The small girl couldn’t help but let her shoulders slump a little when she was all done with her exercise. She had successfully completed the task seven times, so she only needed three more in order to say that she was finished with it. Amaya had never imagined that she would make this much progress during the first day. Would she keep up the speed once they got up to more advanced techniques or would she have to back off? Metal work had taught her that it wasn’t all about how quickly you could get something done: if it was done right then it didn’t matter how long it took to complete. Perfection is irreplaceable. That was one of the little things that her father always mumbled in her direction while they were working. There were so many that she was sure she had forgotten some along the way. Then Amaya started wondering if she had missed any new orders that morning. The early day wasn’t their busy time, but she was also her dad’s bookkeeper; only because he hated keeping the records. Would he manage without her? He had managed before her, so he would probably be fine until she got home that evening. Amaya was the first one to venture outside the house for much of anything, so this was an exciting time for the whole family. For the girl because she got to live and for her family because they could live vicariously through her.

It was annoying to have to wait for her chakra to build back up, but it wasn’t an indefinite reservoir that she had to draw from either. Sure, it would be nice for her to just blast through everything but it would take away from the sense of accomplishment she was bound to experience at the end of the day. So, she would patiently wait out her time and allow herself to recover. Amaya went from relaxed and serene to mildly excited as she reached into her pocket for that same slip of paper that she had out earlier. Since she had made her chakra faintly visible, the child had some inspiration for the coloring of her custom weapon. She shaded and scribble as well as an eight-year-old could in order to form the image on her head into and image on a piece of paper. Her back was rounded and hunched as she leaned close to the paper. This was how she always wrote. The girl would hunch over and lean her nose as close to the paper as she could without getting the graphite on the tip. She looked like an old, decrepit, near-sighted grandma. Amaya often got comments in the shop that she should get her eyes checked, that it was bad posture or bad for her back, or that she was going to hurt her eyes. Sure, she found the comments slightly annoying, but she would thank them for the advice and go back to whatever she had been doing before.
She scribbled and sketch with furious excitement as she began to imagine what the shaped metal would look like in person. It was an image of pure beauty in her mind, though she wasn’t sure how her father would like it. Yukio preferred sharp, squared lines with dulled, blacked sheen. Amaya’s vision was brilliantly colored, though she would have to do some research to figure out which ores she would have to melt down and incorporate to create the color she wanted, and it would also be smoothed and curved so it would flow and move easily. It reminded her of the river after a storm: the waters high and fast from the influx of rain, but still gorgeously moving with nature around it.

Once Amaya was happy with the modifications to her drawing, she carefully folded it back up and slipped it into her pocket. While she was still young and in the academy, the girl had the liberty to change her design as she pleased. However, once it was time to actually fabricate the weapon, she wouldn’t have the chance to change and adjust the design. Once the first coal was lit her design would be final. No changes, no going back, no tweaking. Amaya believed that she was at an advantage in designing this as a young person. One thing that she noticed from her older customers, though their ideas were beautiful, they lacked imagination and innovation. There was nothing truly unique about them because they were renditions of the old. Her’s, however, would be something to stand on its own. No one would have anything like it if she did everything right. That was why she was always tweaking and adjusting as new ideas came to her. If her mind was as fluid and moving as her design then she would be able to create an original.
In the midst of all her thinking, Amaya had turned her eyes to the window. There was some activity outside, but not near as much as she had anticipated. Two people were running around the track: the Inuzuka and that girl who had come in late. Her name was Yae, if Amaya had heard correctly. It seemed like Yae was having some difficulties with her shoe. How odd. There was still no sign of Sakura, so the girl didn’t have anyone to talk to while she was resting. The boys’ sparring match was unfortunately slow. It would have given her something to watch if they were flailing and tumbling about.

