"It's okay." Fredrich comforted and hugged the boy tightly without hurting him. "If anything ever happens I'll be here for you. I won't let anyone hurt you." he promised.
Cameron shrugged. "It's kinda a red flag when you're both the kid's guardian and when said kid calls you the mom figure." he pointed out then smirked at the songwriter. "Then there's this look you get when you're around him. But hey, I could've just imagined it." he shrugged and licked at his ice cream again.

"He won't come back, I promise." he assured while rubbing the boy's back. "Now, why don't we go back to Cameron and Ellery? I'm sure they're very worried about you." he said and looked back to smile softly at him.
The officer gave it some thought. "I can't really explain it, but you just get this weird look in your eyes. I see it a lot with my dates." he murmured. Speaking of which, it had been a while since he went on a date. He was about to go on one when he caught wind of his dad being hunted, so he kinda stood that poor girl up. Oh well, there were plenty of good-looking girls in the school, some boys too, and he wasn't picky with age.

The detective nodded and picked the boy up, heading over to the sink to clean his face up.
"Whoa there, no need to get defensive." Cameron said and held his free hand up in a sign of peace. "Here, let me make it up to you and feed ya, eh?" he beamed and got out one of the complimentary spoons. He got a small spoonful of Ellery's ice cream and held it out to his face. "Say 'ahh'." he teased.
Fredrich was just walking out with Daniel in his arms when he noticed the interesting spectacle taking place. "I see you two are getting along." the detective mused as he sat back on his side of the booth, setting Daniel down beside him.
"Aww, are you jealous my wittle Freddy-poo?" Cameron snickered and moved the spoon towards the detective. "I'll always have time to fee you ice cream, baby." he winked, smiling at the growl he got in response.

"Other than the police officer trying to baby feed me ice cream, yes." Fredrich grunted as he glared at the spoon Cameron insisted on stuffing into his mouth. They stayed in the stalemate for a while before the shorter of the two reluctantly pulled his spoon away. "You're both party-poopers." he grumbled and ate the half-melted ice cream himself.
"Anyway," Fredrich sighed and poked at his ice cream with a plastic spoon. "Daniel's fine. It was only a misunderstanding." he assured.

"Because it's funny to see Freddy get mad." Cameron answered while smirking at the still seething detective.

Fredrich looked up at him for a moment. "Can't it wait?" he asked, but after a while he paused and got his answer. "Very well." he sighed and moved out of the booth, striding out the door in no time.

Cameron, on the other hand, just kept eating his ice cream. "Mmm. Let 'em figure that out." he advised. "I'm sure one of 'em will find somebody and all that. Or you could run away. Either way's fine." he shrugged and took in another spoonful of Ellery's ice cream.

"I told you, nothing." Fredrich pressed. "He had a flashback of his stepfather and had a momentary panic attack. He's better now, and I'm sure he will be as long as he stays around you, me, and Cameron."

"You can't exactly force them into this kinda thing, either." Cameron pointed out. "It wouldn't be far to them. I mean, I know how much it sucks to lose parents. My mom died recently, and my dad completely lost his mind. Seriously, he can't stop smiling. He's here somewhere if you ever want to meet him." He propped his elbows onto the table and leaned against his laced fingers. "Anyway, all I'm saying is... What am I saying? Ah, I can't remember." he grunted and decided to keep the comfortable pose he was in.

"Cameron's not all there, but he's not a bad influence." Fredrich said, somewhat offended to have his friend ridiculed. "Daniel hasn't known him for longer than an hour, and already he likes him much more than he started with us. His eyes are just fine, too."
