"I'm Reuben," he said simply but amiably as well, "pleased to meet yeh both."
Womenfolk often got the nicknames the menfolk got their names sprouted back at them; it was just how he was raised and how he worked. Women had names, certainly, but it was so ingrained within him he just didn't know how to do otherwise anymore.
He got some food in to his mouth trying to be as polite as possible within sight of new company, "I been 'round. Y'know?"
The answer wasn't evasive as much as Reuben didn't really tend to recall some places very well at times.

Lee raised an eyebrow at Cliff in quiet skepticism. His fork eh? She deliberately shoved it into some mash and raised it to eat the bite with slow motions. Once her bite was eaten she smirked at him, "My fork now." Not that it seemed to matter that much when someone else volunteered their fork, ketchup and all. She barley resisted a snort of amusement.

((ooc: on phone atm)) Gabby discreetly tucked the tiny bottle of booze back into her coat. Pfe, it may have been too much to hope Jamisson had more info on the mission. The man promptly went to work his "magic" on gathering intel, which admittedly put Gabby in a better mood. The crack about harrowing lovestories though had the Mist Hunter eyerolling. She gave Seth a pointed look, "Thing about Jamisson is outside of missions, he's full of bull."
As she watched, she spotted Julio and Heidi and found herself even more amused. Particularly with the Death Hunter's reaction to whatever the Mist Hunter was saying. She liked Julio outside of missions but the man was distracting. Very distracting. But when Heidi left and Jamisson started back to their table, Gabby smiled at Julio and tried to wave him over to join them.

The noise seemed to increase as more and more people made their way into the cafeteria. Groaning to himself, one finger pressed against his ear, closing it from at least one side of the world. That was better, sort of. His other hand was rather occupied by eating, his utensil moving in a slow up and down from his mouth to his plate. It was a mundane task, eating, wasn't it? Droll... rhythmic. Though the rhythm was soothing to the male, to some, he supposed, it could get dull, which was why they talked so much. All that pointless 'small talk' Foolish chatter. Meaningless. Idle gossip. So many ways that the young man could describe the babble about him, none of it nice. Alexi let himself sink into the task, the babble becoming nothing more than white noise as he sank into his happy oblivion.

Mercutio didn't really have much to say through the whole encounter. Most of his attention was spent staring at his sandwich, and then devouring it. The Seth boy got a wave, but then he ran off, so Merc didn't even have time to get a word in. Oh well.
A hunter he recognized came and joined them at the table. Mercutio wasn't quite sure where he recognized the other man from, but it was definitely familiar.
The entire interaction made him think of a certain Disney scene, which left him laughing softly under his breath. With one hand still firmly gripped on his sandwich, the other reached around to pull Lyanna back by the collar. "Now, now. Down Bessie," he said playfully.
To the other hunter, the one he now knew as Dominic, Mercutio said, "Mercutio. This is Lyanna." Continuing he said, "'Dunno what we're out here for. Hope its nothing serious." Then again, Mercutio never hoped it was something serious. Serious meant doing things

Since he was alone for the time being, and the life leader was nowhere to be seen, Julio went ahead and produced a cigarette to light up. Shortly after he did so, he spotted Gabby from another table, waving him over. Grinning, he went and grabbed his food tray to move on over. "Hola," he greeted while sitting himself down, "Tis been quite awhile since I've last seen you Gabby. You're looking fine as always." ((And others at the table))

Reuben... that just made Aiden hungry for a sandwich. Lucky for him, that was also on his tray. The young man was silent for a moment as he collected his thoughts properly so he might answer the curious woman. "I was working a first aid tent for an ongoing battle somewhere North... I think." Place names were lost on him somtimes. He went where he was needed, and did his job. Asking questions was saved for his 'patients'. Such as 'Where does it hurt?'. Hm. Perhaps he should be.. ah.. conversational? It was down time after all. "Urm.." He started, fidgeting and removing tomatoes from his sandwich. "Sure do hope this mission isn't too chaotic."

