Kohaku smirked slightly. I think she'll be surprised when she gets back to the apartments... there's a little surprise for her, though it doesn't reveal who left it, he thought. He knew, since he'd had a specialized clone leave the bouquet of black, yellow, and pink roses on the counter in her kitchen with a secret admirer note. He pulled out the next file, tilting his head fractionally. "Myra Jacobs, 23, skipped out on a bail of sixty thousand... damn, that has to be among the stupidest moves I've ever heard of," he said thoughtfully. He heard a low boom and chuckled. "Other than that... safe to say Garrett's gonna be hosed off from a distance for a few weeks," he murmured under his breath. He'd planted a very special stink bomb no larger than a marble, but had marked it with a timed detonation seal no larger than the head of a standard nail. He'd slipped it down the back of Garrett's shirt when he'd grabbed the guy by the collar after laming him temporarily.

Aisha was too revved to really pay attention to the muffled explosion from the precinct and revved the engine before peeling away, joining traffic. She tumbled the name Myra around in her head for a few minutes before blinking and then rolling her eyes, "A 23-year-old cat lady. I know her....I mean, I know of her. She's got so many cats it's a miracle that the Health Department hasn't gotten involved. Aisha made a turn and they were soon in a more affluent side of town. She pulled through the open gate at the beginning of a long winding driveway. She parked in front of a rather impressively sized house. She chuckled when she saw the felines lounging around out front. A few of them sunned themselves on the manicured lawn.

"Let me handle this one. Myra's not really all that violent but she parties too hard when she gets a certain number of drinks in her. Lots of property damage. She's sort of dizzy when she's sober." Aisha commented before getting out. She moved to the nearest feline and let out a series of chirruping sounds.

The cat rolled over and peered up at her before yawning hugely, stretching, and then standing. A few more stalled minutes of grooming it's flank and then shaking it's head before it trotted off around the side of the house.

Aisha followed.

Kohaku would notice that the other cats had taken notice of both him and Aisha. A few of the younger curious ones stood up to follow as well.

Kohaku tilted his head before shrugging, his tail materializing for a few seconds as he walked cautiously after Aisha. He yelped as he felt something grab his tail, his head snapping around to see a couple of the kittens stalking after his tail, which hung several inches above the ground. Cats... I like them, but not when they try to turn me into a freakin' living chew toy, he thought.

Around the side of the house and into the palatial back yard. Aisha paused a moment to look around and let out a low whistle of appreciation before continuing to follow their guide. A petite old woman sat by an impressive pool, large sunglasses perched on her nose and a giant sunhat sitting on her head. She was reading a book...looked like it had a....silver tie on the cover? Aisha shook her head and then cleared her throat as they got close.

Looking up, Myra smiled vacuously at them. Her smile turned into a little "O" when Aisha identified herself and why they were here, "Oh but I can't!" She said, "My babies would be all alone!"

"With all due respect, ma'am, that is not a valid excuse for missing your court date. And frankly, I believe it's insulting to them to think they cannot care for themselves while you are gone."

Myra's brows came together, her expression still managing to look stormy behind the gargantuan sunglasses.

"Don't believe me? Ask them." She gestured to their guide, who'd been grooming its paw, apparently uninterested up until this moment. It stopped it's grooming and jumped onto the chair, climbing into Myra's lap where it purred and chirped.

"Oh but--" Myra started only to be interrupted. After a few more noises Myra sighed, "Fine." She glanced at Aisha then did a double take, the "O" appearing again. She got up and reached to tug Aisha's ears, "OH MY GAWD!!!" She exclaimed.

Aisha stiffened, her tail puffing.

"AND A TAIL! OH!" Myra shrieked.

Aisha winced.

"Do you want to stay here? I'll take good care of you. You're so adorable!" Myra crooned.

Aisha blushed, gritting her teeth.

Kohaku growled as he pushed off, three of the cats leaping up after him as his kitsune ears formed as the illusion unraveled as he swung around the corner of the house a few feet away from the old woman and Aisha. "These cats are trying to turn me into a freakin' chew toy... I got nothing against cats, but these are starting to get on my nerves," he said, knowing his voice held more than a hint of a growl.

Aisha whipped and let out a snarl, her pupils shrinking to mere slits as she eyed the clowder. The cats scattered, except their original guide who stayed where he'd been sitting. Aisha sniffed loudly before turning her attention back to Myra, "It is time to go. I have been assured that the cats will be just fine for a little while. Will you come with us willingly?"

Myra's eyes were so big they seemed to take up half her face. She swallowed and nodded mutely. She swallowed again, steeling herself, "I just...need my purse."

Aisha grunted, "Kohaku will accompany. I advise you not to run."

Myra shook her head before her gaze flickered to the aforementioned Kohaku before turning and heading into the house.

Kohaku snickered slightly as the girl nearly fled into the house. He sighed, following the girl. She doesn't seem to realize that there are stranger things out there than what 'normal' humans know, he thought.

