Traps were dangerous even if they weren’t meant to be sometimes Ith knew this and was worried about the stupid idiot. He might think he could handle it but it would be scary if he couldn’t. She looked at him and her heart was in her eyes on the matter. Watching other’s die was unpleasant and she didn’t want it to happen to him. He looked at her and then turned his gaze away. She had no idea why and that annoyed her. She huffed and kept her eyes forward too. If he was gonna be like that she could do darn it!

Lightning managed not to grimace at her huff, but it didn't change the fact that he'd done something wrong. Had he been too forward? He just kept walking, giving himself time to figure out the right way to ask her what was wrong. Maybe it was just the original problem; her expression had definitely shown her worry, her fear. He wasn't sure how to respond to that.
He only came to a complete stop once, at a particularly suspicious area. He stepped in front of Ithil to keep her from walking into any hidden wires as he inspected the trees and ground around them. His eyes caught glimpses of steel and carved wood in the trees, and a few bits of wire were peeking out from their hiding places. "This way." He turned and led Ithil down a different path, staying silent for several more minutes before finally speaking. "... Sorry." Before she could ask why, he continued, "I'm worrying you a lot... aren't I?"

His change of direction was annoying she was working herself into a justified wrath over things like how stupid this forest was and the trickster who trapped the whole area up. She could see a few shiny wires in the light but she figured that Lightning must have seen more given the fact that he took her a different way. He was quite for so long that she was surprised when he finally did speak.
“Worrying me? I suppose you are but it’s my own fault for caring about you. It’s not like you can do anything about that.” She kept walking and didn’t really look at him. And just let her thoughts out as they came. “Still I know I shouldn’t worry so much since you can take care of yourself better than I can, but not all health is physical ya know? So I do worry about for other things and sometimes your physical health since you just blow off pain like you deserve it or something.”

"I could've made you hate me." Apparently just being himself made most Gladiers feel that way about him; a little effort and he was sure he could have almost anyone despising him. When Ithil admitted that he could take care of himself better than her, he looked at her. His expression darkened at the thought of his mental scars, but snapped back to reality at her last comment. "Blow it off like I deserve it, huh...?" His gaze grew distant as he faced forward again. "Sometimes I wonder if I do."
Silence returned as he walked in a half-daze, his feet automatically carrying him down a familiar, safe route. When he reached the edge of a clearing, however, he suddenly stopped. A small meadow of flowers was growing, taking advantage of the lack of trees. In the very center of the clearing was a large, polished stone marker with writing chiseled into it. As if spellbound, his paws carried him to the stone, everything else vanishing from his mind as he sat down in front of it and stared into its mirrored depths. He hadn't meant to come here, but now that he was... "Kazare..."

She listened to him. Could he have made her hate him? The fist answer that sprang to her mind was no, but then she thought about it a bit. There were ways that she could hate but just for being himself she didn’t think she would hate him. After all he was a stupid idiot but it wasn’t like he just went around hurting others or anything like that. She was worried about him when he said that he might deserve such pain. What could have possibly happened to make him think something like that?
She followed him thinking and wondering when she was suddenly confronted with a beautiful sight. There was a clearing full of fragment beautiful flowers. She smiled looking at them and only noticed the large standing rock when Lightning pawn stared to walk to it. She followed him and heard him mumble Kazare. It sounded like a name. She had no idea what it meant though. Was this a friend of Lightning’s or something more? A brother, sister, father, mother, lover? She was clueless it only made her remember the friend she lost in the past. A lump formed in her throat and she sat down with her own memories leaving Pawn’s to his.

Lightning Pawn just stared into the stone as his mind replayed those horrible memories. The image of Kazare collapsing and slowly slipping away haunted him. The feelings of helplessness as he was attacked when he ran for help, the agony and rage from being too late to help boiling in his veins. It felt like someone had reopened all of his heart's wounds, despair consuming him.
Then, all at once, his surroundings returned to him. His gaze went to the Gladier next to him, who seemed to be lost in her own, troubling thoughts. He leaned over, lightly pressed his head against her neck, and went still. He closed his eyes, breathing in slowly and feeling surprising relief at the smell of Ithil's unfamiliar scent. He didn't say a word, and he was mentally bracing himself for the female's retreat and scolding, but this was the only way he knew how to communicate this turbulent feelings he had. After Kazare's death, he didn't really have anyone to express himself to--especially not these vulnerable emotions. Ithil was all he had...

(ok your post made me cry… also *smacks gaia for not posting this guild up on the page it should in guilds. I keep missing this. *sigh* at least I check every so often *like a paranoid person*)
She didn’t move when Lightning placed his head on her neck. In fact she didn’t even feel it at first. Slowly the pressure brought her out of her memories and she blinked a few times before she realized what the male was doing. It should have bothered her. It should have made her snap but after everything she was tired and didn’t feel like snapping at the pawn of storms. She knew it would only make her feel guilty afterwards. Sighing she tilted her head a bit so it rested on his. He was probably remembering the one he lost and just as tired out emotionally as she was. She didn’t know if he needed the simple bit of contact with another living soul, but right now she did. “This sucks.” The first words out of her mouth surprised herself. She decided to correct the statement before idiot could misunderstand. “Loosing someone. It sucks.” Then without anything else she wanted to say at the moment she just sat there with Lighting Pawn. It was strange but she felt a bit more at ease now then she did a while ago, and certainly more at ease with him then when they had first met.