Suddenly, something caught Melly's attention out of the corner of her eye. Without even replying to either of the two she was sitting with, the dark-haired girl suddenly jumped up, eyes focused on someone at another table. "I'll be right back!" she called, waving over her shoulder. There was someone over there with rainbow-colored hair oh my god. And he was sitting by himself, which obviously meant she should invite him to come join them! Being all alone wasn't fun. "Hi!" her voice was suddenly right by his ear, and she waved with a happy sort of smile. "Haven't seen you around before, I'm Melly!" Forget using her real name, the nickname was more fun.

Twitch. Twitch. The corner of Alexi's eye couldn't have been more spastic at the voice by his ear. Was it not obvious that he wanted to be alone? And why the hell was she practically screeching her inane babble right by his EAR?! He growled lowly, and that golden gaze turned to her slowly, the pupils dilated, and the gaze like ice as she continued that high pitched...irritating WHINE of a voice. "Why do I care that your name is MELLY? Do me a favor. GO back to your group of friends and leave me alone, 'Melly." Alexi was an a**, and his fingers currently were tapping at the table. Apparently, a finger in the ear no longer meant' leave me alone', but instead 'please come make my brain explode with your voice'. OBVIOUSLY.

"We were that age once." She stuck out her tongue at him with a wink but stood up when he took the tray. "We aren't that old either. We're just... survivors." Not many made it this far, to this age. Sometimes she even questioned the method of roping so many young people in, but then again... was thinking about it really worth it? She waited a moment for him to dump the tray in the trash before looping her arm with his lightly. Warden was taller than her, wiry and strong. Billie was also strong but didn't overtly appear to be. She had wide hips, a thin waist and a small little heart shaped mouth. She never had an unpleasant look for anyone until her weapon came out. You'd never know it by looking at her, tiptoeing to put another light kiss on his stubbled chin, but she was very good at her job. "Let's get some fresh air." [Exit]

There may or may not have been a twinkle in Lucas' eye at the insinuation. "Now Cliff," he chided, "I thought better of you. I had to them not to send postcards anymore, but the boxes I get every Christmas more than makes up for it." He looked over at Isaac and raised his fork, on it a piece of cherry jello. Obviously he had not gotten only one cup of the stuff. "When he's old enough for proper education you should bring him to my dorm." Insinuations firmly in place he turned to the girl next to him. "Well Amy, how've you been lately?" There was nothing in his tone to indicate that anything was unusual, and certainly not that he'd made some pretty...suspicious comments. He popped the jello into his mouth and waited for someone else to take the spotlight.

Oh, well wasn't he in a bad mood, geeeez. "You should care because ... well, because what if we get assigned together sometime? Don't you think it's better to know your team's names?" she asked, having noticed that he was also in Life. How had she never seen him before??? "Your hair is awesome by the way. And you shouldn't be eating all alone! Come on, you can sit with us," she went right on talking. Then she actually tried to grab his elbow and tug him along with her.

He gave her a look, lifted a brow, amused, and then followed Billie from the cafeteria.
She was, in fact, very good at her job.

Did she just TOUCH him?! His rainbow hair fell in his eyes as she grabbed his arm, then that gaze raised to hers, and he all but RIPPED his arm from her grasp, "Beg PARDON," This said in a way that suggested that no pardon was being asked, rather that he was QUITE pissed off, "But I don't recall giving you any indication that I WANTED to eat with others, let along go anywhere with an over excitable, far too bouncy person who gives no care to another's personal SPACE. Now kindly don't touch me again, and leave. me. ALONE." Gods willing he'd NEVER have to get assigned with her. Ever. He might just turn to team-killing if that happened. That voice was driving him absolutely insane. Each octave that hit his poor eardrums threatened to break them. Yes....definitely imagining her gruesome end. Wouldn't that be nice...?

Melly drew back with a rather hurt look on her face. Come ON, she was just trying to be friendly ... but fine, if he wanted to be that way. Just. Fine. Lower lip actually trembling a bit, she took another step back. "All right, if you'd rather just sit here alone and be pissed off, I'll go." Marching back over to her own table, she plopped down with something very like a pout on her face. "I saw someone interesting over there, but he's really rude. And apparently he would rather sit by himself and be mad than come talk to us. So fine, he can just stay there." Then she dug back into her food for a moment before looking back up at them. "Anyway, sorry for running off! What were you guys saying?"
