Ganymede stumbled and was knocked back but managed to keep himself on his feet, tripping over some rubble and looking to the side to make sure Val hadn’t been knocked too far or injured in any way -- at least no more than he already was after being thrown against that column earlier -- when the youma’s webs shot out and suddenly surrounded him. He could barely move, just uselessly kick his legs and wiggle around to try and break free.
“Okay, I was flippant about it being a spider before, but I take it back,” he said, making a face at the feel of the webs around him. It felt gross against any area of bare skin it happened to touch. “This is disgusting.”
And bad. Very, very bad. If it could grab all of them at once like this…
It squeezed tightly, too tightly to make breathing as comfortable as usual, though it was not impossible, just a bit of a strain for anything more than easy, shallow breaths. One arm was pinned to his side under the web. The other had been raised for balance as he was surrounded and now hung free, but no matter how he tried to pull the sticky webbing off, his efforts remained useless and ineffective.
“Crap… crap… s**t…”

As the web fell on Candice and everyone else around the giant spider, she wished she had some firepower... Even a damn match would help. The web was clinging to her clothes and felt so weird against her skin... It felt like chains on her. She decided to yell, with nothing better to do.
"Anyone smoke and have a lighter? Would seriously help in this situation... At least, maybe." Candice sighed as she took her time to look around. Raven was still there... But her kissy-face Jett wasn't. Either he chickened out or they all missed something horribly important.
Candice was still immobilized, but she could feel herself be able to move her fingers as time went by. It was interesting how it seemed like everything magical had it's limits. Not a bad thing certainly, but the good guys would be able to use their magic and win right?

"Shhh," Fritz murmured quietly, reaching out to press his fingers against Eliza's forehead. "Don't worry, I'll take care of it, okay?"
Out here, in the Surrounding, without anything to keep them from going crazy, Fritz clung to the few things he could - namely the very scarce amount of people he could manage to call "friends." Eliza, with her daydreamer, imaginative self, was one of those people - people he did not want to see hurt, especially when it was someone as young and free spirited as this girl.
"It's okay," he told her again, giving her what he hoped was an encouraging smile. Her rummaged around in his pockets, looking for something to tie around her leg. "I'll help - SOMEONE, HELP ME - "
Except Fritz didn't get to finish his sentence, because the creature moved, and he was suddenly thrown off his feet, away from Eliza, and slammed against the nearest wall. Stars exploded behind his eyes, but before he could manage to gather his wits, something shot out, something white and sticky and heavy, wrapping itself tightly around his upper body, another around his leg and sweeping him completely off his feet.
"ELIZA!" Fritz shouted, wriggling frantically. His voice was hoarse, ringing out for anyone he knew, desperate to know if they were all right, if they were still alive. "Eliza! Hawke! Virgo!"
He couldn't see where anyone else was. Only one of Fritz's arms was free, the other pinned tightly against his side by the spider's web. Head aching, he attempted to drag himself forward, eyes searching the room for someone, anyone. There was a girl about two feet away from him - someone he didn't recognized, but another civilian by the looks of it [ Candice ].
"Hey," called Fritz. "Hey! Are you all right?"

4... 3... 2... 1...
The magic finally wore off, but perhaps a little too late - the spider was preparing... something.
And that something didn't look like webs at all... It looked green, slimy, and probably not good for you.
Wuh-oh.

One civilian had disappeared -- who knew where to. He had vanished as quietly as a breath. Maybe the spider had... gotten him. Eaten him? Could it have happened that fast? By the looks of the move the spider was about to make next, one of them would soon find out. It was preparing its fangs, luxuriantly grooming them with an awful-looking venom.
The only question that remained was who would be its first (or second?) meal of the evening. Was there really no way to get out of this?
And then -- suddenly -- there was a strange glimmering that had appeared in one of the corners of the room. It wasn't a fire. It wasn't a reflection, either. Like light itself given animation, it innocently shimmered yards away, a literal beacon of hope it could have been, if only it were close enough for any of them to reach it.

The glimmer seemed to be enough to distract the spider, just long enough that it deviated from it's intended target - the powereds - just a little to the side.
A little too much to the side...
Someone's about to figure out how good spider venom tasted like...
1 - Keren 2 - Darwin 3 - Hawke 4 - Holiday 5 - Varya 6 - Cameron 7 - Veer 8 - Raven 9 - Eliza 10 - Candice
...And it was Hawke that got hit by the venom, for 12 damage total.

