked within the shadows emerged at last and began swiftly restoring order.

What possessed him to take everything? There was a need to know, and need to understand. He was clueless when it came to the art of war, a fact that would most assuredly get his Name removed and kicked out to become a Shade if the King ever found out. Merope was at heart a scavenger, someone who fished out memories and studied them as best as he could to sell later. While these weren't artifacts, they still contained secrets to what to do and how to fight for his Kingdom. He knew it.

The Hermit stopped as he heard the first call of the Voice. Then he moved, running over Shades and nearly tripping (if not for the support of his staff) in his haste to flee to the throne room. There he stayed on the edges, gripping his staff tightly as his King gave the orders.

"At once, my King." Merope said when the King was finished, bowing to him before turning and leaving swiftly.

His fingers twitched, hand itching to just drive the lance through the imposter, when a voice, swift but sure echoed through the land.
The king.

"Looks like this will have to wait until another time." he frowned, lowering the weapon.
The lance dissipated, and he summoned his shade, without another word returning to the king's side.

So... the silver kingdom had fallen? That would dictate these... stray beings appearing. But more important that them, was the miasma left behind by their unfortunate demise. Surely other kingdoms would have realized by now, that this treasure trove was up for grabs. This was a chance for him to prove himself, a chance for them, as a kingdom to rise again.
They would prove that they were the ones fit to be on top. All the other nations shall fall.

With this location assigned, the Chariot placed a hand over his chest and bowed.
"So it shall be, my liege."

Climbing upon the shade's back, he left for the silver kingdom remains.

Arynek was spaced out, in her own world with all the uncertainties. She frowned and tilted her head. Everything was so unfamiliar here. She was hiding, behind some obsidian pillars, peeking at the Shadows like a stray cat at night. Then, she saw a shadow, male inferred from his voice, talking to the rest. He must be an authority, the girl thought. He was distributing his people to the stages the Voice prepared.

"You."

The shadow who believed to be the king suddenly stared at where she was hiding. She was spotted? Arynek walked out from the pillar hesitatingly when the King called her name out. How can it be? How did he know her name? She was confused.

Rei? Did he say Rei? Would he be the Rei she know?

She stared at the other wild cards, once citizens of the Silver Kingdom like she did. Rei! She was so glad to see him again. At least one of her friends was confirmed safe.

The message from the King was straightforward. Either join them or remain as remnant. There was a choice given to her. Now, it's her turn. Become one of them or watch as the other kingdoms fall like Silver. The answer was simple.

Arynek wasn't stirred, the only meaning of her existence was to reunion with her beloved one and witness the misfortune the Voice would be bringing. So when she heard that the King would take revenge for them and that she would become stronger, she decided her stance.

She stood out, closer to the king, looking at the king, eye-to-eye. "E-even if that mean against the Voice?" Arynek gazed at the Shadow who is much taller and imposing, a question needed to be asked. Also a challenge to the Black King. If the King could show his sincerity, she will show hers. Against the Voice wasn't a wise choice for the majority, however, if the King has the guts to do so, she will follow. "I have made my stand, now it's your turn" Arynek was never a brave girl, if you observe carefully, she was shivering, the whole body of her.

AstaraeI
Do you dare to go against the Voice? 8D

Rathurue
Arynek is glad that Rei is okay.

"I figured you would." Amrita chuckled softly, letting Mari carry on as she pleased. Affection wasn't something she was used to, but even a Shadow likes to be enjoyed now and again. She sometimes wished she could be as friendly and forward as the Lovers were...

"Thank you, Mari. I think perhaps---" She paused as The Voice called, her gaze growing distant as she listened, saw, learned. It ended and their King's voice rang through, Amrita giving only a silent glance to Mari before turning to gather with the rest of them. When she arrived he was already baring orders, and when he cut her and the Grim Noble off, she focused on him, listening intently.

"Understood." A graceful bow and she was off, heading alone, without a question or second thought, to the Labyrinth.

Whisper listened intently to the kings orders. She knew her mission, and now she could focus her being upon it. She bowed before she turned to leave. This was her chance to prove that even if she was just a Dark Herald, she could do just as much as any other. She would not be underestimated.

It would appear that the king was like his own, remained within a tower. But unlike his late king, he might be able to meet this one face to face. What was a king like? Were they powerful? If this girl was a shadow, then what was the king? Was he also a shadow or was he something... more?

Though, he wasn't afraid. There wasn't much he could lose now at this point. The Silver Kingdom is gone, the Voice told all of its fate. It would appear that there was very little sound other than the clang of metal that could be heard. Therefore, little music to be heard. All he had was himself and the pack on his back. He sincerely hoped the other Silvers fared much better than he managed.

"If the king does not want me, that is fine. I am sure there is always another option." Optimism. False hope. What was there else to do? The Silver Kingdom was gone. As far as he knew, he was stuck here. He kept his mind to himself as he followed the girl up to the large doors that the tower kept. The Shadow King was inside and he was about to meet him.

