Maion turned then, quirking a brow as his interest spiked a little. His star necklace slipping to the ground, landing between his crossed legs. "I have some advice for you.... " He smiled, "You're taking over my role here... right?" He had noticed how Chandra seemed to be picking up the slack, taking charge, which meant that Sonnet would take over as Guardian, right? He laughed, actually laughed. "This is the part where I meant to give you advice. Tell you how you need to be the pillar for everyone, the silent strength, know everything and learn everyone's personalities so you can use them to the best of their ability. You don't need to burden everything, asking for help is ok... but you know... there is only one thing that really matters. Follow your heart." Something that right now Maion felt as if he couldn't do.

Sonnet shifted on his hooves feeling really awkward about this, somthing with this conversation felt off. Looking at Maion, his eyes shifting to the star pendant that had fallen to the ground. His eyes meeting Maion's and nodding. "That is all I have ever done." Not knowing any other way really, following his heart had lead him to where he was, though it wasn't always a smooth path. Tilting his head, expression questioning. What's going on Maion?"
PostPosted: Tue Nov 27, 2012 5:45 am

Maion nodded at that, remembering the colt Sonnet had once been, how he had put everything into to learning to fly, how he had stood up for himself and even come to face Maion in person... despite the hard news that he was both mating his daughter and expecting foals. Yeah, that had been a shock, even for this old stallion. "I know you have. That is why I trust you.... you will look after them."

The pain in his eyes at Sonnet's next question had him swallowing hard, he was more than aware that he had yet to tell anyone. Perhaps now was the time. "I am leaving my mate." He finally said, sure he had likely said something similar before. "...and it is killing me...."

This was a surprise, he was sure Chandra knew nothing, she knew only that they were having troubles and that was all Maion had said. Then again chandra would have asked more had this been what he said to her. As for Sonnet he knew little to nothing of the mare in question beyond what she looked like. He had always thought that a herd leader and a mother should care about those in her charge, but it seemed chandras mother was no better than his own. His eyes showing the pain of a wound that was still raw at the thought of his mother. Nodding as he settled down on the ground, not liking to loom over the stallion. "I'm sure you have a good reason Maion and I'm sure its not easy for you... I'm here to listen if you need someone to." He would not talk to Chandra about this, but then there were things he might understand that she would not, even if her parents split she would know they loved her, both of them, always. He on the other had had never even met his, he had watched his father nurse his broken heart through his growing years. He had faced knowing that he had been less than unwanted. He would be there for Maion, he hadn't been old enough to help his own father, hadn't understood then...

Maion laughed again, though it was a rather humourless sound. "I'm running away Sonnet, there is nothing else to say." His eyes looked up at the moon once more, the bitter sweet memory of meeting his mate... after all, his once silent mate had been granted the name Moon. He was controlled by the Moon, just like the Ocean. It would always call to him, summon the secret part of his heart. "Look after my family Sonnet, I am no longer able to." He looked at the ground and the silver that sat there. "Elijah...." The little fox appeared again, dragging the heavy necklace towards the other. "I want you to have this. So that no matter what... I shall always be with you."

Sonnet glanced at the fox and star shaped pendant then back to Maion. "There's no shame in retreating and licking your wounds Maion, there is only so mucvh anyone can take. For whatever reason you need to be away from your mate, and you know I will watch over our family without question but that means you too. So don't feel that you are facing this alone, you are far from that, you have many here that love and care about you." And they did, nearly the whole heard was going to come with them. not that Maion knew that.
PostPosted: Tue Nov 27, 2012 6:14 am

True, Maion knew that, but his eyes felt closed despite them being open. He couldn't see through the pain and the fog, nothing made sense anymore, which way was up, which way was down... he didn't know. Yes, he was running away. Needed to. "That is still for you. They are YOUR herd now, and I know you will rise to the responsibility. You may not have expected it, may not have wanted it.... but... " He fell silent, his head resting on the ground. The smell of apples enticing after having very little to eat. "Elijah... please help our friend out." Elijah did just that, tying the necklace into place. Maion's head snapped to attention and he looked at Sonnet. "You are now guardian here."