Lightning Pawn his body involuntarily relaxing when she returned the gesture. Why did such a small gesture give him so much... relief? He opened his eyes at her words, listening in silence until she was finished. "... It hurts," he replied quietly, his voice anything but the confident, almost arrogant tone he'd had when they first met. That part of his mind scoffed at how vulnerable he was making himself with how open he was with Ithil. But the words poured out and refused to be kept in any longer. "Like someone ripped out a piece of your soul..." He let his eyes slide closed again. "...and there's nothing to fill the hole that's left."
(( 20 emotional points for Gryffindor! Ahem. Anywho. Yeah... I tied him to my ghosts. > .> So his past is kinda angsty. At least this part. ))

She knew that pain. It was like when her friend had left her and then later when Ithil had found out that her friend had died. Twice Ithil was left behind and had felt the emptiness that Lightning talked about. “yes. It sucks.” It seemed she wasn’t as eloquent at the pawn of storms on this matter. Still she did have hope which was more than she could tell about idiot. “But your still here and there are other’s who’s hearts you’re in so you can’t go or you’d leave holes in their hearts and then suckiness would grow.” She didn’t know it helped or hurt to say that. It was the truth though. There was always someone else who cared even if they or you didn’t know it.
(*stare* you too? Ithil is tied to Harvest who was hit by a car on the 'gaia' side of the starchaser world. *my ghost* )

"... Others..." Yes, there were others. Ace, Zulani, Raiden. They had cared about him. But... "There are... only three others besides you," he began explaining. His heart groaned at the thought of bringing up the "others" in his life. "One... travels with the storms. I haven't been able to meet with him in a long time. The second and I... cannot handle each others' presence for very long. The third..." He faltered for a moment, his mind screaming at him to stop unearthing such painful memories and presences. "... she's terrified of me," he finally finished, his voice growing softer with each word.
(( Lightning Pawn (as well as Ace and Zulani) was raised by Nataku and Kazare after his mother abandoned him. Well actually, she tried to drown him. But that's another story. ANYWAY. Yeah... Nataku, in protecting Ace, died after being pushed off of a cliff by Ace's attackers, and Kazare died more-or-less via twin link. Thus the reason that Lightning gets so freaked out when people collapse. ))

“Well the traveler you can meet and won’t it be lovely to see him again? The second’s a pain in the tail that you can deal with every so often and smack a few times when they get annoying, as for miss scared leave her a gift or something and give her some space. She’ll get over it or she won’t. As for me. You’re stuck with me deal with it.” Her words would have been more scathing if she had any bite to her tone, but it was all soft and calm. Geeze the pawn of storms life was full of suck. At least he had others though. With her friend gone she was alone. Completely and utterly alone. Well besides this idiot.
(oh poor Pawn *wants to cuddle him*… also I love how Ithil is still referring to him as the idiot in her mind. OTL )

Lightning smiled ever so slightly. "I can only meet him again if I'm reckless," he replied. It evaporated, however, as he continued. "The second... is like me. The third... what you've suggested has already been done." The Gladier paused. "As for you..." He lightly nuzzled head against Ithil's neck. "I'm glad," he mumbled softly into her fur. There had been other besides the three mentioned, but they had been such temporary friends they hadn't even been worth mentioning. But Ithil... Ithil had practically promised she wasn't leaving. It was one of the most relieving things he'd ever been told. He finally had a friend who was as permanent as the ground beneath his feet.
(( Yeah... Pawn needs some cuddles. And yes, I love Ithil's mental portrayal of him too. XD They are such a sad but funny couple. ))

“Well there’s reckless and then theirs stupid reckless. I’m sure we could come up with a solution to meet him that’s safer. Like build a shelter in a storm zone and see him when it storms. The second is a pain in the tail who I’ll glue to a tree, and the last I can chew out for being silly, or just drag her too you to talk.” She was blushing at him nuzzling her. “Stupid.” Why did he sound so relieved? She was going to stick around him and drive him nuts forever. Still he wasn’t too bad to be around as long as he wasn’t landing on her tail and everything. She let him nuzzle for a while longer before she raised a paw and batted at his arm. “nuff of that now.” She was only gonna let him do this little pity cuddle for so long. “We need to find some food and a good place to nap. Both of us have been wrung though a mess and you’ve been coated in it so let’s just find a nice spot to relax and unwind a bit. Then we can see about you meeting reckless since that’s the first on the to do list.”
(Well she likes him but isn't just gonna gush. She's kind of odd that way. She likes to cuddle but won't admit it and she is weird about some things like mudd. She doesn't mind it but wants others to be clean. )

"I wonder if that would work? Rai's kind of hard to find..." Lightning made a face at her comment towards the second. "Don't do that! Ace isn't a pain. ... At least to me. It's just... hard for us to talk." His voice dropped. "And Zu... she's got a pretty good reason for being scared of me. I don't want to make her more upset." He didn't know why, but Ithil calling him stupid just made him smile. He obediently pulled away when she lightly batted his arm, smiling sheepishly at her. He nodded to her suggestion and slowly got to his feet. "Right..." He smiled slightly. "Though Raiden's probably long gone by now. I thought I saw him during the peak of the storm." Lightning looked around, trying to think of good eating and resting places. "... There are some fruit trees over this way," he said, gesturing with his paw. "... The tree I stay at a lot is near there too."
(( I think Lightning's sort of realized that. XD Or is at least in the process of it. ))

“It’ll work if we make it work.” She nodded her head like it was the final answer on that matter. Even if she had to build a million shelters she would make it work. She stuck her tongue out to his comment about Ace. “Then I’ll sit and translate so you two can talk if that’s what’s needed.” Though her translating might not be such a good idea she figured the thought of it might make the pawn of storms smile. “As for Zu well then we’ll just give her time and a bit of space.” Following him she rolled over the name Raiden in her mind. It sounded like a strange kind of rock to her. “Well I’m sure we can find him again or we can mark this location as a spot where he’s been and see if he comes back during a latter storm.” She nodded. “well then that seems like a good place to relax.” She was silently drooling over the idea of fruit but she didn’t want stupid to know that.