"HAWWWWWWWWWWKKKKKEEEE!"
The scream erupted from Fritz's throat, raw and desperate. He had seen the enormous spider, swinging around as if gauging which of them would be its next victim and sinking its fangs into the girl he had met just days before.
Something flashed in the corner - something bright, something glimmering and distinctly off. Fritz's attention - first on finding Eliza, then on the girl next to him - had not been anywhere else, other than the enormous creature intent on killing them all. But now it was drawn to that corner - a peculiar brightness that seemed to emanate from nowhere, making Fritz blink.
His heart was sinking fast - seeing Hawke go down was making his chest feel tight, difficult to breathe - but Fritz stretched out his fingers towards the strange light almost involuntarily, as if reaching desperately for one last thing that could possibly help them.
He had no idea what that light was. What if it was something worse? something that would only turn their situation even more hellish than it already was? Except something in Fritz's mind was telling him that it wasn't aligned with the massive creature towering above them.
His teeth gritted together. "Bloody hell - no !"

Candice looked around as someone called out and noticed someone (Fritz) was calling her. She was soon able to move again and looked over at him as her arms relaxed by her side again. "Yeah, I'm f-"
Before she could finish what she wanted to say, the youma lounged out at someone and it wasn't a Senshi. Instead of finishing her 'fine' she let out a 'f*ck' under her breath as the spider's fangs suck into someone she was unfamiliar with.
"This is definitely not good..." she thought as she looked around. Sure, her and the rest of the civilians were good at being backup, but what was going to happen to them if they youma started attacking them more instead of the civilians? She ran towards Fritz. "I think... This is a good time to get out of here."
As she looked around for Raven, she saw this odd light... That seemed... Inviting? "Raven! Let's get the hell out of here! Best guess... Towards that light!"

Raven shook her head, blinking and looking around.
Jett...where was Jett? Where...He had been here! She knew he had been here!
The blonde heard someone calling her name and saw Candice, nodding slowly.
"Y-yeah! Let's get out of here. The light does sound like the best bet."
She moved towards the other female and took her hand. "Let's get out of here, and we have to find Jett...he's...gone somewhere, and I don't know where. I'm worried...but, I guess we're really more important.

Eliza looked up to see ... oh that was pretty ... it felt nice. Her eyes were drawn away to watch Hawke go down and drawn to Fritz when he shouted. She moved toward the boy grabbing hold of his shirt, quite happy to have her friend near again. Still her eyes wandered back to the girl on the ground, suddenly the surrounding wasn't as fun as it had been.
She looked back to the light, "what do you think it is?" This was barely whispered as she took a step toward the pretty light still holding onto Fritz.
She heard the other girl shout to someone called Raven and she looked to Fritz once more. "Do you think she right? You think that thing can help us. I really hope so, I don't want anyone else to get hurt. If it can help we had better get it right?"

When the killing blow struck, there was a fresh spurt of blood, bright like a freshly bloomed rose. It was clear from the volume of it that this was not something that could be survived. As Hawke's body began its slow descent into death, those standing nearby could only watch helplessly. It became clear as the body slapped against the rainbow road that this would be the fate of them all: civilians did not belong at the Surrounding.
For three painful seconds, the body remained piled in pieces at their feet. Blood pooled around Hawke, forming a lethal circle.
But then something strange happened.
At first, it appeared to be some trick of the eyes, another riddle of the Surrounding. The outermost edge of the ring of blood began to glow. It hummed a vibrant red, then pink, and then lightened into a shimmering gold. Once the gold sizzled into existence, it quickly spread like wildfire, turning blood, hair, and skin the same brilliant gold.
The light grew brighter and brighter until the other civilians had to close their eyes. Particles of golden light rose into the air, swirling in a fine mist of glitter. They hung there in a swirling column and then shot like mini-rockets at the vicious spider before it could even consider its next move. The creature let out a paralyzing cry, swatting vainly at the intangible light. The golden glow made contact despite its attempts.
It stretched at whiplike speeds around it, glowing gossamer threads entangling the monster much like the web it had just used to do the same to its victims. A veil of pure light was wrapped around the monster before its sparked away all at once, but not before burning into its carapace. Legs flew off. Tar flowed from its open wounds and bubbled on the ground.
The darkened air of the room was filled with the gold glow left behind in Hawke's wake. It wafted its way gently outside, back toward the rainbow road. The golden glow shimmered hotly as it made contact with the rainbow pathway. Everywhere it touched, the pathway hummed with power, glowing brighter than it perhaps ever had.
Then the light disappeared, leaving only the other civilians behind with no trace of Hawke.
All that lingered was the joyful flash of hope that none could deny feeling ricocheting through their bodies at a lightning fast speed. Hawke was gone -- but she had done something to help save them before he went. Now the question remained: how?
---
The coils of silk around the civilians were slowly but surely beginning to loosen. The smaller ball of shimmer still remained, curiously; bobbling somewhat purposefully across the room as the monster still struggled behind it.
Most saw a simple cloud of gently glowing dust.
Fritz, however, saw something else. Something oddly familiar.

