Slowing to a halt, Raven would find himself leaning down onto one knee, his gloved right hand trailing over the grass and a single flower. This was certainly strange indeed. At first the forest had felt off, and now seeing a place with such natural beauty it actually appeared even more bizarre. Truly this place was an enigma. A mystery wrapped in a questioned and hidden in a taco.

Rising slowly, Raven's gaze shifted, focusing on the sight of that bladed tail. The position of the creature alone made it glaringly obvious the home was not it's own. Even if such a thing had started out natural such a creature was more then capable of whittling the wood away to make nest large enough for itself.

One hand on his blade, Raven narrowed his eyes. What was the best way to handle this? A surprise attack? An open challenge? Attack or simple intimidation?

No, a surprise attack was the cowards way, at least in this situation...the rest...he wasn't certain. Perhaps it was simply best if he discovered what he was dealing with first. Sometimes it took the greatest strength simply not to rush into battle.

Removing one glove the boy would bring two fingers to his mouth, producing a long sharp whistle oddly similar to the cry of certain bird-pokemon. A skill he'd learned in his youth in the years before...things better left in memory alone.

It was a challenge of sorts. An announcement of his presence. Either the serpent would come out, or he was going in....figuratively speaking.

Though Raven might have been expecting the creature to try and back out of the hole the way it had come ...the Togepi knew better as it jumped backwards swiftly. The ground exploding at his feet as the pokemon's head appeared above the ground with a hiss as that long tongue would flicker in and out of his mouth.

He gave them a look that only could be called death ....as the snake would coil out of the ground, length by length, until it was clear as the tail finally disappeared why the little Togepi hadn't decided to try and stand and fight. A Seviper normally stands at about 8' 10 and weight something like 115.7lbs. This one was about 10' 11 and weight easily 190lbs for the weight. It was heads and tails larger than it's normal kin ...as the scar that ran over it's left eye was obvious marks that were recently made. Sore and red, those same claw marks could be found along the length of it's side ...this pokemon had recently been in a fight, and from those scars it was hard to tell if it had won or lost.

Either way, it had been hurt, and that might have been why it had come here. But there was no pain in it's movements then....as it hisses at Raven ....an obvious call to battle.

Raven wouldn't even flinch as the Seviper burst from the ground, simply taking a step back to place a little more distance between the two of them. It was big, bigger then most, and clearly a fighter to boot. A Pokemon such as this would have normally have made the child's list. It had a great deal of potential behind it...that was obvious as far as he was concerned; but this creature bore a single fault he could not overlook. It was a bully.

He hadn't understood the Togepi's words earlier, but what lay before him painted a pretty clear picture for itself. The Seviper had stolen the Pokemon's home; either out of open malice, or because it's own had been taken from it by an even stronger Pokemon.

Oh how he wish Requiem hadn't met his fate...this would have been perfect training for the Zorua; but as they were, he could clearly tell neither he nor Crowe were up for the task. This Seviper was out of their league...so he'd show it something out of it's own.

The Seviper was large for it's kind, likely not easily intimidated...but how would it deal with something even larger?

Placing his right hand on his belt, the boy would grasp the second ball upon his belt. He'd try scaring it off first...if that didn't work...well, this creature had another foreseeable use. At such a large size, it's skin could easily be fashioned into a scabbard for his new blade.

"Genn, take the field!" Raven called as he tossed the ball high into the air.

The earth would shudder and shake as the massive weight of Genn struck the ground, the Steelix's metallic hide shinning brightly in the sun. The air would vibrate with the Steel-Type's bellowing roar, a smile dancing in his eyes as he looked at his would be opponent.

Looking from the end of the Seviper's own tail to his own, the Steelix would emit a low rumbling chuckle ">Mine's bigger.<"

Bio: Raven met with this Onix while making his way through Clockwork Cavern. An Area Guardian, his charge was evidently a Magnemite the boy had recently passed. Believing Raven a threat, the Onix attacked immediately. Raven seeing qualities he liked in the Pokemon, and after suffering some minor damage while battling against Fable, the Onix was quickly captured. An act he made no move to fight against. Quick to make his decisions, Genn rarely listens to Raven in battle, having chosen his next action before the child even has a moment to speak.

(Humph, it's not the size that matters ...it's how you use it.)

The Seviper's tongue hisses between his mouth as he glares at his opponent. Yes, his was bigger, but that didn't mean that he was going to back down ...he had lost one fight for territory, and there was no way he would lose another. As he would flick his tongue only once before he would dive into the ground ...his head and body vanished underground as it become quite clear that he had no attention of giving a direct attack.

Instead, the long snake would actually dive down as deep as he could get as he goes to use Dig against the steel snake.

