Umi went home and noticed that the place was quiet and empty. That made him glad. Because he wouldn’t have to deal with his parents. But where was Gab? He should be home by now. But Umi didn’t have time to think about that. He ran up to pick his clothes and shower. But as he did so, worry for Gabriel was rising in his spirit. He had told the male to walk home, and that he would only that him to school in the mornings. Had he forgotten? Was he waiting at the school? Was he lost?” He got out of the shower, no unable to ignore Gabriel’s missing appearance. He dressed quickly and did his hair before grabbing his things. He was going to go look for Gab before he went on his date, which was cutting it pretty clothes.

Finally Gabriel made his way back down the streets to his and Umi's house, having enough swinging for good while. He hummed a little piano melody that he remembered from a long time ago as he walked without a care in the world. He held his hands in his pockets, strolling along the edge of the road, being careful not to end up walking into the street and get hit by a car.

Umi was diving kind of fast in his car, trying to get to the school. But after a couple of moments, he realized Gab could be walking home. He slowed down and went to the school, but Gab wasn’t there. Where else would he be? Why didn’t he have Gab’s number? Did Gab have a cell phone? He groaned as he headed back towards the house. He drove back home, not running into Gab at all. He was about to freak until he saw the male walking up to the front door of the house. “Gab!” He yelled out his window as he parked his car and rushed to get out. “Where have you been? I’ve been worried sick!” He said as he walked over to him, leaving his car door open in the process.

Gabriel turned around, hearing a voice behind him as he strolled up to the door of the home. "Oh, hello Umi. I've been at the playground. Didn't you have to go somewhere today? I thought you had already gone." The boy asked calmly. as if it really weren't a big deal that he took so long coming back.

Umi almost blew a gasket. “The playground?” he asked, throwing his hands up. “I came home and you weren’t here.” He said, his voice louder than normal. “I didn’t know why you weren’t home yet and you had me worried.” He said, grabbing his shoulder and shaking him a bit. “You could have been kidnapped or something.” He said, sighing for a moment before he hung his hand, his hands still on Gab’s shoulders. “You scared me…” He said, sounding a bit defeated.

Gabriel blinked, then laughed lightly as if this wasn't that big of a deal. "Sorry about that, I guess I just lost track of time. The shaking scrambled his calm mind for a moment but he seemed to shake off the initial shock of the moment. "I'm good about getting back just not always in a timely manner. So it's okay if I'm still not home, you can get going to your date now. Thanks for worrying though, but there's no need." He answered in a relaxed tone, the polar opposite of how Umi was sounding and feeling.

Umi frowned at him. He was laughing? Did he not care that he had scared mi to death? He glared at him for a moment. He was making fun of him… He slightly pushed Gabriel as he pulled back, his hands falling to his side, the angry look still on his face. “Fine.” He said, the anger deep in his voice. He turned around, not looking back before he got back into his car and peeled away quickly, rushing to get to his date.

Gabriel blinked, looking at the angered Umi who then pushed him into the door. The boy winced, and watched with sadness as the man as he turned away with an anger filled look in his eye and left for his car. Gabriel wanted to say something else but he had already left, leaving the boy standing there confused, sad looking, and full of guilt. He then sighed and turned to go back inside, leaving the door unlocked by accident. The boy slouched, looking tired from the fight he had during lunch, his back was still sore and his head ached. Gabriel laid down on the bed, figuring he might as well take a little nap.

Umi left in a huff, made that his brother didn’t show any consideration. His ‘whatever’ and relaxed attitude was making him angry and hard to spend time around the boy. But Umi couldn’t stay mad right now. He had a date to go on. He plastered on a fake smile and picked his date up from the host club parking lot. “Hey Johnny. Ready to go?” He asked with a smile as a meek male got into the car. “Y-yes.” He stuttered. Umi smiled and tilted the male’s chin up, kissing him. “Let’s go then.” He said, happily playing along. Mean while, Mom and dad returned home. “Umi? Gabriel?” Mother called.

Gabriel woke to the sound of a woman's coming from the foyer of the home downstairs. He sat up and rubbed his eyes, "Hello?" He called back as he stood on his own two feet and wandered over to the staircase, descending a few steps to peer down into the room below. "Hello mother." He smiled a little, but still held a pretty blank expression on his face, though different for her than for Umi.

Mom and Dad

Mother heard a voice and put on her best smile. But it was all fake. She had forgotten how to truly smile years ago. Maybe this was why Umi hardly smiled… because his whole family was fake and he didn’t want to be fake too. She looked up the stairs to see Gab. She sighed a little bit, holding her arms out. “Hello Gabriel my son. Come give mommy a hug.” She said, acting like he had been a son forever. Father walked in with a smile of his own. “Hello family.” The deep voiced man said.

Gabriel looked stunned for a moment, he couldn't put his finger on why, but these people seemed to be forcing one of those perfect family dynamics like on the television when he got to see some shows like that. He slowly descended the stairs and came down to stand in front of her and the man that was now his father. "Hello. Is there something bothering the two of you?" He tilted his head and asked with a child-like curiosity.

Mom and Dad

Mother smiled and wrapped her arms around him, hugging him. “It’s very nice to see you again.” She said, seeing how they had first met in the orphanage. She pulled back and smiled, one of those fake smiles, as father put a hand on Gab’s shoulder. Mother and father looked at each other confused for a moment before they both shook their heads. “We are perfectly fine.” Father said. He dropped his hand and mother directed them all to the kitchen. “So how do you like it here? Is Umi playing nice?” Mother asked.

"Yes, Umi is a nice guy." Gabriel smiled a little, but his expression for the most part stayed were it was, nice and blank like a porcelain doll. He was contemplating the meaning of why these two people seemed to false in their demeanor. "It is a very nice place, thank you so much for allowing me to live here with you."

Mom and Dad

His new parents didn’t even mind Gab’s lifeless face. Not like Umi cared. It annoyed the brother. But it didn’t seem like Gabriel was going to change anytime soon. Mother started to move around the kitchen, getting them drinks. “Of course!” He said. “You are perfect and when we met you, we knew you were the right one.” She said with a happy voice. Father took a seat at the counter, patting the seat for Gab to join them. “How about we order food in?” He suggested.

Umi was happily on his date. Happily missing the fake family time with mother and father. He didn’t care time all too much. He was at the movies with his date, planning on going back to his date’s place afterwards for some fun.