Sonnet looked down not able to see it but he could feel the heavier pendant over the dreamcatcher he wore much like his father. Shifting a little feeling uncomfortable with the two items around his neck, one with a lot of responsibility. Shifting his head, his hair partially under the new cord. Looking Maion in the eye. "They will always be your herd Maion, making me Guardian doesn't change that, you will always be a part of us no matter what." No judgement on his face, knowing that after Auva was hurt he had needed time to deal with it, and this was different but Maion had the same need, though it was more the place and memories he was escaping, not the soquili. "Is it just the place that needs to change or is it us too?" He knew it was a blunt question but what they had planned would only make matters worse if it was hte herd members too.

Maion looked up at that and frowned, was he pushing everyone away without meaning to? Perhaps, he hadn't been as active and attentive lately... ever since that argument with Sengdroma he had felt like a ghost wandering around. "The place..." He eventually said, looking away and to the lake once more. "...I love you all dearly, you are each like a star upon my pelt. Shining brightly and uniquely, and I am so proud to have watched you all grow, to help polish you so you shine even brighter." He smiled softly. "But this place is a maze now, and no matter where I turn... I am trapped and lost."

Sonnet nodded, smiling softly, his eyes understanding, voice soft. "Its time to take the walls of the maze down and move on" He understood that, at least a little, murmering to himself as he is reminded of some things. "If you keep moving maybe th pain wont find you again... Sometimes it can't find you anyway..." Sighing and shaking his head, shrugging. "Seeing something new might help, though when it rains you just need to look for rainbows."
PostPosted: Tue Nov 27, 2012 6:41 am

Maion looked to the sky, "It's too dark for rainbows." A small smile spread over his lips despite himself. "But one day.... maybe I will get to see one."

Sonnet smiled at that and looked up. "Maion, when its dark you look for stars." His pale eyes glinting in the darkness. "As for rainbows theres nothing in the night that quite matches it, stars are beautiful and bring so many feelings out, but I think Rainbows.... they bring joy before anything else. They remind me that sometimes thigns have to go wrong before they go right. Cant have a rainbow without it raining first after all." Blushing and shifting again, feeling the tug of his hair under Maion's... now his.... pendant, enbarassed that he was talking like this to one like a father to him.

Maion chuckled a little hearty at that, feeling surprisingly better. Even if his heart continued to throb, it would for a long time he realised, but there was no changing that. "Hopefully the storm passes quickly." He mumbled, more to himself than the other. A sigh and a shake of his head, his long mane dancing around him. "Is there anything you need before I leave?"

Sonnet shook his head his smile going sad again though under the sad smile he knew there was no need for it, but the thought of Maion alone and hurting still brought it out. "No, you have already given me everything I'll ever need." Not sure Maion would understand he meant Chandra with that but he wouldn't elabourate. "BUT... If you need anything, I am always here for you Maion."
PostPosted: Tue Nov 27, 2012 6:59 am

Maion turned and nodded once at Sonnet, before returning his gaze to the lake. Elijah snuggled back against him, obviously his little fox could feel his pain... not surprising, they had been together a long time. No more words were needed, Sonnet knew what he needed to, the herd would be in good hooves... and Maion would be free to wander and seek.... something. He didn't know what. He would be sad to miss the birth of Eden's foals, after everything the strange female had gone through, after finding her own mate... it would have been nice to see it reach it's conclusion. Three boys. He recalled Alice telling everyone at the party, he was still overjoyed for them. Then there was Crown, the lad had always looked up to him... abandoning him was just as difficult as leaving his daughter and sons, then again, the whole herd had become his family. Direct or indirect. They were his... no... they were no Sonnet's. Still, the idea that he could still call them his herd, still have a place to come back to... was reasuring. Especially since he had no idea where his heart would take him.

Sonnet nodded and picked up the bag he had brought the apples in, giving Maion a nod again as he stood and turned to leave, feeling the weight of th star about his neck like an alien thing, especially as it tangled a little in the dream catcher, maybe he could give it to Renesme and see if she could work out how to put th dream catcher in his mane. He wouldn't disguard it, his father had given it to him when he was young, but he couldn't wear both around his neck comfortably, and the dream catcher was lighter. Heading towards where Renesme probably was, betting she was with her daughter, and there being a chance Chan was too. Though he would see her later anyway, this was a quick stop before gathering the protectors.

