"Apologies," said Magnus as he sat down at the table across from her. "Had to take a quick restroom break."

Magnus poured some sugar in his coffee as well. "So why did you come to the DWMA?" He asked her, hoping to start a conversation.

"Really?" Asked Magnus, interested. "May I ask who?"

"In that case," said Magnus with a friendly smile as he took another sip of his coffee. "Forgive me for asking." He placed his coffee down, waiting for it to cool off some more. She's not very talkative thought Magnus. Maybe she doesn't like me... He thought back to the text message his parents had sent him and how the room had suddenly gone cold when Rosie had asked about it. I'm between a rock and a hard place. Neither of them will understand.

"Oh, no not at all," Said Magnus when Rosie asked if it was about her personal issue. "I'd never ask you to reveal something you weren't ready to tell me." He listened to her question.

"A-a potential wife?" He asked. "I don't know....I mean I don't know that many people here yet." He sighed. "But to be truthful, it probably won't matter who I want. My parents will arrange a marriage based on strengthening the family. It may not even be to someone I know." His tone became sadder without him realizing it.

Magnus shook his head sadly. "It's not that simple," he said. He leaned back in his chair. "In my case, I actually do know who I'm getting married to. Lacie Pimbleton." He ran his hand through his hair, even the name upset him. "The Pimbleton family...." He looked at her. "Listen, if my parents ever found out I told you this they'll kill me, so I need you to keep it a secret." He took a deep breath. "My family borrowed a lot of money from the Pimbleton family. But they couldn't pay it back. Instead....they promised to combine our families and fortunes by marrying me to Lacie once we were both old enough. Once I graduate from this academy."

He sighed again. "Don't get me wrong, Lacie is beautiful, but I can't stand her. She's manipulative, controlling, cruel....she'll do well in the upper-class world I know. If we combined our families we'd be extremely powerful but...." He looked at Rosie. "Remember when I said love doesn't exist for people like me? That's why. Because I don't have a choice. If I don't, my parents won't be able to pay off their debt. We'd be ruined. We'd lose everything."

Magnus laughed a little. "Yeah, I always thought the name was kind of silly too." He turned serious again. "I don't know if your father will be able to do anything though. The Pimbleton family is one of the most powerful out there....and the most ruthless. They don't exactly forgive debts or take kindly to other people interfering in their business.