"Genn used Screech!" Raven commanded. Dig was a tricky attack, more so when his own Steelix lacked the ability to use such a thing offensively. Still, being under ground wouldn't cut off the serpents ability to hear; given how snakes navigated, being underground during a thing might just make it even worse.

">Use a toothpick against a halberd and it doesn't matter how you use it, the results will be the same<" Genn rumbled, thumping his tail against the ground as he mulled over Raven's command. Screech? That wasn't terribly interesting...

Bah, might as well. Maybe the boy knew something he didn't.

Shifting his mass across the ground the Steelix would travel forward, tilting his body until his face was 2 feet directly above the Seviper's hole. Inhaling sharply, Genn would loose a high pitched metallic roar, one which grew higher and higher with every passing second. Anything caught directly in such a sound was likely to end up with their ears bleeding...assuming they had ears anyway.

(-2 to defense)

The Seviper heard that loud noise as he was forced to come back up from underground with his head ringing over and over. The earth itself had simply amplified the sound instead of turning it into nothing as he popped back above the ground shaking his head over and over ....as the Seviper tries to drop the attack from his head and start the ringing.

He would finally shake it loose before he would leap high into the air and then crash back into the ground again as he started to turn his back so that he was once more digging deeply into the ground. He would get far beyond that sound this time ...as he used Dig.

((We had the same SPD. Thus that wasn't a counter, thus it's your attack.))

((Also shouldn't that be -2 DEF?))

Raven narrowed his eyes. A coward. This Pokemon was truly a despicable coward. Bully's were always cowards. First the venomous reptile stole the home of another simply because he'd been too weak to defend his own, and now he relied on sneak attacks from down below to battle. Truly a loathsome creature.

"Genn make the earth shake however you can!" Raven ordered with an abrupt shout. He didn't know Earthquake, Fissure, or Magnitude...it was common knowledge such attacks were remarkably powerful against one using Dig...but regardless the serpent was still underground, and it's ilk were sensitive to vibrations in the earth.

Lifting his head high, Genn would once more bellow, his voice echoing across the trees; instead of growing in pitch this time however, the noise would be abruptly cut off as the Steelix ceased all resistance against gravities pull.

Striking the ground with his full weight, the Steelix would cause the forest floor to shudder and shake; a deep imprint forming beneath his girth. Once that was done, the massive Steel-Type began swinging his tail back and forth like a pendulum, striking the ground on either side of him repeatedly.

Though he was fast ...very fast ...as he went as deep as possible into the ground. The tremors of the earthquake wouldn't reach him ...as deep as he dug, and as he felt them subside above him he would start to make his way back upwards.

He was going to crack that pokemon's steely hide in two ...as he wiggles his way back towards the surface as swiftly as possible.

Speed would only save the Seviper from the tremors of the Steelix, not the metallic behemoths full force. He had to surface some time, and when that time came he'd be left out and in the open. An attack like Dig would only be of so much use against a Pokemon whom naturally dwelt underground.

Tail continuing to slam against the ground, Genn would begin to shift back and forth, eyes darting here and there as he anticipated the Seviper's return to the surface.

Reared back, mouth shut tight, there was only one attack on the Steelix's mind. As soon as the serpent appeared, he'd Tackle it with his full weight!

(20 - 3 + 14 - 27 = 4
(9 - 7 + 14 - 27 = -11 = -7dmg)

The snake would hit ...but even as it's body connected it would find something quite menacing at work. The Steelix's natural defense would deflect his attack as he lands heavily on the ground and hissed open mouthly. Those tremors had only managed to mask his own exit as he looked at his opponent and started to realize something ...he couldn't win.

No matter what he did, or how hard he fought ..this wasn't a battle he could win.

Though somehow, this didn't make him made ...it pissed him off. Twice, he had found opponents that were unmovable to his attacks ...that could counter or hit back just as well. He hated this, and he was going to make them pay for making him seem so weak as ...he hissed lightly and flinched abit with the pain of hitting steel with his head.

Not fun, but he wasn't going to back down easily as he twist on his own tail and hunkers down in defense before jumping backwards into the hole he had already dug. He had made a mistake ...he had attacked too soon, but the serpent hisses as he would try it again. Digging deeper ...deep ..he would use dig again and this time he would break though that pokemon's defense..

((Now I'm confused and feel we'll need to better explain the mechanics of Dig in the future.))

"Genn don't allow him to retreat!" Raven would command sharply, a nondescript order, but perhaps that was the best type. It allowed the Steelix to know what he wanted, and prevented the enemy from knowing precisely how he was going to do it.

Producing a faint rumbling chuckle, Genn would swing his tail around at Raven's command. Arching it back for a moment, he'd plunge the limb into the hole, the pointed tip spinning rapidly like a drill as it chased after the Seviper.

The Steelix's plan was quite simple really. He intended to rip the Seviper straight out of the hole and out where he could see him!