Chandra smiled at Renesme, it was easy being around the older mare, she was sweet.... and a little eccentric, but it was obvious she loved her family. Her eyes wandered to the small wings on her back, and wondered what it would be like to not be able to fly much.....? Chandra knew she should be thankful for what she had. "Everything is looking good." She turned her attention back to the expectant mare. "You're doing very well Eden, positively glowing." She chirped, her attention shifting to Orion for a moment, who also seemed to blush at her words. "How are the preparations going?"

Renesme smiled at her daughter, eyes bright and shining with love. "Doesn't she? Pregnancy really suits her." She said brightly, "Next time I want three granddaughters...." She winked teasingly at Orion, "Think you can manage that, stud?" Yes, she was teasing him, but it was the only way she could think of to include the otherwise silent stallion in the conversation.

Orion blushed brightly, the colour only deepening the more people spoke. "I... I... we... I mean... I...." He gave up and buried his nose under Edens wing instead from embrassement.

Eden buried her nose under there with him, this being a comforting thing she had adopted since becoming pregnant, thoughshe liked doing it anyway with Orion, creating a little world of just them. She was going to keep it up after she was back to herself more. "I am again very sorry for my mother.... I can only put it down to either excitement or landing on her head too much when she was learning to fly..." Dry humor in her tone as it filtered through her wing a little muffled.

Sonnet had been walking along thinking, though he looked up and focused on the odd scene as he wandered into th area that had Eden and Orion in, and their company. Tilting his head a little, he gave a small snort as he surpressed a laugh and swallowed it. Putting an unsure smile on his face knowing that if he laughed there might well be hell to pay from the two older mares. Smiling at them plesantly though, looking uncomfortable, the weight of th pendant around his neck unfamiliar. His awareness of it and what it meant only making him more uncomfortable.
PostPosted: Thu Nov 29, 2012 2:35 am

Chandra bit back a chuckle at Eden's actions, and words, after all she could hear what the other mare was saying... sure that her mother could do. Who, Chandra noted, took it all in her stride. "Shall we continue....?" She was about to say more when she heard footsteps, for a moment she jumped a little in surprise, instantly relaxing the moment she saw it was Sonnet. Her smile bright and fresh upon her features. "Sweethe--" The endearment stalled in her throat as he eyes fell upon... her fathers star necklace? Her heart started to beat too fast and her breath shallowed... why... why did Sonnet have that? Her eyes trailed up her mates neck before seeking his eyes in silent question.

Renesme didn't even blink as Sonnet appeared, seemed completely oblivious to Chandra's reaction or the cause as she looked at her daughter and son-in-law. "Did your brother come and say good bye this morning? His... eh.... friend, seemed very nice, don't you think?" Crown had made the situation known, and it had completely surprised her... her son liked... stallions? Sure the guy seemed nice enough, but that would mean no grandchildren from him? Something that disappointed her a little even as she wanted him to be happy. Her mind was still trying to sort it all out and process it.

Orion smiled softly at his mate and tried to ignore the rest of the world.

Sonnet went pink at the look on chandras face tohugh the worry there made him move closer and nuzzle her reassuringly. Sighing and speaking loud enouh so that the others could hear though he wasn't announcoing anything really. "Maion made me guardian." The silver star gleaming as he shifted, he would let that sink in before asking Renesme if she could work her talents for him on the dreamcatcher.

Eden gave Orion a peck on the nose and lifted her head out to look at her mother, glancing at sonnet and Chandra, leaving the to talk. "Kyran is nice, you might have herd about him before, Heze called him Mr Fluffy when she was small, though she ran into him totally by accident when out with us. They will work things out, Crown just needs some time I think, now he is finally admitting the truth of himself. He will be back, they probably both will." Smiling warmly at her mother, feeling very sure that her brother was going to be fine.

Chandra blinked in surprise, her brain seemingly unable to process her words... her father had willingly gave Sonnet the guardianship, his blessing? Her smiled started off small but before long it was large and bright. They could do this, together, and not just the 'together' that was her and Sonnet, but the together that included every herd member. Sonnet would keep things on track and Chandra would ensure everyone's happiness while doing her best to guide them down the right path. Her heart actually skipped a beat even as she accepted Sonnet's affection. "Does he know?" She eventually managed to say, "That we're going with him?" She was trying to figure out what all this meant..... but the idea they had his permission, his love, meant so much to Chandra.

