Sal was like no other horseman that Alex had ever met. For one, he didn't treat him like he was nothing more then an ignorant child...well, most of the time, anyways. He had no doubts that the Sage might leave quite a bit unsaid, however, or would put him in his place if necessary. He watched the man, amused as Sal bent his elbows, showing off his 'edges', and shook his head a little to himself.

What a weird guy.

"Oh, right, at Belladonna's booth?" He frowned, remembering how he had been there, briefly, but hadn't had a chance to visit with Mort and his ghoulfriend because of things.

Alex had a glance beyond Sal towards Soren, who seemed just..well, like his usual self, from what the zomboil could remember. "Here, have some spookies and cakes, on the house." The zomboil pushed the tray of goodies forward a bit, while murmuring quietly to Sal. "Maybe the sugar will sweeten him up a bit." Horses liked sugar, right? Too bad none of the cakes were carrot flavored.

And then suddenly, questions, about his face. Alex let his pale eye glance to the side to see if his mother was nearby, but apparently she had wandered off on her own for the moment. "Well uh, I um..may have accidentally lost it to a hunter." He muttered, rather sheepishly, keeping his voice low and quiet.

They were talking about such useless things. Soren was tempted to just walk out, but the treats, well. He eyed them, debating. Then his gaze flickered and...were those apples? The foal had not offered him one of those, though it had his interest now that he'd seen them. He glanced back toward the zombie as he answered. "Keep better track of body parts," he told him helpfully. Really, Soren gave the best advice.

He was just about to ask after the apples, more than willing to pay, when Sal approached. The gesture was impossible to miss. His eyes narrowed, a vein in his forehead throbbing, mouth in a thin line. He was not a mount. He had mounted yes, but he would never, ever allow himself to be mounted except by Invi. Very deliberately he lowered his head, eyes never truly leaving the Sage's face, and then bit at his fingers. He was not amused. The other could treat him like a mount, but Soren would more than show him that he was no tamed stallion.

When Soren went to bite him, Sal actually let him and made no move to remove his hand from the line of teeth. It hurt - badly - but he wasn't going to back down from something like this. If he couldn't follow through, then who was he to dish out what he did? Of course that was enough to make him take a sharp inhale in pain, his free hand coming up to pat the side of Soren's face.

"So I guess that means you don't want the treat?" Sal hissed through gritted teeth, smiling away regardless.

Oh right. Apples. That actually made a lot more sense then spookies. Alexander would have rolled his eye at the both of them, except that he actually did know better then that, and so he just continued to smile his fake, pasted on smile and gathered up the silver seeds to dump into a jar before picking up the entire tray of candy apples and offering them towards Soren and Sal.

The death horseman had basically bought them all. Hopefully Alex's mother wouldn't mind making some more.

Soren snorted at the idea. "If you talk her into it," he settled on, shrugging his shoulders before looking over his treats. Though if he had to look at his booth mates in that kind of light he would have thought Lifen would have been the more...interesting...option. There was a reason he gave out racks to people.

He browsed over his apples, selecting a rather nice looking one with a caramel coating and bit into it, getting a mouthful of mostly caramel. The nice bit of apple he did get helped it, and he crouched in from of the two, enjoying the treat that helped to get rid of any traces of student. He would not truly be clean of them for a long time, maybe after the festival he could just dissipate himself and come back renewed.

Apparently Alex was to just be their server for the time, offering the tray of apples up at any moment that either horseman looked like might be in need of another. The Sage and the guardian were talking about kissing....or at least, that seemed to be the topic they were currently discussing. Alex was actually trying very hard not to listen, because he didn't want to appear to be eavesdropping on a conversation that had nothing to do with him.

Sal had sat himself down on the ground beside him which was most amusing just because the horseman was wearing a suit. And then the question of his eye was brought back up and he pursed his lips, not bothering to hide the frown this time. Really, he wanted to talk about this here? Right now? To make it all seem even more ridonkulous, Soren was now crouching across from the two of them, and Alex suddenly felt as though this had turned into some twisted version of story time. Gather round, all ye who ride upon mounts. Let Alexander spin you a riveting tale of haunted houses, hunters, and undeath or real death.

Except that would require a certain amount of effort, something that Alex was often lacking in. Just another reason he was now single.

"I went on a bit of a hunter fighting spree. The more I fought them, the more I wanted revenge and the harder it got to think about anything else. One fight got a little bit out of hand, and the hunter ghoul managed to take down my fear shield. Then she stabbed me in the eye." He shrugged, keeping his voice low and mumbled the entire time. If Sal wanted more details then that he was going to have to ask more specific questions.

"I might ask, just to see the look on her face." Sal admitted to this whole kissing Lan business. She was a timid sort of Lady, and he found her adorable on so many levels.

Alex had Sal's full attention as he explained, briefly, what happened to his eye. Sal's expression was sleepy, calculated to not give away what he thought one way or the other. Besides, he didn't even know what to think; he was pleased with Alex's initiative, but at the same time...that was dangerous, and a lot worse could have happened.

He was stuck somewhere between ruthless murderer and doting parent. Again.

"I see." He said at length, taking another bite of his apple and thinking about what he as being told...and more importantly, tried to figure out how he felt about it. Curious, really; any other time he would have been all for this reckless behaviour, but since he was injured...Hrm. Maybe he was getting soft.

"Well, don't do anything you can't recover from." He decided with a nod, getting to his feet and setting his treats on the nearest flat surface...all so he could wrap long spindly arms around Alex and pull him in for a hug. "Keep up the good work, but don't be stupid." Don't be stupid and get yourself lacking an eye. Yes.
