Silas shook his head slightly and began dealing the cards. "We will have to determine what I get when I win as we play." He said calmly to maintain his smile. It was a simple game known as blackjack. They would play until all the cards in the deck had been used and then if they wanted, they would play again. "So try again, what do I get?"

Nora ignored him as she leaned against the table. The dealer sat before them handing them their cards. Silas did this all day, everyday, this was like blacksmithing was to Nora, he was an expert, she wanted to win, and hoped she would, but she knew the odds were highly stacked against her.

Silas noted Nora's silence. It bothered him slightly. He took a sip of the new wine that had been brought to him and looked over his cards. He had eighteen right now and had yet to begin counting cards so he chose to stay at eighteen. He looked across the table to Nora and said "If we don't set stakes why should we play?"

"So you think of something, I'm not choosing for you." Nora knew her silenced bothered him, she could see it in his face as she took another sup of the drink she stole from him.
