Jerry was quiet, looking a bit disappointed when his name wasn't called. Everyone was shuffling out and onward, and his blood ran cold when he realized... he would be helping Caelius. Oh. Well. Wonderful. He supposed now wouldn't be a good time to ask what he had intended by lending Circe to Candace. Not if he wanted to live. Instead, he shifted closer, trying to not stare at the man's still unfortunate haircut, "Er... sir? What about me? How may I help?"

For a few long moments Gale just stared at Caelius with a dubious expression on his face.
Then he wondered how exactly the Death Hunter knew that putting him with Otto was quite possibly the worst combination on the face of the Earth.
Clearly their boss knew more than he let on.
Letting out a little sigh, Gale got to his feet and followed his "partner" from the room.
Back outside, Caelius led - or rather, didn't lead, but merely walked as usual, expecting followers - them all out onto the training field, where a haphazard little tent was posted. There was a familiar blue glow visible through the thin canvas, and Gale stepped towards it, eying the door behind the flap - a door covered in easily recognizable, glowing runes.
Well. Here goes nothing.
Otto, clearly unhappy with his assigned partner, had already disappeared through the doorway, and Gale followed, stepping into the darkness.
It was hot on the other end - and loud. And...familiar. Gale stopped abruptly, making whoever was behind him knock into him.
"Welcome to the Sahara Disaster Site."
...no.
He did not want to be back here. Not now, not this soon after just being here - the idea of having to do cleanup duty here - and taking samples of what exactly, Gale did not want to know.
Will we find...
He couldn't finish the thought. The scent of hot sand reached his nose, and Gale flinched visibly, his eyes flickering from the walls of the tent to everything else, in quick succession. He knew the hunter was talking to them, but his mind was not on her words, instead already flashing back to just a few short days earlier.
Jinhai.
<< I know. >> came the quiet voice. << Don't lose your cool. >>
That's kind of hard given where we are RIGHT NOW.
<< Hang in there. >>
He could already taste the nausea in his throat. Forcing it back down, Gale mutely reached for one of the sets, grabbing it and shoving it onto his head as he walked stiffly back to where Otto stood, looking bored.
"Ready?" Was all he asked him, the mask hiding any sort of angry expression he might have had.

Bix scanned the faces until he found the ' Tedan' and gave him a finger point. POINT. TOUGH FACE. Not really that tough, Bix was in no way intimidating. As Caelius stormed ahead Bix approached the freshie and patted him on the shoulder. "Looks like it's you or me honeybunch." The kid would probably not place the movie quote but it didn't really matter. "If you need anything.. want to know anything, feel free to ask me." He gave an easy smile, secretly grateful he wasn't placed with a sexy girl for fear he made a fool of himself. When they emerged from the portal in the Sahara Desert?! Bix just sort of gaped. "I always did want to travel.." He was quick to grab 2 masks and 2 headsets, handing one to his partner. "I think I will refer to you as my boy ward. Like the old Batman show.." He snickered a bit and put on the headset first, followed by the mask. s**t. He was clumsy walking as it was, this was not going to help. BTW.. he was trying to ignore the innumerable body bags. Just ... ignore.

Sherry... Oh, she was the girl who had inadvertently prompted Before's outburst. Madison got to her feet, intending to look for her assigned partner first off, but Caelius strode out of the room in a way that strongly suggested following him right that minute. So she did, hunching up a bit against the rain, drawing her coat around her as she hurried behind Caelius towards the tent and the portal within. She followed him through without hesitation... and emerged into sudden sharp heat. Oh, where are we now? Kouki said with interest. I don't know, Madison thought back, quickly, then hurried to get out of the way so the rest of the trainees could enter. At least she felt a little more prepared than last time - anything could suddenly turn into a mission. Anything. ... Oh god, were those body bags? Oh god. Right. She had a new baby trainee to partner with. "Sherry?" she called out, looking around as she picked up her headset and mask. "Is Sherry here?" Man, there were a lot of people in this tent, and it was only going to get worse as the rest of them spilled out. How many people did they need for this mission?! Ugh. Don't look at the body bags. Just... don't.