Since there was nothing amusing going on with her classmates, Amaya stared at the clouds. She loved watching them shift and change. Plus, they were fluffy. You could never go wrong with fluffy. Yeah, her dad had explained to her that clouds were just water, but what could be better? Floating water rated pretty high on the girl’s scale of cool. Not only could you fly, but you could swim at the same time. Amaya couldn’t imagine anything better than sitting in a floating pool, basking in the warmth of the sun. Oh, how wonderful daydreams could be. As the small child drifted into the confines of her mind, her cheek slumped down onto her palm and her eyelids relaxed as a gentle glaze crossed over the shining black coloring of her iris. Normally, this would be when her brother learned to throw something at her or when the bell at the shop door would sound to let her know a customer had entered. No, instead she was the only one in the room with her seemingly silent sensei, he only really talked when it was lesson time and when someone asked him a question, so far. Then again, with his frantic entrance, the child couldn’t image that he was as quiet as she was envisioning. This would all come with time as she got to know him as a teacher and as a person. She didn’t think he had ever been into the shop, otherwise she would have recognized the dreads at the very least.

The sudden urge to give up overtook Yae. It would be so easy to head inside, read a book instead. She sat up. That's it. She ran enough already today. With a grunt she rose to her feet. As she headed back toward the academy the sun glared off of the windows. Yae caught a glimpse of her own reflection in the glass. She didn't like what she saw; she saw a quitter.
Yeah, I know. I have to finish. Yae did a u-turn, heading across the lawn and back toward the track. Her level of pain had once again subsided to a dull, throbbing ache that spanned her entire body. She forgot how many laps she was supposed to run, though she distinctly remembered taking a mental note that she had been one-third of the way done.

She tried to shake the unsteadiness of the last attempt and made the sign again, this time looking for the right way to mold her chakra. Now focusing, she concentrated on her inner self, closing her eyes and feeling the chakra inside her move around. There was a swish of movement as she felt the energy circulate around in her body, both the spiritual and physical energy melding together to form the power within her. It was working quite well this time, and she tried to memorize this pattern and method to make it work at her beck and call, instead of trying and failing. That was why they were practicing at the academy anyway. A ninja that couldn't grasp the method of ninjutsu always existed, but it was true that their paths were then mostly set in improving their taijutsu. Sakurayuki had always been interested in these legendary ninjas such as Maito Gai and Rock Lee, as depicted in the stories from the elders in the villages. However, she wasn't so confident in her taijutsu, unlike them or the Hyūgas with their Jūkenpō. She would of course practice enough to become proficient in it, but she wanted to work more in the other two major fields, or perhaps in the medical field. All this passed through Sakura's head, almost making her lose grasp of her successful molding session, but she took control once more, and experimented with it just a bit more before letting it go. Now she was officially half way through the lesson! Although she felt a little tired from the continuous practice, Yuki decided to press on until she really couldn't take it anymore. She could fully rest during lunchtime or such, but for now, she'd only rest when she felt too drained.

DC: 10 + chakra mod Cp: - 1 per post Formula: 1d20 + chakra mod chakra mod = 0Train: 5/10 8 = Fail Deciding to try again, Sakura tried another seal, the sign of the Ram. Focusing, she took hold of her chakra and tried changing the ebb and flow of the energy. However, it seemed that she had been doing a little too much daydreaming in the former practice session because her thoughts, no matter how hard she tried, kept coming back to clutter her mind. Keeping a hold of her chakra, Yuki tried to wipe her mind clean, but it wouldn't work that easily for her with her explosive imagination running wildly. It seemed to her that it didn't want to be contained, so letting go of the energy she had been trying to mold, Sakura held back a sigh and closed her eyes. The exercise was really tiring, but knowing it was essential, and with the added knowledge that most of the class were ahead of her already, she snapped her eyes open again and focused. She had a small amount of chakra left, so she decided to siphon it off and use if before resting. Perhaps after this last try she would go back to the classroom and try this with other people present. It would be better practice to do it wherever she could so that next time she really needed it, she would be ready to summon chakra whenever, wherever, and for whatever the purpose was.

