Kathryn had caught her breath now as she stood in front of Regina. She had struggled to get close enough to the woman through sheer determination. There was a moment though were Kat could give the DCAC leader a quick smile. "It is rather unexpected. I don't know if everything is alright though."

Kathryn gripped the cash box tightly in both hands and had it cradled against her chest. She didn't want Regina to be disappointed in her but she had to let her know what had happened. Kathryn glanced at the chaos milling around the park clearing before clearing her throat. "I'm afraid there was a little incident earlier. I grabbed the cash box when it looked like the meteor might not burn up and when it hit I accidentally dropped the box. I might have lost part of the proceeds we raised. I tried finding it all but I might have missed something. I'm sorry."

Kathryn was torn. She didn't like that the mistake was hers but she was honest enough to admit her error. She took in Iouri by Regina's side and then cast a look into the darkness of the forest. She was curious about the meteorite's position but surely keeping people away seemed to be a good idea. She braced herself before tilting her head to side. "Do you need any help?"

Perhaps the sounds Cora was making should have been more of a sign for Ainsley to gather up their things and head home but it wasn't. Perhaps it was a bit unreasonable for a ten, almost eleven year old, but Ainsley practically jumped off the blankets she had set on the ground. She held on carefully to Cora but then she slipped the guardian cat she'd been storing her in her jacket onto the blankets and gave the cat a rather stern look, in all regards to looks Ainsley gave. It wasn't shortly after excitement boiled over and she whispered.

"I am going to get us a fallen star!"

And then Ainsley ran off, giving Cora no chance to stop her or even catch up.

As the sound of sirens could be heard Alexandre took off to gather up his things. Rushing and trying not to drop Cadha he managed to gather everything and take off for the parking lot. Upon reaching his truck the blond managed to somehow get everything into the car, without dropping Cadha. The comforter was picked up off the parking lot ground and stuffed into the back seat. The kennel was locked and his keys were stuffed into a pocket, he doubted anyone would break into his truck with cops and such crawling all around, he couldn't lock his truck when Lily needed to get in and get Eamon into his kennel. He didn't give much thought to leaving Lily here for who knows how long. There were other things on his mind, like getting into the forest.

As he took back off for the park he powered up, he could due with the extra speed his powered form afforded him. This was not something to be ignored and surely some member of the other side had seen this and would be on their way here.

Connor turned and winked at his lovely companion. "I'll be right back," he said vaguely. He left it at that, and darted from her side, before she could catch up to him

He took the time to power up and take off for the forest...

Hayden rolled her eyes, but couldn't hide the grin emerging when she watched Connor wink at her. "Sure you will." She totally didn't believe him. The woman drank the rest of her orange juice before crushing the cup, throwing it away (litter bug!) and opted to check out the forest. Hey, it wasn't everyday she got to walk up to a giant meteor.

Sydney stood up, shaking up the last of the hot chocolate on her hands before she took a look at Regina and the growing crowd. Despite her advantageous height, she was going to call it a night and left.

Well, this had been a bust. Lian scowled, taking out his phone to check the time. He shook his head and got back onto his feet. The man didn't even bother to look in the direction of the meteor when he began to walk away, punching in some numbers to call his friend and demand an explanation for her absence.

The sound of sirens triggered a little warning in the back of Jett's head; in his high school days he had partaken in his fair share of nefarious activities, though charisma and quick feet had always gotten him out of trouble. At the first wail, the hair had prickled on the back of his neck and he found himself compelled to bolt--until he paused to remind himself that, no, he was not currently engaged in anything criminal, and they certainly weren't coming after him.

Still, he didn't really want to be around when they did show up.

His eyes wandered to the forest and his lips pursed just a bit. Sure, he was pretty curious about what was over there, despite how he told himself he'd rather not know.

...But, here were some of his close friends. Candice was already scared, and Micah--despite her enthusiasm--wasn't really that experienced in fighting for him to feel safe with just her. Millicent might have been an expert fencer, but she was still just a child, and Darwin--

...

Darwin.

Yeah.

He'd be screwed if there was anything freaky going on.

In that instant, Jett found himself actually worrying about these people. Meteors probably did this sort of thing all the time, but Jett already had a grudge against space and couldn't help but suspect something was amiss.

His eyes drifted to Raven and he cleared his throat. She could power up, just as him. She could be useful in this situation--if anything was actually going on. "Hey, babe," he said, glancing towards the forest. "Maybe you and I...let me borrow you for a minute." Taking her hand, he heaved her up, waved to the group, and then said, "We're gonna go have a hot, steamy makeout session over there in the forest soooo. Yeah. If we're not back in five minutes, that's why. Later," he said, waving to the group before he tugged at Raven's hand, dragging her towards the forest.

