Miyuki looked thoughtful, she knew Lancaeriel meant the humans of Arda. She didn't know much about them and only knew a bit about Emile.

"Does... this have to do with the humans' soul?" she questioned.

Lancaeriel shook her head. "Elves also have a soul. That is ... a very advanced topic, though if you'd like we can revisit it someday. And it is a thoughtful reply, that's good. And I have to admit, it was a difficult question. In truth, humans have no inherent magic that they can use, or that affects them. There are some that can learn to use it - I have known a few who became powerful magic users in their time. And others can use it on them. They are not resistant to it. Really, that's about all that there is for them."

She paused. There was more to add, of course, but she didn't want to overwhelm Miyuki all at once.

"Do you understand that?" she asked softly.

Miyuki thought about it, "So.... you mean the fact they can learn to use magic in itself is an example of magic in living beings?"

If that was the case, it made sense to her. She thought about what she was old a bit more as she played with a wayward tail that was wagging back and forth as she thought.

Lancaeriel nodded, smiling. "Yes. If they did not have magic occurring in them, they would not be able to use magic. Now the dwarfs on the other hand have absolutely no magic, and so no matter what they do, no matter how much they learn, they cannot and will never be able to use magic. In addition, certain magics will not work on them."

She paused, trying to think how to explain it so that it would make sense to Miyuki.

"Does it not work because there's no magic for the magic to interact with?" Miyuki questioned.

Though she supposed it depended on what type of magic wouldn't work on them. She probably should have asked that first. Her mind though, was stuck on what Lancaeriel had said earlier, saying that humans were not resistant to magic, that seemed like an important fact to know. It have never occurred to Miyuki that someone who didn't have inherent magic might be resistant to some forms, so the fact that Lancaeriel had to tell her that seemed important to her.

"To put it simply, yes," Lancaeriel agreed. "Think of it this way. A farmer wants a crop of wheat. He works the field, makes sure that it's good and soft, makes sure to water it every day ... and yet, if he doesn't plant a seed, the water won't do any good. I know it's not a very accurate image, but it's similar. No matter how much magic you pour into someone who has nothing for it to react to, there will simply be no reaction."

She brushed her pale hair behind her ears. "Likewise, though the magic doesn't affect them internally, it can affect them externally. No wheat seeds means no wheat, but the water will help any weeds to grow. External magics may still affect them."

She closed her eyes and lowered her head. "Let me think of an example ..."

Miyuki waited, as she did so, she noticed that the egg in the carrier was getting warm. Which was odd, she knew the carrier kept it cozy, but it shouldn't have been that warm. While her mentor was thinking, she took it out of the carrier and set it on the table.

As she did so, she was slowly getting the feeling that table was going away from her if only slightly.. Which was an even odder feeling than having the warm egg to her chest.

The egg shook from side to side as light engulfed it.

"Uh Lan-"

Before Miyuki could finish there was a bright light and where the egg once was, was an Eevee stood instead.

"Whoa!" Miyuki paused, started as she realized her voice was a bit lighter than before, "Whoa.... what?"

She tried to look over her shoulder to see if she just gained another tail, which she had but it was impossible to see or make out among the mass of tails.

Lancaeriel looked up when Miyuki began to call her name, and for the next several seconds she could only stare in shock and awe. She had been told what to expect for growths concerning Miyuki and Andarien, but she had never expected to see it in action, and despite her warnings she hadn't truly believed that it would happen so quickly and so visibly.

"By the Valar," she breathed at last, her lilac eyes bright with excitement and amazement. "Never have I seen such a thing as this ..."

A spurt of growth, an extra tail sprouting in a matter of seconds ...

And then there was the Eon-like creature, brown instead of silver, that was now on her desk.

Miyuki scratched the back of her head sheepishly. On one sense she was excited that her pet hatched but it was severely tempered by the fact she grew. She just out grew her clothing and well... it was a good thing she didn't have shoes on.

"Well.. this was unexpected...." Miyuki remembered though she still had a pet to deal with.

Looking to the Eevee on the table she held out a hand to it.

"Hi!" looking over at Lancaeriel she then added, "Maybe I should get changed..."

Her clothes down didn't fit her, which was a bit of a problem since they were wrap around clothing. If it weren't for the slip (which was also on the small side) she would have been exposed.

Lancaeriel put one hand to her lips to hold back her laughter, but the sparkle in her eyes betrayed her amusement.

"Yes," she murmured softly in agreement with Miyuki's statement. "I daresay that would be an excellent idea ... would you like me to come with you? Will you need help with anything? Or shall I stay here and wait for you?"

Or for that matter, would Miyuki even want to continue their lesson today?

The Eevee sniffed her hand and licked it before giving off a sort of 'pree' sound. It seemed quite happy with Miyuki, which was good because Miyuki wasn't quite sure what she should do. It was one thing to prepare for a pet (or familiar) to train, but it was another to have one.

One that she couldn't understand but she knew could understand her.

Picking it up, she cuddled the furry creature for a moment before nodding at Lancaeriel.

"I'd like that, just in case my limbs don't agree with me," she told Lancaeriel.

The last time she grew, she could ride in the cart, so she had a better time in adjusting. Now she had to walk back to her room and search for the other set of clothes she hope would fit her.

"Of course," Lancaeriel smiled, bowing her head slightly. She stepped closer to Miyuki, seemingly gliding across the floor gracefully. "Let me know if you need to lean on me."

She waited for Miyuki to lead the way. Sure, she knew where Miyuki's room was, but she wanted to let Miyuki set the pace so that she wouldn't go too fast for her.

Miyuki slowly walked back out of the library and in the direction of her room. She was pleased to discover her legs weren't at all wobbly, but the height difference made her a bit distorted.

She also found that part of that height was in her legs so while they weren't wobbly, they didn't feel quite right. At least once on the way back she had miscalculated her step and tripped, causing her to reach out to Lancaeriel a bit to gain her balance back.

Fortunately she had enough foresight to at least place the Eevee into the carrier so she would have both hands free to do make sure she didn't fall.

"It's a bit strange being this tall...."

She didn't know why in all her other growths she had grown, in height, in tails and in hair length. Miyuki realized she was really going to have to braid her hair after this.

Lancaeriel couldn't say that she had experienced such a growth spurt as that, but she could understand why Miyuki felt so unbalanced.

"You'll get used to it," she assured her. "It will just take some time."

"I hope so... it's going to make training harder."

She wasn't like her parents, it didn't come naturally to her so anything that made it harder for her to fight didn't please her. The idea of having to rework everything she had learned again certainly didn't please her.

She had hoped to show off her new found drive and maturity to Alessea when she came.

Finally making it to her room, Miyuki paused at her door.

"I'll be quick in changing," she told Lancaeriel, "Uncle Helen set aside some clothes he calculated would fit me on my next growth. He's not that off, so they should fit."
