Alex was getting a little tired of waiting, so he finally stepped to the side of the doorway, turned around to lean against the wall, and slumped to the floor. A few of the Maul patrons gave him some funny looks, but Alex remained where he was, stubbornly deciding he wasn't going to move for anybody until his friend came back out of the shop.
He was sure taking his sweet time about it, though. Did he not even notice that Alex wasn't there any more? Did he not even see the commotion of Alex being hauled out? Ugh. He should've shouted for the other boil when he had still been inside.
He thought about standing in the doorway to do that now, but he wasn't completely sure that the shop staff wouldn't call Maul security on him if he did so.
And so he sat, and waited. Then he waited some more. Eventually however, he grew a little suspicious. Surely Yin would have noticed his absence by now?? Pushing himself very awkwardly to his feet, he turned to look through the stores glass panes (which if he had done earlier he might have seen Yin wandering around looking for him) but all he could see were the staff chatting happily about something and laughing to each other. No weremantis in sight.
Frowning, Alex began to turn away from the shop again when he caught a flash of green out of the corner of his eye. His head swiveled in that direction to see Yin standing alone in front of another shop. How the Jack had he gotten over there???
"YIN!" Alex called, shambling towards him on legs gone stiff from the prolonged sitting on the floor. "What are you...when did you leave the pet store??"

Yin almost thought he heard someone calling his name, which was ridiculous since his friend had abandoned him at the maul. But no, it was definitely Alexander's voice as he drew nearer. He was unsure of just why the zomboil was asking him all of these things, so he decided to start from what he deemed the best starting point. "When I realized that you had left me I asked the workers if they had seen you leave. They directed me to the entryway to the other store," he gestured to the shop behind them, "and said that you had exited in that direction. I searched for you there before realizing that you must have left..."
His voice trailed off and he looked away. This really did not make sense. Why had Alexander left him, and why was he coming back now and demanding answers? But the zomboil had been gone, Yin had checked the entire store. And he had not told him where he was going. He should have rightly been angry about having been abandoned, but instead he just felt...betrayed? Confused? Hurt? Happy that the zomboil was back? Friends were complicated.

"That I...left you?"
What?
As Yin continued on, Alex just felt more and more angry, but that anger was mixed with a sense of..guilt? He felt guilty because Yin had thought that Alex had abandoned him.
"Uh Yin..I'm really sorry that happened. I didn't exactly leave you of my own free will though." Should he continue on? Would Yin even think it was the truth or just that Alex was making excuses? Might as well tell him what happened, right? "There was an er..misunderstanding and I got kicked out of the shop. They probably just thought it would be funny to tell you that I had gone to another store, you know, for a laugh." People seemed to be having a lot of those at Alex's expense today.
"Anyways, look, I think we should just head back to the school now. It's uhm..getting late and you probably need to get up early for training, right?" He reached up to put a hand on Yin's shoulder, and gave it a light, reassuring squeeze. He was here, and he wasn't going to abandon him.

That was not funny at all. Yin was about to go back into the store and show them just what he could do when he put his mind to it but Alexander was already talking about going back to the school. Someday he would retaliate. But not today. He nodded, at least it made more sense now. The zomboil was touching him again as well, he was a fairly physical being the weremantis was beginning to realize, but he did not mind the cool hand on his shoulder. He simply turned, breaking the hold with that slight movement, only to take the hand back with his own and begin trudging toward the maul entrance.
After a short period of silence Alexander began asking him questions about what had been so fascinating about all of the pink things in the store and he found himself talking about Princess Eva. Every once in a while he would remember he was monopolizing the conversation and ask a question about Alexander's minipets, but something would soon remind him about Princess Eva and off he would go again about some little feat she had performed, or how she liked her fur brushed just so, or the time that a kushi-kushi had found itself accidentally in his room. That had a been a delicious evening.
The conversation about minipets took them all the way through the school gates, but it was not until the reached the crossroads to their respective dorms that Yin stopped to even consider that. "We are here already?" he noted with some surprise. Quickly he stripped off the backpack and held it and the bags out to Alexander. "I must thank you for a most enjoyable evening Alexander. Please do not forget our study session?" He did not really know what to say, but that sounded alright.

Alexander walked alongside the weremantis the entire way back to the school, just trudging along and listening to Yin as he went on and on and on about his pet, Princess Eva. Every once in a while Yin would ask Alex a question, but the conversation always went back to the weremantis and his pet, and Alex didn't mind in the least bit. It was nice to hear Yin so obviously happy about something that he had.
As they reached the gates of the school, Alex was also surprised by how quickly the walk back from the Maul seemed to have gone. He knew that it was impossible that it could have been less then a couple of hours, probably more, however, since he walked at such an incredibly slow pace.
Alex reached out to take his backpack from Yin, once they came to the place where they would part ways, slinging it over a shoulder before taking the shopping bags as well. "I won't forget." He grinned, and then "I'm glad you had a good time..it was, uh, different for me as well." Still smiling, just maybe not so broadly now. For some odd reason, Alex was beginning to feel quite awkward and a little..weird. He reached up with a free hand to push the hair out of his eyes, a gesture he normally did while nervous. But what was he even nervous about?
"Well, uh, goodnight then?" he finally stammered out, bringing his hand down in a 'seeya' gesture before turning and beginning his slow trudge back towards his dorm.