So, a giant space rock had streak over their heads and crashed nearby, something that was surely a once in a lifetime event. Darwin, however, didn’t much care. He hadn’t been crushed by star debris, which was nice, but this would have never been a potential problem in the first place if his parents hadn’t made him volunteer for the event.

Untangling himself from his awkward position on the ground, Darwin rose and stretched, peering in the direction of the meteor’s impact site, then in the direction of the sirens.

“ Wonder if it’s the Men in Black. Maybe the meteor was a squirrel ship; it’d explain a lot.”

Well, sorta. Except that’d mean that the government was in it with the squirrels, and while that explained even more, it was a thought Darwin didn’t want to contemplate. Regardless, he didn't much feel like sticking around, what with the close call and sirens and Jett and Raven going off to swap saliva.

“ Oh well, off to tell my parents I’ve literally survived another social excursion. Ta!”

The meteor hadn’t hit them. It had sailed right overhead and landed nearby – uncomfortably close – but it hadn’t hit them. So far so good, but Nyasa could not help but remain tense, waiting for the other shoe to drop. After all, this was Destiny City; it seemed unlikely that something like a meteor impact could mean nothing of consequence.

And then there were sirens. Nyasa didn’t know and didn’t really care if the sirens meant that the meteor had killed people. No, the only thing the sirens represented to her was a ticking clock. If she was going to inspect the meteor – and she had to, because since she had been so close to its impact, she knew a report would be expected – she would have to do so before the first responders got there. To do that, she’d have to power up; what a bother. This night was turning out to be nothing but a nuisance, and she hadn’t even seen Makayla, her main reason for coming in the first place! Hopefully that meteor would have something would somewhoe make the night less of a waste of her time.

Lily had nodded to Alex thinking it a good idea to get the dogs back into the car, so she stood and started to gather things. Unfortunately the sirens startled Eamons and bolt taking Lily along for the ride. She struggled to gain control of him while Alex rushed to gather everything.

Calming Eamon wasn't going to work, so instead she resorted to directing his panic to get him to Alex's truck and loading him in. Cadha was loaded up but Alex seemed to be missing. Lily figured he was looking for her and she frowned slightly wanting to find him, but figuring this would be the best time for her to go take a look at the meteor that had just crashed.

She whispers a quickly appology to her friend and ran off to go power up. There was no telling what she would run into.

"Actually, I lived in China when I was little-"

Anming broke off mid-sentence when she heard the sirens, and glanced around. Normally, she would have taken it as a sign that it was time to pack up and leave for home, but...

She wanted to check out the forest, when she thought about it. See where the meteor crashed. Anming wasn't certain how she would manage to (politely) get away from Gwendolyn, though, and she felt bad...

Finally thinking of an excuse, Anming pretended to check her phone, before getting to her feet.

"Ah... I'm sorry, but it looks like I need to go. I'll talk to you again later, hopefully!"

And with that, she was off to look for somewhere to power up, and explore the forest.

Gwen had just finished her hot chocolate when the sirens rang and Anming had quickly glanced at her phone. She didn't need to say a word, as it was the universal language for 's**t, I gotta go', but Gwen was thankful that Anming was at least polite enough to announce her departure, even if it seemed a little rushed.

"Ah... I'm sorry, but it looks like I need to go. I'll talk to you again later, hopefully!"

"Oh, sure... I'm sure we'll meet again," Gwen said, though half of it was to herself as Anming had already left. Now, alone and without her hot chocolate, Gwen released a heartfelt sigh, grabbed her blanket, and began the long, lonely trek home. Her bus fare was wasted on a measly cup of hot chocolate, and she let out her frustrations on it, crumbling it within her hand and flicking it into a nearby garbage can. "Hope she makes it home alright..."

Gwen felt a sneeze coming on, releasing it with vigor and moving along. It was getting awfully cold. "I wish I had another dollar to get some hot chocolate at least. I don't want to catch a cold..."

((Kestrel - Lissy))

Kestrel had been admiring the meteor before it smashed into the earth. She had no idea what was going on or anything really. However she did suddenly feel a bit under the weather.

She however wanted to see the rock, see what it looked like. This new idea of space she had, whether she could get up there again it plagued her and now space was here! She had to see! However it seemed that someone was stopping them.

The flashing lights made her pause for a second before looking back to the forest and thats when she ran, straight for it, powering up once she was sure she was out of sight. Thule was going to find that rock.

-------

Lissy had watched with amazement as the rock fell to earth but she didn't feel good. It was as if she had a cold or something. Her head felt funny too. She wanted to see the rock though and so she got up to head over when she felt a hand around her wrist.