As Candice took Raven's hand and was going to get out of here, she along with the other civilians watched as a gold light emerged and was attacking the youma. Whatever the light was, it clearly saved their lives, at least... most of them. Candice looked back at Raven as well as Fritz and the girl with Fritz (Eliza).
She spoke to Raven. "I'm... Sorry about Jett. I mean, we don't really know if he's... Gone yet, but hey, we'll see, okay?" She walked a few steps closer to Raven and hugged her. Candice felt bad that there was nothing else she could do but try and comfort her.
Candice really didn't know what to do beyond the hug. It was the first time she saw someone die as well as disappear into no where. The feelings were weird and she couldn't help but feel sad. Sure, she'd try to look happy, but would she see home again?

Just as Darwin managed to yank the spine out of his shoulder, an invisible force sent him tumbling across the floor. After a series of awkward summersaults and rolls he ended up against the pile of rubble he had started at.
Groaning and rubbing his shoulder, he glanced around the room. He saw a light. Light at the end of the tunnel? Seemed like a better option then youma-spider. He saw Raven and another girl headed for it and was going to head for it himself when he realized something: Where was Jett?
Darwin actually worked up enough nerve to get into a standing position; cringing, but standing nevertheless. He was inching towards the light, but his eyes were darting about looking for Jett. He could’ve sworn he was here earl-
When someone screamed Hawke’s name, Darwin jumped a couple of feet in the air and immediately resumed a hunched position. Had the spider-youma killed someone?
Then there was light and blood and screams and strangeness and-
-and Darwin wanted the world to shut up, give him his DS back, and GTFO. This was too much for even his ADD brain to handle. Why couldn't this all just be a bad, sugar-induced nightmare?

He heard the body slam against the ground - heard the sickening slap, the nauseating crunch of bone and flesh meeting a hard surface. The bile rose in Fritz's throat, but he refused to be sick, refused to let that turn him away from what was happening, what he could not stop. The blood from Hawke's body swept across the floor, a horrible, blatant red stain on the white dusted marble.
- for about three seconds, that was.
Fritz's eyes were permanently focused on the scene unfolding in front of him, like a movie he couldn't stop, couldn't pause. His hand reached for Eliza, standing next to him with her fingers clenched in the arm of his shirt, and his own curled around her wrist tightly; a subconscious movement, as if trying to involuntarily feel for someone alive, his thumb pressed against the pulse beating beneath her skin.
The gold was blinding - bright and oddly, peculiarly, and morbidly beautiful even as the gossamer strands twisted and coiled around the massive, spidery beast. It was being ripped apart - Fritz could see one of its enormous legs thrown to the side as easily as a sheet of paper tossed carelessly aside. There was no sign of Hawke - no more, she was gone - gone - and Fritz's heart ached painfully.
There was a humming noise outside - a feeling of warmth, the scent of heat, and then -
It all disappeared.
Almost.
There was something still there - something small, an odd glow emanating from...what, exactly? Fritz felt his heartbeat quicken, his fingers tightening around Eliza's wrist, but he could not seem to tear his eyes away from what was right in front of him.
His eyes widened, his mouth opening and closing as if he wanted to say something; yet no sound escaped his throat, only a wordless gasp.
...I know that -

Raven returned the hug for a moment, then pulled away, her blue eyes narrowed, almost cold. "Come on."
She glanced back to Darwin. "Darwin. Come on. We're getting out of here, and we're getting out of here now. I'm not losing someone else tonight. I refuse to.
She would fight. She would fight to get back what she lost, and she would fight to keep what she had. She doubled back some, grabbing Darwin's hand, dragging him over to where Candice stood, taking her hand once more.
"Come on. Before someone else...dies..."
