Star winced, moving a bit further out of reach. "There may have been a few.. indiscretions, but I do provide a service of actual significance." He said this in a way that suggested being on a lower peg than Memne the fashion designer stung. "And the Boss seems to like me. His opinion must count for something. He is our leader."

Two minutes after outing himself as a traitor and he was already trying to curry favor. It was impressive. Impressively pathetic, but impressive. Tethys gave Star a look. She had a large stock of dispassionate reptilian stares, and this was #49: I didn't think it was possible for my opinion of you to sink any lower, but you've managed to excavate through bedrock.
"What it counts for is his unerring faith in humanity's salvation," she informed the man, and cocked her head at the.. oh ye gods, it was the love theme from Cinderella. They didn't have time to waste. "Are you finished?"

Tethys' stare made it clear that attempts to repair the damage done a few minutes ago were pointless. That probably should have been clear already but nothing ventured nothing gained.
"..yes." He conceded, dropping the hopeful expression he'd been wearing. "..if I'm going to coax information out of her I'll need to speak with her alone. How exactly do you suggest we rip the two of them apart?"

"Surely with your talents you can fabricate something far more convincing. Preferably before they start waltzing; we pay enough for structural damages as it is." Tethys strode for the door and gave it a pointed wrench, indicating the time for discussion was now over.

Star watched her return to the door and sighed, following after her. "..very well. Follow my lead." He strode past Tethys on the way back to the robotics lab. He ignored the looks from the Galactics scattered around the room and glanced at Tethys over his shoulder.
"..you know him better than I do." He gestured at the line up of partially-finished mechs. "Which one is he most excited about?"

Tethys did not, in fact, follow his lead, although she made a note of the slight shift in Star's posture and gait and the way he strode into the robotics lab, and absently reflected on the sort of man who would let such a small bit of perceived power - not even power, choice - go to his head. It would have been sad if he wasn't a man who persisted in sabotage despite having his ribs broken on three separate occasions. Really, she was getting soft.
Her expression as she came shoulder to shoulder with him was that of a senior college student watching a pre-teen get excited about being able to stay up past eleven. It didn't linger long; her eyes slid past him and scanned over the cavernous hall of machines until it came to rest on a flattened, bulbous construct that was dwarfed by its hangar.
"That one."

Oblivious to her critique of of his ego, or how blatantly he wore it on his sleeve, Star followed Tethys' point and stared. "The dunsparce." He said flatly, "...you're joking."

Tethys gave him a bland look in return. It was #65: Somehow you are stupider than you look. That is quite an achievement.

He recoiled from the look, stooping back into submission. "Of course.. what was I thinking? It's a shining example of his work." He offered a weak smile before moving on. He crossed the room and traversed the appropriate catwalks to reach the nearly-finished machine. It was, indeed, a giant dunsparce. The equipment being mounted on the front suggested it would be put to use as a burrowing vehicle. It was also equipped with stylish running lights along both sides. At least it was nice for a dunsparce.
Star paused a moment to look at the design specs hanging on a board near the machine before sighing and approaching it. "Out of my way." He shooed a Galactic who was welding plates onto the mech aside and pulled open an access hatch. He paused to eye the Galactic a moment, reached over to snatch a wrench from his toolbelt, then climbed inside.
The Galactic turned his torch off and lifted his welding mask, looking confused.
Star was inside the dunsparce for several minutes before the machine made an unpleasant whirring sound. The lights on the sides went dark and the dunsparce fell silent.
He reappeared shortly after and climbed out of the mech, holding the wrench in one hand and a silver cylinder in the other. A mess of detached cords hung from one end of the mysterious part.
"Here." Star thrust the cylinder at the bewildered Galactic, "Hide this."
"But sir.." The Galactic took the part, as well as his wrench, "This is the-"
"I know what it is." Star's tone was impatient, "Put it under your desk or something."
Looking concerned, the Galactic glanced at Tethys, then wandered off to put the cylinder under his desk.
"Right." He looked back at Tethys, "Time to check back on the happy couple."

When Star and Tethys returned to the observation deck they'd find Deimos romancing in full swing. Or at least trying to. He was gesturing wildly, explaining some amazing mission he'd been involved in. "When we finally cornered the Entei it turned on us! And then I-"
"Excuse me, sir." Star wasted no time, interrupting as soon as they arrived.
Deimos looked up, "Oh, Star. Tethys, I was wondering where you'd gone." He tilted his head, "Is everything alright?"
"Well.. not really sir." Star lowered his head, "It's the dunsparce vehicle... I don't..." He fidgeted, looking ashamed, "It's suffered a critical power failure. I know how much it means to you, sir. I've tried to repair it but I can't find the problem! It's just.. it's just beyond my skills. We need your help."
Deimos' eyebrows crept up, "The dunsparce." This was obviously upsetting news, "Well... maybe after we eat.. we're in the middle of-"
"Sir, it can't wait." Star insisted, "We're already off schedule. If this isn't sorted immediately it won't meet your deadline. I know you're busy.. that's why I called the Commander first. She insisted you'd understand. It was her idea to come get you."
Deimos glanced at Tethys, "Oh. Well.." He looked back at Nyx uncertainly.
"I can look after your guest until you get back, sir. It's the least I can do." He bowed his head.
Deimos nodded, still looking a little confused, "..if it's that urgent."
"I can assure you. It is."
Deimos looked back at Nyx apologetically, "Duty calls, I suppose. I'll be back as soon as I can." He climbed to his feet, adjusted his cape and hurried off to tend to the contrived emergency.
Star watched him go, then looked back at Nyx, "My sincere apologies. It seems I've ruined a pleasant meal."

If there was one thing she could say about being kidnapped, it was certainly a fairly enjoyable experience. At least for her. She'd listened with interest at Deimos' story about the Entei; Did that mean they had an actual Entei? She knew for a fact they had an actual Ho-Oh, so it was possible...
And then someone interrupted her social-spying. "Huh? Oh- alright... I'm sure I'll still be here." Nyx gave Deimos a friendly wave and leaned back in her chair, turning her attention on Star. "Ah, well. I'm sure I'll have plenty of time to spend with Deimos."

"Oh yes... no doubt." Star glanced around, frowning slightly at the romantic music wafting around the petal-strewn deck, "...perhaps we should find a less atmospheric place to wait." He placed a hand on the back of Nyx's chair to pull it out for her, doing a much better job than Deimos. Though that wasn't a tremendous accomplishment.

"Hm. I don't know- I'm fairly comfortable here. Where are we going?" Nyx said casually as she forked something on her plate and attempted to eat it when her chair was pulled out.

Star sighed. He'd only been out here a minute and the music was already grating on his nerves. "I was going to suggest a quieter location... but if you're happy here."

"Alright then." Nyx stood, putting her fork down on the plate and turning to follow Star. She had no problem with the music, and actually liked things like that, but she couldn't gather information on the observation deck.