"Mum?" She looked confused but slightly relieved, she really was starting to feel bad. It was a good thing news traveled fast in the city and so she was heading home for bed.

Cora was stunned. It was like the lightning had struck on the little feline. Ainsley was going to do what?! But before she could react in any way, Ainsley was already gone.

"Mew?" said Cora, watching at the direction where Ainsley had gone. Her ears lowered a bit and her tail -that had been up in a beautiful curve- curled around her in left and right side in turn. "Mew!" she said again, sounding rather pathetic, like a kitten without her mother.

She stood up, on her four paws and started to head after her little girl owner. But there was feet, there was hundreds of big moving feet that blocked her way and separated her from the girl with whom she came to see meteor shower with. She was starting to sound anxious already when she tried to sneak between feet of people and called her owner.

"Mew! Mew! Meow! Meeooww! Meeeoooowwww! .... Mew.... Mew....... Mew.........mew....... mew.......... mew..................... mew........."

“Oh, I’m good!” Gigi chattered when Arian returned with his things. “Just, you know, school and stuff. How about you – did you bake these?” The brownies effectively derailed the conversation. She didn’t remember seeing them on the picnic tables. There had been a lot of stuff set out, but it wouldn’t surprise her if the boy had made his own – Arian’s baking was a thing of wonder as far as she was concerned.

‘Magical’ was definitely the right word for the view above them, and once the shock of the crash wore off, it somehow seemed even more amazing. There was a crashed meteor in the park. Just like a movie. Gigi dissolved into nervous giggles. “I bet it’s aliens!” she joked, turning wide-eyed to her friend. “Space aliens, Arian. Omigod.” The meteors with aliens were so much better than the ‘end of the dinosaurs’ meteors, at least as far as her choice of TV went. She glanced around at the panicked picnickers. Life on earth didn’t appear to be about to end.

Faintly, a rather tragic mewling sound caught her attention between the approaching sirens.

“Arian. Did you just hear a cat?”

Innocent wishes, the joy of the starry display - all were forgotten as Tomlin watched with growing concern as the meteor descending. Unblinking eyes followed it all the way down, till it disappeared into the forest obscured by trees. The ground thundered with the impact, and the guardian crouched in the grass to keep his footing, a long still moment as the tremors died away, the humans around him starting to move and scatter.

There were people already trying to block the path, and more gathering at the forest edge. But none of them were watching for a cat. Like stop-motion between the flashes of light, Tomlin rocketed towards the forest at a flat sprint, dodging legs, and made a dive for the bushes, and what lay beyond.

There was only one thought in his head. Whatever that energy was, he had to make sure it was safe.

Arian nodded in response to Gigi’s query about the brownies, admitting “I wasn’t sure if there’d be any food here, so I brought a few to munch on just in case” before holding out the remaining brownies out in offering on the off chance that his curly haired friend would like to have one.

Despite smiling slightly in response to Gigi’s comments about aliens slightly and shaking his head at her query about a cat, Arian found it hard to keep his full attention on his friend, something about the falling meteor having tugged at him for some reason the dark-haired teen was unable to explain.

Giving the area where the meteor had fallen, Arian noticed that the woman who was watching the area seemed to no longer rigidly guarding the entrance to the forest and after making apologies to Gigi – something about his cousin expecting him home soon and maybe they could meet up soon – Arian took the opportunity to slip away.

After finding somewhere private to power up, it was his powered alter-ego Sailor Athene that took the opportunity given from the lady watching the forest’s distraction to make his towards and slip away into the trees.

Gigi hadn't been deliberately fishing for a treat, but when the brownies were offered she could hardly say no. "I'll buy you a hot drink!" she decided, as a fair rate of exchange. "My dad gave me money."

Though Arian was polite as always, he seemed distracted after the meteor fell. Maybe it had scared him more than he was letting on, she thought. Guys could be funny like that. She'd been pretty scared for a moment too, but it wasn't a secret, and anyway it looked like the police and fire brigade and whatever were already on their way. So there was nothing to be worried about. She was a little disappointed when he reminded her it was time to go home. She'd have to think of something else to do for him, since it wasn't very likely she'd still have the dad money the next time she saw him.

"Oh, right. Well. I guess my dad will be back in a little bit. Any time! See you at school!"

She waved after his departing back, and began to pack up her own things, but heard a distraction of her own. That noise again. She would almost swear it was a kitty. Picnic rug wrapped around her shoulders, she began to search for the poor thing in the dark, not wanting it to be stepped on amongst the urgent packing up.