Renesme nodded at her daughter, "Mr Fluffy? I can see why she would think that." She would have said more but Chandra and Sonnet caughter her attention, her eyes darting to the necklace that seemed to be causing so much interest.... oh? Maion had stood down on his own? A small surpise to the mare who had come here under Maion's protection, who had accepted his love and guidence as if it was law. Sure, she had had a mother and father figure but Maion had never once abandoned her or left her to stew alone... she knew in her heart that Chandra would stand in his shadow and come out shining like her very own star, a star that was already showing signs of promise. Sonnet, he would do well too, he would accept a burden and do well with it. She trusted the pair, even if they were youngest than her, she couldn't think of two soquili more deserving or capable. "Congradulations." She said softly, her smile soft and sincere.

Orion blushed at the kiss, snuggled into the warmth for a moment longer before reluctantly pulling back and looking at the scene before him. He didn't comment, simply looked at his mates bump.... three sons? He still couldn't believe it.

Sonnet shook his head, to answer Chandras question, he would explain fully soon but he had come here for other reasons and Renesme speaking to him made the asking imminant. Smiling at her, looking uncomfortable still he nodded. "Thank you Renesme, though in truth I came here to see you about something else, not make announcements. Though I knew Chan would be here too," Smiling at his mate a moment and giving her a nuzzle before looking at Renesme again. "Everyone knows you have a talent for accessorising, I think thats where Eden gets her talent for invention from... Having both pendants around my neck is not comfortable, especially given that one is heavier than I'm used to, so I was wondering if you could work your skills on my dreamcatcher for me. My father gave it to me when I was small and I don't want to loose it, I was thinking there might be a way to fasten it into my mane?" He didn't sound sure but then he had no idea what was possible or not. Looking back to Chandra he smiled sadly but warmly. "I didn't tell him what we are up to, I just get the feeling that it will mean more at that moment to know that we are all going with him. Its the place not us he is needing to leave so maybe knowing those first steps wont be alone will help, and maybe knowing he will see new foals arrive will help....." Smile fading he sighed softly. "...He is heartbroken North Star, its not an easy thing to overcome."

Eden smiled and settled down again, watchign with Orion not feelign the need to talk ot add anything for the moment.
PostPosted: Thu Nov 29, 2012 3:20 am

Chandra smiled softly and nodded at Sonnet's words, taking them into consideration for a moment instead of saying more. The idea that her mate now wore something from both his 'fathers', natural and mated-into, made her smile more. She turned her attention to Renesme sure that the mare would be able to do exactly what Sonnet wanted.

Renesme blinked in surprise at the explaination, "Oh?" At least until her expression turned to a bright smile. "It would be my honour... guardian Sonnet." She said, using hsi title for a moment. "Leave it with me." She got up and approached, asking permission with her eyes before she undid the dreamcatches tie and took it carefully in her mouth. Sitting down she looked at it for a moment. "Do you want some of your hair wrapped around it, or would you rather it was simply clipped into place?" She mused, already seeing several possibilities and options, her warm honey coloured eyes looked up at the guy, her head tilting slightly as she considered everything. "Also.... it may not be my place, forgive me if I am out of line.... but the best thing anyone can do for Maion right now.... is..." She remembered exactly how the old stallion had cared for her. "Not mention the issue and just be there, silent support, distraction and happiness... it will slowly entice him to come out of his gloom once more." She frowned a little, wondering what had the old elder so heartbroken... Sengdroma? "It will be slow and hard road though."

Sonnet held still letting Renesme remove the dreamcatcher, though he had to work at keeping still, her nose tickling as she worked. Shaking when she removed it, his mane still caught under Maion's pendant. "I know... the heart takes a long time to heal, and even when you move on, its still not fully fixed and always bears the scars." His eyes sad and a little haunted, it would leave some to wonder if he was the one that had been heartbroken. But he had seen his father go through this, twice if you counted the insane part of his family turning up again... "As for what to do, you can do whatever you like with my mane, I have enough hair to go around. Just remember I dont fuss with it as a rule so nothign that will tangle too badly or require lots of fiddling every time it has to come out or go back in." Shrugging a little and hugging Chandra, givign her a hopeful look that she might get his hair out from under the pendant so it was more comfortable.