Myra was escorted to the precinct, bonded out, and returned home with no other incidents. She waved to them as Aisha drove away.

"It's passed lunch time. I need food before I homicide someone." Aisha grumbled, "What about you?" She glanced over at him.

Kohaku nodded, shifting his weight in the seat. "Considering that before I got this job, I was almost always on the move 'cause of those damned Erasers," he said dryly, referring to the wolf-human hybrids created as both guards and assassins. "Could be worse, like eating out of Dumpsters again," he muttered, not realizing his voice was still clearly audible.

"Yeah, dumpster diving, totally sucks." Aisha sighed, her ears drooping. But then she perked up, "But Eva doesn't. Eva means gooooood fooooood." Aisha purred happily and spun the car 180 degrees, cutting off a few motorists. She didn't appear to be fazed by the honking and cussing and they were back at the diner in record time.

Aisha's usual booth was unoccupied which was good....for everyone. Eva was still on duty and saw her come in. She hurried over as Aisha plonked down into the booth with a sigh.

"The usual?" She looked up and her smile brightened a few more degrees when she caught sight of Kohaku, "Times two?"

"Yeah, that'll be good, Eva. Kohaku, anything specific you want?" Aisha asked, rubbing at the back of her neck.

Kohaku shrugged. "Not really," he said with amusement. He usually didn't ride in cars nor did he spend time with people for much longer than a few days at most because of what hunted him. He frowned slightly, his eyes widening. A girl with light brown-gold eyes and blond hair falling over her shoulders and wearing a jean jacket and black jeans had just walked in. He recognized her immediately and noticed she didn't turn her back either to the diners or the bar. "Um.... do you have anything to eat for free?" she said slowly, seeming embarrassed. "Damn, Max, you need to loosen up. You and Fang both are so tense I swear if piano strings could talk anywhere near you two they'd be saying 'Oh s**t, those two make us look relaxed'," he said dryly. The blond jumped at his voice, her head whipping around before she spotted Kohaku. Her jaw dropped almost immediately, clearly shocked. "How did..." she started when Kohaku cocked an eyebrow. She swallowed hard. "So you sent," she said, trying something else. "Yeah, I did," he said idly, as if it didn't bother him too much.

Eva frowned slightly in confusion, "Don't worry about paying for it, Aisha will cover for you." she glanced at the cat woman and raised a dark brow.

Aisha nodded and her ears perked at Kohaku's odd behavior. She followed his line of sight until he caught sight of a lithe blonde that had just entered. Her aquamarine eyes flickered back to Kohaku, "A friend of yours, hm?"

Eva's frown deepened and she also turned and caught sight of the woman. She and Kohaku began speaking to each other, but it was as if some of the words were missing. Still, they seemed to understand each other perfectly, "So...three...?" She asked uncertainly.

Kohaku nodded slightly. "She's a friend. Fortunately Angel was able to get to her quickly, either that or they were close by," he said thoughtfully. Max sighed before she walked up to Kohaku and swatted him in the back of the head. "Next time, why don't you try coming yourself? We've had a bunch of them run us out," she said, rolling her eyes. Kohaku snorted. "They've got balls doing that, though the few that have found me... they either crawled away or didn't get away at all," he said dryly. Max cocked an eyebrow, looking skeptical. She shifted, unconsciously flaring out her own brown and white wings that were six and a half feet wide for a moment. Kohaku snickered. "You don't know, do you? Avian DNA isn't all they were screwing with," he said solemnly as his pupils became slitted. He saw Max tense almost immediately as he rolled his eyes. "It makes you wonder how, with genius IQs, they don't seem to think of the idea beforehand," he said wryly to Aisha. He knew among the flock that only Max had what could really be termed as a 'genius IQ', while the others had other unique talents. A slight ripple of air gave away the illusion as deep reddish gold fox ears and a tail appeared on Kohaku.

Both Eva and Aisha jumped when Max struck Kohaku. Aisha's ears flattened and so did her brows. Eva's mouth tightened for a moment.

"Right." Her voice a little more terse than she'd intended, "Honey, are you hungry? If so, please have a seat. Will you be expecting anymore guests?" she asked Kohaku, still not batting an eye at his updated appearance. Personally, she thought the ears were cute and his tail looked especially soft. She had a sudden urge to touch but she clamped down on the impulse.

Kohaku tilted his head before a blur of white, pale pink, violet, and gold shot through the door before tackling him with enough force to skid him back as far as the next table back. It resolved into a small, leanly muscled girl with curly blond hair, dark violet cargo pants that stopped just above her ankles, and a pale pink tee shirt on; she looked no older than thirteen. Kohaku knew Aisha would recognize Angel immediately. "Just one, I think," he said with amusement. He inhaled sharply as he felt a rippling heat shoot up his spine as he half carried Angel back to the booth, unaware his tail had split into two identical tails.