Dakota waited as Caelius gave out the partners names, his head looked over as everyone began moving to their respected other half and looked around. He didn't see his partner right away and assumed that she had probably already moved on.
Exiting the classroom, he kept his hand on his weapon, oddly aware that he was heading on his first mission. Very first since joining the place.
"I'm not scared." Dakota smiled softly, "Not yet at least, We'll see what happens when we leave the safety of our nest." He looked around the training grounds before noticing the door that all the other's passed through. Taking a breath, he walked through it.
Heat instantly surrounded him, Sand and the smell of earth filled his nose as he shielded his eyes from sun. Wind didn't help either as it kicked up sand. "Gah Chama, the only reason you like this place is because of the heat."
He piled with the other Hunters around the woman, a fellow moon hunter like himself. The mission as far as he could see, was pretty straight forward and simple. They we're recovering...things.
What do you mean Chama? He looked at the weapon.
We'll find out then won't we?
He grabbed his kit, placing the headset and mask on before attempting to locate his team member. Ariane was it?
"Yo is there a Ariane around here?" He didn't call out, ask the hunter's instead.

kuromeez Oops! Sorry had to edit a billion times cause i kept missing typos. Otto stood with his arms crossed tightly over his chest now, the wind already getting on his nerves. Luckily, he had the advantage of his bandanna stopping his hair from getting too tangled. One less thing he would have to worry about later, though he feared he'd be picking sand out of his toes for the next day or so. He eyed Gale curiously through the strange mask, knowing it was him from his voice and the fact he was probably the only other guy as short as himself.Sigh. "Yeah, sure. Let's party." Otto answered sarcastically. <>....Oh.... Ew.. probably bodies?<>

Ryan shrugged at Dakota before shaking his hand. "Its okay, but I think you owe Wilson an apology later..." He answered, looking down the table at Caelius when he began to speak again.
:Ah, looks like partners are being assigned now. Pay attention.:
Ryan held his breath, his full attention on the death hunter as he went over the list. Who could it be? Who was going to be his partner?
"Anyone who has not been named will be staying with me."
Ryan nearly choked. Mentally going over the list of names again.
:Ahahahah! Looks like we're stuck with that guy! Congrats!:
You have got to be kidding... I-it was that man! The man that Gale had warned him about....!
Suddenly fifty percent was looking more like five and Ryan was feeling sick again.
With a groan, he pushed his chair out, following after the others through the door; shoulders sagging and looking gloomier than he had a minute ago. He wasn't looking forward to this day at all!
"We're in the desert..? But how--" He stopped himself and shook his head. It seemed that there was a lot of mysteries about this Deus Ex place that he didn't know of and for now, questions like 'how the hell is that even possible!?' were going to have to wait.
"Umm.. What am I supposed to do..?" He asked instead, stopping beside Jerry--the man from the other day, who looked just as unsure of what to do as he did.

Uh oh. Stuck with Caelius, was she? This won't be fun, She thought to Chara, though she was still grinning as she slid out of her seat, Better not piss him off, huh? The last thing I want to happen is to die before I actually get to do something.
She followed after the other trainees--out the door, down the stairs, into a tent, and what the hell.
A desert?
Dr. H's words came back to her then--that the answer to their questions would either be magic or deal with it. While she had scoffed back then, the only possible explanation for them having suddenly warped to a desert really was...well, magic. But anyways, no time to dwell on that--where was Caelius going? Was she supposed to follow?
Shaking her head, Eva hurried to catch up with Ryan and Jerry, stopping beside the two men. Since they had already voiced the only question that she had wanted to ask, she remained silent.
Well, no. That wasn't entirely true--that wasn't the only questino she had. She kind of wanted to ask him what happened to his hair, but she recalled what Gale had said before. Something about his hair being a touchy subject? At least he's not bald.
Eva, this isn't the time.

Ferdinand? Who the hell was --- Oh. The one who'd first met them when they woke up from the pods, right. Though Tedan seemed to remember him going by some other name. Oh well whatever, but what was with the honeybunch thing? Geez. "I'm not your honeybunch," he muttered, though he didn't really sound too upset. When they stepped out into the desert, his mouth dropped open in surprise. "s**t. Okay this beats flying any day..." He had a passing thought to wonder why the Hunters didn't share this kinda tech with the rest of the world. But. Of course, it must be because they had to be cooler than everyone else. ......... He could live with that. There was a small 'sound' of what could have been amusement from Arda at that (which he ignored). Tedan reached out to take the headset and mask, fumbling with it a bit before getting both items on. He made a face, then, even though he realized Bix couldn't see it. "C'mon, can't I at least get called Robin?"