Renesme considered it a little more, "Very well, leave it to me." Her eyes twinkled a little, and she turned her attention back to Orion and Eden. "Do you guys need anything?" She wouldn't leave them, after all they were meant to stay in small groups and Renesme's 'partner' had gone off with Alice and Jasper to collect some information on the area. So Renesme planned to sit there and play with the dreamcatcher so that Sonnet could have it back before they left the day after.

Orion looked at his mate, kissed her very slightly, a quick -in an out- action as if caught doing something naughty before shaking his head at her mum, they were good, they had each other.

Chandra listened to her mate, "Sometimes I worry you're an old man in a young skin." She teased, after all he said profound things at times, of course at others time he was completely like a foal, all innocent and unsure... like when their girls arrived. He had been so cute as he flustered over them. She liked all the sides of him. When she noticed his look and the way the necklace seemed to sit on his hair she moved forward and tugged it free with her mouth, taking her time to move the pendant into position before smoothing the hair down. "Better?"

Eden smiled at Orion and gave him a little nuzzle before settling down comfortable again. "No, we are good, Haki and Heze were here earlier and we got the pulls finished, so it will be just a case of putting anything essential on them. I think we have more than we will need but with winter approaching being able to carry more with us is not going to be a bad thing. It will be a mostly mare job though as mot of the males now are on protector duty. however for now it will limit us to walking, flying with cargo is hard enough, but whe you have two holding the same cargo it can be very hard. We will learn and adapt as we go though."

Sonnet gave Chan a wry smile. "I'm not entirely sure I'm not." After all he had seen stallions older htan him acting like foals, Maion for one, but his childhood had aged him in some ways, growing up in a broken home, though his dad had doen the best he could, did leave an effect on an individual. Shaking his head when she got his mane free with a relieved sigh feeling much more comfortable, th weight the only alien thing about th pendant now. "Mmmm thank you, much better." Giving her a soft peck on the lips in thanks.
PostPosted: Thu Nov 29, 2012 5:10 am

Renesme nodded to her daughter and wiggled her little wings playfully, "I can't fly much anyway....." Most forgot the fact, but her little wings really could only just manage shoudl bursts... it had surprised even her when she had managed to fly to the other herd when the skinwalkers had come to attack Maion and the herd. She had been pregnant too, but it had been the only thing Renesme could do and she had WANTED to do it. A short burst was very different to a more perminant situation. Chandra had already spoken to her about it, they knew her limitations. She would do what she could but still... and of course Orion didn't generally show off his wings, how was he meant to fly for long periods of time with everyone? Then there was Cael and Ab who were both grounded stallions. No, walking was really their own option.... of course Chandra had mused that flight would give them an advantage in defence, even if the other mare hadn't seem particularly happy about it. Renesme understood, for someone who honoured life so she couldn't understand the need of others to destroy it, she knew it exsisted, had seen the worst of the darkness in the world, knew death lirked for the unlucky... she just couldn't understand it. Not that Renesme blamed her, she had been hunted all of her life and even she couldn't understand it. "Ok. Don't mind me then, I'm going to work on this for Sonnet." She smiled brightly and started getting to work, wondering if she would need to gather some supplies to finish it.

Chandra chuckled slightly, "My old man then." She kissed him affectionatly, nipped his now free mane and then licked his cheek. "Don't worry too much ok, we'll be fine." Her eyes wandered to the necklace... her father had always worn it, it was odd seeing it on Sonnet, yet strangely... "It suits you." It really did. Even Chandra didn't know where it had come from, but she was sure that she had seen Kimi wearing one too.... family heirlooms? Whatever it was, she knew her father had wore it with pride for many years. "You know...." She said softly, accepting the small peck on the lips in thanks. "I have a hankering for...." She gulped, unsure why she was suddenly saying this, perhaps it was because her father had accepted the, or maybe it was because she knew Sonnet worried and she didn't want him to be distracted by her.... or maybe it was because she was starting to realise that maybe she wouldn't get a choice. She would always run, but if she couldn't... what then? "...for watching you in your training. I.... eh... I might even let you..." She blushed brightly and looked down at her hooves. "...show me something."