Being who she was, Hoeru easily found herself distracted paying little attention to what was going on in class. Staring out the window she found her eyes following a butterfly. Only after a few long moments would she snap out of it and frown. She was falling behind again! It appeared everyone else had finished the hand seals during her little day dream. "Nyaaa...." Unwrapping her scroll containing the handseals she decided to get to work and attempt catching up to her fellow classmates. Gazing at the handseals she attempted to perform the first two, but in her rush to catch up she failed to see and execute certain details causing her to fail. Flailing her arms at her sides in a bit of frustration she stared intensively at the scroll once more.

A bit more focused this time, Hoeru paid close attention to the little details that made every hand seal unique. Some were a tad similar but there were always little changes that made a huge difference. Holding her hands in front of her, she would, little my little, entwine her hands and fingers together into the proper formation, or so she hoped. She hated having to do such training. Why couldnt she go out and do jutsus already? Bah, she couldn't do those without the stupid seals. So wither she liked it or not she was stuck performing handseals until she got them down. Fortunately this time around she actually did it. Satisfied with herself she moved onto the next ones.

Convinced that now everything was rainbow and butterflies Hoeru was desperate to get down with this boring part as soon as she could. Not bothering to give too much thought into what was in the scroll for the next set of handseals to perform she merely did what she thought she saw on the scroll. Didn't work as well as she would have thought. Don't ask how she did it, but she managed to twist her hands in such a way the young girl began to have a hard time figuring out if one hand was the left one or the right. Blowing up some air from her mouth in obvious frustration her concentration dwindled. Although she was indeed determined to get this over with, she lacked the needed concentration for such tasks. Her mind wondered easily, especially when she stayed in one place for too long. Surely if she were outside running it would be easier for the girl because her whole body would be busy doing something. However in this case it was just her hands. She was getting too fidgety and she had just started!

Yae had almost made it to the track. She was feeling pretty good now, pretty positive. The past few minutes had just been a slump. A slump she was out of now. Once again on the track she knelt down, one leg in front of the other, mimicking the way a track runner would. Slow and steady didn't work, so the solution was obvious: she would sprint the laps and simply get them out of the way.
The starting gun fired! Yae took off. Too bad she had never actually tried running like that. Her awkward attempt at mimicking a track star backfired, and the girl once again found herself face-down on the track. This time when she peeled herself from the dirt she found that her nose was bleeding.
"This sucks... so much," she whispered, her voice wavering as she was on the verge of tears. Yae really was ready to give up now, and she groveled back toward the academy.

Yae pushed her way past the classroom door, pinching her nose between a thumb and forefinger. There was a vivid red arc of blood running from below her nose, across the curve of her upper lip, and down one cheek. The student was already humiliated at her vast inability to perform even a simple training exercise, and she didn't wish to draw attention to herself. She quickly retreated to the back desk where she had stored both her syllabus scrolls. Taking the outdated scroll, she tore several strips of paper away, crumpled them up, and used them mop away the fresh blood on her face.

Once her face was relatively clean Yae tore off a fresh piece of her scroll, discarding the bloody scraps on her desk for the time being. With the new strip she pinched her nose between her thumb and forefinger again in an attempt to get the bleed to clot. She had lost a good amount of blood, nothing serious, but the whole ordeal was leaving the kunoichi feeling a tad lightheaded. She sat down at her desk, tilting her head back as she waited for the bleeding to stop. Once everything was under control she scooped up the mass of bloody paper on her desk in both hands and went across the room, disposing it into a trash bin. After that she returned to her desk, sitting and placing her forehead on the cool wood surface as the room spun around her.

This sure was hard to do. She was half-tempted to call it a day, but then remembered that she was already half-way done. It would be a waste to give up now and throw away all the hard work that she had gone through until now. Focusing again, she tried to summon the rest of her reserves and mold it, but it seemed that she wasn't able to concentrate properly. Sighing, she let go of the chakra yet again, feeling a whoosh as it was let go of. Sensing that her chakra reserves were dangerously low, she felt a little light-headed as she opened the door to her classroom and went back to the seat that she had taken before.