Ceres found herself listening intently as the list of names was rolled off. Twitching some in her seat, she was hushed once more by Takeru while they listened. No...no... no...Not her....nope again. As she last name was called she looked around a bit con-fuddled, was there some mistake... Her name was not called? There was no way he had skipped over her had she? No, you are paired with him.
"... What?" Her mouth fell open, there HAD to be some sort of mistake! She did not know Caelius very well, but he did not seem the type to like little newbies following him around... unless he liked to put a gun to their heads too. Nervously, she lifted herself to her feet and approached the moon huntress whom was handing out the gear... she grabbed a bag, but looked curiously towards Ryan, Eva, and Jerry as well. "...My name was not called either." As if her looking around stupidly was not obvious. Ceres stop looking around like an idiot.

Harrison, harrison... Leon spent a few minutes pondering over the name before he finally put the name to face in a moment of clarity. He was one of the guys who participated in the haunted house mission. It was someone who knew how it worked and also that this stuff was serious. Perfect. And just like that, Caeulius was out of his seat and making his way over to the portal while he lead the charge, Leon strolling along behind with the others as they began to chatter to new teammates and about what the mission would be like. A portal much like the other was swiftly entered by the senior death hunter and the boxer followed in suit to a dry atmosphere, dry and warm. Looks like we are in a open air oven of sorts, I hope there's Jerky around. Nidhogg said with a calm presence, already thinking about food. "Its a desert like environment and you won't find jerky here, maybe the occasional soda machine but no jerky dispenser." he grumbled back lowly as a mass of fellow trainees began to pile up from the entrance portal, thought it wasn't as bad compared to the glimpse of the black zipped up bags that made the stoic life hunter gulp, the feeling of apprehension was one that came back in a instant, like another strange blue flamed creature was going to fall into the sandy battlefield and crush them. "I hope we get some water too, lets get this done and over with eh Harrison?" he finally spoke aloud, mostly to his new partner as he picked up a headset and a mask before addressing the moon hunter/ Caelius's new whipping girl. "How will the search be organized, do you need us to do a sweep or formation of some sort, and will there be hydration supplies issued for this mission?" he asked bravely. Considering how much he worked out, Leon was well aware of the dangers that dehydration posed on the human body. And above all, he didn't want to end up in one of those bags.

Candace pursed her lips and looked away as Before got called out by Caelius. Heh. Maybe he could get that pansyass to grow a pair. Her attention returned to Caelius though as he began to list off pairings. Katherine? Who was Katherine? Candace looked around until she spotted the new sun hunter. Ohhh she was a cute young thing, huh? She didn't mind being paired with her as opposed to who poor Gale got. Or that one guy...Dakota? Eh. She listened for Jerry's name, waiting nervously for him to be paired with some 'very pretty' girl. Her being 'very pretty' had been why he had liked her to begin with...she didn't want that to happen with someone else. ...Wait did she hear that right? Why the ******** was Leon being paired with Harrison? "Waaaaaay to go, Harrison." Candace chuckled, grinning at her friend and shaking her head. Okay, so Jerry wasn't called. He wasn't paired with some pretty young thing younger than her. But he was with Caelius? Ehhhh..okay. She'd stay quiet. She was okay with this. Candace stretched her arms up over her head before getting up and out of her chair. Katherine, huh? She didn't get a chance to go over to her before Caelius made it clear it was time to go. She waved for the newer trainee to follow quickly before making her way out herself, pausing a moment to turn and find Jerry. "Ah! There you are." Candace reached over to gently grab his arm, pulling him close to press a kiss against his good cheek and smile. "Do you best, okay? Keep your cool~. I will if you will." She gave his cheek another kiss before letting him go. "See you after the mission, babe."Candace followed Caelius obediently, not wanting to raise his ire after what she had done with Circe. She didn't want his attention. She didn't even want to be near him. Candace just wanted to be alone so she could reconcile with her weapon without distraction. She stopped at the sight of Circe trailing behind Caelius, swallowing hard and forcing herself to look away. She wanted nothing to do with that goddamn scythe. Nothing. She let others walk in ahead of her before following through the door, only to be blasted with hot air. Hoooooly s**t. Wait. What? "This..this is the sahara?" She was suddenly very glad she was wearing shorts. But holy s**t. This was the sahara? They were in Africa?! Whoa! That was so cool! But right. Business. No time to see if she could find anything cool in the miles and miles and miles and miles of sandy desert. "Katherine?" Candace called out, heading for the box to grab a pair of headsets and a pair of masks for both herself and her new trainee partner. She glanced over as another hunter left the tent and froze. "Are those..." Body bags? Maybe if we're lucky one of them will be yours and then I can get a hunter who appreciates me. Atropos huffed. Candace swallowed hard and quickly walked away from the box to find Katherine.

