"Well, that makes it both easier and harder at the same time. I know now that you don't like mushrooms so I can rule those out but that still leaves a lot of other choices.." Wolfwood commented, rubbing his chin with his free hand. "We'll look through what I have together and if you see anything that looks especially yummy to you, I'll think of something to make with it. Sound good?"

Menolly had not meant to make things harder on Wolfwood. She felt bad about it and hunted for a solution. If she just picked something, then it would make things easier, right? Umm...rice but she held back on asking. It might be as bad to ask for what he did not have then. "Sounds like a good plan to me." After responding, she let her mind rest for now, she was sure she would be able to think of something when she could see it.

Wolfwood smiled and gave Menolly an affectionate squeeze, walking on in silence for the rest of the trip to his house. When they reached it, he let go of the female pae and motioned her inside. Then he took her hand and led her to his kitchen, opening a couple cabinets and an icebox. "Well, there's everything."

Looking at the items offered, she thought about what was easier without much preparations need. "Strawberries." With nearly happy giggle, she called out the item that she wanted, instead of being more trouble, she reached for the red fruit, she was sure that she named the item correctly

"Is that all you want?" Wolfwood asked, turning from one of the cabinets to her. "Don't be shy to ask for more. I live here by myself so it isn't like I have to worry about having enough food for another pae."

Menolly thought about what else might be easy to make, looking at the ice box and back to the cabinet she responded, "I would also like a tuna stake, I could help with the cooking. I am a light eater, so not much is needed to fill me up" She volunteered not that much help would be needed, the recipe that she was thinking about only took about five-seconds on each side with butter and herbs.

"Oh, you can help if you like. I don't mind. Two cooks in the kitchen is just fine," he said, smiling at Menolly as he reached into the icebox and came back out with a white paper package. "I just have one fairly thick one. We can share it if that's alright with you?"

Menolly smiled brighter very happy to be able to help. Already her eyes scanned for items to use. When Wolfwood spoke, her eyes and attention was on him. Nodding her head she responded with her close to normal enthusiastic and happy tone, "I do not mind one little bit." Now she would try harder to make the tuna stake the best, she wished to please Wolfwood. He took such good care of her and was so nice to her, it would a good way in her mind to give something back.

Wolfwood smiled and unwrapped the tuna steak, setting it out on a platter to thaw a little. Then he turned to Menolly and started pointing things out. "Spice rack is right over there. Pots and pans are in this cabinet here. Cooking utensils are right there. If you need help finding something, just ask."

Menolly looked to everywhere he pointed to and noted the location and item. She leapt to gathering a frying pan, herbs, butter and a few other ingredients with enthusiasm. Though she was having fun, and trying her absolute best, she did slowly wilt in expression, to have her hands busy she could not constantly touch Wolfwood and without contact, her countenance could not help but start to fall slowly.

Wolfwood noticed the decline in Menolly's mood and moved to stand behind her, putting his hands on her shoulders and looking over the top of her head at what she was doing. "You wanted to help but it looks to me like you're doing all the work," he commented, smiling.

Menolly improved again the moment Wolfwood put his hand on her shoulder. She turned her golden eyes from her preparations and gazed up at Wolfwood, smiling and explained, "I do not know how to work the stove. I do, however, know how to mix together flavoring, thats where I felt I could help out the most." The actual cooking, she only knew the theory of how it worked.
She thought that by getting things ready, like the flavoring and setting a table would be helpful. How to exactly communicate that without insulting his offer by either doing everything or restating the extremely kind offer.

"No worries. I'll take care of that, if you don't mind," Wolfwood replied, understanding. He kept his hands on her shoudlers while she worked and when she was done, he did what he could to keep as close to her as possible while he took over. He reached for the frying pan she had grabbed and set in on the stove, turning on the flame and letting it heat the pan. Then he dumped a good-sized chunk of butter into it, using an oven mit to pick the skillet up by the handle and swirl it around so the butter completely coated the bottom. "Alright. Step back for a second Menolly. I don't want you to get splashed," he said, gently moving her behind him and then picking up the tuna steak which had been rubbed down with the herbs and carefully setting it into the pan, making sure to lay it away from himself. He stepped back a little, avoidng the little droplets of searing hot butter that splashed up despite his precautions and then looked over his shoulder at Menolly. "Maybe you should stay back there.."

Menolly watched what Wolfwood was doing and when he suggested she stand back more, she did without needing another word. Since she could not stay close enough to touch Woldwood, she instead busied herself setting the table with what she could grab without getting nearer to the spitting pan.
Reaching, she grabbed a plate and looked at another one, would they need two or just one? She had thought that form observing her parents when she was young, she knew everything about cooking. Seems she did not know as much as she thought she did.
Deciding that if another was needed, it would be easy enough to retrieve, Menolly just took the one plate and put two of the other items she believed might be needed down. Turning, she was paying attention to what Wolfwood was doing, the distraction of her pervious activities diminishing; however, she made herself stand where she had backed up before, the plate right within her hands for when he would need it.

Wolfwood watched the tuna steak carefully, waiting until the meat had turned white before he grabbed a pair of tongs and flipped it over. He moved back a half-step to avoid the splash it caused then turned to Menolly and smiled. "Almost done. We just have to wait for this side to cook. I hope you like it a little pink in the center," he said, looking a bit sheepish. He hadn't thought to ask before..
