It was all mass confusion. Isifo could hear foreign shouts over his hears. There were people laying on the ground, pretending to be dead. Next to him, a healer rushed in, muttering something and the bone-faced lion had to sidestep quickly out of the way to avoid the cluster.
Around him, his companions were faring far better. Their team was doing well, felling one after another and they had managed to counter the uncoming ambush. No use to him, of course, as he was still trying to put together each piece. He'd been ready to charge on several instances, but found another had done the job before his feet had left the sand.
Now, he had a strong shot of Tarsa. He saw the large, bulky male move forwards. He could not have planned it better. Isifo planted his feet, wiggling them deep in the sand, and let out a low growl. The hopes and dreams that he had were rapidly destroyed. Tarsa tore through him as though he were a pile of sand. Isifo was left, head spinning and shoulder-throbbing, in a heap just off to the side of Tarsa's footprints.
He wheezed and air once again flooded into his stomach. Tarsa was a lot more powerful than he looked!

And just like that, there was Tarsa, charging and raging... Soleil found herself balking, being that he was a close relative - Half-brother of her own mother, making him an uncle. Why did confronting relatives make her balk so? She scowled at herself, then watched as Hewa, her great-aunt, did her best. The blood-red lioness suddenly felt a personal shame for not having done anything. So instead of moping, she decided to sit on Tarsa.
Keahilani snorted to himself, watching his sister, then looked to their great-aunt. "You did a great job." He looked around at everyone. "I think everyone did a great job." Even those who simply tried. His attention then turned to Soleil. "It seems we both lost our own bet, sister... Let's settle for just cleaning out each other's dens."
"Deal."

Hraga caught his breath as the dust settled. The attack was over...at least for the moment. Of the four attackers, three had been felled to the ground. Roho...where had she gone? His head jerked around, jade eyes searching for the volatile Hongshan. But it seemed Roho had taken Tarsa's barreling as a convient distraction to escape. She was no where to be seen... but Hraga doubted that'd be the last they'd see of her.
With a slight cough, he looked over the forces. They'd lost a few people, but other than that seemed fine. A few of the lions Tarsa had rammed into were still dusting themselves off. Hraga gave a low growl, and shot a look at the 'dead' Tarsa. "You didn't have to barrel through like that." He wouldn't go as far to suggest that he shouldn't have tried to hurt anyone... but this was a game. Reckless charges like that could have done actual damage.
"Hmph," Tarsa muttered, standing back up and shoving Soleil off of him with a growl. "Whatever. It isn't like you're going to get much farther."
Hraga rolled his eyes. "From where I'm standing, it looks like we're the ones winning."
"Yeah, but that's only because-" Tarsa started, before a very bitter looking Ea slammed him across the nose. The big lion made a squeak of pain.
"What part of, IF YOU ARE TAGGED OUT YOU ARE DEAD, do you not understand?" Ea growled.
Deciding to leave Tarsa to his sister's lecturing, Hraga moved to check on Saharan and Isifo. They seemed alright, all things considered. "You two alright?" he asked. "That was a hell of a move, Hewa."
He gave the group a few more moments to recoup, before bringing up the subject of pressing onwards. "Roho got away, so it's likely Azar will know our location. Any ideas?"

Soleil gave Tarsa a snort, swatting at him rather harmlessley. "That's right, you're dead, Tarsa, go join the pile!" She then turned her attention to Hraga, eyes dancing. There were still more...? She felt giddy! "Then let's get moving, we don't wanna be caught here, do we?!" She looked around, before pointing in a seemingly random direction. "We should go where we have a high vantage point!"
He watched Ea more or less beat up on Tarsa with a look of amusement, then reached out and grabbed Soleil's tail before she could run off ahead of the group on her own. "We should wait for Hraga's word before charging ahead, Soleil." He ignored the scathing glare she gave him.
Hurrying over to the group, Singh started checking Saharan and Isifo over. "Are you two alright? Any bruises or scrapes?" He glanced at Tarsa, personally amazed. "What is he, part rhinoceros?" The way he'd barreled through everybody... Singh was VERY glad he was a medic now, not an actual combatant. He'd likely have been knocked out by that charge if he'd been in the middle of the group.
The white lion then turned his attention over to Ea. "I think I'm glad he got tagged out like that, there'd be more 'casualties' if Tarsa continued charging!" He shot an approving glace at Hewa.

Out, already? Yayuka might have said he was very displeased with the results of his own attack. But he was dead, and dead lions didn't talk. He looked up at the female that had taken him out, then just shrugged and stayed still. He should have been able to regain balance afterwards, rather than just stumble like an idiot... stupid paw. Because he could totally blame it on his still-sort-of-injured paw, and not his complete lack of grace.
Ugh! Kalama had managed to get a little action, taking down Elcca, but since then it seemed ike she was, once more, stuck watching other lions get all the glory. Hmph, she hoped there would be more Nergui than this!
... And that they didn't all charge like Tarsa. She had to admit, she was glad she hadn't end up caught by that.
Sjari had actually been in Tarsa's line of fire, but he knew better than to try and fight the big male. He was still a little underweight, and couldn't hope to do any good there! all that was left for the black male was to get out of the way, and save himself for a battle he actually had a chance in.

"Thanks, Hraga, Keahilani," she acknowledged with a nod. Niwasha'Hewa had so damn many nieces and nephews and beyond that if asked, she would have professed to have lost track, but it wasn't true. She actively tried to keep up with who was who, even if they tended to breed like rabbits and make it harder.
She more or less ignored Tarsa once he was 'dead,' even when he got up and ran his mouth. She was done with him.
"That was pretty cool," Nisi agreed, somewhat grudgingly. She had just been completely and totally upstaged, and it was kind of aggravating, as intent as she'd been on impressing her aunt.
The older of the pair snorted. "Yeah, yeah, I know."
"High ground would be better, if we can get to some." Hewa nodded at Soleil.

"High ground sounds like a good idea," Hraga said. His eyes turned upwards at the rocks. Some parts were steep, but it would not be impossible to scale. There would be little room to move though, and they'd have to be cautious about their footing. "Lets at least get to the top of this ridge. I'm not sure if we can continue all the way to Azar through these rocks, but it'll be worth it to get out of these narrow passages."
The black lion strode forward, looking for a good spot to hoist himself up to the next level. A few claw marks could be seen on the stones just in front of them. Had Roho used them to escape? Or was it the markings of some other lion? Hraga lowered himself down, and then bounded up, clearing the short jump onto the incline of stone. "Watch your footing everyone. If anyone can't climb, it might be best to hold your position or continue on ahead in the passage."
At least it didn't look like they had any cubs with them. The jump wasn't that high, maybe a good five feet. "Keep an eye out for anyone down below. Its possible Roho is still hiding out somewhere, and whoever else Azar left for us to uncover."
He had to think though that Tarsa would have rallied everyone down the narrow path. But maybe... if he hadn't they'd certainly spot them from above!

Still feeling smug, Niwasha'Hewa decided to take 'watch your footing' as a challenge to climb up as fast as she could. She made one little slip, but fortunately for her dignity, recovered from it and continued on, making the jump close behind Hraga.
Ha! That was easy! At least, according to the cocky look on her face. In actuality, she'd come a little too close to biting it for her own comfort, but she was just going to gloss over that.
After watching her aunt rush the incline, Nisi looked down at the cracked pad of one of her forepaws and shook her head. "Yeah, that's not happening," she muttered under her breath, and turned away from the climb with a reluctant sigh. "I'll just...go see what's down this way."