... Good job, Before. The guy's enthusiasm was good, but Jordan had to wonder how Before was still apparently either forgetting or missing that annoying Caelius was probably a bad idea. And that just about everything annoyed Caelius.
His eyebrows rose just slightly as Caelius listed off partner assignments. Hard to miss that the Death Hunter was making a deliberate effort to force possible troublemakers to work together. So why had he been paired with Reine, in that case? Probably an oversight, but he wasn't about to draw attention to it.
He followed Caelius outside and to the tent with everyone else; the sight of the portal gave him a moment's pause, but he shook his head and stepped through. Finding himself in the desert was a surprise. He squinted against the bright light and wind, and put an arm up to fend off some of the flying sand. The Moon Hunter who'd been assigned to instruct them sounded harried and stressed, and the brief glimpse of a long line of what looked like body bags in the large tent gave Jordan a good idea of why. What had happened here? He bit the question back for now. Preparation, then instructions, and questions when there was a better chance.
I don't like this, Ferros said.
Yeah, I don't think I do either. He picked up a mask and headset, then paused. If the masks had poor visual sensors, he'd better find Reine before he put the mask on. He snagged a second headset and looked around; when he spotted Reine, he made his way through the small crowd to stand with her, handing her the equipment. "You about ready?"

Violet eyes were on Cass, when she approached him, " Oh, Nice to meet you." And no sooner had he said that they were leaving right after she said she jumped before she thought. " That's fine..." He gave a nod, when they reached the tent he paused for a moment before following her. The door thing looked pretty neat, but that was about as far as the thought went. He shielded his eyes at the sand. <Ohh boy we're going to ROAST. Oh wait no I like fire.... I hope you do Al.>Aleister sighed at Pookie in his head, as he picked up the needed equipment from the moon hunter lady, " Thank you ma'am." He said taking a cue from Cass on that one. " Pretty sure I'm melee. Pookie's a spikey ball on a chain." He explained gesturing to the little keychain that was currently pookie. <Stop calling me pookie!>Aleister ignored him. " Hopefully this stuff is easy to pick up..."

"That's good then. I'm actually both." Cass explained, as to why Melee and Long-range even effected her at all as she worked on getting the headset into a comfortable position on her head. "Nicodemus is a dual-wield weapon, half blade, half gun." So a gunblade, more or less. How very Final Fantasy of her. However, on the note of 'picking things up', Cass couldn't help but shrug a little bit.
"To be honest, I think it depends on exactly what it is we're getting. You'd be surprised how quickly something you suspect of being easy is really not going to be. But don't worry, I got your back." she mused, and once the headset was in place, she pulled the heat-sensing eyewear on over her head, resting them on her forehead patiently.
She'd put them on when they headed outside and needed them more than they did right then.
"For a quick crash course in what to expect; your weapon is going to be keeping you safe for a good chunk of damage, as it is in their interest to keep you unless they want to go back to the room. I'm going to summon Nicodemus before I head out of the tent, if..." she paused, looking to the body bags and then biting her lower lip for a moment, "Those are any indicator of what to expect. If we get attacked, well... hitting the enemy is good, it will let your weapon store energy for a bigger attack."
Cass took a moment to tick off on her fingers thoughtfully, trying to think of anything else she should have covered. "It is actually a bit more complicated then that, but since we don't have dummies to practice against before we get going, we're going to have to roll with the punches."