Jericho's eyes brightened as he saw the King procure a curious object. Carefully, he took it, looking it over. He would need to take some time to examine this later.

"Thank you my king, I am most grateful," he said with a bow, taking the trinket and storing it away for later.

Soon the voice could be heard, as startling as it was to suddenly hear it. Jericho instinctively looked around for the source, but he found nothing. It was simply that. A voice. And nothing more. Listening carefully, he soon grinned as it was now time to get started. Battles were upcoming. And he knew fortune would be on their side.

"Yes, my Lord!" the shadow shouted as the King ordered most of them to to the tower. Turning, he ran on off.

Her golden eyes crinkled to mere slits at those words, and a laugh spilled from her, shrill and unnerving. "Oh, I like you. You speak sense, and sense is something sorely lacking these days."

The rambunctious actions of the other fools was, for the most part, ignored. Whenever someone shrieked, she couldn't help but glance, but her attention remained fixed upon Justice. Suddenly, a fanfare of horns played, and Nevena was struck by the magnificence that was The Voice.

Her breath caught, and when she finally remembered to speak again, her words were faint. "Indeed."

The summons of the King were met immediately, and The Hierophant stood tall. "I will obey, my King."

"Understood, my liege!" Amarus replied, bowing deeply.

For once, she was pleased with this decree. The remains of the tower would be theirs for the reaping. Amarus wondered, in that moment, briefly: was revenge theirs to take, or theirs to distribute? As Judgement, did she not have to think of such things? Who deserved revenge?

Whoever destroyed the home of the Silver Kingdom; they had been neutral, why did they deserve to fall? But Amarus would not grow weak nor hesitate in sentimentality: if the Silver Kingdom fell, the others may be next.

Her beloved Kingdom, all she had ever know, she would not fail. She could not afford to fail them.

"Where Judgement passes, Justice must be exacted," she replied, with a wink. Her own way of agreeing that they were stronger as a team, and that they'd stay that way in the tower.

She straightened her armour, bound her hair anew and adjusted her meteor hammer. With a nod to Aezeloth, she prepared to leave for their designated proving grounds.

"I mean no harm to you nor your Kingdom, Shadow." It was the most diplomatic she was capable of being at this time, and to illustrate her harmlessness, Davyne held her hands in front of her, palms up. She held no weapons, and had none hidden away - a mistake, perhaps, but the Silver Kingdom had always been peaceful and she had not seen the use for carrying arms.

"I am... lost." She was visibly tense as she said this, wondering how much she should divulge. Surely there would be no harm in telling this Shadow of her Kingdom's fall? He seemed to be about ready to skewer her, and she had not escaped the ruin of the Silver Kingdom just to get done in by her own refusal to share information. And they were bound to hear of it soon enough, if they had not already. "The Silver Kingdom is gone. It fell to rubble within minutes. I escaped, through the portal." She made a vague gesture to the location from which she'd came from. "I was not aware of where I'd end up, but I can assure you that the last thing on my mind is harming this Kingdom." Her safety depended on its goodwill as much as any citizen, after all - perhaps more so, now that she was without the home that had always been her's.

Although not quite sure how else to convince him, Davyne was ready to continue when everything seemed to darken and then disappear until there was only a void of nothingness and the Voice.

And what it spoke.

When it was all done and she was back to herself (although she was not entirely sure that she had ever been gone), the golden-haired woman felt shaken. 'Fight for Kings or find themselves with the same fate.' That was... that was rather clear, wasn't it. She would need to pledge herself, and soon, was her guess.

And then came the call. Ever so subtly she startled, hands clenching until her knuckles were pure white. Champions. Was she a Champion? No, likely not, but a call like that, surely only the Shadowlord could have made - and she rather needed to meet with him if she was to pledge herself. Going to another Kingdom was not an option right now, and she needed the security of belonging to a Kingdom, stat.

So she went, moving towards the tower that she was pretty certain had to be the meeting point. As she passed him, she nodded gravely to the Shadow who'd questioned her and whose presence she had forgotten until this very moment. This took precedence over his concerns.

As it happened, she was right about the location and soon enough she was among a cluster of Shadows and a few outsiders like herself, listening to the Shadowlord speak.

((Totally derped and misunderstood something, so last part deleted!))

AstaraeI
I apologize for not posting his arrival earlier, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to yet or not when the events started happening. So um, hello from Rex the wild card?

[entering from silver kingdom]

What or who he crashed into as he slid through the portal from the collapsing silver kingdom Rex did not know, he only knew that it was HARD. Sitting up he shook his head, trying to clear the cobwebs and maybe understand just what had happened.

It took a moment for him to look around and wonder where he was. Everything was...dark...and shadowy, why was it so dark? No color anywhere? Hmph, he did not like this place, which he may have correctly assumed was the black kingdom. Well, it was good thing he still had that can of pink spray--

He froze, eyes widening at the sound of the voice, at the images he saw. Was that his home? What had happened?! Where was everyone? Oh, he hoped his sharp toothed friend was okay...was he here too? What was he supposed to do now?
