Okay, now can you tell me what totems are and how to get them? I just read a profile saying their character had a weapon that could auto-hit people unless they had an active totem...

Spells are divided into three categories, Buso Renkin, attack spells; totems, defence spells; and summons, for everything else.
I'm still working on a better name for the summon group, as they don't have to actually summon anything. This group is more for utility spells.

Are there any limits on what you can have as your abilities? Or how many abilities you can have?

All spells have to be approved my a crew member, so just make the ones you want and well help you modify them if need be. You get three to start with.

If you were actually talking about the ability part, then just put want you want and a crew member will help you modify anything that need it.

Okay, I'd like the power of emotion-based shapeshifting, but I'm not sure quite how to get it. I would like this to be a power that my character can activate at any time, depending on her mood. E.g. When she's really happy, she could turn into a golden retriever with bright, colourful parrot wings. Or if she's sad, she would turn into a droopy slime monster maybe. In the mood to hunt, she could develop a hunting hound's head and sense of smell. In the mood for speed, perhaps a cheetah's body with hare legs. Etc. How would I get this power? Could I call it a constant summon-ability if I chose to give up a base element and put all my points to unlock the element of Body? I had the impression though, that summons were one-use things that you could only activate once every few posts or something.

Do you want it to be an ability that she could use whenever she wanted, or an involuntary thing where when she's sad she turns into droopy slime weather she wants to or not?

I would say it's involuntary. Only time her body would not transform according to emotions would be if she was so tired that she was physically unable to transform or really feel much of anything at all.

Then it would go under the abilities section, rather than being a spell.

Thanks! Hey, I just completed my profile. Could you take a look at it? I would have changed it to Kai Merah (pending approval) except that I don't know how to...

By the way, I wanted to ask... What does it mean for your spells when you put 'points' in an element? Do they get stronger? Do more damage or protect more? Does the strength of all your spells depend on how many 'points' you have in your element? How do you know when you have enough 'points' in an element to upgrade all your spells?

Also, my character is mostly going to fight bare-handed. And she is going to use both hands, plus her tail, and any other limbs she shapeshifts on. Don't tell me I need to apply for dual-wielding because of that? How would that even work, anyway?

Finally, I don't think I understand 'spiritual power' very well. The FAQ says "Points dropped into this slot will prevent others who aren't with in 5 points of this person from attacking them for any reason. For those not wanting to battle others or avoid battle with weaker or stronger people this slot can be the perfect way to protect them selves."

How does that work, exactly? You're not able to battle anyone significantly spiritually stronger or weaker than you? Stronger, I understand, since you feel their spiritual power and are disinclined to fight because you know you'll lose. But weaker?

Also, how is spiritual power an gauge for how strong a person is? People could dump all their skill points into stats other than spiritual power, and they would be much stronger than someone who kept putting everything into spiritual power.

You can change the name of the thread by editing the first post.

Yes, spells get stronger when you put points into the element. How many points each element requires is in the faq.

You do not need to dual-wield hand-to-hand, but I do recommend upgrading it.

The wording can be a bit confusing; I should edit that. Spiritual power only applies to characters with lower spiritual power. And it’s spiritual strength, not magical or physical strength. They aren’t the same thing.

Now that I’ve answered your questions, I’ll address the issues with your character. First, the regenerations ability is a bit overpowered. Instead of completely healing any wounds, have it just heal ❖❖ instead. A health bar cost 5 skill points, looks like you only used 1. Make fire flicker double speed for 3 turns and have her take damage every turn.

Okay, I edited my profile according to your suggestions. Thanks for pointing out the health thing to me by the way. Do look at fire flicker again, because I'm not sure I got what you wanted exactly right

My hand to hand is already ❖❖ because of my class as ninja. I should upgrade it further so both hands do the same damage? How do I represent that?

And can you explain spiritual power a bit more to me? It stops those with significantly higher or lower power than you from attacking you? Or you attacking them? How does that work, exactly?

Make fire flicker's side effect say "Damages Kai's own body by ❖ every turn."

You don't need to take dual-wielding with hand-to-hand, but you can invest points so that all your attacks do more damage.

Okay, my OC Raz has a spirtual power of 50, so only characters with spiritual power of 45 or more can attack him, unless he attacks them first.

Can you give me a list of how you spent your skill points?

Okay, edited. So as it is, every solid hit Kai makes with her body will decrease her opponents' health by ❖❖? And it will take me five points to increase this damage by ❖. This applies to any part of Kai's body she used to hit with? As in, it doesn't just apply to her hands, does it?

What is the in-game explanation for how spiritual power works? Is it that those with weaker spiritual power are intimidated by the 'aura' of someone else's stronger spiritual power and thus are reluctant to attack? But they're still able to attack if they're attacked first, right?

Exactly, that's how hand-to-hand workds.

There is no universal in game explanation. Sone OC's may intimidate their foes, while others, such as Raz, calms anyone that comes near him.

And again, give me a list of how he spent your skill points.

Right, changed my mind then. I'd like to switch to Rogue class. Edited my profile already, and put five points in HP, Mana, and hand to hand. Zero points left over.