Eden smiled and settled down, quite happy to have a nap or just rest and chatter idly with her mother while she worked. Her work done thanks to much help... and Sonnets weird knowledge of knots, he knew all kinds and had shown her many. She would learn more another time.

Sonnet grumped a little at beign called an old man, not pointing out that he was younger than her, though not by much, a few weeks maybe? Looking at her as she stumbled over what she was trying to say, not totally sure but thinking she was wanting him to help her learn some self defence. Though he rejected that idea right away. His expression questioning and curious as he waited quietly for her to actually get th wrds out that she needed to.

Renesme idly started to work, speaking up at random intervals about random things. The weather, their contraptions, Eden's opinion so far on the head charm she was crafting, even names for the boys. "Daiki. I like Daiki." She admitted softly, her names had been odd... Crown, Paris and Eden, but each had grown into their name. It wouldn't bother Renesme at all if her daughter rejected the idea, she simply remembered tossing ideas around with Alice about them when she had been expecting her babies. "You know... your Aunty Alice tried to get me to call your Gaia." She chuckled, "Said you would be like the spirit of the Earth." She smiled with love at her daughter, "But I had fallen in love with Eden long ago." She admitted.

Chandra blushed more and shifted on her hooves a little flustered... why was this so hard? Probably because she had fought with her father over this a lot growing up, yet here she was almost offering to do it willingly. "Come over here a minute..." She said, walking away from earshot, she didn't want anyone witnessing her little flustered show, pretty sure that she might be considered a hypocrite... or was she a hypocrit for making others do it for their safety when she had always refused? Oh she was so confused, even if she hadn't yet actually made anyone do anything other than have a medical and talk to her about their plans and abilities. She knew roughly what people would be good at and how fast they would be able to move... at least until Eden became so large that travel would become imposible, but then she hoped they would find a comfortable place to rest for a little while.

Looking up at her mate she blushed, her blue eyes shimmering with... tears? "I... am offering.... to let you teach me a little." She tilted her head, her expression a little sad. "I know you worry about me... and... well I don't think I will be very good at it, I don't even think I could hit anyone while practising.... but... I... don't want you to see me as the weak link... or... to worry because you think I am in danger...." Her words were softly spoken, only Sonnet could hear them, but they were only for Sonnet to hear.

Eden blushed though she was feeling too comfortable and lazy to move, then again she was a beached whale right now so she didn't have to. Giving a little snort having no idea how she was remotely like the spirit of the earth, unless it was in colour... brown and green, she had that covered... Then again she didn't see Eden as a fit either... Glancing at Orion and changing her mind on that, she was a place where one had at least found peace. Smiling softly and settling again, watching her mother fiddle with what was probably a treasure to Sonnet. Diaki is nice, though weird, not sure what it means but I'll think about that one.... I liked the name Rigel.... Its my way of mixing Crown and Orion together name wise." Smiling at the thought, not having had any ideas for a third name, wondering if that was a sign of some kind, but then she was not really a believer in signs.

Sonnet's eyes went wide and his jaw dropped, she was asking hum! He was stunned and that was putting it mildly. Shaking his head trying to remove his surprise, he shifted and cleared his throat. "That is your choice to make, but I think its always better to have something and not need it than to need something and not have it... Same workds for knowledge I guess. If you know it then it sits in your head till you need it, and if you never do then it just gets dusty. Besides we can't risk hurting eachother in training so you will have a grass stuffed sack to practice on. anything that requires actual soquili we learn first on eachother, but practice on the sack.... we give it twigs and such to make it look like a soquili. So you don't have to harm anyone to learn. And if you ever need it, tohugh i hope you don't... Then try o keep one thought in mind.... They will hurt you worse than you wil lthem or kill you if you cant stop the long enough to escape. Thats all it is. I wouldn't want you to stand a fight like a protector, Just be able to stop another from doing you or our children harm... Maybe some of th others would like to learn basic defence as well." His tone musing as he thinks about that.
